My grilled chicken tacos were bland and nearly overcooked, with no juiciness to moderate the raw white onions they were served with. My guac was chunky, served cold, and lacked aromatics, textures, and even salt. The chips I got were hard and thick; difficult to crunch on. One of the best places to get real Mexican cuisine. I can't name one plate only because everything you try has an authentic flavor from Mexico. Service is great, from the owners and the staff. The ambience is good. Recently we had a reunion and was extremely successful. The flan is one of the best on the county. La Bamba has been a place I've wanted to try for quite a while. This Mexican restaurant moved into what was the Dover Diner a few years ago, from their original location on Blackwell Street. I had been to the diner a few years ago, and this is a huge improvement! The festive Mexican decor just makes you feel happy. We started with fresh guacamole. Our entrees included Enchiladas with green sauce, Carne Asada, and Tacos de Carnitas. We all thought the food was excellent! Service was very friendly. I think this is one of the best places to go for tacos in the whole area. They are spot on. Super flavorful and the price is right. The deep fried tacos are also amazing. Chicken enchiladas were perfect with green sauce. I have taken 3 groups of three to this place and every one has shared they would go back. It's pretty authentic and I can't say enough about the food. Food comes out quickly but the service can be a little slow. That seems to be the norm these days. Everyone has been very kind and patient. Place usually has others in it which is a good sign. The space is decorated a lot to reflect the culture of the food you are eating. read more

This is my third time dining here in the past 6 months. The good: friendly service, modest prices, clean The not so good: the "fresh" salsa is obviously made with canned tomato sauce. the corn tortillas are the chalky-tasting store bought Goya kind. Not fresh! No longer an option for outdoor dining. The person I believe was either the owner/manager was not wearing a mask. Fortunately, he was sitting about 20 feet away. I went here last week and lo and behold once again did not have tamales. Apparently they only make them on Saturdays. I've been here on a Saturday and they did not have any. (the third time was not the charm.) What's the use of having them on the menu when you never have any available? I had the menudo which was real tasty and tender. Still, it was a downer that they (kitchen) refused to serve it with the tender corn kernels (hominy). I guess they can open cans of tomato sauce and goya tortilla packages but not any cans of hominy. read more

La Bamba was originally located on Blackwell Street and was one of the businesses devastated by the big Dover fire from a year ago. The new location on 46 is larger with lots of free parking. Easy to get in and out. Food is good with great prices. I've been there a few times and enjoyed what I ate each time. read more

I ordered the bisteck A la Mexicana $10 and the carne Asada $9 from here and the bill came out to $37. They didn't individually put the order down on the receipt and just lumped it onto a bill with the sum being $37. I called and told them that I was being overcharged but they just said "our meat prices went up." When I told them it was an $18 difference they just kept saying the meat prices went up and tried to deflect. I understand things are rough right now, and I really don't like complaining, especially when I want to help support small businesses, but I strongly encourage anyone to be very cautious with ordering from here and make sure they are keeping track of what they are charging you with. I am very upset since the food is pretty good, but I will not be giving them my business anymore. Be careful when ordering and paying through the phone. read more

We finally made it here and lunch was so delicious. It's BYOB, awesome service, great music and of course great Mexican food. We had the fried tostadas with chicken and Mar y Tierra entrée. The place is fantastic! The food comes out pipping hot, and everything was delicious! My kids who are very picky eaters enjoyed their meals. Great food, with wonderful atmosphere and decor. I followed a waitress from another restaurant to LaBamba, and I'm so glad I did. I love the family atmosphere, and the new location. Been there several times, and we always receive stellar service, but most recently had a small party for my niece who specifically requested LaBamba all the way from Sussex County.
