La Bella is under new ownership. I had not been to La Bella in two months. I went to La Bella to have a basic pedicure today. Jenny did I nice, basic pedicure with gel nail polish for me today which should have been $32 plus the gel nail polish. I was charged $50 which means that I was charged an added $18 for the gel nail polish. I think this is outrageous and I will not be back. I tip Jenny $12; I did not feel the ridiculous charge for the gel polish was her fought. Too bad, the location is really convenient for me. read more

I generally come here and have good experiences, but I'm pretty sure I just got the worst manicure ever. I still have skin, hangnails that were not groomed, my nails are all different sizes, and the polish is less than desirable. After being in Austin for almost 8 weeks I really needed a pedi. Came here today and the lady that did my nails didn't clean up the nail polish on my skin, and didn't do a top coat!! I had heard mixed reviews about La Bella since they opened. I already go to Glamour nails (next to Cho) so really had no intention of ever going there. However, I was unable to get into my usual girl today so called La Bella to make an appt for my sister and I. I walked in and was impressed with the interior. It's definitely the nicest nail place aesthetically in Steiner. I picked out my color and asked for a Shellac manicure, which is usually what I get at Glamour. She started to do my nails and I was immediately put off by the fact that she was not pushing down my cuticles. I mean, she was pretending to, but she wasn't actually touching my nail. It was weird. Then she pretended to cut my cuticles, but didn't actually cut anything. Then, she started to apply the polish and I know for a fact, in order for the shellac to stay on, each coat has to cure under the light for 2-3 min. She waited maybe 30 sec. and added another coat, and another, and was done. Literally 20 min. Just after I left a bad tip and walked out, I noticed that the tips of my very red nails were blotchy and had little pieces of lint under the polish. UGH! Close to being the worst manicure ever and I will never return. Also, sister next to me had the same experience, so this must be a salon wide problem. read more

Are you kidding me?! Confusing, unwelcoming as soon as you walk in. No one seems to speak English very well...which is fine as long as there is a greeter/mediator. All I wanted was a lip wax. It was OBVIOUS the table hadnt been cleaned or re-prepped from the last customer. I waited for her to clean it, but she motioned for me to lay down. I said, "Is it ready?!"...she said "yes, yes". As with most nail salons, it depends who you get to do your nails. I've now had three different ladies do my nails and they all did a good job. The sign up area is confusing and too high for a normal or short woman to the point it's sort of intimidating. In terms of curb appeal, the welcoming area (sign in spot and where you sit) is pretty awful as there are only two chairs and I can just see over the top of the reception sign in desk. The TV is never on at the right side but is on at the left where the pedicures are given which seems odd but not a big deal. And yes, English seems to be a second language but isn't that the norm for all nail salons!? Absolutely the worst nail experience I've ever had - and in Steiner Ranch to boot! A fancy, rich neighborhood! Walk in and am completely disregarded. A few aestheticians make eye contact with me, but no greeting, no smiles. Finally someone asks me what I'm in for and I say a gel manicure and ask how much it costs. She doesn't know but disappears into the back to find out - when she returns, she doesn't say anything or acknowledge me at all. Eventually someone comes out, tells me it's $30 and seats me at the long table to wait. And wait. And wait. After about 10 minutes, someone finally appears. I am waiting so long I notice fingernail trimmings on the counter in front of me and I notice the splatter of nail polish on the wall where it looks like someone threw a bottle against the wall. Anyway, I pick my color and we go about the manicure which is completely mediocre. The cuticle trimming is good, the service is terrible. The color was so sheer we had to use 4 coats and the aesthetician seemed peeved that I requested an additional coat. He provided no after-care instructions on how to remove the gel (fortunately, I knew from previous experiences but a good aestheticians will tell you how to care for your nails/hands/cuticle beds). I've been going to Tuan for a couple of years now. He saved my nails from another salon problems with fungus from Acrylic. Absolutely amazing!! Excellent quality of work and excellent customer service, time and time again. I've also used Amy and others at the salon, all awesome!! Highly recommend them! I just met a very inspirational Vietnam lady. She was doing my nails and took notice of my scrubs. She told me (in very broken English) that she used to be a nurse back in Vietnam. She moved here after her husband died of cancer to be closer to her children. She gets up at 6am to go to school to learn English and then works 14 hour days at the nail salon. She really tried to learn the correct pronunciation of my name. My heart broke for her. I could see how much she really cared about the stress spots on my fingertips and took special care of me. Just when I think the world can be so cruel, even the randomness of strangers (that barely speak English) show you that it's not as cold as you thought. Kim is forever my nail lady. I called La Bella and they told me to come right in. They got me and my daughter in right away and did an amazing job. If I could give this 0 stars I would. I've been coming here (as a captive in Steiner Ranch for almost 4 years. Their attitude and service has gone down hill every visit. I only came back here because I found a gift certificate!when i was packing/moving. They told me 15 minutes for a pedicure and it was over an hour wait. I told the owner i had been waiting 45 minutes and he was very unapologetic and disinterested. I would have left but I took this day off to get a bunch of errand/appointments done after moving out of Steiner recently, and I had that gift certificate. I went in to get a simple mani pedi for an event I had the day after, and from the moment I walked in I was whole heartedly disappointed with the service. I did not understand what the lady at the entrance was saying (and I am foreign as well so I am used to accents but this was ridiculous) and kept getting pressured to add on treatments that I made clear I did not want. I have no problem with being offered once politely, but it was an uncomfortable amount of times that they asked me if I wanted gel, then eyebrow wax.. etc. The actual mani pedi was rushed, and unprofessional. I asked them to show me what two colors looked like on my nails so I could pick, and they ignored my request. Then I asked them to please have my nails filed shorter and my request was once again ignored. At the end of the hour, the lady did not even help me put my sandals on or get my purse so I could walk over to the drying station. Two days later my nails look like a two year old did them.. I don't know why, but there are quite a bit of negative reviews on this place. I'm here to tell you, it all depends on who you get. I've been here multiple times to get my eyebrows waxed and my nails done and I've never had a bad experience! I always ask for Hanh, but I don't know her English name. She's quite lovely, and no ingrown hairs to speak of the next day! Love, love, loooove! Another AMAZING thing. I brought a couple of younguns with me, and while my nails were drying, they started messing with the nail polish racks. I quickly told them to stop, but the owner said it was fine and then proceeded to PAINT THEIR NAILS IN THE COLOR THEY WANTED. FOR FREE. There were 3 kids, so she lost about $90 without even blinking an eye!! I'm not saying to bring hordes of children here for free manicures, but seriously. I've lived in Steiner for about a year now, and today was my first visit to La Bella mainly because I go to the other nail place in Steiner. But since the other place was closed, and I really wanted a manicure in the middle of a Sunday afternoon I decided to go for it. I walked in with my six year old son and four week old son in tow, and expected to wait a good while since the place was packed with women getting pedicures, but I was ushered to a station in about two minutes. My manicurist was attentive but was going back and forth between me and another woman. I do have to give her kudos for attending to my one hand while I was bottle feeding with another. She literally squatted on the floor for me. All in all, the layout is nice, apparently you can bring alcohol there and drink to your heart's content, there is free water and soda, and cute pedicure chairs for kids. I find those to be great perks. However, the quality of my manicure wasn't great and some of the employees were a little rude. read more

Have been here 4 times now. Kirsten is awesome! Somehow she remembers details about my kiddo's and I have six. That's saying a lot! She does an amazing job on my nails and the technicians and greeters here are all friendly and welcoming. As I work near by the place is very convenient and I have popped in for fills several times. The staff is always within a few minutes of how long the wait is, and if it's too long Kirsten schedules me for another day and time and I've never had to wait. This is a wonderful nail salon with great service. I was very pleased with how my SNS manicure turned out. I had a sweet nail technician named Karen. She was very friendly and helpful. She helped me decide a new color, was very knowledgeable in the different types of polishes I could use, and created the perfect shape for my nails using only my natural nails and not adding tips. She even fixed a part of my natural nail that originally had a chip on it. You can tell that everyone in the salon takes pride in their work. Karen took her time with my nails and the end result was beautiful. I was also very pleased with the price for the high quality of the finished product. For my original SNS to be taken off and for the all new set to be put on, it cost $38. I will definitely be back! Sorry to do this, but ladies need to know not to waste their time and money on Troy's services. He's very nice and hospitable, but his skill level with nails is severely lacking. I got a full set of SNS nails. I'm not a fan of SNS, the powder is clearly visible. Troy's job is bumpy and lumpy and uneven. It took 1.25 hours. I didn't have time to make him drill out the bumps and lumps, as 1.25 hours is already 30 minutes too long in my 15 years of experience getting acrylics (and my sick puppy was waiting to be picked up at the vet before they closed). In addition to every single nail be lumpy and bumpy which he should've filed/drilled down, I got pink and white and on 2 fingers, the ehite on one side goes down all the way to my cuticle. They look like sh@! and there's no way he didn't notice. He should've just fixed them all/completed the job by drilling them down to eliminate bumps, or offered for me to come back after getting my dog to correct his crappy job. I know he could tell I wasn't happy, but he made no suggestion to remedy the poor job. I didn't have time to stay and fix it or I would've talked to someone about them correcting his work. This is a new salon in the Randalls shopping center inside Steiner Ranch. The girls do a great job! The inside is very clean! The staff is very friendly! Everything is new! There is a huge variety of nail polish colors including Essie. I had a pedicure here and didn't want polish because it was winter and I wanted my nails to have a break. So Jenny took my instructions completely to heart and gave my feet and legs a really nice, thorough massage and treatment that took the whole hour (along with the normal pedicure work on nails and rough spots). I loved that she understood and did what I needed and asked. I really like this place. I would recommend it. Very convenient to Steiner and a really nice spa like setting. Also, I had to come back to pay since my credit card was left in my other purse at home. They were very kind about it and didn't make a big deal at all. Stuff like that makes a difference to me.
