I've stopped by with a friend before but didn't by anything the first time. It looked like a cozy spot. I placed an order through a food delivery app, so I can't speak as much to the service. The Croissant didn't stand out as particularly buttery or flaky, but it was good. The half of a Baguette de Trad. I ordered was softer than I expected it to be, but it was great air fried with butter. The half of a Bordelais I ordered had a nice and spongy interior with a crust that wasn't too hard.

I ordered a croissant and caramel latte from this small cafe and I enjoyed my latte the most. The best thing, and most immediate thing I observed while visiting is that they had great customer service and were very patient with me as I figured out my order. This was both the cashier and the barista, even when I had to double-back and they were quite busy. The cafe is small and nice to sit for a quick bite, but not a place to linger for a long conversation. There ate wooden tables and chairs inside the space and a bit of seating outside as well. When I visited one weekend morning, there was a line that went out the door but I was still able to place my order promptly.

Come here! Coffee, pastries especially the Kouign Aman- best one in Queens by far!!! In season Galette du rois is the BEST! This place is definitely a hidden gem.

Was early for my lunch appointment and I wanted a hot chocolate. I remembered this place does not disappoint, if you want real hot chocolate not water down one. I came in and there were 2 people in front of me. After I finished ordering, there was a line out the door since the queue line is close to the door. I wasn't planning on ordering a food item though the pistachio Éclair looks so good that I had to order one. One became two since how could I not get a chocolate crossiant at a French bakery. Everything was delicious. They also had the 3 kings cake. There was a long communal table and several 2 person tables if you can find a spot to eat. If you are in the neighborhood, pick up an item to try.

Easily my favorite spot in Forest Hills, worth going out of your way to visit. Friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere with ample seating, enjoyed everything I've tried so far. They bake their own bread in house and the baguette and sourdough bread is easily S-tier. However the lines on weekends can get very long and will go out the door at times, but it moves fast. Things I've tried so far: - Jambon Cru: Cured ham and cheese in baguette with truffle butter and salad side. One of my favorite sandwiches - savory and satisfying without being greasy or too heavy. Easily a regular go to order for me. 5/5 - Spinach Quiche: Good balance of spinach and egg, pastry crust a bit tough, and portion is on the smaller side but overall excellent. Comes with a salad side. 4/5 - Raspberry Beignet: The jam is homemade and not to sweet, donut is perfectly fried. 5/5 - Baked omelette: Not my favorite as I find the eggs too dry, but there was a generous amount of mushrooms. 3/5 - Baguette and sourdough: Does not always come as a side but worth paying extra for. If you are not a bread and butter person, you are going to be a convert. 5/5

    Mille-Feuille, Individual

I think they offer many options of desserts, treats and sandwiches in many sizes which is great! I took home 2 desserts, felt it was a bit overpriced for the size of the dessert but they were definitely tasty! The black forest was my favorite pick, meanwhile the mille foille had delicious creamy texture but the top coat was sugary compared to the rest of it! I definitely recommend stopping by for a cup of coffee and a sweet treat! Service was pretty fast and their place small but I believe is big enough for a 4 people seating!

Good pastries do not give the owner rights to be rude and threatening. Yesterday, he was standing over and yelling at four customers. One group was two very old ladies likely in their 80s, while the other two ladies are middle aged. His voice was angry and loud enough for the full house of customers to hear. Apparently, he was upset that someone complained about a dry madeleine. The verbal abuse was unnecessary. It was just simply wrong. Completely unprofessional. I have been a regular patron since they opened, but not anymore. No establishment should ever treat their customers in such manner. I will not support such a terrible owner.

I have a rather mixed review of La Boulangerie. Maybe I was wrong for judging it by its rather fancy name, because I was pretty disappointed. I browsed through their selection and decided on the fraisier cake ($8.5) and an iced matcha latte ($7). * Iced Matcha Latte ($7) I got this with oat milk. The iced matcha latte was elite - immediate 5/5. They made it exactly how I would have made mine. It was reallllly good and might even be in my top three matcha lattes. I love a stronger matcha flavor, and this one delivered a thousand percent. If you're a matcha lover like me, this is the drink to get. Fraisier cake ($8.5) This cake was my biggest regret. Naurrrrrr. Perhaps I set the bar too high because of the fancy name, but it was so hard and blocky that I struggled to even fork into it. Nothing like Cannelle Patisserie's strawberry shortcake, which is soft, velvety, and creamy. This one was definitely creamy too - but in the wrong way. It was weirdly hard, which just didn't work. I'd have to give it a 2/5. Overall, the food was okay. The staff were friendly and helpful though. I'll give this spot a 3.5 out of 5.

    French toast and matcha latte

The French toast with strawberries and whipped cream was delicious! It's perfect with the matcha latte. They look so pretty on the plate too!

Pros: + Decent variety of food options + Pistachio ecclair was amazing Cons: - Taste is just mediocre for how much you are paying. - One large table in the center is a bit awkward for seating - Difficult to find entrance - Flourless chocolate cake was a bit stale and lacked flavor. There's usually a line of some length during peak hours and especially around the holidays. You can tell by the sheer volume of baked goods and cakes available in their window displays that they sell a lot daily. This location is on the main drag of the little downtown section of Forest Hills, the baked goods in the front window display connect to a tall and long glass counter along the left side of the store that extends almost to the back. At the back middle and along the right side of the wall there's seating for about two dozen people at small cafe tables. They carry an assortment of traditional cakes (full and sliced), pies, cookies, pastries, cheesecakes, cupcakes, ice cream and coffee/tea drinks. A wide variety of flavors in each, so you're bound to find something sweet to satisfy most here. They are a classic bakery so from what I can tell, they don't carry items that are gluten, dairy or nut free. I've purchased their apple pie, fruit tart, berry napoleon, red velvet and chocolate fudge cakes from this or other locations in the past and they're all solid choices for desserts to share with a larger group, though I find a lot of their cake options to be on the richer side. My most recent encounter with their cakes came in the form of a slice of their seven layer cake $9.95 which is thin layers of yellow cake alternating with chocolate cream mmm pretty tasty, and their caramel cake $9.95 which had a layer of chocolate cake in the middle, sandwiched by caramel cream and white cake on either side. The latter had a pronounced caramel flavor that was enjoyable though a bit too much cream for me. My preference would be for their chocolate cakes over other cake flavors here. Their apple pie is one of my favorite apple pies anywhere tho!

So far, my favorite item has been the Pistachio Lattice, which is super crunchy on the surface while the nutty sweetness shines through on each bite. Another one I really enjoy is the Blueberry Cardamom Escargo, which has absolutely delicious cream cheese frosting mixed with wild blueberry jam and that nice hint of cardamom. Very moist. The Chocolate Chunk Cookie is pretty good too. Plenty of chocolate chunks with a hit of salt. However, their popular Pain Au Chocolate is not the best I have had. There is just not enough chocolate in each bite. Prices are not cheap, but the pastries are mostly very large in size, so you somewhat do get what you pay for.
