Eddie's Bakery in Fresno is a must when ordering birthday cakes or anything for a special occasion. Their cakes are delicious, and they always do such a great job with custom designs. I've ordered multiple birthday cakes from them, and they never disappoint. Custom cakes do start on the pricier side (around $45 and up, depending on the cake flavor and filling), but they're honestly worth it for the quality and detail you get. Just a heads-up they need at least 48 hours notice for custom cakes, and you do have to pay when you place the order. you can't pay on the day of pickup. When you walk in, you take a number and wait to be called. Once it's your turn, you can order from their different pastries and baked goods while placing your cake order. On pickup day, you just let them know you're there, they show you the cake, and then you take it home. I recently ordered a cake for my nephew's birthday, and they did an amazing job making it into a Pokémon ball. It was perfect and a huge hit. Overall, Eddie's Bakery is delicious. read more

Today my daughter invited me to breakfast at Eddie's Bakery and Cafe. I swore I was going to order something different! The thing about Eddies is the friendly servers, most of the time. Eddie's is warm, honey and just says come in, have coffee, sit for awhile. Visit with friends, enjoy a fresh pastry. Today I had the breakfast burrito, I split with my daughter. She got a delicious bear claw and we each ate half. So good! She enjoyed a cup of coffee and I had a large Peet's black tea! They can accommodate larger parties on the tented patio with heaters. They also have a small room for 10 guests and the cafe has several small tables for two- four people. They also offer take out, and DoorDash! The cafe is always clean, neat and welcoming. First I love pastries so this is my jam right here. I love that they have boxes of cookies already to go. So many options so little time. Breakfast was nice. Only a few tables and the day we went it wasn't very crowded. We enjoyed our breakfast, it wasn't huge which I really didn't want huge anyway but I did get full and it was good. Recently we tried the Maysville Chocolate Cake. It was the perfect fudge cake that satisfied our chocolate loving taste buds, though not overly sweet. Amazing desserts and designs for cakes! I got the creme brûlée and the chocolate dome and I have to say that this place makes one of the best desserts. I ordered the turkey and Brie sandwich which not a slice of Brie was found, barely a smear of mustard, the turkey was clearly from a package, laid flat on super hard bread. The sandwich basically consisted of 3 slices of "turkey", three very thin slices of apple and a whisper of mustard. The salad that came with had multiple leafs of slimy "greens". My husband picks me up pastries and he's never complained about bad service. He's had good interactions with the staff. I had to write about their bear claws... SO delicious. We buy maybe 6 of them at a time, keep them in the fridge, and have bear claws for the next few days. We heat them in the oven at 350 degrees for 5-6 mins and they taste freshly baked! Lunch time my friends , well Eddie's Bakery didn't disappoint. The food was delicious our California Club and BLT Roll was absolutely delicious. The service was absolutely fantastic and friendly and made you feel right at home. The ambiance is a neighborhood favorite I am sure with a casual but tasteful decor. I didn't even realize they sold food here until now! I got the Club Sandwich with sweet potato fries and a Mocha Frappe. The sandwich itself is SO GOOD-- the portion is just small. My MIL, got these little treats as a surprise for us and it made my morning. The bear claw was super soft and had great texture. They use real shaved almonds on top, not the prepackaged chalky ones. I am a regular customer for cakes and cookies, today we walked in to just get Easter cookies that are already pre packaged on top of the counter, we walked over to pay at the the counter and no one acknowledged me. I wanted to get him a carrot cake but I don't particularly care for the little frosting carrots that are on the top of the cake. They just look weird. Stopped in for a quick dessert and it's just as I remember it. It's alright, still! Lol. I used to visit more often years ago when I worked nearby. We've got a favorite place for red velvet so their slice compared to our favorite wasn't up to par. The cream cheese icing is on the sweeter side with what tastes like more like buttercream. I prefer a stronger tasting cream cheese frosting. The cake is moderately moist. The next day, I worked on finishing the slice and the frosting and cake were on the drier side. I can't get enough of the goodness at Eddie's , and I am here every week buying bags of treats for the family. My favorite treats are the fruit danishes. We were really excited to try Eddie's Café after hearing good things, but unfortunately, our experience was very disappointing -- especially when it came to the service. From the moment we walked in, the employees came off as incredibly rude. We try not to be difficult customers, and since it was our first time there, we had a few questions. Rather than being helpful, the staff seemed visibly annoyed every time we asked anything. It made us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. To be clear, the place wasn't even busy -- so it wasn't a matter of them being overwhelmed. At one point, one employee was just on their phone while we were standing there waiting. It just felt like they didn't care about the customers at all. It's disappointing because we were genuinely looking forward to supporting a local spot. Never again!! My wife and I want to Eddie's yesterday to pick out a birthday cake for her birthday. That experience was ok, got the Oreo Marshmallow one. Later that night we took the cake out and got it all ready to eat, blew out the candles, and cut into it. I could tell right off the bat as I was cutting into it, it felt old. I served it up and after the first bite from my wife, she told me it tasted really old. I then took a bite of my slice and for sure it felt like at least 1 week old cake. Hard as can be and the frosting just crumbled apart from the cake as well as the filling. The cake was not in the least bit moist at all! This was frustrating to say the least because I heard of many great things about this place, in fact my best friend's dad used to own this place before he retired quite some time ago, so I know the reputation or at least I thought I did. So today I called them complaining of this issue and they wanted me to drive all the way back down there with the cake, as long as it was at least half there, to see what they will do about it once they see it. No one in their right mind is wanting to burn a bunch of gas to walk in the place with a partially eaten cake just to see what they might be able to do about this obviously old cake. I stroked this up as a loss for me and anyone I can't tell and advise not to take a step in this place. I will not be going back. read more
