This was the first place our family found to eat lunch the day we moved here. We were very tired but the entire staff made us feel so welcomed. They paid special attention to our kids who loved everything that they ordered! Over all the food is OK, but I've had better. Last Friday I went with my husband and my uncle to eat there And although it was slightly busy we were able to get a seat pretty quick. Our server was taking way too long to even get us some drinks and he seem more interested to attend to other people that had gotten there after us. When it came time to place our order we asked the server to get us Flautas ..My uncle wanted a beef and a chicken which I'm sure is not an usual order. The server right away responded that he would check because usually the staff in the kitchen gets upset when it's really busy and someone orders one of each. HELLO!! We are the customers and we are paying for our food. They don't give their food for free. customers order what they want .. its not what the staff wants to give the customer. Tried this Mexican restaurant again for second and last time ; not only was the food terrible but, the local Acton clientele has no class. Their was a large birthday party of unruly brats and drunk parents but, it was so loud that having a nice quiet meal was impossible and management didn't do anything to remedy the situation. This is a local restaurant to my best friend in Actin and they go there all the time and I was in the area and picked up a to go order from here. The staff is so helpful and attentive and the host took my order right away and several waiters asked me if I needed help while I was waiting for the order. The food was great. I ordered the sampler appetizer which was plentiful and gave a variety of finger foods. I also ordered the steak nachos which were delicious, and for my vegan friend the avocado salad which was a very generous portion. read more

La Cabana is definitely worth a meal while in the area of Acton. The service was quick, it had a really nice atmosphere (we were inside but outside was bumping), we liked that they served a yummy complimentary bean dip with the salsa & chips (which was the first time I've ever seen that at a Mexican restaurant). The food was delicious too. I had a pollo en mole and it was awesome (mole can be hit or miss at some Mexican restaurants). The serving was rather large too and I had plenty of leftovers. I made an effort to not waste the leftovers as it was SO good. We ate at a couple restaurants in the Acton area and this one was by far the preferred one. My wife and I went there last night for dinner. Every single table on their patios and makeshift outdoor space were packed. There was no social distancing what so ever. My wife and I were back-to-back with other customers, at the most, 18" apart. None of the guests were wearing masks. And they were hopping from table to table. One customer sat down next to me in the chair that was at our table so he could talk to people at the other table. Again, no mask. The staff wore masks but no gloves. Because my health is compromise, after about 10 minutes, we got up and left. I will never go back there! The staff did nothing to mitigate the exposure. Unconscionable. read more

It's bad enough that we are going through this ridiculous virus (Check new CDC stats), and then you pay for less than sub standard service. We have been going here for a few years. We don't see the usual's as far as help...the service was terrible. I was a restaurateur for many years. 1st time I didn't leave a tip EVER. We ordered our food, drinks, etc. Made a few requests like adding jalapeno and an extra salsa. We waited for a long time after food was received for them to fix. We had to request more than once. I asked for a to go container.... didn't leave a tip and left. I will never go back. I can make better food at home for many dollars less, and when you want a break and you pay alot for food it is super disappointing. read more

On Sunday, November 7th at 11:30 I arrived at La Cabana for lunch. I sat on the patio, which was moderately busy and sat patiently until 11:55 waiting for service but received none, zero, zilch, nada... The waitress saw me, made eye contact briefly and then ignored me completely. Was it something I didn't say? My cologne perhaps? Maybe she prefers blondes? Was she impaired? I really don't know... She waited on others who arrived after I did, never offered me a menu, never took my order, didn't even offer me a glass of water! A glass of water would've been really nice that day... An attentive bus boy who was cleaning tables saw me and brought me a basket of cold tortilla chips and salsa. Big kudos to that young man! I should leave him a tip! Even other customers noticed and offered their sincere condolences. Unfortunately they wouldn't share their food with me, so I sat hungry, munching on cold chips on the patio. After waiting for 25 minutes staring at the scrubby trees, birds, sky and other innocuous things, I finally gave up and left. Went back today to give them a second chance and it was even worse. The ranchero sauce was tasteless and so salty I'm still puckered 10 hours later. The guacamole was like bad supermarket stuff with a real bad chemical taste-- the color was darker then if it was fresh. The waiter brought out the food then the check-- asked if I wanted a box for leftovers--- I declined, I didn't even want to give it to my dog. In my quest to try all three Mexican restaurants within 10 miles of our house, La Cabana ended up on the list. Yeah, I kind of live in the sticks.... We really weren't expecting much. This place is way out of the way and sits all by itself on Soledad Canyon Road, right in front of the train tracks. The interior is nice with typical mexican restaurant decorations - nothing to write home about really. We sat in the bar and waited FOREVER to get our drinks and eventually our food. It was OK though, since we weren't in a hurry and the amount of tequila in the margaritas more than makes up for some slow service. The food was above-average for a mexican place, though the prices were above average as well. BUT, living out here does lend itself to higher prices, so I can forgive that. The carnitas tacos were a little on the dry side, but very flavorful. Chile Relleno is a pass, but their enchiladas and tamales are very good. Size wise, it's about 3 times bigger than it looks. I know that sounds weird, but just wait til you walk through the place - it just keeps going! They seem to support a lot of local kids sports teams, which is nice to see and clearly have a good business catering to the locals. If you're not in a hurry and looking for decent mexican food out in the general Agua Dulce/Acton area, they are much better than Maria Bonita's, but I can't compare to Don Cuco's since I havent been there yet. Yes, Yay I'm a fan! The food is mediocre, prices are a teeny bit high but they sure don't skimp on the alcohol! They cater to the little horse community of Acton and to me that's well worth it all. We do a family ride about twice a month for lunch on Saturday's and their Long Islands. Where else you going to find tie rails and water for your horses. And the help! Let me give them 5 stars! Always friendly! Always efficient! We love to sit out on the patio on a nice day and even the customers out there are just as kind as the staff. Maybe that's all part of being part of a small community. As long as they are there, we'll keep riding out and enjoying their establishment. read more

My mom visited this establishment with some girlfriends the other day. I read what happened from my Dad on Facebook. Unacceptable: La Cabana better grow a pair. Long story short, my wife was with a group of women at La Cabana restaurant. They were sitting outside at their own table. This guy, apparently really drunk, comes over to their table behind my wife and puts his arms around her and one of her friends. It only took a couple of seconds for the girls to realize that no one knew this guy. She told this guy to get away, then had to physically push him away and tell him to get the f*** away from them. Then her friend actually jabbed him in the throat. One of the employees saw what was happening and did nothing and if he told someone else, they also did nothing. Luckily the guy left. So are we saying that our wives are not safe to spend time together by themselves in our own home town? read more
