I went to this restaurant pre pandemic and food and atmosphere was always great. I took my daughter and grandkids here today June 25, 3026 and was surprised the place was nearly empty but I now see why . I order a $21.00 chicken burrito . What I received was a huge scoop of refried beans , tiny pieces of chicken that you couldn't even taste, nor feel, due to all the refried beans, wrapped up in a soggy tortilla. and on a plate with more refried beans and very plain/tasteless Mexican rice. I voiced my complaint to the head waiter who told me that's just the way it is. Never offered to change it out. I then opened up my burrito , took the soggy tortilla off , and attempted to it as is. It was like eating a load of canned refried beans. Not acceptable by any measure. I asked the waiter if I could please get a different dish. He argued with me, said no one else has ever complained about the burrito before. I showed him my plate with the burrito opened up. I showed him the soggy tortilla, the filling the consisted of almost all refried beans, and the tiny pieces of chicken. He continued to argue with me. He finally said he'd go talk to his boss, then came back and said, ok what do you want I asked him for the menu, chose a tostada to go which was less expensive, and I still got charged for the more expensive burrito I didn't touch. My daughter ordered a child's plate with a cheese enchilada to share between her 2 children. The only thing they touched was a little bit of the beans. They didn't like the rice (they normally like rice) and spit out their first bite of their enchilada and both proclaimed they didn't like it. (They normally like that as well. I tasted it to see if it was the enchilada that was the problem or the kids were just being fussy. It was the enchilada. Tasted like a soggy tortilla with red sauce poured on it. After having such a difficult time changing mine out I just paid for theirs and said nothing about it. My daughter ordered chicken taquitos which she said were ok but store bought would have been just as good Never again will I be back. Sad, because I used to really like this place. Home-made food is starting to surpass restaurant food by far now, especially for the prices they are charging. It used to be a treat to eat out. Not so much now.

This place is so delicious! So glad we stopped here- food authentic! Our waiter Javier was super sweet! Very helpful with recommendations on entres. This place is very clean! Every single employee seemed happy and so friendly! They don't rush you out! Felt like I was eating at a families home. Thank you ! I will be back when in town!! Oh and that Cadillac margarita- whew! I didn't get many photos of this place, but I should have. I dropped by for lunch with some friends and it was really good. Unfortunately, I hadn't seen the friends for some time and we got to talking, and you can probably guess what happened. The service was great. I had the chili verde burrito. It was good sized and filling. The pork was tender and the sauce flavorful, but not overly hot. They bring 4 types of complementary salsa of different spice levels. All were excellent. It's a comfortable atmosphere. They have a large patio. It was a little warm, so we ate inside. They bus the tables promptly. A very nice, clean restaurant.

Wow I have eaten authentic Mexican food in Rosarito Beach at very high end restaurants there. So I found this restaurant as good if not better quality than any other restaurant in Mexico. It was very welcoming very attentive people and servers Food was EXCELLENT delicious chicken rice and beans on special for $17.95 large portion too. If your on the 14 highway stop in and have some of the best food north of the border I promise you won't be disappointed

Stopped after visiting some friends in the area we decided to grab some lunch. Seated quickly, ordered some margaritas, and munched on yummy salsa and chips. For entrees we got the nachos and beef taco/ cheese enchilada plate. Everything was tasty, margaritas were refreshing and service was great. A nice spot in Acton serving great Mexican food.

We love trying New Mexican food spots. They serve good portions and the flavor was good. You get bean dip and chips as soon as you are seated. Good flavor on the bean dip, May have some chorizo in it. My boyfriend got a chimichanga with chicken and I got a #9, taco and tamale combo plate with rice and beans. Beans were really good, I liked my crunchy taco. The tamale was quite dry though, not my favorite. I actually really loved the Italian dressing, which might be house made and it had bay leaves in it. Our waiter was quick and attentive, the interior decor is traditional Mexican and cozy. It's really big, there's like 2 outdoor patios as well.

Hidden in Acton, we wanted Mexican food and found this place off the 14 freeway. We were given chips and salsa which also included a bean dip which we all loved. The plates were huge and everything we ordered was delicious. It was all so filling and we still had so much leftovers. We don't live close by but we would definitely come back here again if we were ever in the area! Staff was very friendly also. read more

Nice Mexican joint with plenty of outside seating and good food !! Got to love the chips and salsa and bean dip as well !! Stop by here once in a while on my motorcycle ride back home to Santa Clarita from newcombs ranch up Los Angeles crest highway in angeles Forrest. Great food, great seating, friendly staff in great area. Overall I would tell you if your in area and wants some good Mexican foods and/or drinks and to feel a nice breeze this is your spot. And everybody including customers all very friendly there. Nice hidden gem in acton. read more

Ladies beware!!! I had a really weird thing happen to me at this restaurant. I called in a to go order and told the hostess that I was five minutes away (it was just a side of beans / rice so she said it would be ready by the time I arrived.) When, I arrived she went into the kitchen to get my order and I was left waiting by the counter. In the ten minutes that the host was gone... every single male employee in the joint had slowly walked passed me with major eyes on. It was super weird. I go out to my car and the drivers side has been popped open (my dog was in the car and I had left a tiny opening for fresh air and added a dash cover for the heat) and left slightly ajar. I was freaked out and didn't really think deeply about what happened besides just checking to make sure my dog was okay. I told my husband what happened when I got home and that was when we noticed that someone had broken off one of our hub cabs. I then checked the glove box because I had a feeling something was off... and sure enough they took my car registration. So, here I am feeling weirdly unsafe in the middle of the day at this restaurant and then I come out to find my car marked and my registration gone (good way to find out someone's address). I will never return to this restaurant because it absolutely felt like there are folks involved in shady things and it's not a safe space. read more

I love this place! The service can be hit or miss, but I get that sometimes it can be short staffed. Usually though, they come by regularly to check on you. I will gladly drive up the 14 versus going to La Cocina down here in Santa Clarita. Their salsa and bean dip with the chips are my favorite. Everything I've had has great flavor, with my usual being the enchiladas or tacos (which are generous on the filling). I always look forward to a visit there! read more

I've been here a handful of times and it's always been good. We've always had good service as well. My favorite part? The chips and bean dip they give you right after sitting down. I will devour that bean dip! Definitely a nice spot if you're in Acton, or somewhere close if you want to make a small trip. read more

This is very hard for me to leave a one star review. I just moved to Acton and one of the first places I ate was La Cabana. I LOVED it!!! I was so happy it was down the street from my house! I order there every week once sometimes twice a week. I'm trying to support small business as much as possible durning the pandemic. Last week I got a raw meatball in my soup. I called to let them know. I called the guy and first thing I said was I don't want anything I just don't want you guys sending out anymore soup like that in case someone gets mad. (I didn't even mention no salsa) He was like oh yeah anything else? I was like wow weird response. So tonight I ordered from there and again raw meatball! This time they put beans in a burrito I check twice and the menu did not mention beans. The sour cream and Guacamole that came on the side was not there. The salsa was so hot this time we couldn't eat it! It cost over $65 every time we eat there (there is 3 of us) and to get raw food and missing items is just not ok. I'm sorry I loved your food but there are other restaurants that would do a better job during this time. read more

Normally I don't like to order chiles rellenos from restaurants because no one can seem to get them right. I'm currently 6 months pregnant and I've had a craving for chiles rellenos and this morning I had a dream I was about to bite into the most perfect chile relleno I've ever seen and it was coated with a delicious red sauce (mind you I usually don't like the sauces on my chile rellenos) and right when I was going to take a bite into it I was woken up! So as I'm looking at the menu I'm debating on what I should get and I'm iffy about ordering the chile rellenos because in the past restaurants always let me down. I remembered my dream and decided to order it and omg let me tell you... it was the best chile relleno I've ever had outside of my grandmothers. The beans and rice were also very good. I absolutely enjoyed my food and the atmosphere of the restaurant and service was amazing. Will definitely be back again! read more

Love this place! The patio is amazing a huge. We went in for early dinner yesterday. We just had margaritas and the appetizer. The service is wonderful, we were constantly being checked on, water refilled etc. I've been here for happy hours and that's fantastic as well. I have been going to La Cabaña for many, many years! It's my favortite "go to" for Mexican food. I love their Carne en su jugo (weekends only), highly recommend. You can ask for spicier salsa if you like hot salsa. The wait staff, bartender, owner are the best! read more

This place is off the freeway the opposite way where most of the businesses in Acton would be at. After driving about a mile, you will see the lone La Cabana restaurant. It was on a Tuesday night driving on the way home from Palmdale. We were seated and served chips and salsa. The salsa was the most saltiest salsa I have ever tasted! I thought it might of been the chips so I ate that without the salsa but the chips hardly had any salt so I guess they make up for it by making the salsa super salty! Anyway we ordered dinner. I got a marinated chicken burrito and bf got a beef tostada salad. Both our meals were very good. Chicken was a bit dry but the refried beans they used made up for it. The rice was decent yet their beans were the best we tasted in all of the Mexican places we tried at the AV. Bf enjoyed his beef tostada salad very much too. While we don't live in the AV, this would be one of the places we would eat again at! read more

Wow! So impressed by their delicious food. We had the chimichanga de asada and the asada nachos and we ate the whole thing. We just moved to the area from the San Fernando Valley so we know good Mexican Food. Definitely a 10/10. We will go back soon for happy hour! This is my wife and I "go to spot " to meet after work and talk . The food is delicious and plentiful. The staff is the best , very attentive and cheerful. They give you chips and 2 different type of salsas and beans to start. The salads are chilled as is the plate .. really makes a difference! Every entrée I've tried was tasty ,and they don't scrimp on the beef or chicken ! We almost always have to ask for a "to go" box! I would definitely recommend this restaurant!! read more

Glad to see someone has already reviewed this awesome place. I know it's kind of out in the middle of no where (but hey there are some of us out there), but it is worth the drive to eat at this place. They have great dishes with very generous servings. We usually get the enchiladas plates, my favorite being the spinach and mushroom with green sauce. My family and I don't eat too much and they always split the dishes so nicely for us without any extra charge! The staff is really friendly and accommodating as well. I would definitely recommend sitting outside during summer because inside the run the A/C too much and it's all smoky from the kitchen. read more

Just get off the Crown Valley offramp and head due south for about a mile. 1) Wild Game Sausage: Walk On The Wild Side With Jalapeño-Cheddar Stuffed Elk With Roasted Peppers & Onions. Big portion enough for 2 meals since the Elk sausage is so rich. Elk sausage is ground fine and stuffed tightly in the casing for dense, firm texture. You're getting your money's worth. The Jalapeño has a nice, warm piquancy while the Cheddar gives a dairy fermented undertone. The julienned red and green bellpeppers are pleasantly al dente; the onions are caramelized to bring out their sweetness. It's all sautéed in an agrodolce/sweet-sour sauce along with a touch of garlic. 1a) Side dish: Nice little garden salad including green lettuce, diced purple onion, chopped tomato, grated carrot. Chose blue cheese dressing to use for the "Buffalo Burger". 2) "Buffalo Burger" is extra finely ground, plush, velvety Bison meat. So when I ordered it medium rare, the patty turned out mushy. Next time, I will order it medium to firm up and give more of a chaw to the meat. Opted for two slices of not too crispy, meaty bacon. Mayo, tomato, green lettuce leaf, grilled onions, cheddar cheese, dense brioche bun. I spread on the blue cheese dressing to give a little funk to what I thought would be the blood minerality of the Bison meat. It's another substantial dish. 2a) Side dish of standard French fries which was crisp as requested although it didn't quite have that ineffable earthy, mildly sweet, potato flavour 1-2a) Allegiance India Pale Ale, Lancaster CA was a good counter to both food items. Dry, heavy bodied, fruity with scents of orange zest, lacquer, touch of cleansing acidity. 49'er doesn't leave you hungry so didn't have enough room for dessert. I took the Elk sausage home and made sandwiches for two meals. So eating at the 49'er isn't as expensive due to the big portions. 4 stars

We came at opening and the restaurant got really busy during our time there. Initially we were looking at the sandwiches because it was lunch time, but then we were going to a wedding that night so we decided to eat something more filling since the ceremony and speeches always delay the eating. All entrees here are served with black beans and rice or congri, and 3 fried plantains. My boyfriend had the Ropa Vieja ($28) with the congri and I had the Lechon Asado ($25) with the rice and beans. Our food came out pretty fast after we ordered. My boyfriend's Ropa Vieja is a Cuban braised beef. The congri is basically a mix of the rice and beans. This dish was super tasty and the shredded beef was so tender with the bell peppers and onions. I can really taste the red wine and tomato sauce in the base. I took a few bites but in general I preferred my dish more, and vis versa he enjoyed his dish more. My lechon asado is a roasted pork that is super super tenderrrrrr. It was so sweet with the grilled onions and it had the perfect amount of fattiness without being over bearing. SO GOOD! Love the plaintains too. I'm glad I got the rice and beans option because I would have gotten too full too quick with the congri. I barely touched my beans and only got through half of my rice. Both dishes came with this super tasty garlic butter sauce that I poured on my rice and made it even tastier. It was so good. One thing I didn't enjoy about the experience was the flies attacking us and our food. Since the door is open and connected to their outdoor space, it leaves the opportunities for flies to come in. We had to play defense with the flies the whole time. The service here is a little slow. Especially when I was trying to get back on the road I wasn't feeling too patient. I waived down multiple staff members too. Also I got hit with an undisclosed 3% surcharge for using my credit card. I only found out after I got the receipt. I would have paid in cash if I knew. *dislike* LOVE LOVE LOVE the food. Might be the best Cuban food I've ever had... and I've been to Florida where there was a lot of Cuban spots. Decided to try this place for Mother's Day. Surprised it wasn't busy at all. The service was awful! Had to ask for everything. Excuse me sir..... Can I have silverware?...:...can I get some more water?........can someone find our waiter so we can get the check?.......have you seen our waiter? .......Any chance we can get some more salsa? After waiting for him to come pick our payment for almost 10 minutes we decided to dig through our wallets to come up with exact change so we didn't need to wait anymore (yeah that's right we didn't even leave a tip). As we are leaving the restaurant we see our waiter sitting in the bar watching TV. Maybe if the food had been good we would consider trying it again and hope for a better waiter. But the food was salty and overall just OK. We will not be back. What a bummer of a Mother's Day. read more

I've been here twice, and both times the staff were friendly, the food was good, and prices were reasonable. There is a nice bar area when you walk inside. Plus a dining area with comfortable booths to the left. They also have an outdoor covered patio area at the back of the restaurant that I'd like to try next time. Good parking spaces on site. The staff have been friendly and welcoming, even when we brought the 18 month old twins in tow. We've also ordered takeout, which has also been a good experience. I keep going back and forth, is this a five star restaurant or what ? In the end I will have to say it is not the fanciest place, best ambiance, etc. What they do have is a solid offering of real authentic Mexican food that seemed to be all prepared with quality fresh ingredients. So do not come here if you are looking for a beautiful place, come here if you are looking for excellent food and fantastic prices, their service deserved 5 stars as well. read more

La Cabana is really out in the middle of nowhere but if you so happen to be making a trip, it worth the stop. The portion size is very good and the staff is very quaint. If you are not dining alone, I would recommend splitting a main dish and getting a few sides. The plates are really huge and if you are like me, a doggy bag isn't what you want in your car for the next 2 hours. read more

The food is good, the staff is friendly, and YOU CAN RIDE YOUR HORSE UP TO THE HITCHING POSTS AND NOT WORRY ABOUT HOW MANY MARGARITAS YOU HAVE! Your pony will get you home. Most local trail rides end up at La Cabana for a bite to eat and a huge ICE-COLD schooner of beer. Love this place. read more
