The carnitas burrito was one of the best I've ever had. Not to be outdone by the delicious salsa brought to the table. I've eaten a lot of Mexican food and this tasted like it was made with care and fresh ingredients. Our party of four included a 5 year old; the server was patient and he checked on us a number of times. I don't always have time to write reviews while on vacation, but when I noticed the low-star reviews it made me want to express the great experience and food I had. It must be so hard to own a restaurant in the day of social media where people mostly write when they're grumpy. I hope more people will share their positive experiences here too. read more

I cannot express to tell you how upset and disappointed i am with this place as i travel through the U.S i like to stop at different places and this place has been over the worst and i mean by far the worst and i have gone to very many places. To start off the front door is loose and slammed on me when i walked in and the guy seating me gave me a dirty look. He sits me by the entrance and i see now why people complain about it its a horrible area in the entrance to stare at a wall! They are extremely pushy and rude! Stopped in here as it was a Monday night and not much was open. After some searching for the door (it's on the left side), I was seated by a pleasant woman. The menu is huge for such a small dining room. I opted for the Steak and Shrimp Rajas as I wanted something besides the standard taco/burrito/enchilada. The steak and shrimp were cooked perfectly and the poblano cream sauce was very tasty. I live in Arizona and this restaurant would be popular there. Alpine is lucky to have it. read more

I've lived in New York and San Diego for years and have had my fair share of excellent burritos, but the Fiesta Burrito at La Cabana blew everything else out of the water. Nothing is anywhere close. Came here after the dining room closed, but the drive up window was still open. I ordered 3 street tacos (steak, carnitas, and the campechano) which were a pretty good size and my girlfriend ordered the steak chimichanga. My favorite was the carnitas taco. This was a great find while visiting The Palisades reservoir. Doesn't look like your typical Mexican restaurant on the outside. Or the inside for that matter, but we were pleasantly surprised by the interior decor. The steak fajitas, Carne asada street taco, & complimentary chips with green salsa were awesome. I love their breakfast, but these folks need to update their hours and show some consistency. Their hours are listed as 9am-9.30pm, 7 days a week. I called after 10 am on Sunday and no one answered. Same thing today, 10.45am and no answer. Why serve breakfast when it's almost 11am and they're not open? I have asked for them to clarify their hours in the past and was told that because they have a limited number of employees, they open whenever someone gets there in the morning. My question : why advertise your hours when you are not open for 2-3 hour after it says you are? The food is good but the fact that I never know when I can order food. I honestly don't mind if they don't open til the afternoon, just clarify that so I don't call to order breakfast. read more

After eating Mexican food all over the Southwest, and including Mexico we feel we're pretty good judges of Mexican cuisine. However, Southwest Wyoming was not a place we expected to find it. How wrong we were. First impression was how authentic the place looked. Real Mexican decor, smelled delicious, big heavy wood tables and chairs and most importantly, we were the only Gringos in the place! When lots of Latinos are eating at a Mexican joint, you know it has to be legit. So down to business. First the chips were homemade and instead of typical tomato salsa, they served a great tomatillo sauce. Very refreshing and light with just a hint of heat. Next the house margarita was great! Another good sign. If you can't make a decent house margarita, I hold out no hope for the rest of the menu. We decided on the street tacos; neither of us are big on rice and beans so we usually order a la carte. We got carnitas, grilled chicken, grilled fish (mahi mahi), chorizo and carne asada tacos. Everything was great, however the carne and chicken were slightly dry. But everything had great flavor. We would come back to this place regularly, except we live hundreds of miles away. Worst customer service ever! If I could give it zero stars I would... I walked in with my family of four and they seated us in a three top we felt crammed when we asked to get a four top she said it was reserved mind you there was multiple four tops..there was absolutely no one in the restaurant yet they didn't let us sit in a proper four top there was four of us. After the lady was extremely rude we decided to leave and on the way out she sarcastically shouted have a great day Thank you. If you're looking for a meal that will give you energy and feel good after, this isn't your place. Now, the chips are amazing. They are thick, warm, and super crunchy. As for the portion sizes, they are very big. I have had the nachos, fajitas, and quesadillas and split them both. The fajitas, I won't be getting again. They were not fresh tasting at all, and the meat was very cheap cuts. Been here 3 times now, so maybe when I got the fajitas it was just an off day. Asked questions about enchiladas and chimichanga. Ordered enchiladas but served chimichanga. Oh we'll need to split meal and get to appointment. "steak" in chimichanga tasted strange. As we started eating we noticed the tabled top was wood slats packed with old dried food. When wiping the table, left over food was pushed into the spaces between the slats. OKG what filth. Food is excellent BUT the staff is incredibly and unnecessarily rude. We've come in multiple times for the last three years every time we are in Alpine (again, because the food is good and frankly the rudeness was humorous), but now it's jist unacceptable. Do they even want customers. Angry signs all over the restaurant and the music is obnoxiously loud. But the consistently rude staff is a shame. We were pleasantly surprised by this place! We are from Arizona and California so we have ate at plenty of amazing Mexican places. Salsas were great, (they were out of guacamole though). This is the second time we've been here, the same server/ greeter has been extremely rude! We asked if she could accommodate a group of 9, barked at us and said only 7, told us it would be 15- 20 min wait. We head outside to wait, she slams the door and locks it on us! It's 6:45 pm We come in here and feel like we're an inconvenience. So we walk to the To go window and let them know we're leaving because of the rude service we got! we've been here twice before and had great service by the male server during the day and the nice girl with short hair. We were hungry traveling back to slc from Jackson Hole and spotted other yelp reviews pointing us here. This little Mexican joint is a repurposed log cabin serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. It's cozy and casual with a decent-sized menu. Speaking of which, the menu itself is difficult to read and the dim lighting doesn't help. Chips were fresh and warm but if you don't like green chili salsa you might be disappointed. My daughter and I split the large plate of "fiesta fajitas" while my boyfriend ordered the Chipotle penne chicken but we shared everything. I was surprised that all they provided was one microwaved large flour tortilla torn in half to go with our plate. Once that was gone we used the chips to finish off what was left instead of paying extra for another flavorless, tough tortilla. The beef and chicken pieces were of the lowest quality ( the shrimp was fine) and though the dish's description included mushrooms, onions and peppers we never saw a shroom. The Chipotle was spicy and tasty but again the chicken was meh. Next time we head through Alpine we might stop in for breakfast or a drink and chips but just might skip dinner. read more

Very RUDE staff, Food is mediocre at best and expensive. I have given this place multiple chances, and I really wanted to like it and support a small business, especially in Alpine where dining is limited. I would rather drive to Jackson, Afton, or even Idaho Falls before I EVER give this place another dime. Skip this poor excuse of a restaurant and go to the Taco Bus instead (Right next door at the Three Winds Motel). I will tell everyone I encounter to avoid this place. We've eaten here a few times now and we keep coming back. What I like are the chips with the green salsa. Totally different than your normal salsa you get at most Mexican. Restaurants. This stuff tastes fresh and delicious. I really like the carne asada tacos here. They are the traditional style which I enjoy, not the Americanized version you get at a lot of places these days. I'm not a big fan of their rice or beans, but I'm picky in that regard, the rest of my family likes them both just fine. If you're in Alpine this is a great place for sit down Mexican food. read more

Ok, so this place is hard to review. Great Food - Bad Service. We were going to a taco place in a converted bus, but it had been shut down so we saw this next to it and decided to give it a shot. First, the door is on the side and unless you know where it is you feel a little silly looking for it. Then when you walk in it says "seat yourself" but the tables are in several rooms so you are meandering around looking for a table. The servers whisking by you aren't very helpful at all. We finally set at a 6 top in the corner next to the very loud speaker... they really need a hostess. We then waited for what seemed like forever before a waitress or waiter even acknowledged us. If there were a ton of restaurant options in the area I may have walked. When she finally did come she was kind and was also considerate enough to cut the speaker down for us. We ordered our food - Jack a steak burrito and Mama and I both got the house fajitas. The fajitas were huge and we really should have split one, but oh my they were good. The food was some of the best Mexican food I've had in a while. The chips and salsa not so much and they don't have cheese dip, but the entree was out of this world. So go if you have plenty of time and don't care about the chips - the food is amazing, they just need alot more staff to make you actually feel welcome and to not be there FOREVER. read more
