Wow! Be sure to arrive just before sunset so you can enjoy the incredible view!! We walked 6 blocks from our hotel on the Rio Cuale, and we were covered in sweat after walking up that big hill in the PV sunshine and humidity. It was very much worth the effort! The service was excellent, and the food was delicious. They celebrated our anniversary with a sparkler on our table, and they seated us right on the edge of the balcony with the best views of the city, cathedral and the bay. My boyfriend had booked this place a month in advance for our anniversary. Arriving to this establishment wasn't easy, we got stuck in the rain but it happens. Our server arrives and just goes straight to business. What do you want to do drink and blah blah blah okay. First thing I noticed was that he was very much accommodating to other tables and NOT to us. I didn't get a rack for my belongings as the other tables did. We didn't get our basket of bread before our appetizers as we looked over the menu and we did not get refills for our waters. As the night goes on, we were never checked up on regarding out food or anything. It was very noticeable that he did not want to be serving us. What really tipped me off is the fact that we paid for this experience. We did not get anything special to help us celebrate our anniversary. A table behind us did. All the other tables got their celebration acknowledged. I had to go speak to the manager and make a verbal complaint to which they served us mildly cold champagne and a plate that wrote "Happy Anniversary" with sweetened condensed milk. Nice. To add to this, this establishment had its own private photographer. We spent over an hour at this restaurant. Not once did he come over to take our picture. I was more than willing to pay but I guess they like to pick out the people they want to serve ‍ He took pictures of other tables multiple times and never once acknowledged us, on our anniversary. The cherry on top was the manager of the night. Not once did he come to our table to see if we were doing alright or needed anything else after I made a verbal complaint. As we walked out, nor did he apologize or recognize the mistake they had made this night. Bottomline is, you can pay for and get anything you want in Mexico. This was overly mediocre Italian food with terrible customer service with very entitled and unaccommodating employees. Get your money and times worth elsewhere. read more

Aside from the OBNOXIOUS table of swearing, hooting, ignorant rednecks that required us to change tables to a different section of the restaurant, our meal was to die for. As a starter, we ordered the cheese plate, which was absolutely lovely. For a main, I had the filet with the goat cheese stuffed poblano smothered in a cream sauce. The filet was tender, and the pepper was out of this world. I would happily drown in that sauce. The staff ensure that service is phenomenal, considerate, and non-obtrusive. To say nothing of the STUNNING views from every single place in the restaurant. One of the best restaurants and most beautiful experiences I have ever enjoyed. read more

One of the best dining experiences we've ever had. La Capella is nestled in a small street few blocks above the city center. It has immaculate views, food, drinks, ambiance and service. Great for a date spot or as a part of your vacation with family and friends. Johnny, our server was an immaculate host who provided us with great suggestions for entrees and starters. I could list only a few items that we ordered but that wouldn't be accurate to how amazing all of their dishes were. The good- absolutely great views of the church and bay. Nicely decorated in an Italian motif. They had violinists come in around 9 pm and played an amazing assortment of songs for about 40 min. My chicken piccata was very good. My wife is vegan so they made her a dish with penne pasta she enjoyed. The hostess was great. The restaurant/Hotel was just beautiful. You can find reasonably priced wine or you can pay $800 US for a $100 bottle of wine. Up to you. The not so good- parking can be a hassle. Not mentioning the bottle of water the waiter poured us was $7.. I don't even drink water. I thought it was complimentary like every other restaurant in town Our waiter was inattentive. Took awhile to take our order, didn't check on us when the food came out. Only seemed interested in us when the check came. We've been in Mexico 2 months. We have eaten here dozens of times and the food is pretty good. Yes, pretty good - not amazing like I see some people here on yelp are saying. The beautiful view of the bay and the violinists are what make this restaurant special. But now they have opened a new floor downstairs from the main dining room and the view from most of the tables down there is not very good. And the violinists did not make their way downstairs very much - there is really just too much ground to for them to cover. So if you are unfortunate enough to get seated on the lower floor this restaurant is really not special at all and will seem over-priced for what you get. One other issue I've always had with this restaurant is that the wine list is extremely overpriced. And corkage fee if you bring your own wine is 750 pesos (about US $45 !). read more

Polpo alla griglia and Fettuccine Alfredo were each 5/5 here. Also had the best Caesar Salad of our trip, made the correct way with real anchovie. The service, food, and view here are all excellent. There was even a live violin accompaniment with dinner, which elevated the entire experience even further. If you are arriving prior to sunset, make sure to bring your sunglasses so you can fully appreciate the amazing view. Go at sunset and you will not be disappointed! The ambiance is heavenly with church bells going off, the sunset, the ocean and the LIVE MUSIC. We had violins last night and I wanted to take them home with me so they would never stop. It was perfect music. Ok now the food. DELICIOUS. This spot has the BEST view in PV. I'd suggest getting a reservation for 6:30 pm. The sunset will cast around 7pm which gives the most STUNNING photos from the rooftop vantage point. We came to La Cappella for our anniversary and were just awestruck by the amazing views! In a word, breathtaking! We came about an hour before sunset and watched as the sun set in Banderas Bay. Now, onto the food. First however, service was impeccable, as it should be for this caliber of restaurant. Both friendly and attentive without being cloying. The food- started with calamari and caprese salad. Both well executed and the pesto on the caprese worked well. The calamari was accompanied by cocktail sauce and some sweet mustard sauce. I would have preferred something else as this brought the dish down. This was followed by chicken piccata and the filet of beef. Both seasoned well and presented well also. I don't recommend beef in Vallarta as it is just not common here and probably won't exceed expectations. As it was our anniversary, we got a 'surprise' chocolate flourless cake with a sparkler and it was a nice touch. As all the reviewers mention, this is an occasion restaurant. The neighborhood is Liz Taylor'esque Taylor and Richard Burton as both street names, so the nostalgia of an older and established area belies its elegance and the views, again of the cathedral and amazing. Yesterday we went to La Cappella to celebrate my daughter's birthday. A big thank you to David, Julio (our server), the staff, and especially the trio of violinists who came to play at our table and also played the birthday song when they brought out a piece of cake. The food was delicious, especially the pomodoro soup that Julio recommended for us. We have been to many fancy restaurants on our vacations but this is one of the best ones that we have been to. The view is top notch, the food is so delicious, and the service is excellent. The ambiance and the music made me feel like I was sitting in a restaurant in Italy (where we went during the summer of 2019). This is the highlight of our trip so far. AMBIANCE - Stunning view of Our Lady of Guadalupe, strolling violinists, amazing food, great service. Very reasonably priced for the atmosphere, quality of food and service. The ONLY gripe I have - I reserved months in advance and was not seated at a table overlooking the view, but three table rows back when they weren't that busy. In May, the low season, there is no way that the others dining there had booked that far in advance. We had a 6:15 reservation and were sat on time and offered chilled towels to cool us down from the heat of the day. From beginning to end we never felt rushed which can happen in a smaller venue. The views were breathtaking, the food was delightful and the violinist that started at 7:15 were so romantic. Highly recommend.
