    3 meat combo
    Brandi P.

Phenomenal!!! Listen I'm not a huge BBQ person but when I crave it I want the best. So let's get into it, I got the 3 meat combo. Ribs, brisket and tri tip. I appreciated my waitress asking if I preferred fatty or lean. I got the baked beans, elite corn (YUM) and I dove into some honey glazed burnt ends. Baby when I tell you all this meat is tender, seasoned to perfection and juice ooozing out believe. I loved the food so I ordered a tray to take home to my family. Crazy part is I've been looking at this place for months. Im so happy the smoking king disappointed me otherwise I would have never found this gem. Now to make it even better my waitress Fatima was super sweet, super informative and very knowledgeable about their menu. She made the experience even better becuz when I walked in I was hangry and frustrated. Within 10mins my whole mood changed. Thank you Fatima. Place is good for goods or fly solo like me. Either way you wont be disappointed.

Meal for Two - Brisket, Ribs, Shrimp with brussel sprouts and loaded baked potato
    Jenn C.

Came here to satisfy BBQ cravings and ordered the meal for two, which came with three meats and two sides. For meats, we went with brisket (moist part), ribs, and shrimp. The brisket was the clear standout. It was perfectly tender, melt-in-your-mouth, and smoked with pecan wood so the smoke flavor was there but subtle and not overpowering. The ribs were flavorful and had a good bite, though a few sections were a bit tougher than others. The shrimp was also well-smoked, which isn't always easy to pull off without drying it out. We also had an order of tri-tip and it tasted like a good smoked steak but not as flavorful and tender as the brisket. Sides were solid and a little more interesting than your standard BBQ lineup. The honey-glazed brussel sprouts were unique and surprisingly good, and the loaded baked potato with brisket was massive and filling, with generous brisket pieces mixed in. Ambiance is very much BBQ sports bar vibes, and it's cool that they have the smoker indoors in the kitchen. Everyone was friendly and attentive, water glasses were constantly refilled without us having to ask, and our server patiently answered all of our questions. Overall, a great spot for quality smoked meats with good service and a relaxed atmosphere. Would definitely come back for the brisket!

Been trying to find a replacement for my previous love of Hambones that closed in Huntington Beach, and unfortunately this place wasn't it Got a two meat plate with links, ribs, mac and beans. On this place, ribs were better than the links (which weren't hot at all) and beans were way better than the mac. Both meats weren't anything to write about, mac was very much so "white people mac" with no flavor and unnecessary bread crumbs. Best were the beans. DoorDashed so can't speak to service or ambiance, but won't be back.

Taco Tuesday happy hour We stopped by for their Taco Tuesday. Before 6 PM, you can sit anywhere, but if you plan to stay later, you'll need to be seated in the bar area. When we arrived, the bar was already full, so we sat at one of the small tables nearby. There was a bit of a wait to order. We tried the shrimp, fish, asada, and carnitas tacos, along with the yellow chile, HH Smash Burger, and a Shiner Bock. Out of all the tacos, the shrimp taco was the best. The others were just okay. The BBQ flavors didn't really come through, the meat wasn't very smoky and lacked flavor, so I wouldn't recommend those. The staff was friendly, but the bar area gets busy, so there can be a wait to place an order. The happy hour menu is pretty limited overall. I'd mainly recommend the shrimp taco and the yellow chile. Wife got a FEAST! She ordered the Brisket, Ribs & Sausage with coleslaw. Her eyes lit up on first bite, she exclaimed it was the best most tender brisket she's ever had. "Best meal all year." Currently they serve a couple items all day every day like pulled pork sandwich & brisket sandwich. Until the BBQ ramps up a bit more it's limited until it runs out daily so get it while you can OR goto their Costa Mesa location. They also offer catering it's on their website.

    3 meat platter - $24

Hole Smokes is located in Costa Mesa and specializes in BBQ meats. Brisket is their most popular meat but they have several other options as well. I opted for the 3 meat platter. (3 meat platter - $21 + $3 upcharge for brisket) - For my meats I went with brisket, shrimp, and chicken. A side was included so I went with the cole slaw. The shrimp was a little disappointing it didn't have much flavor. The chicken did have a bit of smokiness and wasn't bad taste wise. However, I was impressed with the brisket, it was juicy and flavorful. They had 3 BBQ sauces - regular, spicy, and a mustard based one that I really enjoyed. Overall, I did enjoy the brisket but wasn't too impressed with the other meat options. Service was friendly and it's good size restaurant with inside as well as patio seating.

Stopped on a random late afternoon to watch the NBA playoffs. Good for a solo dolo sitting. Service was great at bar. She helped me decide on the top choices. Fried pickles are your typical bar food option with extra batter. The meat however was mid and came out slightly warm. Was expecting it to be hot. Needless to say, I won't be coming back.

I ordered the Smash Burger, Mac n cheese and French fries. The Mac n cheese was pretty good with bread crumbs on top and the French fries were nicely fried and crispy but the burger was kind of bland. It was $13.25 which is expensive for what it is. Definitely better off with burgers at In N Out and save some money. The parking lot is shared with several other businesses like The Habit and Hole Mole and it can get pretty crowded.

The service was incredible, maybe it was because we were one of the only people there. Anyway, the food was also very good, however, some of the brisket was very dry. Besides that, everything was amazing.

Came in here randomly a few months ago and was pleasantly surprised by the happy hour and smell of smoke. I had a really good wedge salad and a burger. Beers were nice and cold, clean tasting, and the service was great. Very friendly, left satisfied

3 meat and 2 side plate for two ($40) Brisket, link and pork ribs w/ slaw & beans - Very good

My golf crew and I decided to drop by nearby Holé Smokes, and we were glad we did. Its located on Harbor & Adams in CM. One of my buddies and I shared a 3 meat, 2 side platter. First of all, the brisket was a little lean for our palates. As a result, it was a tad dry. On the other hand, the link and pork ribs were moist and nicely seasoned. We were offered three sauces: Regular, honey mustard and spicy. I tried the regular and spicy, and found that both accented the meat well. Likewise, the sides were very good. The beans were cooked for a long time and were nice and soft. There was the right amount of dressing for the slaw. It was not too much, which tends to make the cabbage soggy: Lastly, I had a bite of my other friend's brussell sprouts, and they were seasoned well & crispy. Regarding the ambiance, there is a bar as you walk in. They serve beer, margaritas, micheladas and wine. You can smell the pecan & oak wood when you walk in. There is indoor & outdoor seating. Our waiter was really nice and efficient. He explained the menu to us, and our food came out quickly. Our iced teas snd diet coke were refilled in a timely manner. HS is on our rotation for after round lunch. They offer hearty food, at a reasonable price, all in a casual setting. The foregoing is perfect for us after we finish golf.

The lot was full, and the line stretched past the front patio and onto the sidewalk. We ended up parking a couple of blocks away and walking over. Despite the long line, it moved at a reasonable pace. One thing that helped was being able to grab drinks from the bar while we waited. They have a great selection of beers and seltzers, and it looked like a lot of people were picking up to-go orders as well. For our meal, we ordered the 4-6 person platter, which included beef cheek, tri-tip, ribs, sausage, chicken, pulled pork, six sides, cornbread, rolls, and pickles. We also added the 5-cheese mac and cheese. Everything was flavorful and there was more than enough food for our group. The sides were excellent. We tried the pit beans, pee wee potato salad, carne con chile, farro salad, and wild rice salad. My favorite was the warm potato salad with mustard, brown butter, capers, and dill...it was unique and absolutely delicious. The restaurant offers lots of seating with outdoor dining areas both in the front and back. They also have a private room with windows overlooking the main dining room. During our visit, it was hosting a private party of about 20 people. The kids loved their root beer floats, and by the end of the meal we were way too full to even consider dessert. That's definitely something we'll have to come back and try next time. Overall, the food was worth the wait, the atmosphere was lively, the world cup was playing on the tvs and even on one of the busiest days of the year the staff kept things moving smoothly. We'll definitely be back.

While searching for reservations, I came across Manpuku Japanese BBQ. I honestly didn't know much about it, but a handful of photos immediately caught my attention. Something about the presentation, atmosphere, and quality of the food made me curious enough to give it a shot. I was fortunate enough to secure a reservation the day before and sent the restaurant a message letting them know we would be celebrating my wife's birthday. Right away they were accommodating, responsive, and excited to help make the evening special. Parking was probably the most difficult part of the entire experience. We happened to get lucky and grabbed a spot just as another car was leaving. If not, I believe there is additional parking available nearby, but thankfully we didn't have to worry about that. Walking into the restaurant was my first surprise. For some reason, I expected a large bustling dining room. Instead, Manpuku felt intimate and welcoming. The soft lighting and wood accents created a cozy atmosphere that felt perfect for a special occasion. The restaurant was also spotless, with clean and organized dining areas and grilling stations. Instead of seating us at a traditional table, we were escorted to a private-style dining area where we removed our shoes before stepping into the seating space. It immediately made the evening feel unique and added to the intimate atmosphere. Now let's talk about our server. Hannah was outstanding. Since it was our first visit, she walked us through the menu, explained the different cuts, discussed preparation methods, asked about allergies, and provided recommendations throughout the evening. She was knowledgeable, professional, and personable, making us feel genuinely welcomed. Her attention and care helped make my wife's birthday dinner memorable. For our meal, we selected the A5 Wagyu Omakase. The experience started with beautifully presented appetizers, including Uni and Beef Sashimi, Seared Beef Sushi, Japanese salad, kimchi, and several small bites. The seared beef sushi was rich and buttery, while the Uni paired wonderfully with the beef. The A5 Wagyu selections were the highlight of the meal. Chuck short rib, culotte, chuck roll, and inner skirt each offered distinct textures and flavors, all showcasing the richness and tenderness that make A5 Wagyu special. The quality was evident in both the presentation and taste. And then there was the A5 Umami Rice. Despite being part of a Wagyu-focused meal, it stood out as a flavorful and comforting dish that kept everyone reaching for another bite. The drinks were refreshing and paired well with the meal. One thing that made the evening even more special was being able to share the experience as a family. Between the intimate atmosphere, attentive service, and excellent food, it felt like more than just dinner. To top everything off, the staff surprised my wife with a birthday dessert presentation complete with a candle and thoughtful decoration. Seeing the smile on her face while celebrating alongside our daughter made the moment even more meaningful and reflected the hospitality we experienced throughout the night. For anyone considering the A5 Wagyu Omakase, come hungry. While the presentation is elegant, the experience includes multiple courses and a generous amount of food. By the end of the meal we were completely satisfied and felt that the experience justified the price. Exceptional service, quality ingredients, excellent food, and an intimate atmosphere made for a memorable celebration.

For those who say the marinade is too sweet, you can request to have it without the bbq sauce or perhaps sauce on the side. We opted for all of our meats to not be marinated with the bbq sauce since it is way too sweet for us, taking away the quality and actual taste of the meats. We opted for a light salt/pepper which is perfect. Out of the meats we tried, the short rib would be our favorite. The others were not as memorable. What baffled me was the $30 cake fee.. which is the price of a birthday cake itself. We were surprising our friends with a cake and were told it would be $30 to hold and serve the cake.... If we said no, then we wouldn't have been able to cut the cake and surprise our sweet friends. I'm shocked. I would've been fine with $10-$15 but $30?! The cake fee included 1 candle, a serving cake knife, serving plates and plastic forks... I saw a group come with a cake and they ended up not cutting it and just carrying it back home. If you plan a birthday or celebration here, don't bring your cake unless you want to pay $30.. kind of ruined the ambiance especially if you plan to surprise someone.

Don't expect your typical American barbecue. I loved the Asian inspired flavors- it added such a unique spin on American comfort food. This place was PACKED! I was told that, for some reason, they had cut about 50% larger portions than the menu specified (see the line items, which should have been 1 lb. each), so they charged me for the difference ($325.51 - $281.62) which was $43.89 (about 50% more for the 2 items they cut heavier). No, there was no mention when I placed the order that the total cost might change due to extra meat. Neither is it shown on their web site or printed menus. When I protested, there was no option. If I don't pay the $43.89 difference, I don't get the Mother's Day food. After about 20 minutes of bickering at the counter with two different clerks (note the time stamp differences on the credit card slips), I was given my original order, with a net price reduction of ($281.62 - $254.93) $26.69. My persistence had paid off. On a positive note, the cook did, twice, walk up to me and quietly apologize for what was going on. I know many folks would have folded in this situation, but that's not my nature. I don't stand for dishonesty. Yes, it was embarrassing, other clients in line were not happy (I let them skip ahead of me so as not to inconvenience them). None of them had price increases. I don't know if the clerks wanted a tip because the management doesn't pay them much, or it this goes deeper and is standard operating procedure that assumes most clients will simply approve of the overage and pay up. In any case, from this client's point of view, this is a SCAM! When it was all over, I took my 11 and 12 year old grandsons (who had been sitting patiently waiting for grandpa to pay) and my food package to the car, drove home and proudly presented the meat to my family. After all, I am a hunter-gatherer; and the food was great!

Wow apparently this place has been here for a while but I have not been at all until recently!…read moreDuring one of my usual stay over at the Westin nearby, my friend and I came here for dinner because we were craving soupy food and Yelp suggested this place which I was like... where is this?! Turns out it's at the same location at Made coffee, which I come also quite frequently! What a nice discovery for me! Food was really good! We got the seafood pancake, which was crispy and flaky and NOT overly oily at all like most other Korean places! I really liked this dish! Next was my Kalbi Tang, beef short ribs soup, so flavorful with two huge short ribs with bones, where the meat just fall off the bone easily. My friend got the spicy beef noodle soup, which she said was very spicy but very flavorful. Food was great but what really stood out was their service! I love everyone who worked there especially their servers and the nice young girl who was helping us, and young man! They are super nice, super attentive, super polite, and just wonderful people! I cannot recommend this place enough! If you're in the mood for Korean, or soup, or flavory good quality food, this is your place!!!
