3 Meats & 2 Sides Brisket Hot Link Pork Ribs

Amazing service and food. Our waitress was so friendly and nice. She explained the menu well and gave a lot of suggestions! You can tell that she loves her job and the food. My husband and I ordered: 3 meat platter (brisket, ribs, and link) with baked potato and Mac & cheese, honey glazed burnt ends, and a side order of corn bread. Everything was so good! The golden sauce is so good! I love the pickled onions with the meats. We will be coming back!

Phenomenal!!! Listen I'm not a huge BBQ person but when I crave it I want the best. So let's get into it, I got the 3 meat combo. Ribs, brisket and tri tip. I appreciated my waitress asking if I preferred fatty or lean. I got the baked beans, elite corn (YUM) and I dove into some honey glazed burnt ends. Baby when I tell you all this meat is tender, seasoned to perfection and juice ooozing out believe. I loved the food so I ordered a tray to take home to my family. Crazy part is I've been looking at this place for months. Im so happy the smoking king disappointed me otherwise I would have never found this gem. Now to make it even better my waitress Fatima was super sweet, super informative and very knowledgeable about their menu. She made the experience even better becuz when I walked in I was hangry and frustrated. Within 10mins my whole mood changed. Thank you Fatima. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Place is good for goods or fly solo like me. Either way you wont be disappointed.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Meal for Two - Brisket, Ribs, Shrimp with brussel sprouts and loaded baked potato
    Jenn C.

Came here to satisfy BBQ cravings and ordered the meal for two, which came with three meats and two sides. For meats, we went with brisket (moist part), ribs, and shrimp. The brisket was the clear standout. It was perfectly tender, melt-in-your-mouth, and smoked with pecan wood so the smoke flavor was there but subtle and not overpowering. The ribs were flavorful and had a good bite, though a few sections were a bit tougher than others. The shrimp was also well-smoked, which isn't always easy to pull off without drying it out. We also had an order of tri-tip and it tasted like a good smoked steak but not as flavorful and tender as the brisket. Sides were solid and a little more interesting than your standard BBQ lineup. The honey-glazed brussel sprouts were unique and surprisingly good, and the loaded baked potato with brisket was massive and filling, with generous brisket pieces mixed in. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance is very much BBQ sports bar vibes, and it's cool that they have the smoker indoors in the kitchen.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Everyone was friendly and attentive, water glasses were constantly refilled without us having to ask, and our server patiently answered all of our questions. Overall, a great spot for quality smoked meats with good service and a relaxed atmosphere. Would definitely come back for the brisket!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]This is a great casual BBQ place.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My husband and I got a meat please for 2 to share. You pick three meats - and two sides. Meats are well-prepared and smokey. Food is plentiful and we had left-overs. We both got Texas chili as a side - and it was delicious. It turned out they had non-alcoholic beer and we both enjoyed Heineken zero. There seemed to be only one waiter and it was a little hard to get his attention. [[HIGHLIGHT]]But - eh - it's casual and has a great vibe so 5 stars it is.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Definitely a do-again.

Been trying to find a replacement for my previous love of Hambones that closed in Huntington Beach, and unfortunately this place wasn't it Got a two meat plate with links, ribs, mac and beans. On this place, ribs were better than the links (which weren't hot at all) and beans were way better than the mac. Both meats weren't anything to write about, mac was very much so "white people mac" with no flavor and unnecessary bread crumbs. Best were the beans. [[HIGHLIGHT]]DoorDashed so can't speak to service or ambiance, but won't be back.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Taco Tuesday happy hour We stopped by for their Taco Tuesday. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Before 6 PM, you can sit anywhere, but if you plan to stay later, you'll need to be seated in the bar area.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]When we arrived, the bar was already full, so we sat at one of the small tables nearby.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] There was a bit of a wait to order. We tried the shrimp, fish, asada, and carnitas tacos, along with the yellow chile, HH Smash Burger, and a Shiner Bock. Out of all the tacos, the shrimp taco was the best. The others were just okay. The BBQ flavors didn't really come through, the meat wasn't very smoky and lacked flavor, so I wouldn't recommend those. The staff was friendly, but the bar area gets busy, so there can be a wait to place an order. The happy hour menu is pretty limited overall. I'd mainly recommend the shrimp taco and the yellow chile. Delicious food and great environment.

Great location. Great service. Amazing food. Run do not walk to get to Holy Smokes. For reference this is part of the Holé Molé family. This is a combined taco and barbecue restaurant. Amazing taco Tuesday deals. Fusion new items. Cool restaurant with TDs and a nice bar. Very clean and ready for a large party.

    3 meat platter - $24

Hole Smokes is located in Costa Mesa and specializes in BBQ meats. Brisket is their most popular meat but they have several other options as well. I opted for the 3 meat platter. (3 meat platter - $21 + $3 upcharge for brisket) - For my meats I went with brisket, shrimp, and chicken. A side was included so I went with the cole slaw. The shrimp was a little disappointing it didn't have much flavor. The chicken did have a bit of smokiness and wasn't bad taste wise. However, I was impressed with the brisket, it was juicy and flavorful. They had 3 BBQ sauces - regular, spicy, and a mustard based one that I really enjoyed. Overall, I did enjoy the brisket but wasn't too impressed with the other meat options. Service was friendly and it's good size restaurant with inside as well as patio seating.

Wife got a FEAST! She ordered the Brisket, Ribs & Sausage with coleslaw. Her eyes lit up on first bite, she exclaimed it was the best most tender brisket she's ever had. "Best meal all year." Currently they serve a couple items all day every day like pulled pork sandwich & brisket sandwich. Until the BBQ ramps up a bit more it's limited until it runs out daily so get it while you can OR goto their Costa Mesa location. They also offer catering it's on their website.

    French fries
    Kaylee L.

I ordered the Smash Burger, Mac n cheese and French fries. The Mac n cheese was pretty good with bread crumbs on top and the French fries were nicely fried and crispy but the burger was kind of bland. It was $13.25 which is expensive for what it is. Definitely better off with burgers at In N Out and save some money. The parking lot is shared with several other businesses like The Habit and Hole Mole and it can get pretty crowded.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Came in here randomly a few months ago and was pleasantly surprised by the happy hour and smell of smoke.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I had a really good wedge salad and a burger. Beers were nice and cold, clean tasting, and the service was great. Very friendly, left satisfied

The lot was full, and the line stretched past the front patio and onto the sidewalk. We ended up parking a couple of blocks away and walking over. Despite the long line, it moved at a reasonable pace. One thing that helped was being able to grab drinks from the bar while we waited. They have a great selection of beers and seltzers, and it looked like a lot of people were picking up to-go orders as well. For our meal, we ordered the 4-6 person platter, which included beef cheek, tri-tip, ribs, sausage, chicken, pulled pork, six sides, cornbread, rolls, and pickles. We also added the 5-cheese mac and cheese. Everything was flavorful and there was more than enough food for our group. The sides were excellent. We tried the pit beans, pee wee potato salad, carne con chile, farro salad, and wild rice salad. My favorite was the warm potato salad with mustard, brown butter, capers, and dill...it was unique and absolutely delicious. The restaurant offers lots of seating with outdoor dining areas both in the front and back. They also have a private room with windows overlooking the main dining room. During our visit, it was hosting a private party of about 20 people. The kids loved their root beer floats, and by the end of the meal we were way too full to even consider dessert. That's definitely something we'll have to come back and try next time. Overall, the food was worth the wait, the atmosphere was lively, the world cup was playing on the tvs and even on one of the busiest days of the year the staff kept things moving smoothly. We'll definitely be back.

While searching for reservations, I came across Manpuku Japanese BBQ. I honestly didn't know much about it, but a handful of photos immediately caught my attention. Something about the presentation, atmosphere, and quality of the food made me curious enough to give it a shot. I was fortunate enough to secure a reservation the day before and sent the restaurant a message letting them know we would be celebrating my wife's birthday. Right away they were accommodating, responsive, and excited to help make the evening special. Parking was probably the most difficult part of the entire experience. We happened to get lucky and grabbed a spot just as another car was leaving. If not, I believe there is additional parking available nearby, but thankfully we didn't have to worry about that. Walking into the restaurant was my first surprise. For some reason, I expected a large bustling dining room. Instead, Manpuku felt intimate and welcoming. The soft lighting and wood accents created a cozy atmosphere that felt perfect for a special occasion. The restaurant was also spotless, with clean and organized dining areas and grilling stations. Instead of seating us at a traditional table, we were escorted to a private-style dining area where we removed our shoes before stepping into the seating space. It immediately made the evening feel unique and added to the intimate atmosphere. Now let's talk about our server. Hannah was outstanding. Since it was our first visit, she walked us through the menu, explained the different cuts, discussed preparation methods, asked about allergies, and provided recommendations throughout the evening. She was knowledgeable, professional, and personable, making us feel genuinely welcomed. Her attention and care helped make my wife's birthday dinner memorable. For our meal, we selected the A5 Wagyu Omakase. The experience started with beautifully presented appetizers, including Uni and Beef Sashimi, Seared Beef Sushi, Japanese salad, kimchi, and several small bites. The seared beef sushi was rich and buttery, while the Uni paired wonderfully with the beef. The A5 Wagyu selections were the highlight of the meal. Chuck short rib, culotte, chuck roll, and inner skirt each offered distinct textures and flavors, all showcasing the richness and tenderness that make A5 Wagyu special. The quality was evident in both the presentation and taste. And then there was the A5 Umami Rice. Despite being part of a Wagyu-focused meal, it stood out as a flavorful and comforting dish that kept everyone reaching for another bite. The drinks were refreshing and paired well with the meal. One thing that made the evening even more special was being able to share the experience as a family. Between the intimate atmosphere, attentive service, and excellent food, it felt like more than just dinner. To top everything off, the staff surprised my wife with a birthday dessert presentation complete with a candle and thoughtful decoration. Seeing the smile on her face while celebrating alongside our daughter made the moment even more meaningful and reflected the hospitality we experienced throughout the night. For anyone considering the A5 Wagyu Omakase, come hungry. While the presentation is elegant, the experience includes multiple courses and a generous amount of food. By the end of the meal we were completely satisfied and felt that the experience justified the price. Exceptional service, quality ingredients, excellent food, and an intimate atmosphere made for a memorable celebration.

Looks like I was late to the game because they have been famous with articles from Eaters Magazine LA and The New York Times about Chef Winnie Yee, the Pit Madam. I think this is a new location they expanded to in the Cottage Industries newly developed area in Garden Grove. There is a small private lot off 9th street, but it's usually full, so you can find additional parking off 8th or 7th street nearby. I was helped by Swarna and she was so friendly, courteous and helpful. My boyfriend and I wanted to try a little bit of everything so we ordered 1/2 lb Brisket ($19), 1/2 lb Siu Yuk ($16), 1 Green Curry Sausage ($9), Mac and Cheese ($8), Tallow Fries ($8), and a Regular Fountain Drink ($3.50). We took the food togo, but everything tastes fresh and delicious. It did not affect the quality of the food. The one feedback I would like to give the restaurant is that it seems a bit stingy to only give us only one of each sauce when we ordered 3 meats. I didn't see this until we got home or I would have asked for more. It's hard to say which one was my favorite because both the brisket and the siu yuk were good. It was not only the flavor but the quality of the protein. The green sausage was a really nice fusion execution of a traditional American barbecue item. The sides were less exciting. I ate them and they were average but I don't feel like they live up to how great the proteins were. I would definitely order different sides the next time I come back. I've heard about their Asian and Texas-style BBQ fusion, so we were excited to finally give them a try. Walking in, the place immediately reminded me of some of the BBQ joints I've been to in the South. It has that casual BBQ patio vibe where the focus is really on the meats and sides. We ordered the 4 Meats + 4 Sides so we could sample a little bit of everything. For our meats, we got 1/2 lb brisket, 1/2 rack of pork ribs, 1/2 lb pork belly (siu yuk), and 1/2 lb char siu. I also added a sausage because I wanted to give that a try. Our favorites were definitely the brisket and sausage. The brisket had good flavor and was the standout meat for us. The sausage was also really good and something I would order again. The siu yuk had a really nice crunch from the crackling skin, but unfortunately the meat itself lacked flavor. The pork ribs were well seasoned, but ours were pretty dry and didn't have much meat on the bones. The char siu was interesting because it's definitely different from the traditional Chinese BBQ char siu you would get from a place like Sam Woo. I can appreciate their take on it, but it wasn't one of our favorites. For our four sides, we chose the tallow fries, shells and cheese, spicy cucumber, and cornbread. Honestly, the sides were all a hit. We enjoyed every one of them and would order all four again. The sides might have actually been the most consistent part of our meal. Service was good. The staff were helpful, friendly, and made the experience easy. The ambiance has that casual BBQ joint and patio feel, which fits the food perfectly. Parking is probably something to keep in mind. They have a small parking lot along with street parking nearby. We came on a Friday for lunch, but I can easily see parking becoming challenging on weekends when they're busy. Overall, Smoke Queen BBQ was an interesting experience. It wasn't the best BBQ my family and I have had, but it definitely wasn't the worst either. What makes this place stand out is the unique combination of Asian flavors with Texas-style BBQ. I'm glad we gave it a try, but for my family and me, this is probably a one-and-done spot.
