We chose the black beans, sting, rice, and sweet plantain. The chicken and beef empanadas were delicious and so was the Cuban sandwich it was plenty of food and we did chow down. Stopped in here for a $5 Mojito and it turned into $10 Mojito because you can't have just ONE!. It was very good prepared by our bar tender that was super friendly. Suggested we try the Ox Tail soup but we had lunch just a few hours ago. Saw it served to another table and man did I want to try it. I guess I will have to come back. We visited El Cristo as part of our food tour of Little Havana and it was delightful. Their back patio is a perfect spot for a meal. We were given beef empanadas with a green sauce. We stopped here as part of a food tour, then went back two days later because we enjoyed it. The empanadas were excellent, especially with the avocado cream and spicy salsa. The Cuban coffee was also delicious. Would definitely visit again. One critical note - during the tour visit, two of the hot sauce bottles on the table were under pressure, so when ours was opened, it started coming out slowly, but another table's bottle exploded into a guys eye when he opened it. It wasn't crowded early on a Saturday so four of us sat inside and enjoyed traditional Cuban breakfasts and cafe con leche. Everything was pretty good: The food, service and seating area. So we returned to Little Havana to grab some lunch. This wasn't our first choice, but the first choice was closed they day we were in the neighborhood. Cuban food. The server said "everything is good" when asked about the menu, which isn't very helpful. Not everything was explicitly Cuban, but he claimed it was "Cuban style". Also not very helpful. I ended up ordering the Bandeja El Cristo, and my wife ordered the Solomillo. Both were fine, but a little disappointing. The Solomillo was what appeared to be a stir-fry with a pile of rice/beans and a few slices of plantains. The flavor of the rice/beans was actually very nice. The "stir-fry" was nothing special. Meanwhile, my bandeja was a mixed bag. The tamale was almost all masa; very little filling. The rice was rice, the beans were black beans. Very basic, no seasoning. Then there were two cups with meat. Those were pretty good. I ended up mixing the rice and beans (which still wasn't as good as the rice/beans mix my wife was served), and the one meat with the tamale to make up for the fact there was almost no filling. The mango smoothie was all smoothie (i.e. creamy), and very little mango. My lemonade was better. All in all, a mixed bag of "pretty good" and "mediocre". And a bit pricey. read more

If you are ever in Miami little Havana, this is a must try. Authentic Cuban food was so delicious. The fried red snapper was destroyed by us. We ate all of it. Crispy on the outside but soft and tasty inside. Lechon Asano was crispy but tender. First time eating boiled yucca and surprisingly good. Love the sweet plantain with cuban Coffee. Plantain was not overly sweet just right. Their mojito though was my favorite drink. So refreshing with passion fruit and had fresh sugar cane. I walked up to the counter and asked the lady in the front for their most popular dishes. I told her I didn't know Cuban food.. she described a few dishes and then asked how hungry I was. It was very yummy and we loved everything in it. The potato sticks were new and interesting to us. I got the ropa vieja and I loved it. It came with two sides. I ordered fries and black beans and rice. The fries were a bit soggy so I recommend getting the other fun sides. The black beans and rice were AMAZING. I had the little churrasco, small grilled skirt steak that was cooked and seasoned well. It was tender and juicy. The maduro (beans and rice) had an unpleasant nuttiness from the undercooked beans. The empanada was average with a tomato stewed ground beef, and the mojito was a bit weak on rum. My waitress was not the most enthusiastic when she realized that we were not going to be enticed by her tourist food recommendations, like the sampler platter.
