So, a group of eight friends went to La Carreta yesterday for Cinco de Mayo. We went early to avoid the inevitable crowds that showed up later. Delicious refillable chips & salsa to munch on. We all had cocktails that were delicious. I enjoyed several Margaritas (I upgraded the tequila). My first complaint is that they were served in plastic cups-that's one of my pet peeves. I had a Fajita Quesadilla with chicken from the special menu that was very good. It came with rice & refried beans. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their meals. We were not rushed and the service was fine. My second complaint-we were not able to get separate checks. This made it very difficult to figure out what everyone owed. Three people paid with credit cards-the rest of us in cash. We all agreed that we would not return because of this major inconvenience. This is too bad because the food & drinks were really good. The atmosphere is typical for a Mexican restaurant. Plenty of seating in several rooms and the bar area. There was a DJ playing music. There is plenty of parking in a shared lot. I guess if you don't mind my complaints, La Carreta is an acceptable place to go for Mexican food. read more

Oh yeah, this place? I forgot to talk about this place. Probably because they were quite forgettable this go-around. Okay, okay...admittedly, we only came here for drinks because the place we actually wanted to have dinner at didn't have margaritas. And bestie loves margaritas, so.. Thing is, as soon as we mentioned this to our waiter, it's like the service got progressively colder and worse. I mean, we were still throwing them business (albeit, on a much smaller scale). Guess we won't be now. I'm glad I didn't want a second round. Because it took about 100 years for the guy to bring back the check so we could get outta there. I have no idea if the food here is even comparable to the Derry location. So, just know that this review is purely based on service and attitude. Oh, and the wage thing....I ain't touchin' that one with a 40 foot pole. 'Nuff said. La Caretta in Londonderry gets 2 underwhelming margaritas out of 5. Stick with the Derry location. Went to the Londonderry location for drinks. Sat in the bar. Atmosphere was great, as was the service. Margarita was unbelievable.

I bought a soda waiting for friends to show up. About 20 mins goes by and two people came in. I mentioned the two seats next to me were taken. The bartender said 'well you can't reserve seats' and 'you didn't even order a real drink'. Extremely rude and ended up leaving before the rest of my party arrived. Will not go back. read more

I walked in. I was not greeted by the gentleman at the desk "I said do you have room for two" he said follow me. He walked ahead put the menus down and then I had to find the table. It took 30 minutes for us to get drinks. Our waitress was very slow with her service at our table. We got there at 12:45 and we didn't get drinks until 1:15 that's also when we placed our order. Luckily this wasn't a workday lunch and we had to be back within 30 minutes because this would've been terrible. I've been to La Carreta Londonderry, on at least three or four occasions, every time the service has lacked at some point, but this lunch showed me that they just last respect and attention to detail when it comes to their customers. I went there Tuesday night and woman ( server ) was so rude again... it's like they are doing you a favor every time you ask them to order something. she was annoyed and after my son and I finished and spent $160 , I asked if I could take the rest of the chips to bring home ... I have been coming for years. It has been a family favorite. Me my daughter and her daddy absolutely loved it here. Now it's just her and I as he passed away. I have always had wonderful experience here, until just now. I am still here only because my daughter loves it and she already ordered her food. I will NEVER come back and it's a sad situation. Loved it here. The owners wife and the waitress are extremely rude in the most condescending way as they try to act like they are so accommodating. I have ordered the SAME EXACT THING every time I have been here. The waitress when I said my order said I don't know if we can do that. I said okay... it's what I always get, that's weird. She said she would ask if okay and get back to me. I said no problem. She came back and stated they will do it for me this once .... I'm just beside myself as it's what I always get. Did something huge change in 3 months since we last came here?! I'm just confused and I don't appreciate being talked down to and like I'm a huge problem when all I did was walk in, in a good mood, with my daughter, about to order the same things we both always get, and I get the rudest attitudes like I'm this big hassle when I don't think I could be more simple. I'm surprised by the rating for La Carreta. Their chips and salsa are amazing and I'm obsessed with the burrito grande (though that's the only thing I ever get, so I can't speak much to anything else). It's so delicious, I love the sauce, and I could probably eat it every day. I get it with the pork or chicken and it's always been great. read more

Large birthday party. Daughter got steak tacos, while bitting in to taco she stopped and was trying to get something from her mouth, it was a 2 inch bristle from the grill brush. Needless to say she could have swallowed it and been in serious trouble. Manager took the bristle from her before we could get a picture of it. I didn't realize this place was a chain when my friend recommended meeting here for a margarita and some food. And I am not usually a fan of chains. My friend had been to the one in Manchester and mentioned that this place was a lot different....different chips, different salsa, and different margarita mixes. If it is a chain, you would think that there would be some continuity in those things. Either way, $14 for a margarita in Londonderry, New Hampshire is absurd!!! I don't even pay that much when i am in the heart of NYC or when I lived in San Diego. And the second margarita I ordered was undrinkable even after I asked them to please fix it so I wasted $14. The food is another issue all together. I ordered the Baja Tacos with shrimp based on server recommendations but was not impressed. The shrimp was fried in a fish fry coating which was bizarre...overall it was a very unsatisfying experience and I wouldn't go back. read more

I enjoy La Carreta usually. However the last time my girlfriend and her mother ordered from there we got pick up due to covid. We wanted to try their new Quessabirria. However when biting into one my girlfriend's found hair baked into the shell. We messaged La Carreta about it politely and they did not respond. When addressing them about it on social media they deleted mine and my girlfriends comments and even blocked her from commenting On their page. Will not ever order from or eat there again. read more

We love this place. There is a nice variety of margaritas and we are addicted to the table-side guac. We have been ordering the family meals during Covid and we always have a ton of leftovers. We eat here frequently and the food is consistently tasty. We feel pretty lucky to have such great Mexican food locally! read more

La Carreta has always been and will likely always be my local Mexican chain of choice. Though the Manchester, NH location is my favorite, this La Carretta has always given good food and drink as well. I attempted the vegetarian dishes for the first time this week. The burritos with spinach, cheese and veggies were good very good! I don't think I would recommend the mushroom and cheese quesadilla which had a strange flavor. If Taco Bell sold booze they would put this place out of business. Definitely middle of the road Mexican food - really nothing special. Rice was bland, refried beans taste like paste & meat had no spice. Nursing home food. I usually sit at the bar and never had a service issue. I was try to place a large order for a family gathering, and unfortunately, this restaurant didn't get my business. Here's the reason: After ordering the $20.00 large guacamole, I asked for confirmation that chips were included. The answer? "No"! However, what made me cancel the order was when I asked for an order of 3 (basic) tacos which at any other Mexican restaurant are typically $5ish. They wanted $3 PER TACO; no sides, just the tortilla and scoop of meat. Sorry to sound like a curmudgeon but that stuff really annoys me. read more

My girlfriend and I went here for dinner last night. A waitress walked by and I looked up at her to see if she was our waitress as I was talking to my friend. Apparently, the waitress thought I was talking to her. As we went to leave I felt someone behind me like they were bumping into me. I turned around and the waitress and a large man were right behind me. I stopped and said " What are you doing?" because they were so close to me. The waitress said " you were rude to me". I said "excuse me?". She said "you told me to go F myself! " I said I DID NOT!!! She wasn't even our waitress and I never saw her other than her walking by once' Why would I say that!?" Then the large man started to push me out towards the door. He grabbed my arm and pushed me towards the door again. All this while yelling at me to get out of there!! I was in shock! Here we are just two middle aged women out for dinner and this happens!! The man was not a manager because he was very sloppy looking with a dirty tshirt on. He must have been Kitchen help. I have read other similar issues. I won't be going here again but they haven't heard the last from me! Never did I think I'd get assaulted by kitchen help because a waitress totally misunderstood and took something the wrong way!! No listening to what I had to say. Just threw us out! We tried the new La Carreta in Londonderry last night. What a disappointment! A few of our let downs: -The margs were small and pricey. -The service was very poor. All they wanted to do was ask us if we wanted refills on alcohol. -Meals: Baja tacos very dry- had no sauce at all. -Rice- dry and tasteless. -Beans- Not worth serving. They only had the yellow rice and refried beans. No white rice, or black beans to sub. Hubby's burrito was small and not filled, and tasteless. No one asked us how our meal was. THey came by but only to see if we wanted another beer/ marg. Chips and salsa was not replenished or water given. WE will stick to our usual Mexican restaurant, Plaza Azteca. read more

My boyfriend got banned because the restaurant got our order wrong. We cannot have dairy and my boyfriend specifically is vegan but every time we've ordered from them and specify "no dairy/cheese/sour cream" they still always put it on our food. So after we placed our order tonight he called just to make sure they got the note so that they wouldn't put cheese on our food like they've done every time so far. He went and picked up the food and when he got home we found that they STILL put cheese on the food, so he went back to get a replacement order and inform the manager that this has been a persistent problem. My boyfriend is the calmest person I've ever met and NEVER raises his voice or anything. The manager asked my boyfriend if he specifically called to ask them not to put dairy on the food to which he replied "yes," while the girl who he spoke to on the phone shook her head "no." The manager immediately took her side stating that "she has no reason to lie" and accused my boyfriend of lying. She absolutely had a reason to lie - she didn't want to get in trouble! My boyfriend is a very calm and honest man and the only reason he even asked to speak to the manager was simply to let them know about the issue we'd been having, he didn't aim to get anyone in trouble. He was calm and kind through the entire experience. But when the manager called him a liar my boyfriend was upset by that, so he put the replacement food down on the counter and said that he didn't even want it any more after being accused of lying because they got our order wrong. The manager yelled at my boyfriend not to "throw" anything at the girl who was working (which he ABSOLUTELY did not) and then followed him outside, took a picture of his car, and told him never to come back. Back at home, he went to eat his vegetarian fajita and there was CHICKEN in it! He ordered a vegetarian dish and they put meat in it. TLDR: My boyfriend is vegan and I am dairy free. La Carreta put cheese on our food and chicken in his vegetarian dish, then when he went back to get the food replaced they called him a liar and banned him from the restaurant. read more

My husband and I eat out a lot and I use to love La Carreta. However the last several times we have been there we have had the same server who is very inattentive. She never checked on us after our food arrived or asked to refill our drinks when they were empty. When we were done eating she took our plates and seemed to vanish. After about 10 minutes I had to flag down another server to get our bill. We used to enjoy going to La Carreta and typically had the same server in the past who we loved. I've been to most (all?) the La Carreta restaurants. They've been consistently good ... until I visited this one. The first several times I ate at this La Carreta it was pretty great! BUT, one of the last times I ate there we were "blessed" with an awful waitperson. She was completely disinterested in serving us: We sat for 15-20 minutes before she even bothered to take our drink order. More time passed before she brought them over, and then she disappeared for another 15 minutes before figuring out that we might want to order food. And then, another long wait for the food; unusual given that they are always VERY fast with getting food to the table. (I suspect our order wasn't even put in for prep until some time had passed.) Getting our check took another long wait. I'm gonna have to lay the blame for this awful experience at the feet of our server. Another issue: Their drinks are inconsistent. I ordered one drink, and it was great. The second one, of the same type, was awful - no alcohol, missing ingredients, or sloppy measuring. Who knows. I don't really care. But I do care about paying $10+ for drinks that are poorly made. The saving grace? The food is good and plentiful. The bad? The waitstaff is hit-or-miss; the drinks are sometimes fine and sometimes awful. Hard for me to recommend this place. La Carreta on South Willow Street in Manchester, and the one in Derry is much better! read more

My father ordered a combination plate of a burrito and a taco. They brought him enchiladas and a taco. He was easy going so didnt say anything. The enchiladas were so salty that they were inedible, so he asked if they could take them back and bring him more tacos instead. The man who brought out the tacos appeared to be management and said "I charged you extra for this for complaining." We laughed and thought he was joking until we saw the bill and saw that he charged an extra $3. This is not a good way to conduct business. read more

Pretty nice. We ordered a few day ago from them. Love the enchiladas! I did make a mistake in my order. I wanted just cheese l, but got pork on it... PLESANT Surprise! We dined here and had an excellent meal. Kids had cheeseburgers And kids quesadilla both were very good. We had steak and chicken fajitas. Really good. The beef and chicken were both seasoned and prepared perfectly. The vegetables were fresh and the guacamole was good and I definitely wish they had served us more it was appropriate size for the dish but it was one of the first things eaten. We will be back. Dissapoiting. How is that every other la Carreta can substitute refried beans for black beans. Also, what is with not being able to give two different checks, per couple? Sounds petty but I just feel as though this server was unwilling to help or listen to his customers. Didn't ask how the meal was, appeared to just want us out of there. It's 12:30 on a Saturday.
