Added gratuity of 15% with no prior knowledge

My son in law ate here for lunch, after he left he looked over his receipt and saw a charge for 15% gratuity, he had no idea the restaurant did this, I have never heard of this unless it's a large party and it's on the menu that they will charge gratuity for large parties, I called the restaurant and spoke to the manager who stated that yes her restaurant charges a gratuity for all parties no matter, I feel like this is stealing, because if you don't know about it and you also leave a tip, they are actually getting more of a tip, the lady said she would refund the gratuity back to the card and for my son in law to not come back to the restaurant, I hope this reaches out to people and find it helpful, he said the food wasn't all that good either.

Short review today. This place was good as it was the only place open Sunday. We had the enchiladas with chips and queso to start. Not the best I have ever had in my life but not the worst. Again it's a good spot in town as we were passing through and there isn't much to choose from.

    Just for a laugh.

I got fajita chimichangas. And the meat was so tough and gristly. Then the fried tortilla part tasted like old oil. But the kicker was that after I waited with an empty drink forever, they finally brought me another and there was a big bug in it. I called the owner/manager over and all he could say was "Do you want another one?"

Came here for our anniversary! Of course it's not the most fancy place for an evening out but the food was good and we would come back. Pricing was very fair! Service was okay. The lighting could have been better, it's a bit harsh and bright. The choripollo is super tasty! Great addition to gilmer!

Very disappointed in our experience at La Carreta. Our waitress seemed a little distracted, my daughter ended up with the wrong meal and we never got the appetizer we ordered. Most of the time we would just blow that off because hey we all have bad days but combined with the food, not a good combo at all. The food was the super disappointing. The fajitas were burnt and bland. My husbands only comment regarding the taco were that they were edible. The only positive thing I could say about our meal was that our youngest loved the kids cheese enchiladas.

Food is real good, I haven't had anything I didn't enjoy yet. The Chimichangas are by far my favorite.

The Allen location closed, and we have missed it. We have driven two and a half hours to Gilmer in order to relive our La Finca joy. the salsas are excellent. Ask for the green and brown, because they only bring red otherwise. All three are great. The veggie fajita and veggie enchiladas are top notch. Don't order anything with shredded chicken because it's dry. Beef tacos and steak fajitas are good. Queso excellent. Our server was shy which hindered her from being an excellent server, but we didn't complain. I'm looking forward to our next road trip! Viva La Finca!

I could buy a 12 pack of drinks for about $6-7 dollars at most places, yet it's $3 or $3.50 here for a fountain drink that might cost fifteen cents for them to make. $2 per drink would allow them more than enough profit. It's why many people are switching to water. Go back to charging $2 and you'll sell more and make more in the long run. My family would order drinks all the time for $2 each, but will continue to ask for water with lemon as long as these greedy places charge $3 and up for a Coke. 4 family members x 4 drinks at $2 each = $8 gross profit. 4 family members x 4 glasses of water = $0 dollars gross profit and pissed off customers who would have enjoyed the meal more and would dine out more often.

El Sombrero - ¡Muy Bueno!…read more What an incredible find! We're big fans of carnitas, and for years our favorite was Mercado Juarez in Arlington, Texas--we hadn't found anything that even came close after moving to East Texas five years ago. That changed tonight. We decided to try El Sombrero, and the carnitas were absolutely outstanding--honestly, even better than Mercado Juarez! The flavor, tenderness, and overall quality were just amazing. We can't say enough good things about this place. It's safe to say we've officially found our go-to Mexican restaurant in East Texas!

It took 50 minutes just to get our appetizers and the margaritas we ordered. After that, the wait only got worse. At 9:10 PM, we finally received 3 out of the 4 dishes we ordered. We didn't want our food to get cold, so we went ahead and started eating. We actually finished our meals before the last dish even came out -- and then it suddenly showed up after we were already done. Waiting that long for food, getting meals at completely different times, and having such slow service made this a really frustrating experience. I'm beyond disappointed. The only good part of the night was thinking the short wait for a table meant we'd have a good evening... but that definitely wasn't the case. Really hoping this was just a bad night, but this experience makes it hard to want to come back.

Next time we pass through here I would definitely call the order in via phone, as I know that would've cut down the wait time significantly. They were absolutely swamped on a Saturday night! I ordered the Hawaiina plate for the hubby, along with some Chicken Flautas to share, a Cheese Chile Relleno which is not my favorite but I think that is the only kind they make...2 Beef Gorditas. It doesn't sound like they use a lot of Cilantro even though the pictures show quite a bit on almost every plate. The young lady assured me that most everything comes with tomato onion and sour cream. The hubby prefers flour tortillas so that is what he got with his meal. His meal was very unique and was a mixture of tender fajita beef and chicken liberally sprinkled with cooked bacon topped with cheese. Easily eaten with tortillas but he enjoyed just eating it with a fork. He said it was very rich but delicious!!! They use a good quality flour tortilla but it is not homemade. I was the lucky one! My relleno came with corn tortillas per my request and they were homemade indeed and yes absolutely divine! The Red sauce had a lot of heat to it so I ended up saving it for when I get home so I have plenty of beverages should it be as hot as the first bite felt! It was sure delicious! The taquitos-Which is my name for them, (they are calling them Flautas, but in my opinion they were rolled small and tight and stuffed with delicious seasoned chicken. Had red and green sauce that accompanied them for dipping. Also had some shredded lettuce and then in a couple of thin slices of tomato and sour cream. These things were absolutely delicious and I ate every one of them! I didn't even share!!! The Gorditas were absolutely fabulous. So fresh, had just been put together, nice and warm and a very satisfying comfort food. Next time I will definitely try the sopas. And they were out of Agua Fresca's But I did get a Mexican Coke for the hubster which he appreciated.

The salsa is delicious and I love it, but it took me a minute to figure out the smell reminds me of stuffed bell peppers like my mom used to make!

This is a one stop shop for anyone who wants to experience shopping at an authentic Latino grocery…read more We love their little restaurant on the corner of the store where you can eat in or have food to go of authentic Mexican food. I love their street tacos carne asada, it's like eating from a taco truck in Guadalajara, Mexico. You can pair your tacos with their Mexican soft drinks literally in a glass bottle. You can have horchata or hibiscus tea. The breads? Freshly baked bread which is just .99 cents each. What more can you ask for? They have tres leches slices , flans.... All the postres you see in a carneceria! Their produce are always fresh , the meats I'm not a fan of but all the grocery items that you need and want are available. They even have some merchandise that you can only find there like authentic tortillas warmers, clay pots and plates. Ooohhhh, not to mention their Salvadoriqn Chorizos. I love that! Not to mention their freshly made tortillas which you can purchase at any given time! I also have tried their tamales , they are good and seasoned well. I normally make tamales twice a year but if I crave for some, I just go there to satisfy my cravings. The staff are all nice and accommodating, the whole store is clean and the prices of what they sell are affordable and comparable to other places. We definitely love this place! Nothing beats authentic Mexican grocery like La Victoria's
