    No meat!

Came here because it is my girlfriend's childhood restaurant, we ordered then sat down on our table. My in laws were excited as well but as we were chatting we saw people getting their food first before us. Then as we started to look more concerned the busser is the only employee who checked in with us. We finally got our drinks because of him. Waiter was nowhere to be seen. As waiter came to the table we received dirty napkins and spoons. When food finally arrived, it was cold so we had to wait a couple more minutes. Just my worst experience for my first time here. My burrito LITERALLY didn't have meat Also! The owner was a table behind us and I bet he was hearing us talk shit about this place and didn't say nothing. He was giving the VIP service to his buddies and the buddies were selling perfumes. He kept spraying cologne and perfume while customers were eating. I was eating at a Macys. HORRIBLE!!! Finalmente conseguimos nuestras bebidas gracias a él. Mi burrito LITERALMENTE no tenía carne ¡También! ¡¡¡HORRIBEL!!!

dang I was excited to eat the tamales and sopes. but they left some of my food out of the bag 4/5 on the chilaquiles the texture is very specific they are soggy which is my preference. my friend was not a fan which how I ended up with them The tamales were good queso tasted fresh. possibly Oaxacan cheese not sure staff spoke limited English but service was fine

You can see the mushy still raw smears of the tamale on the napkin .

First time trying this spot yesterday around 10:30 am , but got Tamales still raw from the center , I ordered rice and got no rice and burnt smushed beans .

Cute little restaurant. Most of the things are pre-made already. We ordered with our broken Spanish . Food is tasty, but I wouldn't drive all the way to here to have it. If I'm in the neighborhood then yea, I would go.

While the food is good the service is not. I am in the middle of placing my order but the lady ditches me and starts helping the person behind me. Um how about finishing what you started with me? Why'd another worker have to finish what you started? It was very obvious at that point that she preferred serving the Spanish speaking customers. On top of that, why are you checking people's temperatures after they have already been inside for at least 5 minutes or so. By then the damage has already been done. That's supposed to be down upon entry. It's very apparent this is just another check box for you. What's the point of having all these signs if you're not gonna practice the safety guidelines properly? There was an elderly man sitting at a chair for at least 10 minutes not having his face covered at all and not one word from the employees. Saying "they didn't see him" isn't acceptable when I saw them clearly make eye contact with him and speak with him. Just another place in Chicago where all the safety signs posted are all just for show. Customer safety isn't a priority here, money is. Let me know when you actually got your act together. No wonder our city is on lockdown again. Shame on you!

Visited this restaurant on Sunday the 15th. Was there to catch up with a longtime high school friend and was looking forward an authentic flavorful meal. As a Latino Hispanic with a passion for food, I look for hole in the wall adventures because they truly tell a story of the owners and families behind the magic. Yes, this was a hole in the wall, with authentic decor and vibe. Unfortunately I am presenting my review with 2 stars as the food lacked flavor and depth. The barbacoa taco I had was very greasy and season-less; if you are looking for a kick to your salsas, this won't be it. The rice had a mushy texture, and the chips seemed to be packaged, not fresh. I know and understand how hard it is to run a restaurant, I will end positively with the fact that even though the Al pastor taco did not have its traditional pineapple garnish, I do know that it was made to order fresh. I love local establishments, especially within my Latino community, and do hope that value can be found in my review for future improvements.

The place is small with a hard time to walk around when it's full. It's a nice bar restaurant and didn't realized until we were leaving that there's a back area. The bartenders could be a little more social and happy bc that seem a bit dull and unhappy working there. Unlike Martin he was happy. Mildred was our server and she did phenomenal. We stood at the door for about 20 minutes before someone finally told us the wait would be 1-2 hours. Keep in mind, the place is pretty small and already crowded, so there's barely any room to stand while you wait. After getting on the waitlist, we decided to go to a nearby spot for food--but not even 5 minutes later, we got called back saying our table was ready. When we returned, we were seated along the wall in a very tight space--so tight that if I stretched my arm out, I would've hit the person next to me. We noticed a large table nearby had been sitting for a while without food. When their food finally came out, it made us realize our wait would probably be even longer. After another 20 minutes passed and we still hadn't been able to order, we decided to leave. I'm not sure the space is fully ready for the rush right now--it feels overcrowded and service is slow. I'll give it another try once the hype dies down. I'm happy for their success, though--just be prepared to be patient when you go.

Starting with margaritas (because obviously ‍), queso and chips that were dangerously good, and the chicken empanadas that came out perfectly crispy with so much flavor. We kept looking at each other after every bite like "okay wait... THIS is the best thing here" and then another plate would arrive and prove us wrong again The carnitas fried rice??? I genuinely cannot stop thinking about it. So savory, flavorful, comforting, and packed with crispy carnitas on top with the eggs and pickled onions... literally unreal. And then the skirt steak tacos absolutely stole the show. The steak was cooked perfectly, packed with flavor, and paired so perfectly with all the toppings and sauces. Every single bite tasted fresh and homemade in the best way possible. And can we talk about the ambience for a second because WOW. The music, the energy, the vibe inside, everyone celebrating, the drinks flowing -- it felt like the perfect Cinco de Mayo dinner spot. The service was also AMAZING from start to finish and made the entire experience even better. One of those dinners where you leave already talking about when you're coming back If you're looking for the place to celebrate Cinco de Mayo, date night, tacos & margaritas, or honestly just an incredible dinner in general... this is IT

Appetizers were quac and chips, and shrimp ceviche. The guac was really good, but the ceviche was the star. Served on a bed of cucumbers, it was visually beautiful, and the flavor was fresh and complex. There was also a LOT of it. We ended up taking some home. Entrees were steak and shrimp for me, and Tampiquena for my friend. In both dishes, the steak was done to perfection. The sauce that came with my shrimp was spicy and deep--lots of flavor layers there. Both of us took home portions of our meals because there was a lot of food on the plates. Finally, the service--the servers are attentive without hovering. If we needed something, they were there, but never intrusive. It is hard to believe this is a little neighborhood spot, given the service and the quality of the food. It was not too busy tonight--we ate early--but I recommend reservations. It is very popular with the neighborhood. Bottom line, we each had 2 margaritas, appetizers, and entrees, and our bills with tip were around $105.00 each--totally worth it!
