We were in the mood for Italian so we tried this place out. They served some nice crusty bread, which we enjoyed during our long wait for our food. We started with stuffed mushrooms which were mediocre. My wife had lasagne which was overdone and not very flavorful. I had linguini and clam sauce. The clams were nice and tender but the sauce was bland and the pasta was undoubtedly from a box. I ordered a diet soda which was flat. I asked the waitress (who was rarely around) for another one and she told me that it would be another $3.00 - for flat soda. I don't recommend this place. read more

This place has definitely changed over the years. This used to be my families go to place to host parties and any types of events we were having, but we never come here anymore. The last few times we came, the staff were rude and appeared like they didn't even want to be there. I had the pizza and it was okay but nothing as spectacular as i remember it being. I also had the baked mannicotti dinner and it came out cold and didn't taste like it was real. It tasted like it may have been frozen and someone just tried to heat it up. I remember they also used to give you fresh bread with the dinner but there wasn't any on the table, no one ever brought any out. Its so disappointing to see your once favorite restaurants going down the drain. I don't know if there's new owners or what, but its just not the same as it used to be. read more

La Casa di Lucia on the farthest end of Bustleton Avenue, in Northeast Philadelphia about a mile before reaching Bucks County, is another decent Italian restaurant slinging traditional dishes to the people of the nearby hoods. There is a big bar in the front of the house, and a small dining room behind it, with a larger banquet room to the side. It is clean and attractive. And, if you enjoy a cabaret feel with sultry smoky chanteuse, this house provides the entertainment several nights a week. We were there for a light supper after strong foot massage, and La Casa di Lucia fit the bill. Plenty of choices, solid service and reasonable prices. This is the case in many such restaurants in this neck of the woods. We ordered a Caesar salad and large pizza, half mushrooms, half plain. Both arrived within ten minutes. It was a large salad with plenty of romaine, and good homemade dressing. We could even taste the anchovy paste. It was a strong accompaniment to the pizza. The pie was good, too, but not as crisp and balanced as I like, and as are available not very far away. Plenty of cheese (perhaps too much compared to the red sauce, garlic and basil elements). The crust was still too moist making it impossible to pick up and hold its point. Had to fold it immediately to avoid a hot cheese slide onto the plate or lap. Taste was decent, but the texture needed a kick in the crotch to stiffen it up. Took half of it home for later consumption. I would try La Casa di Lucia again to see what their dinners were about, but would pass on the tomato pie. read more

We used to come here regularly years ago but stopped frequenting because the service and food seemed to change overtime. I decided to visit them again to see how things are presently but was disappointed. We stopped here last week for early bird dining. It took 10 minutes before anyone came to the table to take our drink/food order. It took over 40 minutes to get out entrees. We became concerned when tables who came in after us were eating their entrees. When we questioned the waitress she claimed it would be a few more minutes but she returned to our table shortly after saying she accidentally forgot to put the order in. She was apologetic and offered to comp us desserts. The food itself was just ok. Waiting so long for the food did not help the situation either. While the service once we arrived at the table was great, the hostess who seated us was anything but. We came with a relatively large group on a Friday night and didn't need a reservation, but there were a good number of tables filled so we may have just gotten lucky. There was live music and if I came just for drinks I'd have appreciated it. But since I came with a group to eat and chat, I felt that the music was disruptive and very loud in the dining area. I also was not the biggest fan of the food. Maybe it's the authenticity of the Italian food but the only thing I could taste was salt and cheese. We went to this restaurant today for a funeral luncheon. The food was edible but definitely nothing special. This is what it came with in order of how we received it. The Italian bread was good. The chicken orzo soup had good flavor but did not have much in it besides the broth, orzo, and tiny bits of chicken. There were no carrots, celery or onion that I could see. The salad was a bit wilted, and came with a piece of cucumber and not much else, with a side of that awful mass produced creamy Italian dressing. I was not so impressed with that. I opted for the the broiled salmon entree which came with a side of spaghetti. It was swimming in butter and over cooked garlic so had a bit of an odd flavor. The spaghetti and sauce was decent but the portion was small and it wasn't served hot. I tasted the chicken franchise that someone else got and it was chewy. It seemed like low quality chicken. Chocolate cake finished out the meal. It was homemade and had good flavor but the slices were very small. The interior of the restaurant is old and in need of some sprucing up. I wasn't focusing on at at the time to really inspect things, but I remember thinking that it didn't seem that clean. It felt grungy. Another Yelper posted seeing a roach there and it didn't surprise me to hear that. This was probably a cheaper option for the luncheon than some more upscale restaurants in the area, which may have been why it was chosen, in addition to availability. The service was pleasant. Parking was conveniently located right outside since the restaurant is in a strip mall. There are so many Italian food restaurants in the area that if I was going to eat near there again for some reason, I would try one of them. This restaurant was not worth a return trip for me. The following rating is two stars purely on the basis of the waitress, without her I don't think I would be able to give any stars. I requested a reservation for 5 people @ 6pm. They put it in the book as 6 people @5pm, then announced to me when I arrived that they gave my reservation away because I didn't arrive on time. The restaurant was mostly empty, but we had to wait for a table. The prices were wrong for several items. There is No REFILLS for anything other than water. Soda tax in Philadelphia carries a 1.5 ¢ per ounce. One 12oz glass of soda is $2.00 . plus the soda tax is. $0.18. Total $2.18, however per the manager the soda cost $3.50 with no refills. A pitcher of soda is $10 also no refills. Unsweetened iced tea also has no refills, because they want to charge for additional tea bags. My mother had a coupon with no expiration date, they refused to accept it. The waitress was very good, the food was generally blah with a side of yuck. read more

Come for drinks or stay for a filling meal; either way you will leave satisfied. Early bird specials include a soup or salad. Fresh bread with butter or olive oil on the table. The interior is dated but this place has been in the neighborhood for years. Regulars fill the tables night after night. The staff here is A+ never have I had poor service here. I can't recommend anything specific off of the menu because I have enjoyed every meal I have had here. This place was our home while we were remodeling our kitchen and we are here almost every night during the construction. Affordable for a family of 5 with leftovers to spare. Every time our team comes to Philly, we always eat here our last night. Our group tends to be 25-35 people, and they are always accommodating. Sunday nights have karaoke, but with a lot of old school, rat pack type songs. I had a half carafe of red wine and the vodka penne with sausage. HUGE portion of food and delicious to boot. You also get a lot of bread and oil and a small salad to start with this option. I wish I had been able to take my leftovers with me, but I was flying out the next day. We're always treated like family when we come here and we'll be sure to be back again the next time we are in Philly. read more

I have one for you.. I am home with my 11 year old, who is sick. I call Grubhub and they never picked up our food from La Casa Di Lucia. So I call and speak to the owner, nice guy (Joe). I get the scoop and cancel the order with Grubhub and then... I call back Joe. I apologise for not calling them direct and asking about delivery. Joe, the owner, on a snowy night, offers to bring the order to me. I have to tell you, a lousy experience turned into a prime example of customer service. Meatballs were tasteless because they did not put any flavor into them. Spaghetti sauce was watery. Plus all they do is that they walk around with a bread basket. Also the prices are too high and the music is too loud. Years ago when Lucy, the owner was there, it was so much better with the food. I attended a baptismal luncheon here a few months ago. First and foremost the restaurant is in a strip mall, and although I wasn't going to judge based on its location, I feel like that doesn't help it any. The parking lot is ample, but there is a smoking area right outside the door so the smell of smoke lingered in the party area while I was there. The service was slow despite there only being a few options. The food wasn't anything to write home about. It was just average cuisine. I may have actually enjoyed a trip to the Olive Garden as opposed to this place. The pasta was a little overly salted, the soup was excessively salty, although my daughter (who is a child) asked for a well done burger, it came out almost rare. Visited on June 16th at the suggestion of my friend Ron. As the other reviewers point out, located in a strip mall on in Philly. Don't let the humble location stop you from trying it, very good old school Italian place. Got there and had a drink at the bar. Started with the house Chianti and watched the locals eating some nice looking sandwiches at the bar. Sat in the dining room near the bar. Our waitress was knowledgeable, and friendly in the "hi hon!" school of service. Just "ok" bread, was delivered. We ordered - me and my friend Joe, the linguine with Red Clam, Ron got the Spaghetti with meat sauce. Ron recommended the Escarole soup, which was not a standard "soup or salad choice' but we were willing to pay for the upgrade. The soup was great, with sausage, a great chicken stock, and nicely wilted escarole. My entree was enormous, and delicious. Plenty of clam, with a nicely flavored, authentic red sauce. We were so stuffed we skipped dessert. Dinner with 2 glasses of wine each was a very inexpensive $25 each. I'll definitely return. read more

I was debating on whether to post this but here goes. My hubby I and my granddaughter went here about 5 weeks ago. We went in & it was very crowded. Lots of people sitting at the bar and we were told it would be atleast a half hour. We decided to wait and the hostess came over to tell us she had a booth ,we only waited maybe 20 minutes. We walked over to the booth and as we were going to sit down this huge roach was crawling up the wall over the table. The hostess backed up and was kind of freaking. I said are you going to kill it...she backed up farther and said no way and I touching that. I took my menu and swatted it. At that point I had no idea where it was and really in disbelief that she was doing nothing about it. She just looked at us and said I guess you don't want to stay. Now I get that you are going to have some bugs but as we left I saw the hostess go into the other dining room. Maybe I should have stayed and asked to speak to the manager or owner but it was so crowded I just didn't want to be so close to all the people without masks during covid. I had the Chicken Francaise it is was dead on...came with good salad. and a side of Pasta. (Note i was offered choice of vegetable or pasta and i took the pasta which came is separate container with red sauce ,which was good, but i was anticpating the chicken over pasta in same sauce). Came here after I bought a Restaurant.com certificate, in efforts to find new LOCAL places I haven't been to. Once they finally got around to us, the service was good, but we must have waited for at least 15 minutes after we were seated to get any acknowledgment much less a glass of water. It is close to the Somerton train station but the parking is killer. The strip mall parking gets full, and there is some additional in the back but that gets full quickly too. Their food was reasonable, pizza was really good, even the next day. They wrap up your leftovers nicely and with lots of saran warp so if you get a pasta dish or something else you can't finish you don't make a mess getting it home. Portions are good, and like I said food is reasonable. Make sure to use the Restaurant.com certificate, because it is definitely not worth going there and paying full price. The party room though has always been busy and those people always seem to be enjoying themselves, so I wonder if they cater better?? Update: I guess they are getting used to serving brown people now, b/c the servers appear to be younger and not afraid of approaching the non-white people seated at tables. The service has gotten friendlier and fast. I have tried multiple desserts, and have to say, they are all pretty fantastic, though limited choices. My new rating reflects the average. read more

I went here for a family dinner after we found out our first place was closed. (Or maybe condemned? Who knows.) La Casa Di Lucia is in a strip mall next to the Wawa and near the train station. It is pretty easy to find. There is a bar and next door a rather large dining room. The day we were there there was entertainment. An older woman was singing the old standards. Not exactly my musical tastes, but it wasn't loud enough to bother the diners. She showed so much enthusiasm it would be hard to dislike her. Plus, if you are in search of cougars - this is the show to go to. The dining room is large and the seats are really comfortable. Our waitress was a wisecracking italian with great suggestions on what to eat and numerous comments on our selection "Come to an Italian restaurant and order no gravy?" Her service was quick and really friendly. The menu is pretty large with the standard Italian food fare. The bread on the table was fresh and quite good. The salad was pretty good. I am not a big fan of iceberg lettuce, so it wasn't a perfect salad, but everything was fresh and tasted good. For my entree I got the Chicken Parmigiana with a side order of angel hair pasta. The portion size is good and it tasted quite good. They have a good red sauce that mixed well with the cheese and chicken. I didn't order a dessert myself, but I grabbed a few bites of the Blackout cake. I can recommend this highly. It's chocolate. Chocolate. And more chocolate. So, if you don't like chocolate don't get it. Otherwise, well worth your dining dollars. So, slow down with dinner and save room for dessert! The prices are good. They won't shock you. Authentic Italian restaurant owned by Italian immigrants. Fresh ingredients always. The eggplant parm is incredible.

This is a neighborhood hangout in the greater NE that has a local bar in the front and a dining area in the back and on the other side. During the weekend night, they have singers that sound decent and sing a collectively set of music. My girlfriend and often come late when it is not too crowded. The food typical Italian American Fare and they have good soups and pasta plates. Not bad if you live around and you don't want to travel too far for dinner and drinks. read more
