Love this place! Spur of the moment stop to eat kind of place! We parked at the post office and walked (sorry if we weren't suppose to!). The house definitely had charm since it was built in the 1880's. The workers are really nice and friendly. All the food here looked/was delicious (I went during breakfast). The hot chocolate is nothing short of amazing and I got the French toast with turkey sausage, but I was eyeing my best friend's dish that she let me try and the whole time I was regretting my order because her's was so darn good! I stopped by Randall House on a motorcycle ride. One of the members called ahead and told them we were coming, so they had tables all ready for us - that was really nice. It took a while for the food, because they were totally swamped with customers. I thought the endless refills of coffee and tea were very nice and the breakfast was very good. One down side is small portions for the price, especially since you have to wait in line to order and sometimes while the guy is making drinks. It really is slow to place your order. Amazing find on a recent drive around AZ. We happened upon the Randall House on a drive. We stopped in for lunch with or puppy. We sat on the patio and enjoyed the cool air and ice breeze. I hate to speak badly about a local business, having a mountain cabin in Pine. But this place has horrible service and mediocre food. We'd always wanted to try this place and finally got in on a wait on a Saturday morning. We waited for over an hour for the food, it came out cold, never got drink refills and they did bring us the incorrect check when it was time to pay. Save your money and go elsewhere, this place just isn't worth it. Sadly, I too would have given less than one star if possible just based on the service. Stumbled across this place when my plans to do a hike in Tonto National Forest fell through. I thought this place was great! The food was great, although just a touch pricey. The atmosphere was great too. I sat outside and enjoyed the beautiful live music that they had. The layout and vibe of Randall House was so cute, cozy, and inviting. They are also pet friendly, which I love! They have a decent selection of vegan foods and foods that cater to dietary needs. My only complaint is the service was kind of iffy. During my visit, I was helped by two people: one who was our main server and one who came and helped out occasionally. Our main server seemed to be in a bad mood because she was not very friendly at all. The other server, however who popped by here and there was incredibly friendly, went out of their way to get refill the dog's water dish without being asked, cleared our plates, etc. Overall though, my experience was good and I would definitely come back if I'm ever in the area again! read more

I feel bad for the not great reviews - for a small restaurant in a very small town this was a great place to grab lunch. People need to understand that given location and size it's probably going to take some time, so sit back and enjoy the cute atmosphere and the fresh air and trees! We were on a day trip scoping out our wedding site and were so happy just to be out of Phoenix. We came in on a recommendation and will be back. Yes it took bit but since this place is in a house I'm assuming the kitchen isn't huge. The black currant ice tea was wonderful - we had the salmon burger, the burger special for the day and the salad niçoise, 5 star? No BUT the chef came out as they had run out of the cheese that came on the burger and wanted to give us other options (we came right before closing, the staff was very kind when most places people would be standoffish if you came that late, we didn't realize until after the fact but still - our waiter was great and I'm assuming he wanted to go home but was still awesome. Running out of ingredients means you're probably not getting food that's been sitting around for 3 days so no complaints) - the chef was a really nice girl and was super friendly. Our food was good and hit the spot. The food was all super fresh and we couldn't pick a favorite because the dishes were all so different. The menu was large and can accommodate vegetarians, burger lovers, etc. we felt bad as we were the last people there but had seen THE most amazing looking pies when we walked in to get seated - they happily got us desert and omg... Since there was three of us we got the pecan, strawberry rhubarb and coconut cream. Mind blown. We hated to choose but the coconut cream was like no other - the chef came out again as we were asking who made them and it turns out she did. High five to her - all three were wonderful! A lot of people aren't strawberry rhubarb fans so I don't get it often to share and this was also a treat, the crumble topping was like my moms back home in the Midwest. And the pecan had whole pecans which was a great difference from most places. (Yes, we really like pie which is why I went into so much detail haha). I accidentally left the take home container with the pie in it on the table and we didn't realize it until we got to Payson, we almost turned around :) So in summary... This place is great, plan to wait, they may run out of stuff, the staff was friendly, the food was great and fresh, the pie was awesome, the atmosphere was wonderful. Been thru Pine numerous times and always said "we're gonna have to stop & eat there sometime". Did it for Fathers Day today. Big mistake ! Apparently some young people were in charge of seating-that wasn't smooth. After 5 minutes or so, one of the kids took our drink order: coffee and Oj; 5 minutes later the drinks came. Five minutes later, another young man took our order; their breakfast special: corn beef hash & eggs. Over 54 minutes later, we were served. It was not good. Not going back! read more

I took my Mom there for Mother's Day 5/8/2021. My first time there. Worse treatment ever by this short thin blonde lady (assuming she's the manager)!!! I was there with my brother and sister in law as well. Anyway, long story short, I ordered a SALMON Salad ($13.00). What I got was a SALAD with 2 cucumber slices, 2 tomato quarters the size of a tsp AND about a Tablespoon of Salmon flakes! When I saw my salad, I was not happy! This blonde woman came out and argued with me that I was getting "what the chef" considered a 1 ounce serving of salmon. No way was that even close! She proceeded to talk loud and argue with everyone at our table. She made us (and all other patrons on the patio) extremely uncomfortable with her condescending loud tone. Everyone was staring at us. Then she returned with a tiny sauce bowl of salmon and said it would cost $4.50 which was about a 1/4 ounce of flaked up & DRIED up salmon. She kept buzzing around our table after that which made us all uncomfortable again. When the bill arrived, as we were all looking at it, she again approached our table for the 4th or 5th time and in her loud voice "Is there a problem with the bill??" OMG .... WHO IS THIS LADY??? Not only was she wrong she was rude!!! We tipped the servers very well, however, THIS WOMAN NEEDS TO BE SPOKEN TO!! If she's there again, I can assure you, we will walk right back out and tell all of our family and friends NOT to go there! IF you have any problems with what you are served, never EVER proceed to go to this place if you see her. read more

We have eaten there several times but our adult children go there a lot and love it. Food is a cut above your typical breakfast fare. They have specialty coffees also. The menu is not as extensive as some restaurants, but if you like eggs benedict, skillet breakfasts, pancakes, and the like you will love this place. Being a local and dining at The Randall House often, I cannot express my disappointment enough with my latest visit. I took my friend and our 4 kids to dine for breakfast. As usual, there was a line, no biggie. When we finally made our way to the front of the line, you order, take a number, and find a seat. They recently changed to this, prior you had a server and a hostess. Big dissapointment after spending over 100$ and having to "serve yourself". You even had to get your own drinks. Food came, and the kids had blueberry pancakes. They forgot the blueberries in the pancakes, so I went to the counter and told them, once again no server to check on us to see how everything was. The 20 year old kid who was ringing up food at the counter for everyone, who took our order, gave us frozen blueberries on the side...really?? Wow, ok. Then I realized my order was missing bacon. I brought it to his attention, to which he told me that was not what I ordered. Excuse me?! I was so taken back by his response. I asked if I could have bacon, he said he would have to charge me for it. The problem is on my receipt I had already paid for it. I told him that I refused to pay for something twice when I didn't receive it to begin with. He was not willing to make it right, After asking to speak the manager, he very rudely told me he was the manager. I pondered for a while on whether or not to write this review but people need to know how this business treats customers and fails to take any accountability for unhappy customers and terrible customer service. read more

I would have only given this place 3 stars but I liked the feel and setting of the little house. The food was good, but not the best in the area. My eggs were ordered over medium and came out a tad under soft. I'm not a big fan of runny eggs so what is a guy to do? Mix it with your ranch potatoes, douse it in Tabasco and suck it up. Can you really send back runny eggs? Either way, it was a nice place and I'd eat there again. I was a bit disappointed by their "bakery and pastry" selection too. Oh well, bygones. read more

Randall House chef makes most everything from scratch, so if you are in a hurry, go elsewhere. But if you want want something fresh and delicious, this is the place. The little house, originally built in 1883, is a wonderful find for anyone traveling on Hwy 87 in North Central Arizona. We recently booked for a wedding reception, and everything went beautifully. The food was great, the guests were happy, and the cake was beautiful. Open Wednesday through Sunday for breakfast and lunch, the Randall house is worth a stop. read more

We love this place. The owner is definitely hands on and everything seems to be made with care. This is the only place we've been (other than my kitchen) that has homemade (and perfect, perfect, perfect) pie crust. Grab your pie as soon as you get there because they go fast. I almost always get the veggie quiche with the side salad. I think I could live on this quiche. It is perfect every single time. My husband picks different things but is always happy with his choices. When you go, be sure to try their homemade ginger ale. It is so different and yummy. Stop in. I so wanted to love this place! The setting is perfect- an old farm house surrounded by gardens. We went for breakfast and waited over an hour and a half for our food! The food was good when it arrived but not worth waiting an hour and a half for. Looked so cute on the outside, had to stop in and try it during a Festival weekend. Loved it! Reminded us of a Rim version of the Farm at South Mountain....historic home turned into great breakfast/lunch spot. It is "slow food" and not McDonalds so you should not be in a hurry. The place looked cute so we stopped in with our kids for lunch. This is where our enjoyment ended. They made our food wrong and we asked them to correct it and they proceeded to give us a hard time and was very rude. They reluctantly remade it and again it came out wrong. We asked that they remove it from our bill because we did not have time to wait for them to remake it a third time. The owner came out and proceeded to start a fight in front of our kids. We came here for lunch and right away could tell the service was unwelcoming and poor. My husband ordered a dish with mayo only and they messed it up two different times. We had 2 small children with us so could not wait for another one so just requested they remove it from our bill as it still wasn't right and we hadn't taken a bite. They refused telling us it was our fault. I requested to speak with the owner who came out with a terrible attitude and spoke in a condescending tone telling me it was our fault. I asked if it was possible the waiter misunderstood. She said it was possible but they were charging us anyway. She said she disagreed to air on the side that the customer was right and walked away from our table with a smirk on her face. Up to this point, we had experienced great people in Pine but this did sour our experience. We will never return and I highly suggest you skip this restaurant. Horrible Service, worst experience !! I dont even know how this place manages to remain open. Cash only, order and pay inside, and basically help yourself to water, utensils. etc. There is basically no service and/or staff in this restaurant. Like most reviews I have read, our food (2 items) took over one hour to arrive, even though the restaurant only had a couple table occupied in the middle of lunch rush hour. I saw my Waldorf salad seat in the kitchen counter for 30 min before the server brought it to our table. According to their menu, the salad came with tart green apples, raisins, spinach, & romaine tossed in our honey mustard sprinkled with red onion, toasted walnuts, cucumber, & tomato, but the chef decided to skip the cucumber and tomatoes and to make a new version of the Waldorf, by the way, did I it mention my salad came with no dressing?? I politely asked to the server f for the honey mustard dressing, after waiting for another long 5 min, the dressing came with a surprise...another bill for the dressing!!! I proceeded to eat my salad, and after waiting for a while for the server to show up again, I tried to explain the server that my salad came with no dressing, and that I shouldn't have to pay for it. She cleared our table, and 5 min later, a mad lady comes storming thru the main entrance to our table with a menu in her hand, and with a very high voice, started to point out to me about the extra charge fee in the menu. My boyfriend and I did not know what to do with ourself. We were so embarrassed . I tried to explained to her that my salad did not come with any dressing, but she disagreed, so we paid for our dressing, and waited anxiously for our change, but it never came. After another long wait, we asked for our change, and the staff told us that our change was added to the tip jar. How ridiculous to believe they deserve a tip for bad service and for over-charging customers for ingredients missing in their menu. This restaurant is missing the number one rule for any business to survive, and that is Customer Service. Do yourself a favor, and continue up north on AZ87, there are plenty of restaurants in PIne with better reviews that this joint that deserve your business !!! read more

Worst customer service in the world, yes in the world. My husband and I stopped here for lunch but never again. Arrived at 1PM and restaurant was nearly empty. Our waiter took our drink order and came back 10 minutes later, without our drinks, and took our lunch order. Waiter came back 10 more minutes later with drinks. My husband ordered a ham and cheese on toasted bread. 45 MINUTES LATER after asking waiter several times what was taking so long, hubby got his toasted ham and cheese sandwich, but it had NO CHEESE AND WAS NOT TOASTED. We ask the waiter for cheese and he brings out shredded cheese. Really, how would it stay in the sandwich??? We ask for the manager. She comes out and we said we waited for our meals for 1/2 hour (really 45 min) and it was wrong. She said sarcastically, "30 minutes wait for a sandwich that is inconceivable. Waiter must have forgot to write it down. We are humans after all, we make mistakes." Her condescending attitude and sarcasm were uncalled for and I did not hear any genuine concern, just crappy attitude. We then ask for sliced cheese and after some grumbling about slicing it off the cheese bar, she returns with the cheese. Not sure if she was the owner; if not FIRE HER. If the owner, take a class in customer service because you failed. Yes, they offered to toast his bread but we really did not want to wait another half hour. Food was bland and pricey for portion sizes and mediocre quality. Their customer service was the worst I have seen in a long time.
