The pizza was really great. The chef here has some awards from Italy culinary schools/ experience. The quality is what comes through immediately. 4 stars for slower service and not very speedy seating. There is an adult only bar area in the picture I attached. The sangria there was awesome and about $12-15. Nice place to stop for a pie after a long hike to the waterfall nearby.
It's not often that I find a great food item. But I think the potato chips at old County Inn are my favorite potato chips ever. Hot out of the fryer and every potato chip was crisp and flavorful. We both thought they were fabulous. The chips come with two sauces, a blue cheese sauce and a hot sauce. We really didn't dip the chips in the sauces because the chips tasted so great by themselves. We also ordered their meat pizza pie. It too was delicious. We loved the small cupped pepperoni and the great crust. Our server was friendly and informative, and we had a great experience here. It's worth noting that we got there around 11:15 and by noon there was a line out the door on a Wednesday noon. So this isn't a secret place to go. They have a great reputation among many other diners.
Oh my goodness! This place was awesome! We got a couple order of wings to start and they had a little spice to them which I appreciated! We ordered 3 pies, Meat Pizza, White Pizza, and The Simple with mushrooms and black olives. First, they are a lot bigger than we thought they would be! The tomatoe sauce was amazing! The White Pizza was a pleasant surprise. The food is fantastic but the staff is better! If your close by your are sound yourself a disservice if you don't dine here!
Just wow - pizzas are wood fired to perfection! We loved the burrata pizza! Our server was wonderful! We had a long wait for a table, but you can put your name in and they text you when the table is ready. Easy parking and dog-friendly, covered patio!
I wanted to give this place a 5 star so badly but ther service was so bad that my girlfriend is still thinking about it one week later. We were not informed that the pizza would take over 40 mins to get into the oven so there would be a wait... we waited without being told anything for 45 mins when I finally asked where the pizza was. Turns out it wasn't even in the oven yet- being busy is fine (which was their defense) but as a former server; you should inform the table of wait times for food so they have the ability to either leave or order something else. We finally got our pizza after an hour of sitting and we didn't order appetizers (we planned on stopping other places for food in town) so we were starving!!! The pizza was half pepperoni half cheese and amazing! The most perfect crust-- floppy but very crispy. The sauce was zesty and very cheesy as well. I loved the pizza which is why I give this a 3 star; my girlfriend says it deserves 2 but I want to be nice. Save your money, save your sanity, and go to the pizza place just a mile down the road not this place
Poncho pizza, build your own pizza, gluten free pizza, four people, three pizzas, salad and of course we started with green chile beer cheese and breadsticks!! You use the best ingredients. Best wood fired pizza ever. Thank You - great way to kick off our 4th of July weekend.
Come on man! This was excellent pizza! We were up in Pine for a quick vacation and every time we drove by the place looked packed. Don't let it discourage you from stopping in. There was plenty of seating, both inside and out. Our server was super personable and made for a great experience before we ever got to the food part of the night. The drinks were excellent. We made the end of Happy Hour so we grabbed a beer and an Old Fashioned. The Old Fashioned was their Maple Espresso and was out of the world. We got the wings for an app and they flavor was great, the right amount of heat, maybe a little subtle. The Pizza was excellent. We got the simple one and added Pepperoni on half of it. My wife loved the cheese half and my grandson loved the pepperoni. We got the White pie forest and it was really good, I love a White Pie and was not disappointed. We also got the Burrata Pie, this was the single BEST pizza I have ever eaten. Every single thing about it was great. The crust, cooked to perfection in the wood oven, the pepperonis, and the burrata along with the hot honey drizzle made the pie. Also the tomato sauce was great! I'm not sure a move to Pine is out of the question for this pie.
We went to Old County Inn excited to try their pizza, but unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing overall. It took about 20 minutes to get seated, which we didn't mind. However, once we were seated, we waited nearly an hour for our food. Our waiter came by a couple of times to refill our drinks, but never acknowledged or apologized for the extremely long wait, which made the experience even more frustrating. When the pizza finally came out, it was just okay. The slices are extremely thin, and for the price, we expected much better quality. Unfortunately, nothing about the food or service made us feel that the experience was worth what we paid. We really wanted to like this place, but based on our experience, this will be our last visit.
Came up to Strawberry to beat the heat in Phoenix! The weather was simply amazing here and we decided to stop and have pizza! The service was great. The food was good and so were the prices! We got the homemade breadsticks and beer cheese that was a 12/10! The pizza was amazing too but a little greasier than I like hence the 4 out of 5 stars! But definitely recommend!!
Good pizza option in Pine, with a variety of unique and filling pies. Make sure you know that pick up is at a different location a few minutes away. We ordered a cheese, Lefty and Hawaiian BBQ. I'm a huge fan of Hawaiian, but didn't know they use "roasted pork" which is more like pulled pork in a sweet soy sauce. The flavor combo wasn't bad, but just different.

We came here for dinner, and despite the chilly evening, stayed warm outside due to the fireplace and heaters in their wrapped-in patio. The food is made from scratch and was delicious - our favorite meal of the weekend getaway to Pine. My husband and I shared the just beet it salad and the burrata pizza. The salad was earthy but balanced with the creaminess of the goat cheese and fresh citrus of the lemon vinaigrette. It came with breadsticks that were similar to slices of flatbread with herb seasoning. The pizza was amazing!! It was packed with toppings - the saltiness of the pepperoni, creaminess of the burrata, and sweetness of the honey went so well together. We ended the meal with the cast iron cookie - a freshly baked chocolate chip macadamia cookie served in a cast iron and topped with vanilla ice cream. Such a warm and comforting meal overall.

Gotta give props to a friend of the family who told us that Old Country Inn, located in Pine, AZ, made the best pizza she had ever tasted. Couldn't agree more. My wife and I spent a week in the Payson area and we wanted to enjoy some really good food, so the Old Country Inn was on our radar. Pine is a unique town with a lot of natural beauty, so we sat on the patio. The highway was busy, but that didn't matter because it was a gorgeous day. Our server Joyce was great. She made recommendations and helped us select the Burrata Pie based on her description. It did not disappoint. I wish I had taken a photo of the whole pizza before we ate the entire thing. Several things stood out. The crust is soooooo good. The char from the wood-fired oven was perfect. The pepperoni was also the best I've ever tried. Now add the dollops of Burrata Cheese, hot honey, fresh basil, and cracked pepper. Best. Pizza. Ever! I've enjoyed the numerous varieties of pizza that are available. And I've eaten at that famous one in Phoenix. Sorry, but I would choose the pie that requires a four-hour round trip over the local fav. Make the drive and you won't be disappointed! Worth the drive from Phoenix, the best pizza I've had! The crust was really nice, we did order a very unique pizza it's called "the Pancho pizza" with pulled pork, cilantro pesto and green chili sauce, absolutely delicious. A couple of months ago, we dined in at Old Country Inn and had a great experience. The food was excellent and the customer service was wonderful, so we decided to make a day trip back today and bring home some pizzas for dinner. This time, we ordered takeout, which we learned is prepared at a different location. Unfortunately, all FOUR of our pizzas were burnt. The crust was extremely hard and very disappointing. Because our previous experience had been so good, it honestly never crossed my mind to check the pizzas before we left. After this experience, we will not be ordering from the takeout location again. We also accidentally left behind a pair of glasses at the dine-in restaurant, which the friendly staff there thankfully found and held for us. However, I was unable to reach the restaurant directly, so I called the Express line for assistance. The first woman I spoke with hung up on me. When I called again, the gentleman who answered told me to stop having my calls transferred there and was unwilling to help me get in contact with the restaurant. It was especially disappointing considering how great our first experience had been. While the staff at the dine-in restaurant were friendly and helpful, our overall experience with Old Country Inn Express was extremely disappointing, both with the quality of the food and the customer service. read more

We had the pleasure of ordering from the Old County Express!!!! Pine Arizona PANCHO Built on a DiNapoli California tomato base with mozzarella, woodfire-roasted pork, roasted green chile, Pancho Sauce, and fresh cilantro-serrano pesto. But the real surprise is the crust. It's a gorgeous deep golden brown with a rich, buttery flavor and what tastes like a hint of olive oil. Crisp on the outside, light and airy inside, with just the right amount of wood-fired char. It's the kind of crust you actually look forward to eating instead of leaving behind. Stopped by on way home from rim camping trip. Just me and my pup, Buddy. Patio was fairly open so we were directed to choose an open spot which we did. Service was fairly quick after that, and we were given a water dish for my pup immediately even though I had one. The wind was gusty at times and blew the paper plate and menu away for a second - twice! Went to order and asked if they had fries - Buddy loves fries. Waitress said no, but they do have a dog dish - chicken. I said sure! And then I ordered their meat pizza. They delivered the dish of chicken for Buddy and he LOVED it - inhaled it! And he is a very picky eater! Found out when check delivered that it cost $4.00 but I was totally fine with that! Then the pizza arrived - wow - very good! I meant to save some to take home but it was so very very yummy! Solid service, great food, and good value overall. I noticed family in the courtyard area playing with some of the games they have which is awesome. They also have an indoor area that is pretty open-ish with a fireplace even. Also noticed they have a wide variety of tap beers too! Hope to go back sometime soon and enjoy those too! read more

I wish I had better pics but these were half devoured by the time I even sat down to eat. We got takeout and the line was crazy long but honestly so worth it. We went to the Phoenix pizza festival and this pizza place was hands down better than every single pizza we've ever eaten at that pizza festival AND every place we've ever eaten in the Phoenix area period. We got take out and even after a 25min drive to our campsite it was still absolutely delicious. We will always make time for this pizza place now!! Such a cute little pizza place tucked away in Pine. read more

We love coming here! The breadsticks and cheese dip are the best in AZ and pizza to die for. Always busy but worth the wait. My only complaint is the bartender (Moe?) didn't know how to make a moscow mule. It was vodka and lime juice with a splash of ginger beer but still giving a 5! We will be back read more
Read the other reviews, and thought we would give it a try. My wife said, and I quote "this is the best pizza I have had in the three years I have lived in Arizona". So thinking that is enough about the pizza, but we were also a little sad we did not try the beer cheese, meat & cheese board and the wings, as those around us ordered these and told us how good they were, but we were only there for one meal, and we left with a whole pizza. LoL. Highly recommend, the wait was about twenty minutes for a table, but we walked right in and sat down at the bar. Worth the wait either way and we will be back. read more

Arrived here after Tontozona and waited about 15 minutes to get a table I thought the wait would be longer so we were pleasantly surprised. We enjoyed a few pizzas and a Caesar salad. Both were delicious! If you're up north for the weekend or a local this is a great place to check out! read more

Best pizza I've had in Arizona. It's absolutely beautiful outside with small indoor seating, partial outdoor seating with fans, and a large selection of outdoor that allow you to see the natural beauty of Pine. The service was fast, and overall the food and ambiance of this place was more than worth it. read more

We were told this was the best pizza in AZ and it's good but not the best! We came for hike in pine and had to stop by. They were slammed at 1:30pm on a Wednesday. The lefty with the bbq was really good but the pepperoni, was thin and needed a little more sauce. It is wood fire. The red head lady at the bar is a boss and was taking care of everyone inside. All the servers seem to serve the whole restaurant. A couple servers were pretty rude but I understand the rush. They have games to play like connect 4, a taproom and wine bar attached and are a staple spot in this area. So glad we stopped by but not worth the hype read more
Dang, got here at 5:30, seated at 6:30. Here it is 7:34 and no pizza. No refills, just dang. Order apps, they came out ok. I realize, they can get busy, but I swear, get it together. First time here, and probably our last. It's 7:37, and we still haven't gotten the pizza. Waitress did just come by to tell us it would be ANOTHER 20 minutes. Ouch. Having to sit on these horrible benches doesn't help. Should have gotten digiorno and just ate in. Maybe bad timing, maybe not. But if a large party comes in, maybe, just maybe get a small table of 4 their pies first, the large party can probably wait for it. Hope we get out of here by the time they close..... read more

Obsessed with this place! Every time I take a trip to payson now this is where I will be eating! They had indoor, outdoor seating with lots of heaters as well as outdoor games which were really fun! I heard that they also have love music sometimes? Food was phenomenal! We got the meat pizza which was amazing definitely recommend. Also our appetizer was the green Chile beer cheese which was also a hit! Can't wait to come back! read more

Stopped in after seeing this spot all over Instagram and it was well worth the hype! We came not too long after it opened and the tables were already full with a line to be seated! I think that's a testament to the quality of the food. All of the pizzas were full of flavor and cooked to perfection. The Caesar salad was notable too-- with just the right amount of tangy flavor. Not a ton of indoor seated, but there is large outdoor patio and covered patio. Definitely will be back next time I'm in Pine. read more

No joke- this is the best pizza I have ever had. I came on a Saturday at lunchtime so there was a 15 minute wait to be seated and a 40 minute wait for the pizza, but it was so worth it! The service was also incredible and everyone was so friendly! The outdoor patio is so cute and a perfect place to enjoy the sun and a good pizza! You have got to order the burrata pizza. The combination of flavors is incredible! The crust is cooked to perfection. Overall, it is just the perfect pizza. If I had to pick a final meal, this would be it. You have got to try it! read more

Ugh I don't know what happened tonight'. It was our anniversary and this place is sooooo good that we wanted to drive an hour and a half For our anniversary. First of all, some one rear ended me in the back of my brand new Lexus ...... so maybe my day has an impact on my review ....... So we drove an hour and a half..... then there was a 60 minute wait. We waited an hour to e seated. Then we ordered our favorite pizza. The baratta and she said "sold out" So we ordered our 2 favorites and they were not as good as usuals. If you are in Pine this is a great place to get a great pizza and cold drink!! There is a wine bar near the back of the property with live music in the evenings. Great service and ambience!!! read more
