Amazing food!!! We are here twice on vacation here. Wish I could eat here everyday! Very clean and excellent service. The beef and chicken flautas were amazing!! Shrimp tacos were good. We had heard favorable recommendations so stopped in Sunday (9/14/20). Inside was nicely decorated, we opted for outside (distance) seating patio. They have amble seating on the east side and some out front. Enjoyed music playing over sound system. We had beer & a margarita. We split a VERY tasty order of Enchiladas Supreme. And topped it of with yummy flan for dessert. Service was great. Prices good. Would recommend. read more

Food was awesome. The guacamole is on point and a huge serving, can definitely serve as an appetizer for 4 people. The ground beef filling for tacos and burritos is very well seasoned. I wasn't a fan of the salsa but my sister loved it. Our server was a little inattentive, but the food runners were on target. Overall a good experience. read more

This Texan finally found Mexican food in Daytona Beach (Ormond) worth coming back for. From the fresh, classic salsa to the tender chicken in the lunch menu Super Burrito to the the creative crab quesadilla topped in a white queso sauce- everything was well executed, fresh, hot and delicious. Food was very tasty and delicious. Had it delivered . Only thing is taco shells get soggy and fall apart when it's delivered due to being packaged etc . But if I were to eat at the restaurant I wouldn't have that problem. The guacamole was beyond delicious had shrimp it was good! Hubby and I decided to go on a last minute date, I had to work, so we met at the restaurant after I was done working, neither of us had ever been here, but someone at my work recommended it, so we wanted to try it out. And we were not disappointed, the wait staff was friendly, and the wait for food was not excessive, and the food was very good, and right on point with the price. I am not one who normally writes reviews, but I cannot keep quiet about my experience at this restaraunt this past Saturday, March 11th. We were in town for Bike Week, riding around Ormond Beach and we stopped at La Catrina. The waiter, I forget his name but he was the one with bad acne scars all over his face, tried to, I don't know, predict what we wanted instead of letting us order, it was odd. I asked for 3 grilled chicken tacos, no beans, no rice, easy, simple. I was brought shredded chicken with peppers instead. I told the waiter, and he seemed extremely confused that it wasnt what I wanted. Finally he brought me 3 grilled chicken tacos, very dry, very plain. My husband got 3 grilled chicken tacos with rice and beans. His beans were runny and tomato red, he asked for soft shell flour tortillas and they used corn instead, so we had to ask him to fix that as well. then we got our check. i was charged over $18 for 3 chicken tacos. The waiter charged me A La Cart prices. He had charged me way more than my husbands full meal. We were extremely unsatisfied so we did not feel overly inspired to leave a tip. I did however accidentally leave my purse on the seat, which i discovered at the gas station on the end of the strip where the restaraunt is, so i went back immediately. I walked in and said I was just in here, i left my bag. The waiter said something to the host, who reached down and picked up my bag from the shelf under the register. Instead of handing it back to me right away, they continued to talk to each other in Spanish. I said a little louder, thats my purse, please give it to me now. He finally handed it over to me and said, Thanks for the tip. I realized later what he meant, when i looked in my purse and realized they had taken 4 dollars in cash out of my purse. They stole it, plain and simple. The service sucked, the waiter repeatedly messed up our order, he seriously overcharged on our bill, there was a serious breakdown in comprehension and hospitality and my husband tips accordingly, going above and beyond for good service. This did not come close to even acceptable service, so they stole what they could not honorably earn. Shame on you!!! read more

Visited while on vacation in Daytona Beach. Trying to get away from the tourist scene and eat local. Mexican is a go to for my wife and me. La Catarina did not disappoint. It starts with the chips and salsa. The chips were great and the salsa is pretty good. My wife ordered chicken mole and I went for the fajitas (chicken, steak and shrimp). My wife's was awesome. Full of flavor with plenty of food (glad the hotel room has a fridge). The fajitas were great. The chicken and steak were tender, the shrimp were cooked well, and the veggies were caramelized. The refried beans were very good and the tortillas were great (that makes a huge difference). The service was great and the restaurant was nice with roomy indoor seating and a nice garden for outdoor seating. We enjoyed it so much we returned a couple nights later. I was certain I would try something new, but went back to the fajitas - that good. My wife got a pork dish (don't remember the name and she's sleeping) and it was fantastic. read more

The food's quality was satisfactory but the portions were terrible. For two people we spent over $35 and we both were still hungry when we left because the portion sizes was dreadful, we both ordered the same dish, one for each of us. For the amount we spent and the food they served, they should have served us double what they actually gave us, two small, very faintly filled burritos, about an ice cream scoop size portion of yellow rice and approximately a 1/4 cup of fried beans served on a small plate with nothing else, I was shocked when the waitress brought us the food. The irony of it was that we had never been to this restaurant before and because of it, we ordered on the recommendation of the waitress to what she said was one of their heartiest meals. I will never visit this restaurant again nor will I recommend it to anyone I know and deter them from going to it as I am a local resident, if I can keep even one person from going to this place I will be satisfied. This Mexican restaurant recently went out of business for reasons unknown and then reopened as another Mexican restaurant except under a new name, now I think I know why it went under the first time. If you want a good, local restaurant at reasonable prices, stay far away from this place because it ain't it! read more
