My family has been shopping here for our pan dulce for over 45years. They have a great tasting food and their prices are reasonable.

The bred is really good, fresh, and the pastry too. I really recommend this place, was like 50 years in business.

Stopped by to pick up some tamales. There were about three people waiting to pay Maricela was at the register but looked extremely unhappy to be there. There was also a younger girl working the counter who was friendly. An elderly gal asked Maricela for help taking a box and two smaller bags to her car. Maricela made a face the elderly lady once again asked for help I told the elderly lady my son could help her. At that point Maricela yelled "I will help her" and made another face. I said it was ok and that he could help Maricela again angrily said "I will help her". Maricela seems to not know how to deal with customers. Would she have been ok helping the elderly lady from the start I would not have had to offer. Get this lady some customer service training. read more

The holidays are not the holidays without Tamales. Half a dozen hot red pork tamales are a bundle of joy. They make them without the corn husk but that doesn't matter. They are a nice size not huge but the quality and taste are phenomenal. The masa is not dense and dry instead soft velvety texture paired with a moist melt in your mouth pork with a mild tasty red sauce. I asked for five but the senora said how about a six -- why not! My wife asks me always to not go crazy and get too much but I will definitely eat them. We like to exchange home made eggs rolls for homemade tamales with our friends in Compton at their local bakery and restaurant but after five decades and several generations they retired about a year ago. This time of year and actually any time you feel like a great authentic homemade tasting tamale come here. You won't be disappointed though you may need to bring extra napkins and sit in your car since there's no tables -- it's pretty much all to go. The best tamales in the area. Always a smile and great customer service! Their Pond Dulce is amazing, especially the pineapple turnovers.

This was my first time at this panadería, and I have to say--the service left a lot to be desired. I tried some of their bread, and it was actually quite good, so no complaints there. However, when I saw some trays on the counter and went to grab one, the woman behind the counter seemed annoyed. Without saying anything, she pointed--using the tongs--toward where the other trays were. Since it was my first time, I obviously didn't know the system. On top of that, the woman who helped bag the bread wasn't friendly either. She wasn't exactly rude, but she barely said a word. Overall, I won't be returning. It seems like they're not too concerned about customer service as long as they make a sale. read more

They have really really bad service people cuts in front of you. They don't even ask Who's next. They don't care they just leave you hanging waiting to take your order. I walked into this establishment on a Sunday evening. I originally wanted to get some sweet bread but I also noticed other desserts I wanted to pick up as well. I looked around to see if the sweet bread was a help yourself type thing or if maybe they get the bread for you; I didn't notice any tongs or gloves to grab the bread yourself nor did I see any bags. I did see some boxes but I wasn't sure and I didn't want to just assume. There was one older lady in the back at the sink her back was turned so I waited patiently for her to turn around when she did I greeted her and received no response I figured she was going to wipes her hands off and then come assist me but that didn't happen she wiped her hands and then grabbed something and took a bite out of it. Nothing about her body language read that she wanted to help me. I had my toddler with me as well and we were eager to get some sweet bread but I guess we'll just stick to getting our stuff from Northgate. read more

Not only are the tamales delicious, but the ratio of filling to masa is spot on! Although they're constantly cranking out dozens of tamales, it's best to call at 5:00 am to place an order. Had a potluck at work and decided on Tamales. I was too lazy to cook. Order 4 each of Chicken, Cheese and Pork. Hands down, the pork was my fave and would get 5/5. Chicken was 4/5 and a little spicy. Cheese/Raja gets a 3/5. Masa is very smooth, velvety and moist. Not crumbly like others. Would definitely come back for the Pork and Chicken tamales. Service was excellent and they have a great selection of pan dulce. I am definitely coming back again soon. This is now my favorite tamale spot! Tamales run $2.68 each served hot and $1.00 each if you purchase them cold. Also tried the bread with jalapeno cream cheese which some people rave about. It is the bolillo bread filled with cream cheese mix jalapeno. Was decent but felt it needed more filling. I wouldn't get it again. Rather have another tamale instead! Bolillo bread is 3 for $1.00. Really tiny bakery shop. Be careful when arriving. Check windows to see how crowded it is before entering the store. The customer standing area is enough for 3 adults with minimum 6 foot distance. There is no distance monitoring. You need to make sure you are taking safety measures. Wear a mask and stay away from others unless purchasing. Parking limited. Street parking or check somewhere around the back. This was my first time at the bakery, and the food is tasty and so is the bread. However, when we were there I purchased some bread, paid with my credit card and got a receipt, but after the young lady took my payment she went over to the side of the counter and started touching the bread with her hands. She was touching everything in the shop without washing her hands before handling the bread. That is so unsanitary and not a good feeling to know someone is doing that with the food you are expected to eat. She should be washing her hands or using gloves when handling food. Very disappointed, didn't feel like eating the bread after seeing this. I am afraid I won't be going back to this bakery and won't be able to recommend this place. read more

This is the place for tamales! I've tried various ones from other places and these taste the best to me. They are moist and have good flavor. I like the jalapeño and cheese and also the red pork. I usually order a dozen at a time which makes for an easy meal for my family. Biggest tip is to call and place an order before heading over to pick up. I learned this the hard way. When I went to pick some tamales up at 9am and they didn't have another batch ready for another 3 hours. I ended up having to place an order and driving back later. They also tend to run out by the afternoon. My husband also likes the pastries here as well. They have all kinds of breads, cookies, etc that would pair nicely with coffee. Started coming here bc I wanted tamales and it's near work. Parking is a little difficult and I don't think their service is good here. It seems you can't really get your tamale order fulfilled correctly unless you order before the day of. I.e. I ask for a specific amount of 2 flavors each and they don't have enough quantities even if my order is just a dozen or half a dozen. I tried to order at 7 in the morning for pick up and the lady said they don't do that and just to come in. They did not have enough for a dozen ‍. The male cashier is nice but the female workers are rude...this place needs to do better read more
