AUTHENTIC GEM If you…read morefind yourself in the area and you are looking for some authentic Mexican food then this is the place. If you come at lunch then you will be waiting in line because I'm not the first person to find this hidden gem. Many people know about it and on Tuesdays they have $1.25 traditional tacos available. I wish I could claim finding this place on Yelp but my wife is the one who dragged me in here. It was her second visit and my first and I loved it. I really loved the owners. They are incredibly sweet and you can find both of them at the front counter taking orders. This is a true family business. If your looking for authentic food then this is the place. My girls orders chicken and steak tacos topped with onions & cilantro. If you want them American style you can order they Supreme which tops them with lettuce, tomato, cheese & sour cream. I decided to go with a steak burrito topped with green sals, crema & cheese. I was truly impressed. I typically get my burritos wet when traveling in Southern California because they just get it. Most Chicago places don't get a wet burrito. So I was just in love with my plate of food. I shared a few bites with the girls and they loved it. They might not be getting tacos on our next visit because my little one was planning her next meal already and a burrito was on her mind. So if you find yourself North of Chicago and you are craving affordable authentic tacos then this place is worth it. You'll be thanking me later because this place is a gem.

The Brisket was a bit tough and dry. But, you can't go wrong with the steak tacos. Tender and seasoned to perfection . The portion sizes are what you pay for, yet was enough to fill us up. 5 dined in with 1 order to go for under $70 and that's a great deal! Certainly worth checking out!

We dined in and their establishment is kept clean and it's well decorated. If a place serves horchata you know I have to try it and they pass the horchata test (not too sweet, hint of cinnamon, and no chalky aftertaste). They bring out chips and salsa to start. The salsa had a slight kick to it but nothing unbearable for my tastebuds. I had their chicken tacos minus the Pico. They still put the Pico. But besides that the chicken was well seasoned and nice and juicy. They really fill their tacos. I got double the rice instead of pinto beans. We also tried their beef Empanadas which were delicious but they will definitely fill you up. The bowl holds a lot of food and the flavors were good. The chicken by itself wasn't my favorite, they may have overcooked it but since everything else was good Ill give it a pass. Overall a good place to stop and get a bite to eat.

Drinks are 20oz bottles or cans with typical selection with some LATAM favorites like Aloe, Jumex juice and Apple Soda Empanada was tasty. Filling was cold. We had the Carne Asada and Badeja Paisa. We struggled with the strong bleach smell trying to eat our meal. We also ran out of beverages, and we were 1 of 2 tables in there. The chips looked and tasted like they were out of a bag, which is disappointing because it's not hard to make fresh chips. They had 4 different salsas which were tasty which was good because their food had little flavor. The rice and beans didn't even have any seasoning on them. The steak tacos didn't have much flavor either, so it was good that we had our choice of the salsas to use. The steak was without fat or gristle so that was a plus. My husband ordered a burrito that he said was bland and dry. It was good that they had to salsas but the food lacked seasoning or the flavor I expected from a restaurant with flavor in the name. I am willing to give them another try and order something different, but my husband isn't so willing.
