The worker that greeted me was extremely kind. The bakery looked clean. There were a few customers inside eating their food, which I don't try. The bread is not good at all. I ordered a croissant and concha. My 2 favorite types of pan dulce. They both were not sweet at all. The concha was crunchy like it was older even though it was on the tray of bread that had been recently baked. It felt like styrofoam. I gave two starts because of the kind worker that greeted me. First time eating here today and certainly won't be my last. The most amazing food I have ever had. Normally, you order a burrito with everything on it and you fear you might get too much lettuce and not enough meat. Nope, not the case with the burrito I got. The meat portion was GENEROUS. It was so good that I had tears forming in my eyes. So good that I almost drove back just to shout from their rooftop how amazing the food is/was. So good that I would sell my house and move right across the street just to be closer; I could have it for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Staff was very friendly too. I visit this place at least once a week. My husband and I don't shop here for food or house stuff, though (we go to Lewis Produce or Woodman's). However, we do go for the tacos, ceviche, tortas, and guacamole. Their $1 tacos and $3 tortas are delicious. They don't scrimp on the meat and the taste is delicious! The 'taco guys' are always very polite and the service is quick. I've never been there where there hasn't been a line of people waiting for their tacos, burritos, or tortas. It's nice to see a good mix of races there, too. Asians, White, Blacks all standing together in the name of yummy tacos! :) I'm cheesy. I do not shop there for household things mainly for the same reason the previous poster stated -- it's not cheap. I refuse to pay more for things I can get at other places, but I am aware that many people don't have the option to travel from store to store and they just take it. I find this practice by Mexican store owners to be a bit abusive, as they should watch out for their own, but that's a personal thing of mine. Don't jack up the prices on the people who most need you to keep them low. This is not an affluent city. But, I digress. I have been disappointed by the lack of good food in the Mexican restaurants in Waukegan and am glad that we have found a place to have our tacos and cheap! Their hot food is good. I came here earlier as i was waiting for my Chinese rice across the street at Ming Toy's.. I'm almost like never interested in extremely ethnic Mexican grocery stores because of their customer service a lot of times towards Blacks.. Now that thats out of the way, ill speak the truth about this place. It's a Mexican grocery store that sells Mexican products.. no real shocker there right?The shocker was that this store is immaculately clean and all the shelves are stocked perfectly and there isnt a speck of dirt anywhere.. Even the cashier was polite and not as shitty as some of them are when you go into these types of places.. How does this place exist without any problems?, Ill tell you one problem i had.. The Foca detergent was high as hell.Almost $6 for a 2 KG bag of detergent!.. the other bag that i got from Lewis Market was less than $2 for a 500 g bag.. and if i would have went to Walmart and got the big ghetto sized bag i could have gotten the biggest bag they had for under $8! Im already mad but at least i know where i can go to if i want to get screwed over in the laundry detergent department.. As for the rest of the store, ill give it a thumbs up and ill be watching for them to F**k up, because this place is too clean, too nice,and too organized to be true! read more

I was hungry and about to hit the road. I saw a sign that said "Tacos $1"...I'm in. The place is immaculate and has lotsa products, but I was hungry and in a hurry, so I made a beeline for the hot food prep area. I had a choice of brain, tongue, steak, they were out of chorizo, among other meats. I ordered two steak tacos and a chicken torta. The chef walked over to the meat counter and placed my selections on the grill. After cooking and seasoning, I had my choice of the fresh toppings on the cold bar. I opted for tomatoes, avocado, cheese, and lettuce. I also picked up green salsa. In a word, DELICIOUS! The unmistakable freshness and tasty flavors were just great. The bread was fresh and the salsa was just the right spicy. Note: There was so much meat on my tacos, I had to use a spoon. I can't believe that Taco Hell is still open across the street. This is tasty, fresh, and an excellent value for the money. I will be back again and again. read more

Good meats and produce. Cooked foods are pretty good, except for the tamales, a little dry for my taste. Tortas are excellent and well priced. Tacos are tasty but every week they get smaller. Carnitas and rice are hit or miss, more hits than misses. Bakery is pretty good, but the conchas smell kind of funny. read more
