Ordered the escargots, Dover sole, and soufflé. I really enjoyed the sole. The fish was cooked perfectly and was very moist and flavorful. The escargot and soufflé were pretty tasty too. My only complaint was the old fashioned I ordered. It was small and watered down. Other than that, it was a fine experience.

Everything here is wonderful. From the food to the service to the overall vibes I loved this place. All the food is spectacular and the service is the friendliest. A great Georgetown spot!

This was my first time here and my husband hadn't been here in over 20 years as we live out of state. But the fact that this restaurant has been here 50 years and survived the Plandemic certainly says a lot! We would highly recommend it. The atmosphere is very cozy and it's likely you'll be sitting close enough to others to overhear their conversation. But it's a small space so they are doing the best they can. If you're looking for a more private dining option pick somewhere different but risk not having food as good as La Chaumiere. We started with soup, Lobster Bisque and French Onion. Bread and butter were also provided. Both soups were very good but be aware that the bisque does not contain lobster meat. I tend to like the places that place meat in the bottom of the bowl and pour the soup over it so you know you're getting a spoonful or two of meat. I realize not all recipes include that so I'm just making mention in case that's important to you. Otherwise, both soups were delicious. I had the salmon in puffed pastry with dill sauce. It's a bit like the idea of beef Wellington but with salmon. I loved it! And the green beans and carrots were served slightly crunchy which is exactly how I prefer them. My dish also included mashed potatoes so there was no need for another side item (besides my soup). My husband had the 14-oz Ribeye which was a special and not listed on the menu. It was $68 and included some greens and potatoes. The side sauce (not sure if it was butter or Mayo-based) had a delicious tarragon flavor. He said the steak was cooked to his liking and he gave it an "A" which is quite rare for him to do. And I forgot to mention, service was impeccable. Overall, go try this place!

Never disappoint. We visited here again before Thanksgiving. We loved the environment and the service as usual. The food is classic. Honestly, if you want classic traditional French food in DC area, this is the place to go. Also, my brother ordered a special veal kidney. It was great. If you want to try some new ingredients, try it here. That your chance and you might get some new experience.

First I want to give a compliment to our server Philippe! He was absolutely wonderful and definitely made our experience memorable. The food was very good! My favorite was the French onion soup for the appetizer, super flavorful! We went for my sisters birthday and it was pretty packed so definitely make reservations. Enjoy this little taste of France!

Old country charm at the edge of Georgetown this place has all the components of a place that received a Michelin Star. A few updates and attentions to detail could get this place a solid 4 Star Review. I was treated to a birthday dinner hear on a chilly December evening. The dining room centers around a small harth in the center of the dinning room with a small fire warming the room. The space is a buzz with wait staff and bussers that are clearing tables and filling waters; but with as many tables set-up as possible the space verges on claustrophobic. It also didn't help that we were seated near the kitchen door meaning all of the action had to breeze past our table. You can tell that many locals come back to this place and are given two coveted tables/booths in the back, we saw several older couples/friends roll in, have 1 or 2 items and a drink, and roll out over the course of our dinner. I love that support of a place by the community. No bar seating means wine and cocktails might come out slower. Indeed, much of the service seemed slower at the peak of dinner, which was at odds with the fully staffed dinning room. The low number of restrooms was also a challenge in such a large/fully booked place. Now onto the food. Rustic French staples like Foi Gras served with toast, Roasted Oysters with herb butter were perfectly seasoned and came with extra bread for soaping up every drop of butter. The fish in the Trout Almandine was perfectly succulent and the Seafood Bouillabaisse was served with hearty portions of delicious fish. The beef dish (can't remember exact name) was also cooked perfectly medium and smoothened in a well seasoned jus. The price is very Georgetown but the quality is there. Maybe a calmer evening would let the true charm of this place shine but the bones are good!

A group of us had dinner here while in town for a meeting; we were celebrating the birthday of one in our group as well and so wanted to go somewhere nice. This was perfect! Two of us shared the Foie gras as a first course and it was rich and delicious. I enjoyed the trout for my entree and the accompanying potatoes and vegetable went nicely with the sweet, perfectly cooked fish. We shared some excellent wine and also shared an assortment of soufflés for dessert. The soufflés were delicious. Service was excellent and the upstairs room where we were seated was quite and relaxed. Truly a wonderful option for classic French fare in Georgetown!

We went for dinner here with my bf's family, who happen to eat here whenever they are in DC. Our party of 6 was taken upstairs for the seating. Service was quick and attentive, making sure we had our drinks in order. I tried an espresso martini that was delicious. For my app, I got the lobster bisque, which hit the spot on a cold winter night. My main was a stuffed pheasant with bokchoy and mushrooms and was one of the specials of the night. Never had pheasant before, so I didn't know what to expect, but it was ten, er and the sauce was salty and complex. My boyfriend enjoyed the soup du jour, which was a parsnip soup and a red snapper that was also a special of the day. I do think the trout Amandine is popular as 3 people in our party got it and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Celebrated my birthday here a few nights ago and I have to say the food tasted impeccable! Our server was also very attentive. Our food was brought out in a timely manner, over all I can't complain about anything! The ambiance is European cozy, the prices are on the higher bracket but the taste makes up for it!

This is the lowest rating I've given to a restaurant which had absolutely delicious food. I loved what we ate at this quaint Georgetown restaurant. The pike dumpling was served in the most velvety and delicious lobster sauce I've ever had. I loved the salmon en croute, despite its high price point. My friend liked his venison, although it was cooked far past his stated preference of medium rare (I like my meat closer to well done, so I loved it. Don't judge me lol!) I'm taking off one star for the service. It was very difficult to track down our waiter, who was very dismissive of us after we chose to not order wine. I don't drink, and this attitude was very off putting. Getting a hold of anyone was quite difficult. I'm taking off another star because a cockroach walked through the restaurant during our meal. That's such a brazen health code violation! Really no justification for that one. I hope they prevent that from happening in the future.

I originally booked Omakase room by Tadayoshi for August 15th dinner at 5:30. To my shock it turned out Omakase room is closed that day but my reservation was still active and I confirmed it as well the day before. My husband wanted to try this Omakase place for a while and I thought the day was perfect for it. Unfortunately, the restaurant was closed and I was taken by surprise as I didn't have any alternative plans or reservations. We first spoke with General manager at Boucherie and she kindly offered us to take a look at the menu and see if we wanted to dine there instead. I was very upset that the planned and anticipated reservation didn't work out. I said yes at first because I didn't know what else to do but we got an amazing server Revo who lightened the mood and Manager Michael was very kind to us and understanding. While dinner started not on a great note, it ended up the best outcome we could have had. Everyone we interacted with was kind and great. I would love to come back again but now specifically for Boucherie and in a much better mood. I totally understand that reservation issue is not Boucherie's responsibility and I still don't know how this all happened. But we hey made our anniversary dinner a fanatic experience. Many thanks to them and also to the sommelier. Wine list was great and we received great recommendations. Thank you, Boucherie team for everything, I was ready to start crying at the omakase room after seeing it was closed but now I will be back specifically for you and the great food. Beef bourgonion was the best I have ever had.

We arrived at 7:45 on a Saturday night to see if there was room for two or at least room at the bar. I wish the hostess had told us that we could wait at the bar for a table to open up, as we saw that's what many other patrons did, but she told us there was bar seating and high tops and so my husband and I went on up. We easily had our choice of two seats at the bar or a high top, and we selected a high top. After 5 minutes of no one acknowledging us, my husband and I told each other we would wait two more minutes before we would bail. Right as we were about to jump ship, a server came by and asked if we wanted menus. We said sure but it was just strange that no one greeted us, it was just "you want menus?" Lol. Another server brought us menus and asked if we would like water and a breadbasket. We said yes and after about 15 minutes, bread arrived. We chatted with the server about what drinks we should order; I ordered a French 75 and my husband ordered a special Sazerac. We also ordered the tuna carpoacio. After about 10 minutes, the server came back and to confirm if I wanted the soft side cocktail and if my husband wanted an old fashioned. We said we did not and corrected him. Then, a server tried to give our drinks to the table next to us and our server corrected him and brought steak tartare. And then he goes "oh wait, did you order this?" We said no and he asked if we wanted it because if not he had to throw it away lol. And then 5 seconds later, the tuna came. Both the tuna carpaccio and the steak tartare were delicious. But this was the entire evening: we ordered something, something else came. I ordered a glass of sparkling rose, and an espresso martini appeared on the house. We had to ask for our bill twice and when we got our bill, it was definitely someone else's. Finally, as we were preparing to go, the original server comes back and goes "here's your espresso martini." Like bro we asked you originally for the check and we are clearly leaving. Luckily, my husband and I had plenty of time before our show, it was a great atmosphere, and the food was super delicious. It was just such a comically bizarre experience and I feel like they are definitely losing money. I think we paid for half of what we ate and drank and probably ate and drank other people's food! Maybe we will go back? Maybe not lol

In fact, I could barely cut the peach in the Peach Melba with a spoon and so I took two bites of it before I called it quits. The frites were very good. I ordered the steak medium but it was a little overdone, not juicy and underwhelming in flavor. The AVAL French Cider's Rosé was perfect. It was a crisp, semi-dry cider that paired well with the food we ordered. We ended up ordering far less food, which was unceremoniously dumped on our table with no regard for coursing in an obvious attempt to hurry us along, and several times wait staff attempted to pick up plates that were clearly still full of food while we were clearly still eating. By the time we received the dessert menu we felt scared to order it, and completely unwelcome. And of course, you guessed it: they automatically add a 20 percent service charge so there's no market correction to their piss-poor service. The attitude at this restaurant is everything wrong with fine dining in general in this day and age, and in DC in particular: You should be so lucky to dine here, you lickspittles. Eat up and get out. Thanks, but no. Never again. You'll find me at the bar at Chloe where they take the time to know your name and never make you feel unwelcome.

I came here for National Oysters Day because I am an oysters lover. I called the day before to make…read moresure it would plenty of oysters & the male hostess confirmed it. I stopped by earlier during the tail end of HH to grab steak tartare & made a reservation for 7pm for my friends & I. I am unsure what the issue was with the female hostess today (likely under pressure from stress), but I do not think it is an excuse to be rude to customers. Additionally, when I returned back for my 7pm reservation, she told me "something happened" in the system & I would have to wait 45 mimutes. I asked was my reservation not in the system already since she rudely insisted that I make a reservation in advance. She said they were at capacity, but she still did not give a clear answer as to why my reservation was not in the system already. So I waited 45 minutes & an additional 5 to be seated. Upon being seated and set to finally place my order, I am being told that the oysters and the frozen cocktail are out for the day, at 8pm.... I had other friends coming far away thinking they would have the oysters & cocktail specials for National Oysters Day; one friend was coming 40 minutes away (from further out MD) & the other coming 26 minutes. Imagine if I wouldn't have contacted them immediately to let them know that the special we wanted ran out. They would have wasted their time coming far away for nothing. I am IMMENSELY & deeply disappointed in the rude service, lack of professionalism, and lack of communication with this establishment. I shouldn't have to wait until I am all seated to find out items ran out, especially for an "All Day" special. I waited an hour for absolutely nothing. I cleared my evening, thinking I would have a great time celebrating National Oysters Day, for nothing. Whole evening gone & time was wasted, left on an empty stomach. I will likely not return again and do not recommend others to come. This is my first time & absolutely last time.

The cheese puffs and artichokes were mediocre, and the macarons were fine but nothing memorable. The tarte flambée was slightly below average. It tasted mostly like cheese and fat, with none of the depth or balance I expected. The biggest disappointment was the steak au poivre. We ordered it medium rare, which our server specifically said was also the chef's recommendation, but it arrived somewhere between medium and medium well. More surprisingly, it was one of the toughest steaks I have ever eaten. At $49, that is unacceptable. The mashed potatoes were equally disappointing: bland, not buttery, and nothing like the rich French pommes purée I expected. We also ordered the carrots, but they never arrived. At least we were not charged for them. The crème brûlée was good, but a good crème brûlée could not redeem the meal. The service was attentive and polished. The restaurant was also nearly empty at 5 p.m. on a Friday, with only one other table occupied inside and a few people outside, which in hindsight may have been a warning sign. Beautiful room, decent service, deeply disappointing food. I would not return.

Wild to find out this used to be Baby Shank because I used to love that place too. It was such a cool surprise seeing how they transformed the space. Definitely feels like a hidden gem. The menu slaps -- the steak was amazing, the salads were fresh and full of flavor, and overall the food, ambiance, and live music made this a great experience. The musicians were lightly singing and playing the piano, allowing for us to chat and not have to strain to hear one another. The dinner menu is a great deal and we all ordered. You can select an app, entree, and dessert, which includes bottomless fries and salad (which is topped with the most delicious vinaigrette), for $45. They also have $10 martinis. I had the burrata, mussels, and we all opted for a different dessert so we could share. Everything was so delicious. We ordered a side of the baguette which was so crunchy, fresh, and hot. The butter was absolutely delicious, and every bite was spectacular. The carafes of wine were a great deal as well, coming in half a liter and a liter ($18/$34), with the wine tasting good. I will certainly be retuning for a future jazz night or potentially a night on their beautiful patio. Heads up--a reservation is recommended as it fills up quickly on Thursdays!
