I recently took my my family to Bistro Du Jour for Mother's Day. She has been wanting to try this restaurant for a while and we were not disappointed. She ended up getting the steak frites and I got the burger American. Hospitality was great. We even met one of the managers of hospitality. It's connected to a hotel so they have pretty extensive hours. The one thing I would say was that the fries were decent but the burger was amazing. The restaurant was beautiful inside, very elegant. I look forward to going back.

My friend and I came here right after some yoga in the hotel. The staff was very attentive, my food was great the salt needed eggs but everything was very fresh. The steak my friend had was a little tough for a medium well steak but we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and the drinks. The pink drink is the peach bellini and it was great too! Food came quickly, it was a calm environment, and I would honestly come again!

What a wonderful experience! The food was absolutely delicious, at competitive prices, and the drinks were top notch, even the mocktails! The deviled egg with caviar was delicious and the salad with salmon I had as an entree were extremely fresh. The salmon was perfectly medium rare, and the wait staff could not have been nicer! I had asked about a bookshop (I was traveling and didn't know the surrounding area) and even though the waitress did not know, she looked it up for me! I even got my deviled egg for free since I'd been traveling all day! So sweet! If you are anywhere near the Capitol, make this a must stop! You will not regret it!!

Incredible food. Sat outside for weekday lunch. Service was excellent by Briseyda! Food was incredible. French 75 cocktail was to die for. We enjoyed the PEI mussels, the Salade Verte, a salad with grapefruit, fennel, avocado and salmon, and a pistachio tart. Yum and beautiful views.

Loved the ambiance, the waiter and the attention we received here. Not to mention the food! It was all very special and delicious- we loved it!

Not far from the Union Station, the venue can really catch people's eye with its front flowery decorations. It's a big restaurant with a bar, nice and tasteful decor. Standard service, nothing special. food was decent, we liked escargot. The steak was good but a bit salty.

French bistro beautifully decorated and located at The Royal Sonesta Hotel. Populate spot for locals and guests alike. Food was great and came out quickly. Service received was perfect! Noise level here is low to moderate.

I forgot that I visited this place and to leave a review. Life sometimes interrupts your plans. This was one of the best restaurants I went to when I visited DC for work. Walked in for a late lunch and was able to get seated right away. The staff were quite friendly. Highly recommend the salmon dish. And don't let me forget about the coffee and ice cream that you can get to close out a delicious lunch. It goes very well with a tasty wine from their great selection.

Cute French dining in the Royal Sonesta hotel. The ambience is great and, more importantly, the food and drink were delicious. Stayed at the hotel and was able to try the latte, dinner and dessert before leaving the area. For dinner ordered the chicken or however you pronounce "Poulet Rôti Au Poireau" (not pictured) to take to my room. Oh my gosh was it good! The sauce and the mashed potatoes with spinach were a perfect combo. Next night went down for a pastry with pistachio cream dessert at the bar. Though this place is definitely cutesy there were a few folks watching Monday night football game at the bar, so still laid-back. And the bar staff were really personable if you choose to sit.

I met my friend here for brunch on a Sunday morning. It is located adjacent to the Royal Sonesta Hotel. The bright and dainty interior puts you at ease. The relaxed atmosphere and the aroma of freshly brewed coffee was just what I needed on a Sunday morning! I had the avocado toast made from a delicious croissant topped with a tasty fried egg on a bed of avocado, arugula, radish slices and pickled onion slices. It was delicious! My friend and I shared slices of sweet fresh fruit (cantaloupe, honeydew melon, blueberry, blackberry and strawberry). Our server was attentive and topped off our coffee cups and water glasses. It was a pleasant start to our Sunday!

I came here for lunch on a Wednesday. It was a late lunch, so I was seated immediately. Food: I ordered the following for my lunch: Gazpacho - This was refreshing for a summer day! It was flavorful and nice. French Fries - Fries were standard, but delicious nonetheless Gnocchi - These pillowy soft and delicious. I enjoyed the cream sauce. Crème Brulee - This was pretty standard and good. Service: Service was friendly. It felt a little slow at times or I had to catch my waiter's attention to get service. However, it was never too long. TL;DR - good food w/ decent service.

We had the most wonderful experience at this restaurant! The service was great. Our waitress, I'm sorry I don't remember her name, but she mentioned she's from Ukraine. She was very sweet. Even offered some warm tea for my son who was feeling under the weather during our vacation. The food was absolutely delicious!! My French husband was in heaven. Definitely recommend it!

High quality ingredients in a beautiful space. Patient and careful service even though I was dining with a toddler. There was live music on Sunday brunch hours. My 3 year old had Mac and cheese, I had deviled eggs, pate with macaron and the lyonaisse salad with salmon which was perfectly cooked. My little one loved the Mac and cheese and salmon - even the crispy skin! Overall a great spot for brunch!

This was one of the most unique shakshukas I'd ever had... It literally tasted like a curry dish you might get at your local Indian restaurant, with a bit of a brunch flair to it. The curry itself had a wee bit of spice and was a bit sweet - but that could have been from the sweet potatoes. The chicken was served in a bowl on the side, which felt a bit... odd... I would've expected it to be incorporated into the main dish. It was kind of bland and a bit lukewarm, so I don't know that I'd order that again... but I would definitely order this again!

If you do anything when you go, please make sure to get the biscuits. Hands down THE BEST BISCUITS I've ever had lol. They are the most flaky and buttery biscuits, you can count each layer that these have. Pro tip is to ask for butter and the house made jam. Despite the nearby ceiling vent dripping condensation on the right shoulder of the highest-paid individual in our group, we enjoyed the deviled eggs app and refreshing tap water. I sat at the bar and the bartender was friendly but busy restocking as it was towards the end of the day. I had the cheery old fashion as she promised it was one of their stronger drinks. I didn't find this to be true, it was actually overly sweet and tasted more like syrup. The second drink I picked was the bourbon bash. I thought this one would be sweet as it's made with different juices but it was actually on the stronger side. Definitely stronger and better than the Cherry old-fashioned. To snack on I went with the steak and cheese, eggrolls and bacon, blue cheese brussels sprouts. The egg rolls were great. Lots of flavor and the texture was spot on. The brussels sprouts were good for the most part. They did go a little overboard with the blue cheese for my tastebuds. My second visit was for a late breakfast. I started with an Irish coffee by recommendation of the bartender. It was a great way to start the day. It was strong enough but with the right balance. My breakfast plate didn't meet my expectations. My eggs were too running, bacon was chewy, toast was stale and the hash browns were only cooked on one side. I did ask for them to be crispy. I picked at it enough to curb my hunger.

We were sat in the solarium area, and it was during the heat dome, and it was really warm in there. Otherwise, though, it's completely charming inside and reminds us of some of the best French bistros we've been to in the country (e.g. Balzathar, Le Supreme). The three cocktails we tried--the frose, le jardin, and the clouseau--were all stunners. And of course the bread deserves another special mention, *especially* the room temperature butter. Thank you for not serving hard as hell butter! We shared the warm shrimp salad to start, and for $31, we were expecting more than a few avocado slices and 4 shrimp on it, but c'est la vie. The dressing was incredible, and the greens were crunchy. That's actually the only dish of the night that we thought was unfairly overpriced. One of us ordered the burger and the other got the rabbit pappardelle--you've got to get rabbit when you see it on a menu, which isn't often enough! There was a good amount of super tender meat and the pasta was perfectly al dente, all in a lightly stunning sauce. Chef's kiss. The burger was, no surprise, another triumph. There was juicy meat, bun integrity, and all the right accouterment notes. The fries are standard. Our daughter got their mac-n-cheese, which is probably just the gratin dish renamed. It was OK. We kind of got out of control for dessert and ordered the pot de creme, the cookie dough ice cream, and the profiteroles. Honestly, these were all good, but nothing that stood out as exemplary as with the savory stuff. Our only major complaint was the service. It was really spotty and while there was a very, very long gap in between when we got our water and then put in our drinks, but our mains came out almost directly after the salad. And the guy was just not very hospitable. Not necessarily a "bad" experience...it just could have been a lot better. Four stars, and we have already declared that we will be back again to "The Dip" because there is so much else on the menu that we want to try.

That said, a couple missteps that should not have occurred took this review into the negative realm. Let's start with the positive. This appears to be a great new addition to the neighborhood, and I hope it is supported. The appetizers were delicious and nicely presented. The pistachio feta with grilled pita was tasty and interesting. The halloumi with orange marmalade was as well. The hostess was engaging and friendly. The atmosphere was calming with a touch of casual refinement. One of the entrees was delicious (the scallops and grits). I'd order all three items mentioned so far, again. The negative. The second entree was the short rib. It was tender and.... Wow, way too salty. A shame because it was otherwise well cooked and nicely plated. But whoa. When the hostess came by, my girlfriend kindly said it was a bit salty. I "refined" her answer and said she was being nice, but it was very salty. The hostess went to note this for the kitchen (a positive for her), and because we are on the first floor outside the kitchen window I heard the conversation. The chef responded that he knew what had happened. Earlier when preparing the short rib someone (in his words) blasted it with salt. What this tells me is that they knew they'd made something close to inedible but served it anyway. At the end of our meal we had leftovers of the two apps and the short rib. We asked for a bit of extra pita to take home and they provided. Then the bill arrived. Not only was there no adjustment for the inedible short rib, but they charged us $2 for the pita. The least they could have done was just given us the pita. Ah well. Those two missteps; 1) serving a known and improperly prepared entree, and 2) not doing something to make good when reported, have led to this sadly negative review for a place that could and should have gotten a positive one. Hopefully someone there will see this, and the experience and review will be a learning opportunity that will help them thrive.

Our server, Peter, was very knowledgeable of the restaurant history and menu, friendly, and engaged us in organic conversation. The management team was also very friendly and engaging. Some of the best customer service you can experience in DC. The recipes and menu options are simple, but the execution is what makes this place an easy return for diners. They are known for their seafood here, oysters in particular, with a solid selection of staples. The biggest value is perhaps lunch as there are a few options around $20 that are filling and delicious; beating similar pricing for lunch at other places, but at a lesser value. The interior is characteristic of 20th century American midwest saloon. A lot of Victorian decor with mahogany wood throughout. Much of the character of the restaurant is built on this idea. The restaurant group has done a good job of preserving what seems to be original interior and exterior design from the previous occupant, the B. F. Keith's Theater. There's a downstairs which has space for private dining, and there are multiple bars indoors, an atrium, and lounge all which the latter are operated by Old Ebbitt Grill. Overall, a very good experience for good good and a history lesson.

They definitely didn't hold back, and it was way better than the one I had at the hotel. Now the food... whew. I ordered the Cajun shrimp and grits, and as a Southern girl who grew up eating grits, I had some expectations. The shrimp were cooked well, the tomatoes were delicious, and the customer service was outstanding. But the grits just weren't for me. The texture threw me off, the sausage wasn't my favorite, and even after giving it a fair chance, I couldn't get into it. I even sampled a little pasta from my friend's plate, and while it had good flavor, I still felt like it needed just a little something more. Overall, Milk & Honey gets a 6/10 from me. The drinks? Absolutely worth it. The service? Top-tier. The shrimp? Pretty good. The shrimp and grits? I'll pass next time. And then... a guy across the restaurant complimented me, and I was convinced he was talking to someone behind me. Turns out... nope, he was talking to me! That definitely added a little extra entertainment to dinner. If you decide to visit, I'd recommend trying one of the fish dishes instead. But hey--that's just how food goes!
