I can't remember what all we got, I think my oldest picked all the caramels, my youngest picked a raspberry one. I picked the yuzu and the pistachio. We all seemed super happy with our selections. A while back, my aunt who lives in Bozeman sent us a box of these fantastic chocolates, and I never forgot them. On my visit to Bozeman, I made a special trip just to get a box of these perfectly tempered and interestingly--but not overly weirdly--flavored chocolates. The chocolate has that perfect snap and gloss that marks high-end chocolates and makes their prices make sense. I wish I'd gotten the name, though, of the young woman helping me because she was remarkably friendly and helpful and was a wonderful representative of this company (for the record, I went on Sunday, August 4, around 1pm, in case that helps the owner identify her). She suggested some favorites of other customers and also her own favorites while she packed up my box. Thank you, friendly person! read more

Absolutely fun place with absolutely amazing chocolates to try!! I am not a "sweet" person however even I could find flavors and combinations I enjoyed. Of course there were some I didn't care for that others in our party found absolutely delicious! There were other treats such as cookies and brownies and specialty items. Enjoy inside the small shop or order and go. Or do what we did-both!! You can see them making the chocolate and special treats as well. Had to drive to Bozeman to get my tire fixed during my Big Sky stay, and while I was waiting for the repair, I searched for some good stuff to get in the area. After a few searches I found this place and I stopped searching, decided instantly to visit it afterwards. Was not disappointed. The place is small and cute, the lineup of chocolate is quite impressive. Decided to get a couple for myself and a box of 8 for the family. The "couple" for myself became immediately 4. I went back to this booth twice and both times the pieces were so small that I could taste the outer chocolate, but not the filling. Wonderful marzipan, divine ice cream, and of course, their chocolates are great. I recently started attending a weekly tea time at La Chatelaine, and I could not be more pleased. The tea selection was great, especially considering it's not a tea shop, and the pastries exceeded my expectations. Everything looked perfect, from the mis-matched gold leaf china, to the mis-matched tea pots, whimsical wallpaper and cute cake stands. It's what my six-year-old self imagined heaven would look like. I come here waaay to often. My boys love the fresh hot chocolate made with amazing rich chocolate shavings. I can't name a chocolate I do not love. Try all the salted caramels (lava, sea, lavender...). My fave is the pistachio dark chocolate. Or the lavender... or strawberry balsamic. ALL SO GOOD. I took 4 years of French and remember 5 words. This place has the best chocolates in the world- but I will never purchase them again. I went in there to show out of town guests the wonderful things people make in Bozeman. We were treated so rudely however by the young girl at the counter that I was embarrassed, and we actually left the store before purchasing anything. I was really bummed because I love their chocolate. A friend of mine had the same experience but chalked it up to youth. However I am not that charitable. It is one thing to be young and not knowledgeable about customer service. It is another to be absolutely straight up rude, like she wanted us to walk out so she could get back to doing other things. I also found out that the owners became aware, yet did nothing. There are some great chocolates online folks. Do not reward this behavior, of both the young woman as well as the owners. The lady behind the counter was super friendly and helpful, and when we each tried the one truffle we bought, we were glad we had stopped in. Maybe it's not for me? - This is a family owned small shop which would qualify as a specialty store, mostly for tourist. It's got some really nice items that are first rate, but they are way over priced and a lot of the stuff is hit and miss. It's a bit of a frumpy place that an every day buyer wouldn't really go to. It's the type a place that a grandma would like a lot. As predictable tourist vendors are for tourist. If you are a tourist check it out. read more

I went to La Chatelaine Chocolate Company last week while visiting my cousin in Montana. We stopped in Bozeman on the way back from Yellowstone, and I knew I wanted to stop in after missing it on a previous trip. The setup of the shop is a little awkward, so if there are many customers inside, you can't see all of the counters. They have a great variety of different flavors and types of chocolate. The chocolates are definitely good. The service is hit or miss. I've bought from them 4 times and one out of 4 bad experiences is a very high percentage overall. The first three times the lady behind the counter was superb...helpful, knowledgeable, and patient. I LOVED it! The most recent time, I was with my daughter who wanted to buy chocolates in a box just like her favorite cartoon character, Curious George. The young lady behind the counter was barely tolerant of my child's enthusiasm...this person couldn't muster enough excitement to make my daughter's chocolate buying experience worthwhile. When a child is buying chocolate in the middle of the afternoon with NO other customers in the store, perhaps you could be enthusiastic about the child's experience and go along with it. I'll still go there, but if my daughter wants to buy chocolate with me, I'm going to a department store...which is certainly my loss as well but also somewhat of a shame because the service at Le Chatelaine could be better. read more
