FYI: Chairs at regular tables are very comfortable, vs metal high top chairs, just for those who prefer more comfortable seating options! Our experience at this restaurant was extremely disappointing. There were four of us dining, and not one person had a good meal. The bread arrived stale, the wine selection was surprisingly limited and the wines we tried were of poor quality. I ordered a steak that was served cold--almost as if it had barely been heated. It was completely lacking in flavor and required an excessive amount of salt just to make it edible. To their credit, they offered to remake it, but the second steak was still severely undercooked for what I had requested and had to be sent back again. My husband's dish was equally disappointing and lacked any real flavor. Having lived in France, he commented that this was the worst French dining experience he has ever had. What made the evening even more frustrating was that we had recommended this restaurant to friends and were genuinely embarrassed by the experience. Based on the food quality, service execution, and overall dining experience, we cannot understand how this restaurant has earned such glowing reviews. My husband & I dined here yesterday for Valentines Day. He had made a reservation a month in advance and unfortunately the experience was not what we were expecting. Upon arrival we were asked if we had a reservation. We said yes but they did not confirm name or time. We were sat at a high top that was basically on top of another couple. It was uncomfortable so we decided to move to the bar. We were told the bartender had to run an errand and it took almost 30 minutes to be served a glass of wine. We didn't know there was a special prix fixe menu for Valentine's Day either and no one took the time to explain it to us. We also had to track down a waiter to order. I had asked if there was any way I could get the cream sauce on the side since I have a sensitivity and I was told they'd ask. They never circled back to us and the entrees were served as is. We had also asked if it was possible to get a few pieces of bread for the pate and they never followed up on that either. I will say the food was delicious and the live music was great but the service was definitely lacking. I know they were busy but we didn't feel very welcome and it felt like they forgot about us. Maybe it was an off day so we may give it another go. We've heard such great things about this restaurant. It's disappointing that this was our experience. read more

Where to begin... Ambience and environment: warm and inviting. Big con: flat metal stools with no backrests. I'm not a bird, able to perch for extended periods. Makes for a hard sit for a meal. Service: friendly but novice. Server was absent for up to twenty minutes at a time, nowhere to be seen as empty cups accumulated at the table. Drink: house wine was lovely if a tad overpriced at $10 a glass. Food: tiny, overpriced portions. Mostly inferior ingredients with pretentious titles. Niçoise salad included canned chunk tuna, jarred Kalamata olives. Squash salad was great but about four bites big. Steak frites especially disappointing: a minuscule NY strip, overcooked from the advertised medium rare, served with mediocre fries. Crème brûlée, an overcooked, grainy mess. Escargot: FOUR tiny snails hidden in pastry. Perhaps the greatest travesty of the meal. Give me a break--how about a dozen of these gardeny delights served in their shells with plenty of garlic as they should be? The mussels were high quality and well made, but served without bread--and when requested, a serving of the lovely Aurore baguette dished out in Oliver-Twist sized portions brought out too late and too few. In sum: for the pricey bill, this place was not worth it. Not sure what the vision is at La Brasserie, but there are far better places for your dining dollar in Bozeman. read more

Tried this relatively new Bozeman restaurant based on a magazine review that was favorable. Worried that it isn't getting enough business as we were there on a Saturday night with only one other table occupied. Ambience is great! Service was fabulous including owner involvement! Food was also top quality and great taste. Mussels were extraordinary thanks to outstanding sauce in the French style and on par with any Paris restaurant. Also excellent was Steak au Poivre and Deviled Eggs. Wonderful Creme Brûlée! Prices were typical of higher end Bozeman restaurants, but still high. read more

There is a tenderness to La Brasserie. On a side street in downtown Bozeman, it may be easy to miss as the main cross street is Ted's Montana Grill and Baccus Pub - both with the longevity as a default go-to. But if you want quality food, good wine, and a place to have a lingering conversation with multiple courses OR a nice glass of wine after work to wind down the day, this is your place. The charcuterie board is well cultivated and sourced, unique in its pairing ,they even have lamb! The reds by the glass are the best in town. The staff cares, reflective of the owner's humility and hospitality. A mussels/French fry combo is a simple and flavorful meal. And I have my eye on coming back for the desert menu. I look forward to returning for a proper meal as both times I've been in have been spontaneous and unplanned. As a deep-rooted Montanan with an appreciation for our French fur trapper history, it's nice to see a French restaurant owner with the intention to root. The meticulous planning shows. They even have a private dining room set-up for bookings. In time, I venture that La Brasserie for a French meal, will be compared to Livingston's Campioni for an Italian one. Bon appétit! read more

This restaurant is really special...it's an absolute gem. The food is simply outstanding. My wife had the salmon, and I had the coq au vin as an entrée. This was some of the best French food I've ever had. We paired wine with each and were delighted. The pot de creme was delicious and so indulgent. Our waiter was delightful. He made good recommendations and provided a very pleasing and satisfying level of service. This restaurant blew me away with a menu that was robust and deserving of high praise; service that was spot on, and what a great, romantic ambiance. Don't overlook the soundtrack playing in the background - it was the perfect compliment to the meal. There should be a line around the block every night of folks fighting for a seat at La Brasserie. What a great night this was and La Brasserie. We made a last min change of plans that ended up with us having dinner here. What an inspired choice. The food was fantastic as was the wine choices. Would recommend the Moules and the Creme Brulee for sure and my wife loved her salmon. The service from the staff was first class...and the real treat was the ambiance . There is a musical team called "One Lane Bridge" that happened to be there that night and that just capped a great evening. An intimate space with great music playing (Standards). Though the menu was limited, it had fabulous options of some classic French dishes. The Beouf Bourguignon was so delicious, and quite a large portion! Perfect with a glass of Syrah or Merlot! They offer wine flights, so that was another plus! A charming and delightful little gem in Bozeman ! Our group of three friends thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at La Brasserie. We were warmly welcomed to the restaurant when we entered by the servers and even the owner. There was something on the menu for everyone - a menu gourmand (for me!), a menu du jour for another, and a simple a la carte salad for another. The prices were very reasonable, which was a nice surprise for being in Bozeman! The salmon was seriously the best I've ever had, served on top of amazing parsnip puree and microgreens. Sorry but not sure where other people see a 5-star rating, I was looking forward to some great food, did not happen, they offered 1 type of white wine??, and the bread that was brought to the table was hard and stale, we all ordered the Escargot as an appetizer, for $21 I received 3 escargot that we tasteless and cold, we all ordered the Burrata, no dressing on the greens, the buratta had no taste, and the peaches neither, bigger disappointment was I ordered the steak au Poivre, I was asked how I wanted it cooked, I asked for rare, it arrived well done, since the meat was so thin, it was tough, and best of all no Au Poivre sauce, they just threw some whole black peppers on top of the steak, I have not only eaten this item many times and made it at home myself, where is the sauce?? The dessert was mediocre my wife's lemon tart tasted old, not fresh. I ordered a cup of coffee to go with dessert, they don't serve coffee. If you call yourself a French restaurant, learn how to prepare the food correctly, we asked what type of steak they used and we were told it was a New York steak, there was no way that was a New York, I don't care if you have to charge a bit more but serve properly prepared food.
