This is a 2.5 star review but I'm being nice to round up. La Collina was okay but with uneven food and service. They are pretty affordable so I'll cut them a little slack if slow service and so-so pasta are helping to keep prices low, but I wouldn't visit again. I had dinner with a group of four and we split four apps, four pastas, and some dessert. I sadly missed getting a photo of dessert or the dessert menus. Cheap cafes of house wine ($45) were a highlight; we got two, a solid lambrusco and a solid red. I wish more restaurants did this. Apps were okay. We had the broccolini ($9), burrata ($14, with seasonal apples), garlic bread ($7), and arancini ($12 for 3). The broccolini was a little watery and sweet from the red peppers, which you might or might not like. Burrata was standard. Garlic bread a bit lame, and felt necessary to order since the burrata didn't come with any toast. The arancini was a highlight, as good as any I've had. The pastas were so-so to bad. We all disliked the cacio e pepe ($18) which didn't have enough cheese or pepper; a real dud. Some liked the lamb bolognese ($23) but I found the sauce way too sweet. The wagyu lasagne ($32) had a novel presentation -- three rolled pieces -- but the meat inside seemed more like pulled pork or short rib to me; not worth the "wagyu" name or price. Shrimp diavolo ($22) was my favorite but didn't seem very spicy, I would not have called it diavolo. Dessert was so-so to good. We had bombolini (5 to an order), olive oil cake, and tiramisu semifreddo. Bombolini were not very flavorful and relied entirely on the caramel sauce they came with. Olive oil cake some found too crumbly and came with a lemon sauce some disliked. The tiramisu was very tasty but also very frozen; not semifreddo at all. We had some coffee, amari, and an espresso martini which were fine. Service was helpful but slow. There were some very nice touches, like explaining the seasonal sides that came with the burrata without being asked, and offering to add another arancini to the order (since the default is three, but we were a four top). Service was friendly. But there were long gaps to get served and an acknowledgement at the end that service was slow "because they only had two people working." I have a few problems with the menus. First, I felt like I was looking at a fall menu they forgot to update, not a late winter menu, due to burrata with "seasonal" apples, a mulled wine, a fig-maple cocktail, and a pumpkin cocktail. Second, they don't post their drink or dessert menus on their website. Third, they were out of three different drinks we ordered (mulled wine and two dessert wines); either fix your menu or fix your bar. This was Saturday night, prime time, Valentine's Day weekend; why are you not fully stocked? This further slowed down service because our waiter had to check with the bar, only to find out drinks we're available.

My husband and I shared the broccolini and arancini. I liked my lamb bolognese - the texture of the pasta was great. Unfortunately, I think they were understaffed when we came because it took about 50 minutes for us to get our first appetizers... and I was on the verge of being hangry. We also ordered half carafe of the prosecco which was served in a wide, flat bottomed glass that got rid of all the bubbles! However, overall the ambiance was nice and the food was solid.

    Tomato bucatini
    Andrew K.

All I have to say is WOW. The tomato bucatini was deliciously cooked perfectly al dente and paired with a flavorful, savory sauce. We got a carafe of one of the cocktails and it was delicious. The dimly lit and minimalist environment lends itself to a classy and intimate setting. Our server was friendly and helpful. I also loved that when they bring the bill, they share that the 20% has already been added to the bill.

    Branzino

The most delicious and fresh food! Definitely recommend getting a bunch of apps: arancini, meatballs, and cauliflower. Pastas were fantastic!

WOW finally got to go in person and such a better experience than when we got delivery... the made the branzino gluten free dairy free and it was divine !! Hot crispy skin and flaky tender fish with a gorgeous sprinkling of Fresno Chili's and parsley ! Gluten free dairy free lamb bolognese pasta that was flavorsome and perfectly cooked.. Gluten free dairy free broccolini salad to start. We were impressed that the salad was $9 and a nice portion. Pasta was $25 and fish $20. They add a 20% gratuity to help have a living wage pay but that means you also don't have to add anything. For $35 a person (our bill was $70), it was a really excellent and high end meal. We sat outside around beautiful flowers and lighting and the interior is super high end and well curated. Staff was awesome with asking chef about adjustments to food. This whole restaurant group is amazing (the duck and the peach as well) with food allergies sensitivity !! Honestly only dinging a star because our food came without us having any plates or cutlery which we had to ask for, then we didn't have napkins so had to ask for those as well... otherwise amazing !! We'll absolutely be back!

OVERALL: good pasta but leaves you wanting more in a bad way FOOD: I got the alla vodka pasta. It was good but I felt that something was missing. The flavor was missing an oomph factor. Can't comment on the service or venue/ambiance because I ordered online.

Great outdoor seating on such a lovely evening! We didn't have to wait for outdoor sitting on a Saturday night about 7pm, however for inside sitting, it was a 1.5 hour wait. We had nice service and tried the garlic bread, cacio de Pepe and shrimp diavolo. All were tasty. They add a 22% service charge to the bill and are very transparent about it so you don't double tip unless you want to.

This restaurant is incredible. I had the lamb Ragu Bolognese, and it was excellent. The cheese on top is such a good addition. Also, the rosemary focaccia bread is 10 out of 10 can't go wrong. The restaurant is so cute. From the art on the walls to the decor even the coffee bar everything about it is really adorable. The weight stuff is really attentive. I've never had a problem. The food is always prompt and swift. However, they do not have ice with your water. You do have to ask for it, but that's not a dealbreaker. The desert is also a star of the show. The tiramisu is a really fun modern take on a classic dessert. However, the donuts were incredible. I highly recommend this place for a date night for taking people who are visiting the city, or for a corporate dinner. 10 out of 10.

Squash Ricotta Ravioli special, garlic bread, and Shrimp fra Diavolo. Glass of Frizzante sparkling
    Cortney H.

Food was phenomenal. No notes. Sometimes compliments to the chef are not enough. Lots of great flavors and food was perfectly portioned. Squash/Ricotta Ravioli special was a beautiful balance of fall sweetness and savory with crunch. The garlic bread was crispy, buttery, & light. The Shrimp fra Diavolo was amazing with a nice touch of spice. So unfortunately baste that I couldn't finish it all. I tried my best. Service was super friendly as well and probably some of the best hospitality you can find in the city. I think it makes a difference when you can tell that the team actually gets along. Special thanks to Rosa, the Hostess, & Jasmine, my server. I stopped in for a quick bite after work and think I might need to come by more regularly. The place is beautiful and I loved how it feels modern but not too flashy. Very clean place with nice accents and lighting for people who like to take pictures (like me). My only feedback is that I would've expected better glassware. But perhaps that's intentional to add to the causality of the place. It seems everything comes in a rocks glass & I do, however, prefer to drink my wine from a a stemmed glass. I had the frizzante (sparkling) which I'd have loved in a flute or a coupe. Definitely would recommend coming to this place for anyone who may be on the fence. I don't think enough people know about it!

We went to dinner here last night. We weren't impressed. The restaurant is decorated in what I'd call a minimalist style. Very little fabric, straight-lined modern tables & chairs. It comes across as on the cold side, especially for an Italian restaurant. There are no signs of it being Italian & could just as easily be Bulgarian or Swedish or whatever. We started by sharing an order of burrata. It was served with sliced figs & was good. We then each had a pasta entree. One spaghetti & meatballs, the other lamb bolognese. The meatballs were tasty. The lamb was disappointing, not as flavorful as we've had at other places such as Lavagna. Our total bill was $120, including tax & the 22% that the restaurant added for its staff. We certainly don't mind paying that amount for dinner, but this one wasn't memorable.

A standard pour of their Lambrusco.
    Anissa C.

10s across the *entire* board, you hear me?! I work in the neighborhood. Directly across the street, actually. I've watched the restaurant often, because Italian cuisine is my absolutely favorite. Guess my 12% Italian ancestry is strong LOL I've ordered takeout once for lunch. I ordered the Salumi and Jamon (I LIVE and d*e for prosciutto), Arugula Salad, and Garlicky Bread. That day, I struck up conversation with the host staff, and made a their acquaintance. The most memorable person was Chris. He's a superstar! Last night, after work, I treated myself to dinner and requested Chris as my server. He does it all, and he does it WELL. I was greeted by Lisa and another hostess and swiftly seated. I ordered a glass of the Lambrusco, my favorite sparkling--Even over Champagne, and I prefer my wine to be of the French variety. It was delicious. More dry and fuller-bodied than I was used to, but it was wonderful. I also tried the Bruschetta for the first time. You can taste the freshness of each ingredient. Nothing is packaged! For my main course, I tried the classic Cacio e Pepe and BAY-BEE, I have tasted nothing more divine. It was creamy, salty, peppery, and *perfectly* al dente. I almost inhaled it, my goodness. This establishment has an impressive bar program, top notch food, and a wonderfully warm & intimate ambiance. I will definitely be back. In fact, I plan to be a regular. I've made my reservation for my husband's birthday in three weeks. I can't wait!

Between the handmade pasta, creative cocktails, beautiful waterfront views, and welcoming staff, it's become one of our regular OpenTable reservations. At this point, we've tried just about everything on the menu, from the bomboloni and fluffy Morini pancakes at brunch to many of the pastas at dinner. If it's your first visit, don't skip the gnudi--they're pillowy ricotta dumplings that are absolutely worth ordering. The pappardelle and cappelletti are also favorites, while the gnocchi and tagliatelle are always a hit with kids. The espresso martini is a great way to kick off a relaxing weekend, and what keeps us coming back isn't just the food. We've gotten to know the chefs, managers, and several servers over the years, and they consistently make us feel welcome. It's the kind of restaurant that remembers its regulars and creates an experience that's just as enjoyable as the meal itself. We're grateful to have Osteria Morini in our rotation and look forward to many more family brunches and dinners with friends.

Our server was very prompt and attentive and was quick to alert us that the fryer was out and several items were unavailable. There were few parties in the restaurant so the space was pretty quiet and comfortable. Overall easy experience, nothing too memorable, but nothing bad.

Paccis looks like a small family owned Jersey Italian spot tucked inside a classic Capitol Hill brick home so of course you gotta try it. You and your girlfriend sit down and immediately the couple in the corner seated next to you pipes up about good timing because you just missed the sunset glaring through the window. This fella keeps flapping his jaw the whole time. Even to the elderly couple cross the room. Ok so maybe I was part of the problem but whatever. Anyway it feels like home. They eat there all the time, so that's a good sign. Good people. Which is good because the food is good too and You don't want bad ambiance to detract from a great meal. Oh and did I mention the couple who sat next to us after that were speaking Italian and sharing pizza and pasta? Paccis is certified FOOD: So oh yeah they serve food here too right. Let's talk about it. Me and the girlfriend love to share everything because why come to a delicious restaurant and only try one dish? Fuggedaboutit! We're sampling over here. She starts with a Hugo spritz that apparently is a "girliepop fave" which I might deserve jail time for typing those words but whatever sue me she liked the drink ok? Antipasti: We tried the eggplant fritti which was delicious. Also shared the beet salad. Also delicious. But I will say that we eat a lot of arugula salads and dry arugula even with all the toppings can be a little rough and I'd love if it was lubed up with a tiny bit of olive oil. Anyway don't hesitate to try either of these. Entrees: Buccatini alla carbonara was awesome. Creamy/cheesy, nice bite through the pasta, and that cured meat or whatever it was. We also had the chicken Marsala which was delicious but if you don't already know, don't ask how it's made so delicious because it's basically all butter and cream. Anyway pasta and sauce and chicken we're all delicious. Desert: Especially in an Italian restaurant this is almost always an automatic tiramisu for me but this time we decided to go with something different. The girlfriend loves a lemony dessert so we tried the limoncello cake. She loved it and I liked it. I would say get it if you're a lemon fan. And bada boom bada bing that's your review. Let me start by saying that the atmosphere in this restaurant is one that is so welcoming the minute you arrive. I approached the hostess stand to inquire if there was bar seating available to which the polite hostesses provided a gentle hand gesture and oral direction to the bar. While walking to the bar area, I encountered what I presume to have been a server who was likely standing watch from a distance over his service area, who apologized as our paths met. (There was no reason to apologize, very polite nonetheless) I found a seat at the bar and was greeted by Paul. Paul was an exceptionally pleasant and answered all my immediate questions while preparing my initial cocktail during happy hour. We discussed the menu and he provided great insight which helped finalize my decision for the evening . In the meantime, bar manager Laura stopped by to ensure that I was taken care of to which I informed her that Paul and I spoke and he is making a beverage for me. For the food...the Caesar Salad is #1. I am a food snob and this salad HITS!! While enjoying my salad I inquired about their cast bourbon selection. The staff was very knowledgeable and provided a price list to coincide with their higher end selections. My 40 layer lasagna arrived some time in the midst of the conversation where Paul extended a courtesy sampling of a wine that he recommended that pairs nicely with my meal. It was perfect. I closed out my meal with an espresso type martini, at which time Paul and Laura further extended and offered me a sampling of one of the bourbons I was looking at. I cannot say enough about this establishment. I can't wait to go back and have already recommended via phone conversations to three people and I just left. The evening and encounter was more than just pleasantries with a customer, rather I felt as if I was the only one. If the owner or manager is reading this, Paul and Laura are 10+ and I will be back. Thank you so much for the best meal I have had in DC over the last 2 weeks. Can't wait to do it again!!!
