I don't like judging food due to cultural reasons and how I was brought up. I was taught to appreciate food even if it is not upto my standards. That said, being on this app and criticizing food is something of an oxymoron of me. I bring some of the most strict criticism to the fine dining experiences I part take in. Osteria Mozza has been on my list for sometime but getting a reservation was challenging till last year. I finally got to visit last night and honestly, I am impressed. This might be one of my top 20 dining experiences of all time. First of all I want to thank the staff for everything they did fr adjusting my reservation because I was running late, being kind when my guest accidentally dropped a glass and helping us clean. I really appreciate the kindness of the staff. Thank you so much. The place is beautiful. The aesthetic is a mix of old industrial ceilings with retro Italian architecture. Coming to the food. Nothing disappointed me even a tad bit. Everything was just amazing. Starting with the Mozzarella bar. The bread, the dips and the cheese. I was delighted tasting everything. I would just come here again alone for the Mozz Bar. Then the blue prawns were marinated and grilled to perfection. The presentation was 10/10 but the taste was 11/10. The oxtail pasta was delicious! I usually do not go for pasta but this honestly made me fall in love with pasta again. The whole branzino was seared to perfection. It was salty, the skin was crispy, the meat was flaky and cooked simply. There was a bed of herbs under the branzino that tasted out of this world. Last but not the least, the rosemary cake. I now know that one should only eat vanilla ice cream over olive oil. Out of this world! This is an experience worth every penny! 5/5 must go for special occasions! read more

Came here recently Saturday night to celebrate my birthday with my girlfriends. The restaurant is nice, and has an energetic vibe! The bar was packed too. Service was great--our server Mili was friendly and attentive. We started off with the Nancy's Caesar and Shaved Brussel Sprouts--the Caesar was disappointing, just a few pieces of lettuce and oddly presented. Pastas were delicious and flavorful but were relatively small portions--we enjoyed the Mafaldine, Rigatoni, and Linguine & Clams. The 24oz. Grilled Porcini-Rubbed Ribeye was huge--well flavored, tender and cooked perfect! Whole Branzino Alla Piastra was just okay--fish was soft but it lacked flavored, would have been better more seasoned or accompanied by a sauce. For sides, highly recommend the Sweet Potatoes! Roasted Cauliflower was good but it looked like broccoli since it was green, but tasted like a cauliflower. For dessert, Mili brought out a birthday dessert (ice cream with cookie) and a lit candle for the celebration! We also tried the Tiramisu and Apple Crisp. Let me start off by saying WOW. I have been wanting to try this spot for so long and i finally did today. It is so unassuming on the outside but once you open that door you are indulged with the most amazing fragrance of food and gorgeous interior design. I love everything about this place. They have a small menu but thats how you know theyve really perfected each dish. I was looking for calamari but they didnt have which i found odd but im actually glad because i opted for the arancini instead. The rice inside was cooked to perfection with the perfectly crispy exterior and the best red sauce ive ever had and i dont even like red sauce. The hangar steak was fabulous with a really hard char on the outside but tender inside. The arugula salad was so light and fresh. Everything was absolutely fantastic! From the ambiance, food, and service, 10/10!!! Some of the best service I've ever had. My water glass was never less than half filled. They swap out your silverware between apps/mains which is very nice. Food was sooo yummy! I had a great brunch with a friend at Osteria Mozza. We were seated right away. Everything on the menu looked awesome. I ordered an eggplant flatbread sandwich, and it was very flavorful and fresh. It came with some green salad on the side. It was my friend's birthday and they brought a complimentary dessert, which was so nice! I had brunch at Osteria Mozza on Sunday, and it was one of the best brunch experiences I've had recently. My only prior experience with Nancy Silverton restaurants was a visit to Pizzeria Mozza back in 2018 or 2019, when I was in LA with a friend. We thought about eating at Osteria Mozza, but decided to go more casual and eat at the pizzeria, since it was a lunch. But I've always wanted to visit her Osteria. Lucky for me - we on the East Coast don't have to go all the way to LA to eat at Nancy's Silverton's Osteria Mozza, because one opened in LA at the end of last year. The restaurant is enormous (when I walked in, I thought I was looking at the whole restaurant, but then I was walked to my table in another area, which felt like an attached greenhouse - full of light and glass), but it's also gorgeous, sophisticated, and elegant. My table was a little two top in the corner, and it was such a cozy spot. The service from start to finish was also excellent. My server was wonderful; he went above and beyond. When I was overwhelmed by how much I wanted on the menu - especially as a solo diner that didn't want to over-order - he was so helpful and honest. He really helped me narrow things down and order the right dishes to ensure I could eat what I ordered. He really took care of me, and he made my experience wonderful. So it's gorgeous and the service was perfect. But what about the food and drinks? Also wonderful! I started with one of their aperitivi: 9 Di Dante - Rosé Vermouth (bright citrus with balanced herbal botanicals - served with amarini cherries), which was wonderful. I started with their Little Gem Lettuce Salad (with green goddess and candied pepitas), which was simple and bright and had great texture from those candied pepitas. It was a great way to start a meal - light enough that I still had room for a pasta course. Based on the recommendation of my wonderful server, I ordered the orecchiette (with sausage and Swiss chard). Another delicious dish, but wow did it pack a punch. It was spicy and savory and just simple pasta perfection. I loved it. I really wish I had had room for dessert, but I'll make sure to have room next time. I finished my meal with an espresso. This brunch was one of my favorites this year. The food was delicious. The service was outstanding. The restaurant is beautiful. This is one of the prettiest restaurants! First time here for dinner and it was just as good as their brunch! We sat in the main part of the restaurant, which is beautifully decorated. Quiet enough to hear conversation even when all the tables are full. Attentive service from keeping our waters filled to refill on drinks to clearing dishes. We shared the Focaccia Di Recco, brussel sprout salad, burrata and leeks, and sweet potatoes. Focaccia Di Recco - we were underwhelmed and expected something "better" or more special especially as it was advertised as one of the best starters. I don't think anyone from our group would order it again. We expected it to be more like traditional focaccia and this was more like a thin flaky pizza crust with cheese. Brussel Sprout Salad - we quite enjoyed it - tangy dressing, fresh! Would get again! Burrata and Leeks - good flavor but felt on the smaller size. We would probably try one of the other burrata or mozzarella options on a future visit to try something new, but enjoyed this! Sweet Potatoes - absolutely delicious! We almost ordered a second order. 100% will order these again! We all really enjoyed our mains (except one)- most of our group had pasta. The Tagliatelle with bolognese and Parmesan was rich, filling, and cheesy. Goat cheese ravioli also a fantastic choice. Unfortunately, the rigatoni was undercooked - not just al dente - but not fully cooked. The carbonara sauce had good flavor though. I personally would have mentioned it to our server, but my friend didn't want to complain. The Beef Tagliata was a good serving and cooked to what was desired. Chicken Alla Diavola Su Crostone is a very generous serving. It's like a Spatchcocked chicken with a breast, wing, leg, and thigh all served on a thick 1.5" piece of crusty bread and braised onions with chicken au jus and grilled lemon. Three of us had some of this dish and there were still leftovers to go home. Well cooked and great flavor. I could see one of the vegetable sides complimenting this well - especially a green vegetable. We split a tiramisu for dessert - so good! We had an incredibly delicious dinner at Osteria Mozza this evening! It was so close to 5 stars and I won't be surprised if they earn a Michelin star soon. From the moment you step in the door, the ambiance hits you. The dimly lit, huge restaurant is beautifully decorated inside. We were sat in a gorgeous side room that feels like an indoor patio with huge archways and filled with plants. I'm obsessed with that room. First we started with cocktails. I had a Rosa Spritz and my husband had an espresso martini. My Spritz was so light and fruity with a hint of rosemary, and not too sweet. Perfetto! And the espresso martini was to die for with perfect foam on top. How do they do that? Such a great start! Then onto the food. We started with the squash blossom fritti, mozza caprese and their signature focaccia. Everything was delicious! The squash blossoms were perfectly fried and crispy with creamy ricotta filling. The Mozza caprese was served with pesto, baked tomatoes and garlic toast. The mozzarella was so creamy and decadent. But, the focaccia was a stand out. It was so light and crispy - filled with cheese and topped with the good oil and sea salt. So simple and perfect! I've never had such thin, crispy focaccia. WOW! Our next course was pasta. And I have to say, I will be dreaming of their egg yolk raviolo in perfectly browned butter with crispy sage. Cutting into it and watching the yolk pour out was something special. And the filling was so creamy. It was so good, we ordered a second. We also got a tagliatelle bolognese, but that one missed the mark. The pasta was a bit over cooked and the sauce sparse. It's ok! We enjoyed everything else so much. For our secondi, we each got an entree but they could have been EASILY shared by multiple people. I had the branzino that was so crispy and on top of an herb salad. The fish was so delicate and cooked to perfection. My husband's chicken wasn't as successful - it was a bit dry and served on bread that soaked up all of the Jus, leaving his chicken mostly without sauce. Bummer! Finally, dessert. Another show stopper!! You HAVE to get the peanut butter stracciatella pie - with peanut butter filling, an Oreo crust, topped with creme fraiche, caramel and toasted peanuts was so sinful and an incredible ending to an amazing meal. We got there a bit early so we were sat mostly at our reserved time in the outer glassed in area which I was glad about so I could actually hear my friend. We shared the focaccia which was huge and delicious. I had a pasta which was excellent but definitely a small portion - you will not have any leftovers. It's busy so plan accordingly but if you do have to wait grab a dirty martini at the bar (blue cheese olives of course) and have a great convo with a stranger! Their apps really spoke to us so we got the warm dates with prosciutto, the octopus which was cooked to pure perfection, and stuffed squash blossoms. I'd recommend them all over and over again. For my entree I got the carbonara rigatoni which was a smaller portion but it's homemade pasta so I get it. The cracked pepper, fatty bacon, and cream all balanced each other really well. Ventured down in to Georgetown and tried brunch at Osteria Mozza. Located in the old Dean & Deluca building, the interior of the restaurant is very well done. A large round bar greets you after you pass through the small Italian market. The food was outstanding. The Chop salad was like an Italian cold cut sub without the bread. I really enjoyed the salad and the dressing. The pasta dishes were the perfect size for lunch, small yet bursting with flavor. Later in the day the Mozzarella Bar opens near the front of the restaurant. Our waiter advised us to make a reservation to sit at the Mozzarella Bar sometime. There was an unfortunate circumstance where storms caused a power outage and AC issue and the manager immediately came over to every table in the restaurant and apologized while also giving the entire restaurant complementary gelati. The tiramisu was not traditional because the base seems to be a more rustic cake, but it was excellent!!! Great flavor, and the added hazelnuts for garnish add a great crunch and extra flavor! Such a cute Italian shop. It has a nice wooden rustic feel. I went with a couple of friends and had such a nice experience at the bar! Parking is a little hard, so I'd suggest public transit here or parking in the neighborhoods. These dishes here were so pretty and the pasta cooked to perfection. The highlights of mine were the tiramisu and the tagliatelle. Tiramisu is one of my favorite desserts and one of the best ones I've had, aside from in Italy. The tagliatelle was also cooked perfectly and had such a good simple flavor. We were able to try so many appetizers. The standouts for me were the marinated baby peppers, the cheese pair perfectly. I thought that the buratta and peas would be a weird combination, but it worked so well and the peas added a nice crump/snap to the dish. Absolutely lovely! Super spacious, aesthetically pleasing restaurant with fresh, tasty dishes. My tagliatelle bolognese was delicious with hand-made, perfectly al dente pasta. The portion was definitely mid-day and not dinner, but the hearty dish filled me up. My friend's chicken sandwich was a nice size with a perfectly juicy chicken cutlet. The accompanying salad was crisp and tasty, but suuuper savory and (just personal preference), a more acidic sweet-savory vinaigrette would've made for a perfectly balanced sandwich. The three of us stopped by Osteria Mozza with the intention of small bites, but we ended up getting so much food. Since we came on a whim, we were able to grab seats at the bar (first come, first serve). The service was nice and friendly. Before the food arrived, we enjoyed a glass of champagne (not sure which one since I wasn't the one ordering) which was a refreshing start. MARINATED BABY PEPPERS Each order came with 5 baby pepper halves topped with a generous amount of tuna salad. I didn't think I would like the peppers, but these were delicious and the crunchy sweetness went well with the creamy, savory tuna. ARANCINI Each order came with 3 arancini that sat on top of some bolognese and topped generously with shredded parm(?). The rice inside was creamy and soft, but you can still pick out individual grains. The fried exterior was done nicely, and it went well with the sauce. GRISSINI I've never had this appetizer before, but essentially, it's prosciutto wrapped around a long pretzel stick that reminded us of a dog treat. Each order came with 3 of them. I personally didn't love this, since the prosciutto came off easily which meant my next bite was essentially just the pretzel. BURRATA & PEAS Each order came with a slab of burrata topped generously with peas, mint, and shredded parmesan while wrapped around some speck (an Italian cured ham similar to prosciutto). The burrata was creamy and was balanced well with the peas and the cool, refreshing aftertaste from the mint. We also got some toast on the side which went well with the burrata appetizer. TAGLIATELLE I love the chewy texture of the tagliatelle and it soaked up the bolognese well. The pasta was hearty and flavorful, and we thought this was done quite nicely. TIRAMISU Osteria Mozza is known for their tiramisu and I can understand why. It is topped generously with hazelnuts, and there was a perfect ratio of lady fingers and mascarpone. The texture of the lady fingers were on point, and the coffee flavor was nice. It was quite sweet, but still enjoyable. GELATO Not sure which one this was off the dessert menu, but it came with a peanut butter-forward gelato with a thin waffle (black sesame and fennel?) that was perched on top. I wasn't a huge fan of the waffle because of the strong fennel aftertaste, but the gelato was creamy and delicious, albeit a bit too sweet. My friends really enjoyed this one too. Osteria Mozza is pretty solid for food and drinks. I'd recommend getting a reservation in advance if possible, but the bar seating is not a bad option, though it does get a bit crowded when there are more people. read more

The first thing that stood out about this restaurant was the building itself. Expansive yet laid out in a way to still feel intimate, its decor was curated incredibly well, highlighting the architectural features of the underlying structure itself. Due to the size, while it is at times difficult to get a reservation, there are seating options available for groups of all sizes large or small. Classic Italian with some slight twists, the food was all packed with incredible flavors, fresh, and served in proper timing. Some favorites at our table included the burrata and artichokes, mafaldine, chicken alla diavola, and the tiramisu. One note on the service which was exceptional was how the server noted there were 3 people at our table, informed us that the burrata and artichokes typically comes with two pieces, and immediately offered to make it 3 instead. A small detail but something that was greatly appreciated by all of us along with his friendly, knowledgable, and otherwise also incredible service. It is a bit more up-scale, so expect to pay a good bit, but in my opinion it was very much worth it for dinner. Would highly recommend, and will likely return in the future. We went to Osteria Mozza for my husband's birthday in December and had a lovely time. The space is beautiful and we were seated in the heated enclosed "outdoor" section. The brick and all the plants were very nice. Service was great and essentially everyone wished my husband a happy birthday which was really nice. Food wise everything was really tasty! We started with drinks and they were great. We went a little crazy on apps and got the arancini and salted dates plus the much talked about "foccacia". All were so good. I agree it's not really a foccacia more of a flatbread but it doesn't matter. It's salty and cheesy and great! Pastas were good-malfadine the best of the three. Ambience is amazing, an absolutely beautiful restaurant (great for date night!). Looks like a fun place to also grab drinks at the bar without a reservation. We did wait a bit for our reservation (although we were also a few minutes late). One negative is that you have to place all your food selections together ("per the chef") so couldn't order apps and then continue perusing for entrees. The burricotta was an interesting starter, small size wise (enough for us to each have one piece) with a variety of flavors. The drinks were refreshing & strong, although lots of ice. Pasta was smaller than expected & one I have not tried before (honestly though it was thinly sliced veggies at first!) but I enjoyed the flavors as well. fabulous!!! has valet parking option (pricey!) / street parking / there are a couple nearby garages. bathroom is down a flight of stairs. suuuuper vibey romantic chic interior and quite a large space! definitely make a reservation - it was packed on a monday night! they also have matchbooks which is a fun memento. wonderful service. everything we ate was DELICIOUS. the focaccia is more like an inside-out white pizza flatbread that is perfectly cheesy salty and oily. not sure if it's worth the price but still amazing. Mozzarella Di Bufala & Condimenti was super tasty but i almost wish there was more mozzarella. Orecchiette was insanely flavorful and perfectly al dente - to die for!!! top it all of with the Peanut Butter Stracciatella Pie - fancy ice cream cake. would absolutely come back - a gem! read more

This is one of my favorites! I have been here about five times and I have loved the food every time. Definitely have a pasta. They are creative and delicious. The chicken Milanese panini was perfectly cooked. If you come at brunch, definitely get one or more of the pastries. And if you come for dinner, definitely get the focaccia. It's not like any you've had before. The dishes are classics with an interesting twist and the flavors are complex in a good way. The staff is usually very attentive. I've had some glitches there, but mostly the service has been terrific. The room is beautiful. Some tables are noisier than others so if that's concern, just ask them to work with you. We had a dinner reservation and were greeted right away. We were walked to our table and the waiter welcomed us right away. The atmosphere was nice, pleasant and welcoming. There were several people and tables filled given it was a Monday but thankfully our food came out right away. Unfortunately, the pasta I ordered was not what I had expected and my husbands meat was delicious but he said the portion was small. The waiter came to check on us and since he realized I did not like my food , the manager offered free dessert. Very attentive of them and thoughtful. I ordered an ice cream and it was very good. Overall, great attentive service and will be back to see if there are any other dishes worth trying. read more

This place is solid! From the ambience to the service to the food, it seems like it should've been here the whole time instead of Dean and Deluca previously. I love the Italian market in the front. The bar and the center of the restaurant is very cute. Everyone loved all of the food that we ordered. You can't really go wrong with anything on the menu. Highly recommend! read more

Yum! Everything was delicious. Was skeptical about how good mozzarella could be but I was wrong because it was very very good. Got the one with pesto and tomatoes and it was delicious. We also tried the one with leeks and everyone enjoyed that. Did not care too much for the focaccia that was very thin. All of the pastas were amazing and perfectly Al dente and all dishes were good including both steak dishes. read more

What a nice addition to Georgetown. After dining so many times at Filomena and Il Canale, I was hoping for some better Italian food, but never thought it would come. Osteria Mozza really delivers here! The reservations are hard to get and the prices aren't low, but everything is great! The space is stunning and feels comfortable, chic, and exciting. It's typically very busy so people watching is fun, and who doesn't love watching the Georgetown crowd enjoy some of the newest food in town?!? The drinks I had were great. Cocktail menu is hitting hard and the aperitifs are really solid. Wine list isn't bad either with almost only Italian wines (save a champagne or two). Our server was so kind and real, and actually shared his opinions while still being professional, but the real star of the show was the food. The Mozarella with Asparagus was good, but not a must have. Also the Foccacia was good, but again, in my opinion isn't a must have either, though if you have it, the prosciutto is such a clutch addition. What really struck a chord with me were the stuffed pastas. The Egg raviolo was just to die for. The goat cheese ravioli with ramp butter was equally as good but with an entirely different flavor profile. I could have those two dishes every night. The Malfadine would be something I would usually call very good, but it paled in comparison to the stuffed pastas. The Nancy's Caesar was something I didn't trust at first. Deconstructed caesar is silly to me often, but omg, this was a real winner! Again a dish I could eat every day with so much flavor and creativity. I love inventive dishes! The Beets also were inventive and tasty, and had a great labne type sauce they were sitting in. Loved them! The menu has so much more that I need to try, my wife went back the next day for lunch and got the cauliflower and some more pastas. She loved it - I wish I could have gone with her. Also the desserts were fantastic. Olive Oil cake comes out warm! This place is really trying and succeeding! read more
