    Canelé de Bordeaux
    Karen W.

It's been years since I've been somewhere that has a La Columbe shop so I was excited to see there was one near our hotel. I got the same thing I got last time, a latte, and it tasted pretty much the same as the last time I had it. It was expertly crafted with smooth espresso, just the right amount of foam, with lovely latte art. As for food, I think they've definitely diversified their offerings as they now have some very nice looking pastries, including croissants and muffins. I saw they had canelé de Bordeaux which is like spotting a unicorn so I knew I had to try it out. It was alright, not the best rendition I've had but I'm glad they offer it and it was still an enjoyable indulgence. I shared it with the kiddo who absolutely loved it. Pricing was fair for the quality of food and coffee. Service was very friendly.

Came here to get some work done. It's a great spot for working. Best to come with a charged laptop since outlets are limited but it is very spacious overall. Solid coffee.

I went in around 9 am on a weekday morning, thinking the morning rush of workers would have passed because that's when work starts. I was wrong. This location had a long line that moved slowly (only 2 baristas when I went) and the available tables were not wiped down (had wet spots from coffee and water, sticky from food). That being said, the coffee is always solid and I enjoyed my seasonal latte (strawberry mocha).

    Peaches and Cream Latte

I tried their peaches and cream latte with oatmilk, and a shot decaf expresso. It was excellent. I grab one before I walked around city center. Loved the atmosphere. Staff were so nice! This is definitely on my list of go to's...

I surprisingly enjoyed this coffee spot more than I thought I would - all factors considered! (I think I was assuming that it would be another basic/expensive coffee shop in DC). Now, of course, it was slightly pricy. With that said, though, it was very delicious and it almost felt "worth it" (lol) (compared to other shops where I'm like, "meh, another basic/average expensive shop again"). Service was good, ambiance was cute and clean - I would return!

Double espresso heaven. I love their coffee, hands down my favorite, and the variety of pastries is too tempting to pass up.

Needed a place with some coffee for a bit and this place fit the bill. Got the cold brew with some oat milk and it went down smooth from the draft they have. Service was quick too. And there was good seating to return some emails too. A nice place to grab some coffee.

I love this place! I asked if I could get my latte in a mug and they made it so beautifully. I enjoyed sitting in there as their windows make a nice ambiance for taking in being in DC.

This is a super cute coffee shop with great brick layout, huge windows, and nestled in a artsy decorated alleyway. The staff is super friendly straight when you walk in and the coffee itself is pretty good as well. Rich and creamy with ornate mugs. The only thing that felt lacking was the Danish. It was a bit on the dry side and didn't have the richness we were hoping for. Either way it was still a great spot.

The coffee here is great. I almost always get the Corsica. It's dark, rich, chocolatety. They often have guest coffees which can really demonstrate the differences in single bean coffees. They are absolutely worth trying so you understand the different coffee flavors. The staff is always great, friendly, hip and efficient. The only ding I can give them is their spoons. They are clean, but they don't look clean. Don't worry about the spoons, just enjoy the coffee!

Probably my favorite coffee chain right now! I love the Chinatown location; it's super rustic and very appealing with its indoor exposed brick. I get the oat black and tan, and it's delicious every time. The staff is very kind and inviting, and I pride myself on being a regular here. In La Colombe we trust!

Didn't know La Colombe had physical cafes but I'm glad they do! When I came, they ran out of their coffee on tap so I got and iced latte and thought it was really good. The coffee quality was good and smooth and the taste wasn't over powered by the milk. I really liked the ratio and balance of the latte. I worked there for a little bit and there was plenty of tables.

A New Yorker is rating this coffee shop It's just beginning of Chinatown. A good environment outside and inside. If we didn't find a Strawberry drink outside......, perhaps no one recognized here. Brick walls cozy house outside, and you'll enjoy and find a place for seating. it's all self-services and one bathroom set. Enjoy the energy and atmosphere. Across the street from cafe, there's a grass on and chairs for everyone. (Public space I believe.) Since many ppl adding inside photos, I added outside photos.

Nice location and pretty inside, but $3 for a filter coffee? That was just OK? Don't quite get the appeal here.

Ran across this place while looking for the UPS store. I was in the mood for some sort of pastry…read moreso, I popped in. This is a very small bakery but, there were many ppl in line so I figured it would be pretty good. I went in for something sweet as it was about 8 in the morning but, there were scones, fresh out of the oven that I had to try. I got the cheddar and chive scones. OmG. So warm and good. Crisp edges and soft and fluffy everywhere else. I ate it in minutes. This would go amazing with a side of pasta. My goodness. 10 out of 10. When I am back in the area, I'll try a warm Blueberry scone.

We were lucky enough to snag some goodies and got a bit of everything, we just weren't patient enough to wait to photograph everything. We did the Za'atar Gruyère Croissant, chocolate croissant, the cheese biscuit item they had (don't remember exact name) and the sfogliatelle. I'm in search of the best croissant in DC, so I regret not getting the regular croissant on this visit, but the chocolate croissant gave me an idea of what to expect. Buttery, flaky, crispy, with just the perfect amount of sweetness. The typical chocolate croissant was my personal favorite. When we asked what the most popular items were, we were surprised it wasn't the more classic bakery items, but we enjoyed what we tried. We want to go back soon to try some other items as well. My friend got a coffee and also enjoyed that! This is the perfect place to stop by for a treat if you make it in time!

As someone who works in the industry and is very familiar with coffee and coffee shops, I was genuinely shocked by how rude and unprofessional the staff was. I ordered a house latte with an extra double shot, which made it a quad shot, and I also paid for extra ice and requested that it be served in a large cup. It wasn't a complicated order. When I saw a drink come up, I politely asked, "Is that mine by any chance?" The barista immediately told me to "hush" and said, "I'm not talking to you." I found that incredibly disrespectful and completely unacceptable. When my drink was finally handed to me, I simply asked if the quad shot had been added since I had paid extra for it. Instead of answering my question, the barista ignored me entirely, and another employee had to respond. The employee, Taleisha Young, who was wearing glasses, was especially rude throughout the interaction. No customer should be spoken to that way, especially when they're simply asking about an order they paid extra to customize. Customer service and professionalism should be a priority, and this experience fell far below that standard. Unfortunately, I will not be returning, and I will be sharing my experience on other review platforms as well. I hope management addresses the behavior of its staff so other customers don't have a similar experience.

Most recently went as a party of 4 and got the crab beignets, beef arepa, masa gnocci, and parillada for two. Crab beignets were our favorite - perfectly crispy and great flavor. Masa gnocci was a little overcooked this time but still yummy. Beef arepa is a classic dish to get at the royal; two people can easily share one arepa. Parillada was a hearty entree and probably best for 2-3 people. This amount of food altogether was just nice. We probably could have ordered one more thing to be extra full. I don't typically get Latin American food but love all the flavors at this restaurant. Next time will try their breakfast menu!

It had a beautiful chew with the classic burger toppings with an amazing pairing of their slaw with a garlicy aioli. The bun was very pillowy and soft with a nice crust. They also never lack on their specialty lattes. I got their carrot cake latte and it was just so fabulous. Extremely smooth espresso and perfectly steamed milk. Syrups made in house of course and you can tell. Just a perfect latte. I usually am an iced latte person but I recommend getting their lattes hot. Hits different.
