[[HIGHLIGHT]]This place is beautiful! Inside is modern.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I was actually surprised that their sweets were mostly cakes. I got an iced latte and some beans for home. The beans were freshly roasted in NYC. I can't fault them for that though I didn't think they tasted particularly fresh. With so many great local roasters, I'll stick closer to home in the future but I'm glad I gave this place a try.

I stumbled upon this cafe while walking to my conference. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I absolutely love how much seating area there was to get work done.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They have a great options for lunch and breakfast. I ordered the chicken Caesar wrap with the honey oat latte and it was so divine! The staff was very nice as well. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I honestly loved the vibe of the coffee shop.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I wish there was one in Orlando! I'll definitely come back when I visit dc again

Yes the prices are high, but the food and drinks hit every time and if you're just getting a drink, service is pretty quick. I visited this location multiple times this week and got various drinks, including the hot and cold version of the pistachio white mocha (so good). I also ordered the chicken Caesar wrap twice (moist, crunchy, big portion, makes for a great lunch). The chocolate chip cookie was good if you're a fan of that thick levain-style cookie. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Come for the espresso drinks, stay for the work-friendly WiFi.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

This was ok. Went on a Saturday mid-morning. It wasn't empty but wasn't too full either. Most of the tables are large and had 1-2 people at each. Ambiance was nondescript nice. We tried coffee, pastries and breakfast. Coffee was fine but expensive- drip was over $5. Pastries were good. I was disappointed in the disposable cups and silverware for dine in orders. For breakfast I tried avocado toast and a breakfast sandwich. They were both pretty good quality with tons of avocado on them and a tasty side salad. Both were a bit pricey for what they were and took a long time to come to the table despite the many employees and relatively few patrons. WiFi didn't work for me without logging into a third party platform- no thanks Overall it satisfied the need at the time but unlikely that I will be back. Unsolicited advice for owner: replace disposable cups and silverware for reusable ones for dine in order.

For Five was started by two friends from Queens, New York but I actually didn't hear about them until I stopped by this location in DC city center! I do appreciate their creative coffee drink options; I just wish the explanations were somewhere more prominent so people in line can see/decide before ordering. I went for the Gotham Mocha which was not bad. Espresso flavors were present but I wish the chocolate part was more prominent. The spanakopita-like pastry seemed to look thicker in the display case but it was still very well-seasoned with a good amount of spinach and dill. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Good amount of space and tables both indoor and out door.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Its super close to the convention center and the nearby hotels.

I was very excited to try a matcha this morning. I paid 9 dollars. It was not good. I dislike writing poor reviews so maybe I'll come back for a pastry or coffee per the name suggestion. But I was told it was sweetened and I paid for a cup of milk.

Fabrizio was excellent on this casual slightly cooler Sunday morning. He explained to me that the orange? marmalade pound cake with mint and something else on top had no filling inside. Blueberry cake had nothing inside beside cake and more crème. It is picky of me but it is a way for me to not overindulge too. He and many others are expertly featured on this corny TV backdrop. I wish my Louie could be stronger on maple syrup and the cookie with more flavorful strawberry filling. The cookies here are made fresh. For those cookies not used up they should totally TooGoodToGo them away if they don't already. I was too full from food at other places and the day before . So I did not choose any food on this day. The clean bathroom is worth visiting just to visit lol.

I love this cafe! Great service, delicious coffee and food. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I also loved the ambiance - modern and good vibes.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Came here twice during my trip. The breakfast sandwich was so good and so was the blueberry scone.

Coffee is good. Variety of corr s and teas is good. I wish it tasted a little more fresh or unique. Just taste like plain coffee. Service is really good though. They have lots of pastry's and the food specials are also good for the mornings.

A mostly strong portal-moment at For Five Coffee Roasters Visited during a conference stay in Washington, DC, looking for a café where I could unplug and write. From walk-up to takeaway, this was a near-complete sensory shift. First Impressions & Ambience - [[HIGHLIGHT]]The exterior signage and outdoor seating invited me in; seating outside worked well for creative work.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Food & Coffee - I ordered what I believe was the For Five Bacon Egg + Cheese (fresh-baked croissant, scrambled eggs, cheddar cheese, harissa bacon) and a side salad, plus a specialty coffee with pistachio syrup ("Dubai Chocolate" variant). The sandwich was very good--flaky croissant, bold bacon, fresh greens on the side. The coffee was also very good. Service - This is where things faltered. The staff member taking my order seemed rushed and disengaged. Another diner overhead had the same reaction. The tone was curt, which felt discordant in an otherwise strong environment. Space & Flow - The café spaces were clean, well designed, and comfortable. When rain began, I packed up easily and caught my ride back to the hotel--so the follow-through was decent. Overall Experience - If the service element had matched the rest of the experience, I'd call this a full 'portal-crossing' (stepping into another world). As it stands: 4.5 stars. Highly recommend for food and coffee, with a note: the human connection needs work. Tip: Ask specifically about specialty syrups or off-menu drinks (e.g., pistachio syrup) if you're tempted, as the staff might not always present them clearly.

Came in on a really cold day and just wanted a warm cup of coffee and a treat. Got the seasonal lavender latte and two cookies -s'more's and the double chocolate. The coffee shop serves a variety of coffee and food aside from pastries. It was busy and the food looked and smelled amazing. It was pretty busy. But service was fast and enjoyable! I would def recommend for a treat yo self day!

Went on a Monday morning during a trip to DC. Was excited because of the reviews were positive but the latte and cappuccino were average and cookies were super dry. Service was good enough and [[HIGHLIGHT]]I enjoyed the vibe[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. Wouldn't go again, there is much better coffee with cuter atmosphere all over DC. Definitely average

I've been on a shakshuka kick lately, so I opted for the the Sweet Potato Shakshuka, which is described as: Sweet Potato Curry, with Chickpeas and Sunny Eggs with a the chicken add-on - gotta get that protein in, after all. This was one of the most unique shakshukas I'd ever had... It literally tasted like a curry dish you might get at your local Indian restaurant, with a bit of a brunch flair to it. The curry itself had a wee bit of spice and was a bit sweet - but that could have been from the sweet potatoes. The chicken was served in a bowl on the side, which felt a bit... odd... I would've expected it to be incorporated into the main dish. It was kind of bland and a bit lukewarm, so I don't know that I'd order that again... but I would definitely order this again!

If you do anything when you go, please make sure to get the biscuits. Hands down THE BEST BISCUITS I've ever had lol. They are the most flaky and buttery biscuits, you can count each layer that these have. Pro tip is to ask for butter and the house made jam. An Elegant Breakfast Spot with Wonderful Staff (Just Mind the Checkout)…read moreThe Atmosphere & First Impressions High-End Finishes: The restaurant is beautifully designed with high-end finishes, creating a very upscale environment. Impeccably Clean: Upon arriving, we immediately noticed how clean and well-maintained the entire space was. Warm Welcome: The hostess was incredibly kind and set a great tone for our breakfast. The Food & Service Fantastic Menu: The menu offers a wonderful assortment of options. We were originally drawn in because we were excited to try their homemade Pop-Tart! Accommodating & Kind: Our waiter was a very nice gentleman. The kitchen was more than happy to make small adjustments to our orders for dietary needs, which we deeply appreciated. Kudos to the Staff: The waitstaff does a phenomenal job, especially considering the clientele. This area tends to attract a lot of pompous professionals, and we witnessed customers being incredibly rude to the staff on two back-to-back visits. A Note on the Crowd: For example, we were in on a Thursday afternoon and watched a large group of business professionals completely ignore their server. They wouldn't even acknowledge them or say thank you. It felt like olden times, where the staff were treated like servants to a king or queen and were just expected to take abuse. It was really bad. A Quick Note on the Checkout Process Rushed Payment: The payment process felt a bit rushed. The server hands you a small payment machine and quickly pushes you to complete the transaction right then and there. Keep an Eye Out: We aren't the type of people to scrutinize a bill closely--if it's right around the expected amount, we don't worry about it. However, the lady at the table right before us was loudly complaining about a service fee on her bill, and she ended up not leaving a tip at all because of it. Combined with how fast they push the payment machine on you, it might be worth taking a quick second to look over your total if you are the type of person who likes to verify the fine print. Come on people, do better! Overall Impression It is an expensive spot, but the food quality, cleanliness, and excellent service from the waitstaff make it worth a visit. The staff handles a tough crowd beautifully!

I sat at the bar and the bartender was friendly but busy restocking as it was towards the end of the day. I had the cheery old fashion as she promised it was one of their stronger drinks. I didn't find this to be true, it was actually overly sweet and tasted more like syrup. The second drink I picked was the bourbon bash. I thought this one would be sweet as it's made with different juices but it was actually on the stronger side. Definitely stronger and better than the Cherry old-fashioned. To snack on I went with the steak and cheese, eggrolls and bacon, blue cheese brussels sprouts. The egg rolls were great. Lots of flavor and the texture was spot on. The brussels sprouts were good for the most part. They did go a little overboard with the blue cheese for my tastebuds. My second visit was for a late breakfast. I started with an Irish coffee by recommendation of the bartender. It was a great way to start the day. It was strong enough but with the right balance. My breakfast plate didn't meet my expectations. My eggs were too running, bacon was chewy, toast was stale and the hash browns were only cooked on one side. I did ask for them to be crispy. I picked at it enough to curb my hunger.

We were sat in the solarium area, and it was during the heat dome, and it was really warm in there. Otherwise, though, it's completely charming inside and reminds us of some of the best French bistros we've been to in the country (e.g. Balzathar, Le Supreme). The three cocktails we tried--the frose, le jardin, and the clouseau--were all stunners. And of course the bread deserves another special mention, *especially* the room temperature butter. Thank you for not serving hard as hell butter! We shared the warm shrimp salad to start, and for $31, we were expecting more than a few avocado slices and 4 shrimp on it, but c'est la vie. The dressing was incredible, and the greens were crunchy. That's actually the only dish of the night that we thought was unfairly overpriced. One of us ordered the burger and the other got the rabbit pappardelle--you've got to get rabbit when you see it on a menu, which isn't often enough! There was a good amount of super tender meat and the pasta was perfectly al dente, all in a lightly stunning sauce. Chef's kiss. The burger was, no surprise, another triumph. There was juicy meat, bun integrity, and all the right accouterment notes. The fries are standard. Our daughter got their mac-n-cheese, which is probably just the gratin dish renamed. It was OK. We kind of got out of control for dessert and ordered the pot de creme, the cookie dough ice cream, and the profiteroles. Honestly, these were all good, but nothing that stood out as exemplary as with the savory stuff. Our only major complaint was the service. It was really spotty and while there was a very, very long gap in between when we got our water and then put in our drinks, but our mains came out almost directly after the salad. And the guy was just not very hospitable. Not necessarily a "bad" experience...it just could have been a lot better. Four stars, and we have already declared that we will be back again to "The Dip" because there is so much else on the menu that we want to try.

The restaurant business is tough, so I drafted this review with a bit of sadness. I had a good time…read morein large part due to the atmosphere and my date (my girlfriend). That said, a couple missteps that should not have occurred took this review into the negative realm. Let's start with the positive. This appears to be a great new addition to the neighborhood, and I hope it is supported. The appetizers were delicious and nicely presented. The pistachio feta with grilled pita was tasty and interesting. The halloumi with orange marmalade was as well. The hostess was engaging and friendly. The atmosphere was calming with a touch of casual refinement. One of the entrees was delicious (the scallops and grits). I'd order all three items mentioned so far, again. The negative. The second entree was the short rib. It was tender and.... Wow, way too salty. A shame because it was otherwise well cooked and nicely plated. But whoa. When the hostess came by, my girlfriend kindly said it was a bit salty. I "refined" her answer and said she was being nice, but it was very salty. The hostess went to note this for the kitchen (a positive for her), and because we are on the first floor outside the kitchen window I heard the conversation. The chef responded that he knew what had happened. Earlier when preparing the short rib someone (in his words) blasted it with salt. What this tells me is that they knew they'd made something close to inedible but served it anyway. At the end of our meal we had leftovers of the two apps and the short rib. We asked for a bit of extra pita to take home and they provided. Then the bill arrived. Not only was there no adjustment for the inedible short rib, but they charged us $2 for the pita. The least they could have done was just given us the pita. Ah well. Those two missteps; 1) serving a known and improperly prepared entree, and 2) not doing something to make good when reported, have led to this sadly negative review for a place that could and should have gotten a positive one. Hopefully someone there will see this, and the experience and review will be a learning opportunity that will help them thrive.

First time visiting Milk and Honey at the Wharf. I have been to the College park location though…read more Unfortunately, I did not have the best experience at this location. We were seated almost immediately which was great but it took the waiter 15 min to come to our table and the restaurant wasn't really crowded. Once he came to our table we gave him our order for drinks. He did not offer water so we asked for water. It took approximately 25 min to receive our drinks and still no water. He finally brought the water when I asked a second time. While we were waiting for our drinks he was steadily walking around aimlessly until he realized we did not receive our drinks. After delivering our drinks we were finally able to order our food. Our food came out in a decent time however, I was so annoyed by this point. For our entrees we ordered the Cajun salmon with grits and the Cajun pasta with chicken and salmon. The Cajun salmon was good but they gave a small portion in ratio of the amount of grits given. The grits were a bit cold and could have used some more seasoning. The Cajun pasta with chicken and salmon was delicious but could have been hotter as well. For drinks we ordered the pineapple Hennessy and whisky margarita. The Pineapple Hennessy was delicious. The margarita could have been stronger and less sweet. Overall, it was decent experience. Not sure if I will return though. Cheers!
