Great service in Paris! We found this place on our walk from the Lourve to Saint Chappelle and we are so happy we ducked in here out of the rain. All the servers were super gracious and friendly with us. We were seated in the glassed-in front portion of the restaurant which was honestly kind of cozy on a rainy afternoon. We ordered two sandwiches. They both came open-faced and with this amazing cheese melted atop. We also ordered hot chocolate which made for a great dessert. read more

I do not give 1 star lightly as usually can find something redeeming so gets a 2 star. They overcooked hard boiled egg so turned green. Onion soup had cheese at bottom of bowl. Veal was shoe leather. Ham was just a salty piece of ham thrown on top. Burratta was cold which did not help the very Al dente pasta cook more. The food here was tasty and not badly priced. I appreciated the English written on the menus since my French is very limited. The waiter was able to have our steaks cooked exactly how we liked, one pink and one bloody. The wait staff was cheerful. We were striking out on a good steak since the cuts were different from our usual in the US but the rump steak had no fat at all which was great! We wanted to have authentic French crepes in Paris so we stopped by La Cooperative as we saw their big crepe menu in English. I had Mont-Blanc and my husband had Iceberg. The crepes were big portioned but nothing special actually. I have had much better ones in Japan. We also had a glass of orange juice and a cup of tea. Unlike a lot of places in Europe, their orange juice was not fresh squeezed to my disappointment. The atmosphere of the cafe was good, especially the outside seating. They have heated lamps and blankets, so it is not too cold even in winter. Their bathroom is very weird because there is no cover for the toilet so I guess you have to squat?? They also have no wifi. For these two reasons, I think foreign visitors should go somewhere else. read more

Ehhh we happened to be passing by and hopped in, not realizing how close it was to the Louvre (=tourist place). (Not that there is anything wrong with being a tourist! We are tourists! But sometimes restaurants that cater only to tourists allow their quality to drop.) It wasn't terrible, but nothing had salt, not even the french fries. The soup was so bland and runny, no broth flavor, no onion flavor, just like boiled vegetables blended with too much water. It was served with day old bread as croutons, as it is done, but they weren't toasted or broiled. Just super dry and needing to sit in the soup for a long time to be eaten. It was exactly what I made as a poor student except I would've put onions and salt in there and toasted the bread with some olive oil. The service was good and the place was clean. Eh, the food here was okay. The server seemed more interested in getting us out of our seats than real service which is pretty standard to an American tourist in France, but still. My friend and I came here for lunch and got pasta and an appetizer which were pretty bland and boring compared to other meals we had on the trip. By the time we finished eating, we realized that the French speakers in the cafe got way better service than us, were pushed to buy more, and had more attentive care. Not really a great experience, but it was just a place to fill up before exploring the city some more. read more

This is your typical corner Parisian restaurant. Lots of little tables inside and out, full bar, lots of waiters and good food. Prices were decent and service was good. The food portions were amazing, glad I split a meal with my mom. We ordered a ham/mozzarella baguette with fries. It was an oversized baguette! The fries were crispy and salted just right. The salmon baguette was fresh and flavorful as well. Great place to eat after a morning visit to the Louvre. And much cheaper than eating at the Louvre. read more

Americans far from home and searching for a friendly, accommodating restaurant with good faire should be pleased to visit this place. Our waiter greeted our weak attempt at French with kind guidance and help. The service is deliberate and like all of Paris, moves at a relaxed pace. However, our meals came out quickly and were prepared extremely well. My teen had steak frites, the rest of us enjoyed pasta dishes. The pasta was fresh, cooked perfectly. My smoked salmon version and my wife's pesto were filling, generous in proportion, and quite tasty. We didn't stay around for dessert, but expect this would be a great spot to visit again. read more

Came here after going to the L'ouvres and we were dreaming of this place the rest of our trip. GO THERE! The food was so amazing: we had the croque madame (still the best one I had in the city) and the steak frites and the quiche and everything was absolutely delicious including the drinks. Everything was also not expensive for Paris and the wait staff was great. They recommended food and drinks as well as next places to frequent. I wish we would have eaten there every day! I will definitely go back the next time that I'm in Paris! I have no idea why they don't have 5 stars because after being there for 10 days, this topped it for us! read more

We ate here on our first night in Paris, and returned here again for our last meal. Our family loved the steak, which was cooked perfectly. I had a cheap glass of the best wine I had during the trip. The kids loved the crepes and vanilla ice cream, which was helpfully served with a pitcher of hot chocolate sauce and a little sidecar of whipped cream. The servers are genial and speak great English, and the ambiance near the Louvre reminds you that you are in the best city in the world. I had just arrived in Paris, and my girlfriend and I wanted to hit the ground running with starting our trip of doing touristy things, like going the Louvre. So we're walking down Rue de Rivoli, towards the Louvre, but then there's one problem - neither of us had really eaten in like, six hours, and we were hungry. By now we're literally a block from the start of the Louvre property, and our options for the numerous eateries have dwindled; and this part of Paris is so tourist-heavy, that most places aren't anything special or really that, well, Parisian, it seemed. One of my cardinal rules when traveling is to try and not eat anything that I can easily acquire at home, so if I had any room to be picky at this point, I was going to demand the kind of food that is very, Parisian, and hopefully nothing that would be like McDonald's or something. So upon seeing a croque monsieur listed on the menu, we dove into Cafe La Cooperative, and thankfully were able to be seated right away. Seeing as how we'd been in Paris for just an hour at this point, I was at first a little surprised at how perfect English our server addressed us, but considering the frequency of English speaking people I just experienced in Brussels, and the fact that we were in the heart of touristy things in Paris, it really shouldn't have come to any surprise. Regardless, the cafe is small, and as I learned to be the case for lots of restaurants in Paris, very, very cramped. At no point would anyone be able to fully extend their arms and not touch another human being. Not to say that such is a bad thing, but it's more a description of just how busy the place can be at lunchtime on even a Monday afternoon. The croque monsieur I ordered came pretty quickly, and it was served open faced; honestly, I have no idea what the standard presentation of a croque monsieur is, but it didn't matter because I was hungry and devoured it pretty quickly. Ultimately, it's a toasted ham and cheese sandwich, but it a type of toasted ham and cheese sandwich that I can't easily acquire back in the states. Nor, can I eat it in a Parisian cafe. It was delicious, hit the spot well, and served as a good introduction to the types of food that Paris is seemingly known for. My only gripes, are I think criticisms based on a difference of culture. One, is the smoking, because apparently everyone in Paris smokes like a gotdamn chimney, and I have a general disdain for smoking. But I'm not going to tell the Romans what to do in Rome, much like I'm not going to tell the French what to do in France, so I had little choice but to tolerate. The other is the general slow pace of service; I know in Paris, servers are actually paid a living wage, but at the same time, I'm wondering if that is the reason why attention and service is so slow, or just the fact that we got a particularly slow server? The bottom line is that I wanted to pay and leave, not because I'm an impatient American, but because my vacation time was sparse, and when I'm done, I'm done and would rather not just sit around and sip drinks that aren't free refills. Overall, I thought Cafe La Cooperative was just fine, and I'm glad that they were serving things I heard about like croques and rumsteak plates, and not just trying to cater to tourists with safe garbage that could be found anywhere in the world. read more

Came and ate here 3 times during my stay in Paris. They seemed to have excellent options for breakfast and lunch! I ordered bacon and fried eggs for breakfast which was cooked to perfection and also provided complementary yummy Paris bread! Additionally for lunch they had light options to keep you going in the 40 degree summer weather. For example fruit salads in lunch portions or usual salads. I would give zero stars if possible. I am an American and was looking for something close to my flat and fast on my first day in the city. The server was rude and hurried. Granted I speak little French, but he basically laughed at my family's attempts to be Respectful of the language. He never once checked in during our meal.
