My wife and I wanted to try another new authentic Mexican food spot. Knowing this restaurant is located in Downtown Oakley it would be pretty busy on the weekend. I got takeout on the following orders: Super burrito with carne asada Super nachos with carnitas Horchata When I called, the gentleman had to put me on hold for about 5 mins. It was a long wait, but I can hear in the background that it sounded very busy so I understood. He finally took my order, gave me a number and ready in 7 mins. When I arrived, many people were in line so I was glad on ordering takeout. I walked up to the pick up line and gave my number. The lady handed me my order and I checked out. I asked if they already added sauce, but unfortunately I had to go to the salad bar and fill the horchata myself. Luckily, there was no line and you can grab the cup trays too. Even though the burrito was overcooked for me, the blend of all the ingredients made up for it so I actually enjoyed it. I had other super burritos that were much larger though. I've been a regular customer for a long time and usually enjoy the food, but I had a very disappointing experience on 12/4/2025 I placed an order by phone, and when I arrived, part of my order was missing. I returned to the counter to get the correct items, and instead of helping me resolve the mistake, the employee spoke over me, became confrontational, and even accused me of lying about what I ordered. I remained calm, but the employee continued to interrupt, dismiss my concerns, and discuss me with other staff while I was right there. I asked for a manager because the situation was escalating unnecessarily. The issue could have been resolved easily with good customer service, but the way I was treated was unprofessional and disrespectful. I hope management addresses this and provides proper customer service training, because customers deserve to be treated with respect -- especially when they are simply asking for what they paid for. I was afraid to eat the food because she laughed as if they might've spit in my food. Honestly, I really wish I had gotten a refund. Her customer service was so horrible. I've been here a number of times and always satisfied. Their food is delicious, prices are decent and their service always fast and friendly. Whether in the mood for simply a burrito or one of their combo dishes, they are all good. I have never had a problem with special requests. There is an open area outside with a roof covering. The menu is displayed clearly and large on the wall. Walk on up to the order window, usually there's a line. Place your order and pay. They'll ask you whether it is for here or to go. You'll get a receipt with an order number. When your food is ready, they'll call your order number at the pick up window. Be sure to grab any condiments, plastic utensils and napkins you'll need. If eating there, take your tray to one of the tables outside or the dining room inside. Even though your view is only of the parking lot, there is something I love about sitting outside, enjoying my food with some natural light and fresh air. They are located in an "L" shaped set of stores on the corner of Brentwood Blvd and Oak St. Although very busy, I have never had a problem with parking. read more

Can't ever go wrong with a quick meal here. I'm vegetarian so I hear most people go for their seafood dishes but I love their veggie burritos and quesadillas. My boyfriends mom relocated to Brentwood and when I saw there was a la costa here I was so happy! Their outdoor patio makes it a nice spot to have a relaxing outdoor lunch. I just ate lunch at La Costa which has an average rating of 4 stars. I read the reviews after eating there to see if I ordered the wrong meat. I noticed the reviews were either really low or really high with not a lot in the middle. I figured with 4 stars I would try it out. I'm a carnitas guy so I ordered three carnitas tacos. The menu notes the carnitas are roasted but it tasted more like it had not been seasoned and was boiled to make it tender. It could be more that my preference is for the pork to be marinated and then deep fried. I liked the onions, cilantro, salsa and the tortillas were soft. I would rate the carnitas a generous 2.5 stars with the review rounded to 3 stars. The carnitas didn't have any flavor, tasted and looked like boiled/steamed meat but it was tender. I plan to go there again and try maybe Al pastor tacos, chili verde plate or the enchilada plate. There were several customers there so I might have ordered the wrong item. read more

This is a service review only. Came today at 2:30 ish pm. Went to the window, ordered: Carne Asada Burrito Chicken Burrito with extra hot salsa Jalapeño & carrots on the side 2 Horchata She stated it was $18. I knew from previous visits this was incorrect, it's $25. I asked if she had both Horchatas, she said "yes" as she was handing me the receipt. ......I was questioning the order because I knew it was the wrong price and she didn't bother to even look or read it back to me....just took the cash and tried to send me on my way....... I looked at the receipt, a quick glance told me what I was missing. I told her that I was missing the chicken burrito. I did miss the taco that was on the receipt....but I wasn't looking for a taco, I was looking for a $10 burrito....So she quickly created a second order. Told me was $10 and passed another receipt over letting me know they would be called together. Like...she was huffy. They weren't called together. Not a big deal, but when I reminded her that there were two orders....it went downhill. She was now working the other window where they pass out the food. I told her that she called one of my orders, but not both (as she had stated they would do...but I didn't say that outloud). She hands me the first order, then grabs the second that I said was still needed...asks if I want anything else as she's shoving the bags at me under the glass. Yes, the horchatas....and as I'm looking in the bag, she again rudely asks me if I need anything else. I explained that I was trying to see what was in the bag before I asked for anything additional. She snapped back while I was still speaking and said that nothing was in the bag, that's why she was asking. Like....ok....I'd like some salsa then. She pushed two different flavors at me. I get to the car already telling my husband about what a bad attitude she had... Well, we get home and guess what????? I have: A carne asada burrito A cold chicken taco that is soaking wet, entirely drowned in red sauce of some sort, like El Tapatio with a lemon (not lime & a dry slice of radish). 2 Horchatas No Jalapeño or carrots AND No Chicken Burrito....BUT...I have Another Carne Asada burrito, that I didn't order, nor will I eat because it's beef and I can't eat that. I had no plans on reviewing LaCosta because it's relatively consistent with their food....but the fact that she had gotten the order wrong to begin with and was super huffy about things when she didn't take the order correctly and then pushed me off by telling me something that wasn't true....charged me for something that I didn't order, and then the second order was entirely wrong AND then she was cranky while I was even trying to look to double check the order before I left.... I consider that a theft of $13 of my money. $10 for the item that I ordered and didn't get, $3 for an item that I didn't even order and was inedible for anyone to eat since it was drenched in a wet sauce of some sort....AND I had to deal with her crabby attitude that was given to me....for zero reason except for her back to back mistakes. I get why she was trying to shove me off and not let me look at what she had given me. That is exactly WHY I was even looking to begin with. I am normally a chicken girl but the carne asada and carnitas are the move here! The carnitas is perfectly juicy while also crispy! The carne asada is nice and tender and its all so good! My friend brought me here after we finished cherry picking nearby, and I was super excited for Mexican. We ordered the shrimp taco plate, and I would say the tacos were okay, not great. I found the shrimp very lacking in flavor, and the added pinto beans didn't help. I was contemplating whether I liked the beans in the tacos or not - they added more heft, but they weren't salted enough and also made the taco starchy. I found myself wanting some salsa or hot sauce to douse on them, but used the lemon and crunched on a pungent radish instead.
