The food was bland . After reading the reviews for this place we decided to give them a shot. The location is nice and all the patio is good on a cool day. One thing we did like was the margaritas presentation was good . We order oriental rice which said it was spicy but was more bland than white rice, it came with out bean sprouts which it said it came with. We also ordered rollos la Costa they looked better than they tasted . Also another disappointment it was actually supposed to be spicier than the rice but they only tasted like warm cream cheese. In the description it said it came with octopus which we could not find . All in all the alcohol is good the food is bland I would recommend it to someone whose taste buds are dead or they can't smell. Go spend your money elsewhere, good luck. read more

Walking into this restaurant, it gave off a good vibe. Nice layout and friendly atmosphere. The food was good, but pricey. I struggled understanding the menu since the entire menu was in Spanish and all the staff only spoke Spanish. I checked out the online menu after we left and the menu is in English. My wife got the lobster tacos which were delicious and I got the Norteno tacos which did not have much shrimp in them. The margaritas had good flavor, but it can be finished in two sips. So now there's one closer to home!! McAllen, being that there was only two of us dining out (not the whole Brady Bunch) we decided to give this location a try!! Must say seems more upscale, they have a nice bar area to enjoy your drinks and watch a game, also the patio area seems some sort of romantic (needs candles and pianist? probably asking to much??) or real nice for a private party!! Decided to try this restaurant with my husband and daughter while around the area. Read some reviews and saw pictures on yelp and looked like a very good restaurant. Needless to say we will never be going back. To start off the chips were not homemade, they came packaged? They were very hard, my 4 year old didn't enjoy them as she loves to eat the chips at the restaurants when provided. We ordered something called mar y tierra I believe it was. Was not a big fan. My daughters fish was gross, I was afraid if she ate it she would get sick. Spent all this money for nothing when we could of gone somewhere else much better, tastier and worth the price. The only time this restaurant was good was the first month it opened (the honeymoon phase) I agree with the other posters, service is terrible-everyone that works there has an attitude of "owner" and you have to be chasing the waiters for service; as far as the food, it is not consistent, I guess the taste depends on the weather and the mood around the kitchen. Loved this place for lunch with my boss after a meeting in Rio Grande City. Seated and greeted promptly. The "chips and salsa" is above and beyond: thick, fresh, warm chips, green sauce and chipotle adobo sauce, refrieds so great, Mexican limes, and seafood broth. I had an octopus tostada and shrimp al Diablo. There were at least 10 good sized butterflied grilled shrimp, excellent sauce, a sprinkling of Oaxaca cheese, and crema. The red cabbage side is a must-try. There were 5 or 6 different bottled salsas on the table too. Service was very friendly; my tea was never empty and we were offered (and accepted!) additional seafood broth. We have been here twice and the food has been tasty, consistent and overall well worth the price. Tonight, we had exceptional service by server Jonathan. He was on point with making us feel very welcomed and with prompt service. Home made tortillas and tostadas instead of chips are a plus. Seafood stew shots to start and FRESH cut limes are appreciated. We recommend the steak and shrimp molcajete... and have it prepared at the table... it's a nice fire show for the little ones. Had mixed feelings on this place. Our waiter was very nice but did not explain a whole lot. The chips and dip were actually plastic wrapped crackers and what looked like matso crackers. Not the usual bowl of chips. We were given little dishes of red and green salsa, of which one was very spicy hot. And some pickled onions that were also very spicy. We were given little glass mugs of what we thought was warm salsa but turned out to be little tortilla soups. Was not told it was soup. The menu is large but not conventional expected Tex Mex type food. Lots of small taco plates with many being seafood that evidently you order a few of as the tacos are very small. I had the steak/shrimp fajita which came out flaming in a stone bowl that was likely heated to 1,000 degrees. The steak and shrimp had a sort of burnt cheese mixed with it. Overall I was not crazy about the flavor or texture. I had a few of the micheladas and they seemed sort of weak in the tomato juice/lime concoction that goes with it. I would like to try this place again and go with some other more seafood choices. read more

What a very big disappointment!!! After reading the reviews I was looking forward to checking this place out unfortunately big mistake. The restaurant had 14 diners including us ( not even a third of its capacity) with 10 wait staff. I waited 15 minutes and observed the staff just hanging out at the bar laughing and talking or go attend to the other patrons. No one came to our table to even get a drink order. Went to celebrate my birthday and they ended up giving me expired chicken. The server even stated that the chicken that they have given us was expired. Next day came I got super sick started vomiting and with a huge stomach pain. Went to the doctor and stated I had gotten food poisoning. Went to the restaurant the following day and talk to the manager. At first the individual stated that it might have been the cheese. Then later on that day I took Doctor letter of proof and then the manager stated that they had mixed the chicken with another seafood the day of the incident. We were 7 people in the table and that chicken was expired had an odor and weird/ugly taste. I missed days at work and had to pay out of pocket to go to the doctor.
