Disappointing from start to finish. After being seated and waiting quite some time, we ordered our drinks. It took 3 attempts to get a "dirty martini" made correctly. The other drink we ordered was a pineapple mixed drink. It was brought to the table with watermelon instead of pineapple. We were given one small bag of "chips" for our table to share. The food arrived quite some time later. The shrimp panchos were not impressive. The shrimp was very small and it was served on pieces of a tostada broken in half. The Madrazo shrimp and fish was drowning under a sea of spicy sauce. The fish and shrimp were hardly visible. Terrible overall. read more

Each individual tostada was small so order more than one if you are hungry! Expect it to be somewhat noisy either with music or people talking. Been there a couple of times I've enjoyed the food. But it feels like they cater to the Mexican culture. Meaning some of my friends feel uncomfortable, waiters speak Spanish and assume menu should be Spanish and when you ask them for English they roll there eyes or look at you bring menu and make comment. Good food but watch your reciept. Was there on friday, saw my bill of over 100.00, no prob. But They applied extra charges for paying w cc. That problem was settled by waiter taking less of a tip. Let them suffer from lack of waiters resulting in poor service due them not wanting to carry the cc charges by recieving less tips. Business shouldnt have to charge the customer. It was an overall good experience, I had the langosta tacos which were amazing!! A bit too hoy for my liking, too much jalapeño or serrano that I couldn't scoop out. My kid had the shrimp quesadillas, he loved them!! My husband was not that lucky, he ordered the arroz and it turns out it was more like a seafood soup. Not ehat he expected and not what he likes. He ordered 2 tacos shrimp and tuna by the piece, which were very small and just ok. We will be coming back, but it seems to be a hit or a miss depending on what you order. read more

don't go to this restaurant never! i went there and was charged for what i didn't order. when i ordered to a waiter we asked about two kinds of soup and one other dish. when three dishes came, i thought they misunderstood my order. when i received a bill, it included one dish that we didn't talke at all. it costed $30, one of the most expensive dishes in the menu. this restaurant intentionally charges customers more expensive cost. i complained to a manager. she said "you must pay because you ate it." read more

Wonderful!!! We arrived starving and were met with a beautiful restaurant, little to no wait time, and friendly staff (small language barrier, but easily overcome). Our food was prompt and as delicious as it looked!!! My husband ordered Trompo Tacos, my son (11 years old) got the kid's quesadillas, and I got the raw oysters. I tried to ask the waitress what exactly was on this kid's plate but it soon became clear there was a language barrier. I don't usually worry about that bc ordering food doesn't require too many words, but if this is an issue for u- use google translate. The waitress did get the manager got to help which worked out perfectly. The things that could be improved was the cocktail sauce. It was really sweet. However much to my delight, the oysters were so insanely good and fresh that all they needed was a little lime and a splash of hot sauce!!! (Usually I drench them, so this says A LOT! Best oysters I have had in awhile and it's out of season!!! I didn't eat the complimentary chips and variety of salsas but my husband gave them a 7 out of 10: typical, nothing special. My son's food was sparse and could have used a side or two and done without the pico, soggy lettuce, and guacamole, in his opinion. Overall: Great food, good ambiance, wonderful staff. La Costa Grill, first time I actually review one of their restaurants? been to the San Juan location multiple times, always on someone's birthday or a special occasion, would order the party platters 30 chicharrones (fried fish), shrimp platters, very well accompanied with french fries, rice, beans salsas, fried chips and tortillas and always liked that the supermarket( in San Juan) is next door and load up on avocados and make guacamole!!! So now there's one closer to home!! McAllen, being that there was only two of us dining out (not the whole Brady Bunch) we decided to give this location a try!! Must say seems more upscale, they have a nice bar area to enjoy your drinks and watch a game, also the patio area seems some sort of romantic (needs candles and pianist? probably asking to much??) or real nice for a private party!! The food was bland . After reading the reviews for this place we decided to give them a shot. The location is nice and all the patio is good on a cool day. One thing we did like was the margaritas presentation was good . We order oriental rice which said it was spicy but was more bland than white rice, it came with out bean sprouts which it said it came with. We also ordered rollos la Costa they looked better than they tasted . Also another disappointment it was actually supposed to be spicier than the rice but they only tasted like warm cream cheese. In the description it said it came with octopus which we could not find . All in all the alcohol is good the food is bland I would recommend it to someone whose taste buds are dead or they can't smell. Go spend your money elsewhere, good luck. read more
