Been here several times so I've tried different things on the menu. When we first came years ago we had the crawfish and it was really good. The place is decorated fun, and there's plenty of tvs for sports. The salsa is really good too. More recently we tried other things and it is just not good at all. The coconut shrimp tastes like a frozen pre-breaded product. The fajitas have a rubbery texture (like Taco Cabana or HEB fajitas). Refried beans were tasteless. I hate this b/c it's a fun little place but just not for food. Please do better. read more

The food was amazing! The drinks cool and refreshing. Nice atmosphere. The service was great and the food was hot.

Food was good but two things we were disappointed in. 1) when we got there to pick our order up to go - one gumbo was ready and the other wasn't. Had to wait an additional 15 to 20 minutes for second gumbo. 2) when we ate the gumbo there was more HUGE CHUNKS of bell pepper and celery compared to the tiny bits of shrimp an chicken that was in the soup. This restaurant has become one of our favorites in the area. Food is quite good, a somewhat unusual mix of seafood and TexMex. We've enjoyed seafood soups, fish tacos, crawfish, and many other things on the menu. Chips are good, salsa is spicy. Margaritas are a little on the sweet side for me. Service is always friendly and food arrives quickly. It is not exactly upscale, but it a relaxed and comfortable dining environment. I ordered 5lbs of boiled crawfish potatoes and corn along with 1lb of shrimp with corn and potatoes. Chicken sandwich's for the kids and a seafood soup. The flavor of the crawfish and shrimp are good. We just got regular spicy. The shrimp was over cooked and not ez peel so it was impossible to peel without loosing more than half the shrimp. The crawfish were over cooked or maybe they had been boiled earlier and been sitting a while. The heads break off and the tails just pull apart most were mush from sitting so long. We've eaten here before but this is the first time trying anything boiled. Not trying to bash just an honest review maybe even an eye opener for the staff. read more

We love this family's breakfast place in Galveston and I have been dying to get to this place. I loved it from the moment we walked in with the friendly staff and cute decor. The margaritas are delicious and you have many choices too. The menu has sooo many choices that it is hard to decide. We started with white queso (not pictured cause I dug in and forgot) and everyone gets chips and salsa as soon as you sit down. We all ordered exactly what we wanted and the waitress was outstanding - Jacqueline if I remember correctly. They do crawfish here when in season too. They do shrimp and crab boils as well. They serve all the seafood and Mexican dishes you could ask for. They have Astros' game night specials too. Reasonably priced and super nice people. Go and try this place! read more

Very disappointing first experience at this restaurant. We ordered the calamari appetizer. The taste and texture was like rubber, not edible. Must have been from frozen. So we sent it back. My three companions ordered the red fish. They all said it was bland and overcooked. I order shrimp and oysters. The shrimp was okay but not spectacular. The oysters did not taste right. And they were the size of silver dollars but when the breading was removed only the size of a dime. What a gyp. On the upside, the French fries were very good and the service great. I am definitely going to give this five stars not because I think it's a Michelin rated restaurant, but rather it deserves recognition. From the time I walked in people were very nice. My Server was great. She took care of everything made recommendations. I started with the calamari and I have to say it was very good. Crispy hot fresh even the sauce was delicious. Next up was the fish tacos, which actually ordered shrimp tacos, but the fish tacos were great lol I would say overall, the experience was excellent. Everything on the menu you look good you get some chips and salsa with your meal so you're definitely full when you leave. Once again, fellow Yelpers didn't let us down. On our way to a five day, end of season cruise, myself, my wife and four friends overnighted in the small town of Alvin, TX. Arriving at just about supper time I opened up the Yelp app and started searching for highly rated restaurants in the area and came up with La Costa. And boy oh boy, did I hit a home run or what??? It was a busy Friday night but we were ushered right in to a table for six. We ordered our drinks right away and began perusing the menu. While we waited they served us some house made tortilla chips and salsa. Seafood is apparently their specialty, with a "Mexican" flair. Everyone, and I do mean EVERYONE in our group RAVED about how much they loved their meal. I had their seafood gumbo and a side salad ($3.99, no joke) which also came with some delicious garlic bread. That salad was fresh AND HUGE!!! The gumbo was a dark brown rue, almost a dark chocolate color and had such depth of flavor. It had plenty of fish and shrimp and was amazing for the price of $8.99. A friend ordered the Fried Fish Po Boy and was surprised that it had TWO pieces of fish. He was stuffed but was up to the task of consuming the entire sandwich. Others ordered Fried Shrimp another ordered a chicken quesadilla. Everyone commented about the quality, flavor and size of their entree. While we likely won't be back in the area again, I give my highest recommendation to this family owned restaurant. You will LOVE it as did we! read more

Hot, fresh food with friendly service. We visited at 4 on a Saturday. It wasn't too packed but definitely busy. We were seated right away. I had the ribeye and grilled shrimp. I asked for medium rare and it was a little overcooked but still delicious! The coleslaw was a tasty delight! So fresh with a hint of pineapple! Not too sweet or soggy like most.
