We went for crawfish. While it is very early in the season, we know that crawfish will be small, but we wanted that spice, zing, and that Cajun flavor! Was it there? Not exactly... there were two spice flavors to choose from, spicy and extra spicy. Our friends went with the extra spicy and said they were very salty. We went with the spicy, they were very far from any kind of spice. We also were not aware that on Wednesday night they have singo bingo, so getting a table is pretty much non existent. Luckily, I saw some friends so we joined their table. The restaurant also has a smoking section. It wasn't super smoky which was a pleasant surprise. She points to the food buffet area as the SMOKING section. Just for clarification, I asked again if what I heard was right. WHY and HOW is the SMOKING section NEXT to the open food area, and the non smoking clear across the other side of the restaurant? Made zero sense. Sounds unsanitary. So I left. But when it was boushays it was family oriented and the seafood and crawfish were amazing. They had face painting and balloons. Our experience was dismal. We waited the better part of an hour for half of our food. It took so long to get our food that we honestly almost left. Our food finally came out and 2 of the 4 meals were wrong. My husband was halfway through the burger before we saw him again. We weren't going to complain we just didn't want to pay for double meat since we didn't get it. You could tell she was stretched thin, constantly running between tables, but she still gave us excellent service. No complaints about her whatsoever. The issue was with our crawfish. We ordered about $100 worth and waited 20-30 minutes, only for it to arrive cold. We sent it back, and it came out barely warm the second time. When we raised the concern, the manager told us that crawfish "can't be steaming if it's seasoned" which simply isn't true. I've been to plenty of crawfish spots where it comes out hot and well-seasoned. It seemed clear that the food runners dropped the ball, since our server was doing everything she could. The manager didn't seem particularly concerned about the situation, though we do appreciate that the crawfish was taken off our bill. So we had dinner at the Rusty Hook and it was unfortunately a disappointment. We hard a buffet which was decent and ordered a 3 lb crawfish platter which took in excess of an hour to arrive. Now, was the place busy? Yes but did people order crawfish after us and then receive their order before us? Also yes. Then we we (politely) asked about it, we were told it was coming. Over and over we were told. People that sat down after us received multiple platters of mud bugs piled high. We were told the staff was short handed. That doesn't address the order you probably forgot to put in or get set aside on accident. The manager came out to bring us our food after an hour and nearly fifteen minutes and again mentioned that they were short handed. Except that more people had come and gone and we were still waiting until she got there late. Didn't offer to knock down the price, free dessert, anything. Service mistakes happen, in every restaurant. People make errors and forget to turn things in or someone grabs someone else's platter. It's what you do afterwards that makes a difference. Unfortunately in this case, nothing was done afterwards. Final ruling. While the food was good (not great the potatoes weren't cooked in the boil which was weird) there are better options for your dollar. read more

Discovered this place a few weeks ago and it's been on my mind. I had the crab legs in extra spicy seasoning and the first 2 times they were amazing! Took my mom and daughter recently and it was not great. They did have a great happy hour. My shrimp were rubbery. The crab was overdone and hard to shell. I didn't want to complain so we ate them but I will not be back for a while. At least not for the food. I was embarrassed since I brought guests with me. I know the staff changes but this was prob reboiled food. Maybe it's the busy weekends that are better. I usually go on Friday or Saturday. We have had good service at the bar and the table. One complaint though...bartender kept bringing beers when we didn't ask. I don't like conflict so by the time we all figured out we didn't order them we just drank them and paid. I'd prefer to be asked. But overall it's a cool place. I'll ask them to not overcook my seafood boil next time. Even the corn was rubbery. before saying what i have to say i would like to say i myself am a server and understand things happen however our experience was unexceptionable especially considering this is the second time it has happened with this server. The crawfish is amazing which is why we went in the first place. our other food was good they had the burger and fried shrimp and liked it. however the service we had was quite literally the worst service we have ever received. our server came to our table THREE times the whole time we were there and the third time was because we asked another server to bring her over. we were missing the sausage on one crawfish platter, my baby brothers rice, and needed some sauces. when we asked for it all it, by the time the server came back with the sauces we were half way done with our food. the sausage didn't come out till after we had finished all of our plates. we asked for a manger who honestly didn't seem to give a crap that there were any problems. i didn't get the serves name, asked her for a receipt so i could have it and she never brought he receipt. i was HIGHLY disappointed with our experience and we agreed as a group we will not be returning. read more

I visited one of my favorite waitresses (Faith) at the Rusty Hook in Baycliff. I had 3 pounds of boiled crawfish (spicy). They were kinda small but seasoned to perfection. I also had the catfish & Shrimp dinner with corn on the cob and green beans. I would give the whole meal a solid 8 out of 10. Only drawback is the parking is limited.
