So happy to see this bakery finally open. As a neighbor have eagerly watched for the opening. Was one of those in the long outside line on opening day; it was well worth the wait! Tried the Raisin buns, cinnamon rolls, Paris Brest, and apple tart. All were luscious. I'll be back to try the croissants and sandwiches next. read more

This business just opened to the public yesterday. The line was definitely long, but that's absolutely to be expected when you go to a new place. Especially during a pandemic where new experiences are hard to come by. The customer service was fantastic. The person who was at the drive through window was friendly and attentive, even though one can tell it's already been a looong weekend. Very knowledgeable on the menu, packed stuff up promptly and with care. We ended up getting a chicken bahn mi, the chocolate eclairs, and the tiramisu. I've eaten a ton of bahn mi and a even weirder amount of baguette in my day. This was definitely one of the best I've had. The baguette was wonderful - super light and fluffy in the middle with a crispy crust that didn't break your teeth. Toppings were we'll portioned and very fresh tasting. The eclairs were filled to the brim with a really great chocolate pasty cream and the pastry wasn't at all soggy. The tiramisu was a little smaller than we'd expected but it was really, really good. Nice and creamy with a balance between all the stuff that makes a tiramisu. Definitely will be going back. This is a dangerous establishment to have this close to my house. At the advice of a Tunisian friend I tried their merguez bahn mi, kind of a weird mashup between North African and Southeast Asian cuisine featuring lamb sausage with harissa, cucumber, cilantro, and daikon/carrot pickle. I can't say I really loved it but it was really interesting and the baguette it was on was fantastic. They were giving freebies of a new recipe they were trying out, an Earl Gray pound cake. I found it a little dry with not that much bergamot flavor, but that didn't affect my rating cuz, ya know, it was free. But I did buy two beautiful pistachio macarons and honestly, they looked better than they tasted. I wanted more pistachio flavor in the filling. I would come back to buy another baguette and try their more typically SE Asian pork or chicken bahn mi, particularly because the bread was just so outstanding. Would also like to sample a croissant or a Paris Brest--those looked really tempting but there's only so much one can eat in a sitting. The banh mi isn't great... in my opinion the French bread is too dense. The only thing that makes this place special are their almond croissants! They are delicious and well worth it. Otherwise stay away from their apple fritter it's pretty much applesauce in a puff pastry. I wasn't very overwhelmed by their other desserts either. But to each their own! I've been there three times now for pastries and it's been a disappointment each time. The first time, the crossaints were too tough/overcooked/semi burnt. I figured we just got them too late bc it was 2:30. Banh mi was ok. Pate was great. Creme brûlée wasn't crisp on top but very well flavored. Due to the large Hmong population here, the Twin Cities might be ground zero for quality Banh Mi sandwiches in the country. This place is at the top of the list. First of all the baguette is outstanding - a notch or two more refined than other banh mi shops. Second, a couple of the sandwiches elevate the banh mi game, notably the Merguez sandwich with its gamey lamb sausage and the right mix of harissa and other condiments, and also the Saucisson sandwich, which is an explosion of tantalizing cornichon pickles punctuated with artisanal salami. Also tried several of the bakery items which were all very good. More than anything, this shop exudes care, craftsmanship, and community - all ingredients that make for superb food. read more

I have been twice and I find the items we tried wonderful. The cream puff has a firm cream that makes it easier to eat. The taste of the hazelnut cream puff was as the name says delicious. Met a friend at La Delicious Bread 4/11/2023. We usually meet up monthly. The last couple times were at Taste of Scandinavia, a bakery/café about a mile north (Rice/Little Canada Road) of La Delicious. One time after Taste, she stopped off at La Delicious (she'd been there before) to pick up some bakery items for her family. She said the bakery there was excellent. I had googled it afterward and, although it had mostly positive reviews, some of the negative ones made me wonder if I wanted to try the place. Yet, when she recently suggested La Delicious I agreed. We were meeting at 11:00 a.m. so I decided to check out the menu ahead of time to see if there were any sandwiches, etc. offered. According to the website, there are six sandwiches offered--5 bahn mi (only one without meat--I'm a vegetarian) and another one with salami. Salads are equally limited--two Mediterranean (one with meat, the other without) and a fruit salad. The restaurant has very limited seating--only five tables and, if I recall, four had two chairs each and the fifth had four chairs. Since the sandwich and salad options didn't appeal to me, I chose a small coffee ($2.50 which I thought was rather pricey for the size) and a chocolate almond "croissant." My friend ordered the same plus a strawberry croissant and some other chocolate thing to go. Might be picky in saying this but the chocolate almond "croissant" was NOT a croissant. If one googles the word, one of the first hits shows what a croissant looks like--it's somewhat domed in the middle and pointed at both ends. The butter and strawberry croissants at La Delicious looked like croissants but some of the other "croissants" definitely did not. The chocolate almond resembled a somewhat flattened scone. As I was eating it, I wondered where the chocolate was. When I was about halfway done, I finally found it--I bit into a stick of chocolate. I suspect that when the "croissant" was made, a stick or two of chocolate was put inside with the thought that during the baking the chocolate would melt and spread. That didn't happen. Panera has much better chocolate croissants (no almonds on it, though)--looks like a croissant, has chocolate drizzled on the top and the inside has a nice layer of melted chocolate. Furthermore, like a true croissant, the Panera one is very flaky. The one I had at La Delicious wasn't. My friend asked me how I liked my "croissant." Since she had suggested the place and had ordered the same thing, I was put on the spot. I lied and said it was good. She remarked that she thought it was good, too. Prices aren't listed on the website. I think my "croissant" was about $4. I would have ordered the strawberry croissant but that was $6 or $6.25. I'll pay that much for a good loaf of bread but not for one pastry. I'll continue heading up the road to Taste of Scandinavia which has a decent variety of bakery items (not quite as many as La Delicious) and also an extensive breakfast and lunch menu. read more

Bakery Food is good. My problem is the hidden fees. They charge state tax on non togo bakery items that should not be taxed. They also charge a credit card fee, and it is not obvious. Charging the tax and keeping it is deceptive. Same with the credit card tax. read more

I had that feeling today as my girlfriend and I experienced La Delicious Bread for the first time and got to know the owner, Tieng. La Delicious Bread is a French bakery that also serves Asian flavors via the Vietnamese Banh Mi. In that sense, it reminds of me Korean-French bakeries, Tous Les Jour and Paris baguette. Where La Delicious Bread really shines is in its selection of French pastries made by Tieng's son Brandon, a French trained pastry chef who perfected his craft with years of training at Ecole de Boulangerie et de Patisserie in Paris. Tieng explained that he grew up to love French bread while growing up in Paris, and that he imports all his ingredients to Minnesota to create an Authentic French experience. My girlfriend and I loved the almond croissant and were surprised by the perfect Hazelnut and almond flavors of the Paris Brest, which we tried with Tieng's recommendation. We love how the flavors don't overpower with sweetness. And we appreciate the friendliness and helpfulness of Tieng's family who own and run this restaurant/bakery. We left La Delicious Bread with 3 more desserts that we're looking forward to trying this evening: the Apple Tart, Black Forest Cake, and Strawberry Croissant. Tieng told us that he has plans to expand with French crepes and bubble tea so we look to coming back to see what he next has to offer. read more

The pastries that I ordered were very good. My two star review was based off of the employee that took my order. First off, I live very close. I've heard of this place many times online and from people that I know. The drive through option sounded great to me since I have a very young child. I decided to call one day to verify that they have a drive through before I came while my kid was asleep in the car. I was told "NO" over the phone that they did not have one. So I didn't go. The next day, I was driving by and saw cars in the drive through. So I get in line. They DO have a drive through it turns out.....the employee ( young lady) who took my order was super unfriendly and seemed like she'd rather be anywhere but there. No hello, no eye contact, no thank you. Because of these employee interactions and blatant lies from them I won't be back. If it was based just off of the food I would be. So disappointed read more

We had this place recommended to us by a friend and have been twice now with both being very good experiences! The first time we went for lunch and got two house bahn mi sandwiches, a chicken, and a lamb. They were excellent and enormous - great value for the price, on an entire mini baguette (they remove a little of the bread to make room for filling). The late and pork was very good, with a nice light dressing and crunchy fresh vegetables and cilantro. I was still full at dinner after enjoying one for lunch. I also got a few fruit tarts, which were very tasty. The fruit was fresh, the cream filling was nice, and the pastry shell has a nice vanilla flavor to it. They were tasty even after several hours in the fridge. We went back today on our way up north and got a chocolate croissant that was delicious and not overly baked (unlike some reviewers had mentioned), with a really good latte. There was no line at 10AM on a Friday. We also got more bahn mi sandwiches for lunch on the go and they were just as good as the first time. We did the drive through both times and the service was fast and friendly. The only thing I would change would be to have a large menu listed at the drive thru so you don't have to look it up on your phone or know what you want if you order that way. This bakery is so good! I love their sandwiches - especially the House Bánh Mi. Bánh Mi is a Vietnamese sandwich using a French baguette and filled with yummy goodness - pork (chicken or turkey as well), carrot strips, cucumber, cilantro etc. Sandwiches are made fresh while you wait - and they're pretty fast so you don't have to wait very long. The bread is fresh and fantastic. I can't speak much about their pastries right now but they look superb. The only drawback is that they're in Maplewood and I live in a northern suburb but IMO, their sandwiches are worth the drive. I haven't had Bánh Mi THIS GOOD since the 90's. I think that the price for this place is very pricey. A small chocolate croissant is $3.49 and I think it was over bake. Crumbs was everywhere when I rip into it. The fresh bread for the bang mi sandwich are worth the price. The sandwich is great overall. read more
