Music was perfect, smells perfect, then you pass by the area for personal selections and BAM restaurant! There are two entrances one for each I learned later but still BAM! We were seated super fast, and the menu was great. Have all of the best stuff, sopes, menudo, posole, breakfast, jugos... We went with the Huevos Rancheros, and the menudo. This place is hidden and looks very run down. When you walk in get in line to ready to order, the menu is up above on the person taking your order. You could get someone that does not speak English, but just order as you would and ask for the receipt. You can hang around and watch them make your order to make sure you got what you ordered. I got 2 carne asada tacos and 2 chicken tacos with cheese, plus rice and beans. They have a salsa bar with all the fixes (greens, limes, etc.). They have a whole back area they tell you to go eat at and the only thing separating the food sitting area is a black cloth clipped by zip ties. A good friend highly recommended La Fiesta, so I gave them a try. I called two of the three locations and both times was met with loud kitchen noise and Spanish speaking receptionists who couldn't understand me. By itself that is not a bad thing. I drove to the Avondale location and went in and ordered the meal. All was clearly understood. I think I was the only non-Spanish speaking person there. Again, not a bad thing. It is definitely more a kitchen than a restaurant. I liked the layout. Unwrapping the food at home, we learned that a asada taco means soft shells and bits of beef, nothing else. We added greens and such to that. The mild salsa was anything but mild. Fine for me, but a no-go for the spouse. Their salsa was more brown than red. The chips were a little greasy, but not overly so. The bean and cheese burrito had refried beans, but little or no cheese. Pretty one-dimensional. The best item was the asada (beef) Burro. That will be the first item I order if I return. The spouse, however, much prefers Zamora Cafe, which is not too far from this place. La Fiesta might be more "authentic", but taste buds and preferences usually win out. The meal did not settle well with my system overnight. My friend is still my good friend, and we'll talk later about why he loves this place. But for us, adios. read more

If you have been to a Mexican tortilleria before you'll love this place. The place is indeed crowded and not presentable but they have good food and service.
