We were up in Albany visiting family and while we were touring around, we stopped in to La Fiesta as it was highly recommended by some friends The waitstaff is friendly and checked in often. The atmosphere is typical Mexican decor and clean. I loved my chimichanga birria. The chimis were smaller than I expected but they were chock full of yummy beef and dipping them in the broth is so good. I loved everything about my meal but wished it had come with refried beans because that's a favorite of mine. My dinner companions were not as lucky as me with their meals. The burritos come smothered in sauce and toppings which made them soggy. A big turnoff for my guest. Hubby was okay with his. We're spoiled where we live with amazing Mexican food so it is hard to compete. I tried his refried beans and I thought they were good. The water has a funny taste...you can taste it even with the soda syrups. I ordered a horchata which was really good. I forget how sweet they are so it was more like dessert. The service was good, waiter very helpful in answering our questions. The food was not bad. But, not particularly good either. The portions were VERY small. The menu said the quesadillas were made with 10" tortillas. They were actually 8". The side of sour cream and guacamole was barely a spoonful of each served on shredded lettuce. The tostada was very small as well topped with just a bit of melted cheese and shredded lettuce & chopped tomatoes. The rice & beans served on the side was also minuscule. While again, the food wasn't bad, we went home less than satisfied. I would not return. There are other Mexican restaurants in the area that are far better. read more

I've always wanted to try this place. Glad I did! I went for lunch on a Saturday. Not crowded at all. We were sat at a booth right away and given chips and salsa. I ordered the chicken tortilla soup and a chicken taco salad. The tortilla soup had so much in it that it probably would've been enough. Interesting place. The staff are really nice though. When you walk in, the first red flag is there are fold out chairs at random tables. Second red flag is ketchup as an option at the table. Third red flag is the salsa tastes like they put oregano inside it to season it. The guac has no taste, had to add salt and lime. My mixed chicken and beef fajitas had more peppers than actual meat. My margarita was pretty good though. The queso cheese thickened up quickly and was like a mini cheese brick. Food was kinda bland and not great to me. There was just no flavor. The ranchero sauce was terrible. The tortillas were very soggy in my dish even though the sauce was packed separately. My meal did come with chips but they needed a sprinkle of salt. To top it off I don't like that they charge for hot sauce and there's a ton of dishes that come with rice only and no beans? I make it a habit to ask for hot sauce at any Mexican restaurant and they wouldn't give me any without charging $1. They told me my food comes with a salsa and so I didn't need hot sauce? Review is for enchilada verde. I am disappointed since this is my favorite mexican dish and been craving for it. Not really good since the green sauce is kinda sour and kinda taste soapy. It's good they only put slight sauce on top since most mexican restaurants put more on top. The side salad is ok but too much sour cream on top. The mexican rice is yummy though. Just like mexican restaurants , dining in they serve you with warm and crispy tortilla chips which are good with the sauce. The service is great, the server is nice and attentive. I happened upon La Fiesta Mexican Restaurant on a weekend when I was indecisive about where to stop for dinner. It was late, and I procrastinated as I was out shopping and lost track of time. I walked in starving and was told it would be a half hour wait as the place was packed. My bad, so I patiently waited til my name was called. Meanwhile I passed the time by watching others at the bar as well as checking out the many large parties gathered in the main dining area. Finally when I was seated, I was super excited to order a drink and nosh on some chips and salsa! The overall ambiance was loud and boisterous as there were many birthday celebrations taking place all around me. It was rather nice as the staff sang to each birthday guest. The downside to the loud room was that you could not carry on a conversation whatsoever. You also had to pay close attention to your server as I could not hear very well over the noise level. On the upside my server Andrea that night was excellent. She was attentive and friendly and took our individual orders without ever writing it down. We had table side guacamole made which was fun. The presentation was nice but it was on the bland side as I had to season it myself at the table. I ordered a chicken taco salad, mini beef chimichangas with cheese dip and enchiladas with salsa verde. All looked decent but again the running theme for the nite was that each dish was very bland and it lacked flavor. Also, it did not taste very fresh to me and it was all kind of dry. Not sure if it was because it was late in the evening (closer to 8pm) and maybe it's better right at the dinner hour. It took awhile to get our entrees so luckily we had our chips and salsa and hot cheese and guacamole. The hot cheese dip was the right consistency but it tasted more like bland milk and less like Mexican cheese. Also not very cheesy or flavorful. Sadly this was a miss for me. The flavor was not evident at all with the soup, as It tasted like it was extended by water. Again, this leaves a soup flavorless and watery. Don't sleep on La Fiesta - the location is not great, but the food is FAST, cheap, and delicious. The servers I've encountered each time are ON IT, but not smothering. They have capacity to seat lots of folks, but I've only ever been for lunch (back pages are lunch specials! Hello!!) and it's never been crowded. Really, I'm here for the salsas and sauces. As a Hispanic, this place checks all the Mexican restaurant boxes that non-Hispanics love. The guacamole made at your table is pretty cool. The chimichangas were good. But as far a real Mexican restaurant, I felt it was pretty Americanized. Which in itself isn't bad. But since I know a good tamale, I can tell you that their tamales were dry and reheated too many times in the micro. The salsa was nothing that a jar of salsa at price chopper could have gotten you. The burrito I got was good and I ate it all. My guest got the enchiladas which he enjoyed. And my other guest enjoyed his tacos. It wasn't bad. It just didn't impress me. My tip to this establishment is step up your salsa. It's the first thing that your customers will eat and sets the tone. It shouldn't look like ragu or taste like tomato sauce. Add some minced onion or cilantro to it. Give it some chunk and flavor. The dark (red chili??) sauce on the tamale was flavorless and bland but offered the tamales the only moisture they had. read more

She had a Chicken Chimichanga and a Burrito with ground beef. Both combos came with rice and beans. The rice was lightly seasoned and the beans were soupy. Both were bland. Went out after work to celebrate a coworkers birthday. We had called ahead to reserve our tables since we were a big group. Upon arrival we were warmly greeted by a young woman who led us to our tables. The tables were set and water, nachos and salsas were on the table waiting our arrival. Our server came over immediately and took our drink orders. As we munched in the nachos and salsa they prepared our drinks. The service was quick and the staff super friendly and attentive! Our food came out quickly and was hot and delicious. The aroma and flavors were intoxicating. The decor was fun to look at, mariachi music playing ever so lightly. Servers came and sang happy birthday to the birthday girl and bright out a fried ice cream wit a lit candle, it's the details that makes this place so unique. Quite a busy place on a weekday afternoon. We came here as a group and ordered a variety of dishes, but I only really remember mine. The service was good, and I felt like the staff was pretty attentive. They came up and checked on us a couple of times to make sure we were all enjoying our meals. Starter chips and salsa: loved how they had someone wheel over a fresh guacamole cart. I'm not a fan of guacamole myself, but I thought it was really neat. Chips were fresh and crisp. Salsa was plentiful and yummy. La fiesta burrito: I asked for steak stuffed burrito. It was not bad, and I thought it was interesting that they paired it with rice on the side and drizzled it with creamy sauce. It was a well balanced dish, but I was hoping for more flavor and more spice. They were generous with the serving, though, and I felt like I had definitely way too much to eat. Buyer beware. It's my belief I was scammed by this restaurant. The advertised 12, 16, and 22 oz margaritas I ordered a 16 ounce house margarita on the rocks with salt. When the margarita came it didn't look like 16 ounces. I asked the waitress if this was a 16 ounce margarita and she was adamant that it was. After I finished my margarita I dumped the ice out and I grabbed an empty 12.5 oz soda bottle from a fellow Diner and went to the men's room and filled it with water. I poured the water into the now empty margarita glass and I was unable to pour the entire 12.5 ounces into the glass. The glass was 12 ounces or less. I asked to speak to the manager and he agreed that he would only charge me for a 12 ounce margarita I wonder how many other people they rip off every single day and how many ounces they really serve in their 12 ounce and 22 ounce glasses. I expect them to respond by saying it was a mistake and they serve it in the wrong glass but based on their reaction, I believe they knew exactly what they were doing and we're embarrassed that they got caught. They totally lost my trust so I paid with cash instead of a credit card. read more

This is our second time visiting and things at LaFiesta seem to be pretty average. 3 stars feels like a very fair rating - as nothing really stands out here. The interior is comfortable although could definitely use some tlc. Nothing to really complain about other than some worn and damaged red booth seating. The food is similar to the interior; pretty plain. Nothing particularly stands out here. Not good, not bad. No homemade chips or salsa - definitely from a store. I could really make all the same food at home. That being said however, I don't have any complaints about the food either. A very middle of the road experience truly. If you're looking for quick, decent, and fairly priced mexican food then this is the stop for you. If you're looking for an exceptional dining experience, I'd continue your search.
