Always our go to place for Mexican cuisine. I'd say it's our favorite! Wife loves their Texas B tacos and I can always depend on this place for a good meal. Great service, lively ambiance, and quality food.

Stopped in on my way to Boston at Albany this place I had visited earlier for lunch earlier and hence food was good variety of vegetarian items being served for guys like us who don't eat meat. Margaritas are really great and serving was plenty with waitress being so much attentive asking anything else. Usual fiesta feeling atmosphere with nice carved well painted attractive headboards with various designs at different booths. Really good place to eat Mexican meal in Albany .

Food Purchased: - Shrimp Tacos -Birria Quesadilla ---------------------------------------- The takeout from this place was pretty good. I definitely would recommend it as a place to grab food from. Tacos aren't my preferred choice, but the shrimp tacos from here were lovely, and I wouldn't mind coming back for seconds from here.

I've always wanted to try this place. Glad I did! I went for lunch on a Saturday. Not crowded at all. We were sat at a booth right away and given chips and salsa. I ordered the chicken tortilla soup and a chicken taco salad. The tortilla soup had so much in it that it probably would've been enough. Filled with shredded chicken and avocado and veggies and chips. It was so good! I added a touch of hot sauce. Perfect! We got a side of guacamole which came in its own little tortilla hard shell. Everything was fantastic. Good service too.

Interesting place. The staff are really nice though. When you walk in, the first red flag is there are fold out chairs at random tables. Second red flag is ketchup as an option at the table. Third red flag is the salsa tastes like they put oregano inside it to season it. The guac has no taste, had to add salt and lime. My mixed chicken and beef fajitas had more peppers than actual meat. My margarita was pretty good though. The queso cheese thickened up quickly and was like a mini cheese brick. Tried to ignore the flags based on a recommendation from a friend. lol never again (: Food was not even presentable enough to take pics.

Review is for enchilada verde. I am disappointed since this is my favorite mexican dish and been craving for it. Not really good since the green sauce is kinda sour and kinda taste soapy. It's good they only put slight sauce on top since most mexican restaurants put more on top. The side salad is ok but too much sour cream on top. The mexican rice is yummy though. Just like mexican restaurants , dining in they serve you with warm and crispy tortilla chips which are good with the sauce. The service is great, the server is nice and attentive. The place is comfortable and nice. Lots of parking since it's in the vicinity of the Days Inn hotel.

I happened upon La Fiesta Mexican Restaurant on a weekend when I was indecisive about where to stop for dinner. It was late, and I procrastinated as I was out shopping and lost track of time. I walked in starving and was told it would be a half hour wait as the place was packed. My bad, so I patiently waited til my name was called. Meanwhile I passed the time by watching others at the bar as well as checking out the many large parties gathered in the main dining area. Finally when I was seated, I was super excited to order a drink and nosh on some chips and salsa! The overall ambiance was loud and boisterous as there were many birthday celebrations taking place all around me. It was rather nice as the staff sang to each birthday guest. The downside to the loud room was that you could not carry on a conversation whatsoever. You also had to pay close attention to your server as I could not hear very well over the noise level. On the upside my server Andrea that night was excellent. She was attentive and friendly and took our individual orders without ever writing it down. We had table side guacamole made which was fun. The presentation was nice but it was on the bland side as I had to season it myself at the table. I ordered a chicken taco salad, mini beef chimichangas with cheese dip and enchiladas with salsa verde. All looked decent but again the running theme for the nite was that each dish was very bland and it lacked flavor. Also, it did not taste very fresh to me and it was all kind of dry. Not sure if it was because it was late in the evening (closer to 8pm) and maybe it's better right at the dinner hour. It took awhile to get our entrees so luckily we had our chips and salsa and hot cheese and guacamole. The hot cheese dip was the right consistency but it tasted more like bland milk and less like Mexican cheese. Also not very cheesy or flavorful. Sadly this was a miss for me. I wanted it to be good but unfortunate that it wasn't. Again, my server was super and as busy as she was she certainly kept her cool!

    Birria quesadilla

Wonderful service, atmosphere, and food. The warm chips and salsa(with a secret ingredient we couldn't figure out) were a great way to start the meal. Next came the best frozen margarita I've ever had! I had the birria quesadilla. It was so loaded and the meat so tender. The guacamole was so creamy and flavorful. Definitely recommend!

My expectations weren't too high because I didn't know if Albany had a thriving Mexican community. Viva Cinco de Mayo blew me away! We sat in a comfortable outdoor dining section. Upon arrival you'll receive complimentary chips and salsa. It was fresh as the chips were warm and I could taste the fresh ingredients in the salsa. We ordered the carne asada and the Baja tacos (and the enchiladas verdes to go based on hot good the food was). The carne asada was fantastic, and it came with rice, beans, and tortillas. The Baja tacos were delicious and came with a super spicy sauce (they did have a lot of onions which was my only drawback). We ended the night with a special strawberry tres leches for Valentine's Day. It's not something I would have typically ordered but I do love tres leches and this did not disappoint - it was amazing. All in all excellent food you'll be glad you came for the food! A few other notes- the inside of the restaurant is pretty and draws on what I've seen in other Mexican restaurants. Staff were so friendly and had the perfect balance of checking in with us to letting us eat our meal. There is a small bar area that is separate from the dining area. Street parking only but there seemed to be plenty of spots. However, I would try to park as close as possible to the restaurant as the neighborhood itself didn't seem like the greatest. We had no issues during our experience but just something to consider. Overall I really liked this place and will definitely return!

Ordinary Surroundings, Extraordinary Food. I live in Texas,…read moreso I approach Mexican food north of the Mason-Dixon line with some trepidation, but while visiting my former hometown our visit to El Rancho was delightful. The simple laminated menu gave me pause, but one look revealed a thoughtful and extensive menu of traditional favorites, grilled items, seafood, stews and soups. There's a little bit of everything and even a large diverse group of diners is sure to find a favorite. There's a robust (and moderately priced) cocktail menu and the entire menu presents a fair value, especially since the portions were large and called for some take-home containers. My Camarones al Diablo were spicy and hot, and a taste of the Tacos Camarones was also delicious. Everyone enjoyed their respective selections and drinks. Two minor quibbles: it is bright enough inside to do surgery. A dimmer or fewer lights on would improve the ambiance. And, like so many places these days, it can get quite loud, with all the reflective surfaces echoing. The lights are an easy improvement, the sound-dampening a bit more challenging. Regardless, a visit to El Rancho will not disappoint.

I stopped by during happy hour and ordered the guacamole, the nachos, and a soft drink. Now look, I know. I KNOW! Who goes to happy hour at a brand-new restaurant and doesn't order one of the cocktails when they looked exceptionally good? Me, apparently. We received our meals and started eating. After the first couple of bites we ended up finding a pretty large piece of plastic inside of one of our salads. Our waitress never came back to check on us after we received our food so we ended up asking a different waitress for help. She went and grabbed the manager who came over and apologized and said he would get a new salad. After finding a piece of plastic inside your mouth after taking one of your first bites it spoils your appetite pretty quickly so we said no thank you and continued eating our meals. We then found out that we were missing multiple different items from our meals and again had to wait for someone to serve us. There wasn't many people there and we had a large party of 10 so we're hoping for our server to be more attentive. After all the issues all 10 of us lost our appetite and were hoping to receive the check and leave. It seemed that after we had an issue our server was upset with us for pointing out the issues, and did not want to serve us anymore so we ended up having to wait quite a while to even receive our check. I think the worst part for us was when we told the manager and server about the plastic inside our food they did not remove the plastic or the plate from our table and left it on the table for us to look at for the rest of our meals. With the price being expensive for most items, and the place being advertised as upscale dining it was very disappointing and not worth the time or money. I would not recommend coming here for meals. I would recommend going to the many other better restaurants in this area.
