Boyfriend and I tried this place recently. It wasn't worth the try. We walked in and waited for at least 2 min before someone even acknowledged us. The bar staff and the waiters all saw us standing there, but still ignored us. We got seated at a very small table next to the wall, even though there were plenty of other tables available. It was too small for even 2 people, the entire night we had to keep shifting things around to make space. The first waiter that helped us didn't have any knowledge about the food or the wine. I was served the wrong wine, yet he insisted was the one I had ordered. When we received the bill, I was charged for a wine I did not order, so he did serve me the wrong wine. The food was overpriced and basic, even a little bland. The complementary focaccia bread that we were served tasted better than our entire meal. Won't be going back. read more

La Finestra is a family favorite. Tony is always so welcoming and gives such great service. Everything on the menu is delicious. We love the polenta as an appetizer. I also really like the mushroom soup especially on a chilly evening. My go to for entrees is the spicy penne pasta or sometimes their special if it sounds yummy. Lasagna is also a winner. The ambience in the place is cozy and a lot of times they have someone playing piano. I'm so glad they opened in Moraga after the fire and happy to have this as an option yet again read more

Honestly, this is such a great little secret with a lot of heart - the food is great - varied Italian menu that is well priced. Full bar and enthusiastic staff that seem to enjoy what they are doing. Weekends include live piano player - for the evening you forget that you are in the midst of a shopping center. Well priced - full bar with nice touches such as warm focaccia with oil and balsamic and GARLIC! Made reservation on Saturday, there was a piano player in front of restaurant So we sit close to the piano player and what a lovely music he played. not too loud, was perfect. The service, the atmosphere, was great. The appetizers and the food were fantastic. Fresh and the sauce didn't smell or taste buttery. great selections of wine. Looking for a nice restaurant to celebrate my birthday. Had been to La Finestra many times at their Lafayette location, before it burned down. Due to the pandemic and the required isolation it brought with it, I only recently heard they had reopened in Moraga. I was thrilled to return tonight, and everything was fantastic! The food was outstanding, the service from the wait staff, exceptional. I had the Cappellini Con il Pollo and my friend had the Puttanesca. We shared a Insalad Mistra. Wow! So wonderful! It's a beautiful restaurant, and the prices are certainly reasonable. And the staff remembered us, as patrons from the old Lafayette site! Very friendly, capable staff at La Finestra. I had dinner at La Finestra for the first time this evening, and I will be back! The bread is fresh, warm, and absolutely delicious. I started with a Cesar salad and it was very good. My boyfriend got the meatball appetizer and I stole a few bites (maybe a few more) because it was just that good. For my entree I got the ravioli with spinach and prawns. It was absolutely DIVINE. I also had a Shirley temple and it was perfect. Not too watery but not overwhelmingly sweet. The staff is very friendly, attentive, and quick. As a customer from their old Lafayette location which burned down a couple of years ago I am very happy they are back, and even happier that dinner there was perhaps even better than I remember from the other place. We are happy that La Finestra was able to move to Moraga after their devastating fire in Lafayette. The owners have done a lovely renovation of the former Terzetto space creating a warm, inviting, and elegant dining area. A pianist seated in the front of the restaurant offers a nice ambiance. Seating in the back room is quieter which seating near the door is cold. The chicken fish, and veal dishes were large but without much flavor. The scallone tasted more like calamari than a mixture of abalone and scallops. The beet salad was comprised of both red and yellow beets but the dressing lacked "ump". We all raved about the polenta with mushrooms. Delicious. The restaurant was packed with locals welcoming this new place to the neighborhood. Reservations recommended. Simply put, La Finestra is a gem. Right from the start, I could tell that I would have a good experience. The restaurant is in a convenient location and there was ample parking. There is nothing worse than driving around a parking lot looking for parking when you are hungry. Upon entering the restaurant I was shocked at how beautifully decorated it was. I really felt like I could be sitting somewhere in Italy. I went during the lunch hour and ordered the Lasagna. It was hearty and the taste was out of this world. Beyond the wonderful food, the staff was spectacular. The waitress, Peggy, was pleasant, friendly and attentive. But not that kind of attentive waitress that ask you how your food is as you are chewing... After my meal, the owner introduced himself and asked how my meal and service was. I advised him that I loved everything about it. He thanked me for coming into his restaurant. What was so heartwarming about the interaction was that I felt that he truly cared about my response. I am so happy this place is open again! This is my favorite spot in town! My husband and I love Italian food and this is the place for us. I had the gnocchi with brown butter sage sauce and it was perfect! My husband had the chicken and he couldn't believe how good it was. We are coming back for more! We also ordered a delicious gelato and then they gave us some desert wine and biscotti to end the evening!! Fantastic! It was the first time we tried an Italian Restaurant in Moraga. We had a very warm welcome with the chef and also the owner of the restaurant who was Jeff Assadi. Special thanks to him. We had a very nice table which was near the piano. It was Wednesday so we could not enjoy the live piano. ( we informed that every Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings they have someone who plays the piano. We have to try one of those days ) They started with nice warm bread and dipping sauce. It was really delicious. We were not very hungry but after we saw the menu and some recommendation by the our great server Tony, we decided to start with Gamberoni all'Uva Passa which is jumbo prawns with a mild spicy white wine sauce over garlic crostini. That was delicious. And then I ordered Cappellini Con il Pollo pasta and my wife ordered Pollo Parmigiana. Both were incredibly amazing. And our daughter had penne pasta with chicken ( she also ate all ) their portions are pretty big and the price both worth it. Anyways, I am writing this review to celebrate two new items they have on their lunch menu: the chicken sandwich and the Italian meatball sandwich. I called around 11:30 to order the chicken sandwich for lunch, and asked that it will be ready at noon. At exactly 12:00 - no joke, 12:00 sharp - the box with the sandwich came out of the kitchen. The sandwich itself is just perfect. Tender chicken, super flavorful, in fresh bread with a crisp crust. Really great sandwich. Comes with a side salad that was also great.
