It's been such a great place but it's getting disregarded from the members. Weights all over the place, wipes left all over, people can't put in the right spot or even put away. The staff need to step up and crack down on keeping the people respect the place. Inspection of equipment and fixed in a timely manor would be nice. Staff certainly are pleasant when you walk in. Don't waste your time or money on this club. This club along with many of the other locations is going down faster than a Twinkie at a Jenny Craig meeting. I was a member here for less than 6 months. In that time frame, there were TWO incidents of gun violence as a result of fights on the basketball court. What did management do? Shut the court down for ONE week before being told by higher ups they had to re-open it! Can you say "Potential Lawsuit"? The equipment is old with rust on ALL of the cables as well as the plates. They only have TWO leg extensions and TWO leg curl machines and they're ALWAYS taken no matter what time you go. The free weight area LITERALLY smells like a urinal that hasn't been flushed in days. The studio floor is constantly filthy with sweat and hair and they can't seem to make up their mind about turning the AC on or off in the room. Groups of high school kids literally stand around talking and blocking walking areas or sit on equipment while talking/texting on their phones or they think it's fun to horseplay next to people who are lifting. This used to be a nice facility. However it's become clear that the corporate office doesn't give a shit about taking care of it, which should explain to the why they're losing members to other clubs like Crunch and EOS. Unless you don't care about actually working out, or you want to become a potential victim of gun violence due to some low IQ individuals that frequent the basketball court, do yourself a favor and stay far away from this place. read more

I'm so disappointed that the basketball courts are only opened from 9am- 6pm M-F. They also shutdown the courts on the weekend. Only a certain "demographic" gets treated this way ( we all know who and why). Apparently this was corporates decision to enforce this, but I pay a monthly fee to use that amenity. I bet you the racquetball courts wont get shutdown! This is ridiculous. I'll take my money to a gym who appreciates their members. read more

So far, so good. We have been going now for a little under 3 months and I can honestly say. It's pretty legit. After my gym experience with the OTHER gym (I will not mention, but check those reviews out later) it's kind of hard to give a full 5 stars because these places go LEFT real quick. I noticed coming in on this past Saturday morning (one of the first ppl in the gym) that the gym was NOT cleaned the night before. There was trash in parts of the gym that I can tell was left on the previous night. The sauna was also very rank that morning I couldn't go in and trash was left in there as well. I hope they will do better as far as cleaning up the place daily/nightly... We pay way too much to have to deal with trash all over the place on ANY DAY. Besides that, LA Fit is ok with me... So Far, so good... give me 6 months and I'll re-visit this review... read more

LA Fitness - Parking a lot - Gyms Near Me - Houston, Texas

Overall I have been impressed with the facility as well as the patrons, This is now COVID time so everything is hyper sensitive. The doors are designated entry and exit, there is constant cleaning by the employees, you are given sanitizer when you walk in and expected to clean the equipment before and after use. The capacity is good and people are being very mindful of themselves. However, the showers are supposed to be closed, but I have gone into the men's area several times and people are using the showers and the lockers. Not many just looks like a handful of folks. Starting last week they started taking your temperature when you walk in. Now this week all business are requiring a mask so I will see Monday if I need to revise this review because I don't believe everyone should have to wear a mask while exercising. It is difficult to breath. Again overall they are doing a great job. read more

I was shocked and scared when I saw that my car window was broken today (11/10/2023). I had just finished a Zumba class at this gym and had arrived at the parking lot around 6:45pm. . I immediately reported the incident to the gym office. The staff member I spoke to said that they had received few reports of car windows being broken in the parking lot in recent months. They said that they would file a police report, but that there was not much else they could do. I am very concerned about the safety of this parking lot. I would not recommend going there, especially at night. It is possible that you could be targeted by thieves or vandals. If you are looking for a safe place to exercise, I would recommend going to a different gym or fitness center. There are many other options available in the area. I hope this helps! read more

My vehicle was broken in on May 16, 2023, front desk was zero help and couldn't be bother. A member told the front desk someone was breaking into the vehicle and they apologized and said they couldnt make any announcements or do anything. 2 weeks later, my vehicle and 4 others were broken into at 5:30pm. This gym has made no effort to increase security (hire security, police or cameras). each break-in has cost me roughly $1500, due to the damages. read more

Dangerous environment for racquetball. They don't seem to turn on the AC in the courts unless you beg them. This causes condensation to build on the courts making it slick. Someone will be hurt soon if they don't start running the AC in the Racquetball courts. read more

Horrible manager there. Very emotional when trying to negotiate a price for additional membership I was looking to add. Tells me to calm down when he was the one that losed his cool. Proceeds to hangs up when im trying to negotiate a better price. Definitely on a power trip as well. Not sure how they have somebody emotionally unstable running the place. If that's how he treats somebody looking to spend more money there I can imagine what he does with his employees. Been to this location twice and both times it was alright, can improve on equipment and facility cleanliness. Went to get paper towels to clean equipment on second floor and there were none in the dispenser or a liquid to clean before and after use. Went to ask at front desk but front desk was left unattended. On the plus side there is a sauna room separate for women, changing area and lockers are kept clean. Went to a zumba class that is included with membership. Will try other classes that are offered as well. read more

Horrible, utterly horrible experience here. The gym is OK, but every day there are people intercepting you trying to sell you a training membership. The sales person, Lamar, is very good at charming people into it. I finally did my trial, and he said sign up today, I'll give you a great deal. I said that I wanted to think about it. He told me to sign up to get the deal, and I can cancel within 7 days. The contract said 3 days, and I pointed this out, but he reassured me 7 days. Just come to him. Day 3 fell on a Sunday, so I went in first thing Monday to cancel. He clicked some things on his computer and asked for the training book back, which I went back to my car to get for him. He looked at me and said, "done". I asked again if everything was final, and he reassured me, yes. Next thing I know, I'd been charged 3 times on my card under file, hundreds each time. I called, emailed, went by many times, never any response from anyone, even at the corporate level. Finally, sent a formal complaint to my health care insurer now. So much stress. I hate this place. My husband and I workout about 4-6 days a week, and after being a member here for one year, my husband and I cancelled our memberships. This was the best decision we made. Initially, we paid the insane initiation fee because we literally lived across the street, and the convenience was great. As time passed, things at this gym got worse and worse. For example: -The free weights area: dumbbells and plates are NEVER ever re-racked. There was one Saturday that I went into the gym and I was looking for 20s, they were sitting in the trainers area. Not only were 20s missing, but most of the dumbbells were just scattered throughout the gym. The part that bothered me the most was that there was three LA fitness employees (non-PT) all playing basketball while the gym looked like a total mess. There is no pride in the gym. Trainers area: So recently, the trainers have had this designated area set up for them, and it's taped off and you shouldn't go in there unless you're working with a trainer. That's cool. The issue with this is, they do not have their own equipment. What is done is they use the equipment of the gym and use/leave it in their little area. And since they're training people who are probably new to working out, that means that all the lower weighted weights are hogged up by them for their clients. Alright, that's fine, I guess. But then they have all these signs posted that you cannot go into their area and take their equipment (which isn't even theirs). So there is always weights/dumbbells just sitting in there that no one is using because no one can touch them! Absolutely irritating. My other issue was: -Member services: I signed up online to my LA fitness account so that I was able to add my brother onto my VIP list, on their very own website it states that your VIP family member can have 2 weeks consecutive access to work out. Nope. He went for about 7 days, and after that day the guy who takes his ID recognized him and said that he no longer had gym access. I asked why, and he said that the VIP pass was only good for 3 days, even though it says ON THEIR website it says 2 weeks. I asked, how he was able to come to the gym for 7 days and no one said anything then. We spoke to the manager and he said it's all completely up to their discretion who they allow in. So although, you have the ability to go online and use this service that you pay for, you can't use it if they feel like they don't feel like letting you use it. -Children in weight room: So I don't really care that there are kids there or not, but I only bring this up, because one weekend this man brought his son to the gym when it was dead empty, and the guy at the front desk said that his son could not play basketball while he lifted weights. The man got angry, but eventually him and his son left. Then about a week later, I saw an even younger kid hanging out with his mom and dad in the actual weight room messing with things, and no one told them otherwise. The inconsistencies at this gym are ridiculous, but what else can you expect from a gym like this. -The water at most water fountains is luke warm. -The toilets in the lady's room are gross. -Still no ventilation in the gym so it smells horrible. After a year of this, we went to LfeTime fitness and have been loving it. As the saying goes: "you get what you pay for." read more

I love this location. I love LA Fitness generally but this is one of my fave spots though it's pretty far from me. Clean, nice, friendly staff. Easy to park. All necessary equipment available for weight training, stretching, etc Love the spa, sauna, pool features. Love their class options- Zumba, Aqua, Silver Sneakers, Bootcamp, etc! Gym is clean, love that it's not always full like 24 hour fitness or fitness connection during Covid times. One of the major reason I left those gyms in spite of them being cheaper and open for longer hours. Members are friendly and so is the staff and plenty of equipment. My only knock so far is that they are definitely not enforcing the mask. People are walking around with no mask in site on there persons. I mean you'll see some with the mask under the chin but damn theres people in here as if they walked in the front door without it. Needs to be more enforcement with the mask. Please. This facility is generally clean compared to the other LA Fitness locations, including Greenway. It's conveniently located in the energy corridor and doesn't get as packed as other gyms in the area. The negatives? - Their designated training area is obnoxiously big for the small amount of people that I've seen with private training sessions. - They close an hour earlier than other locations on the weekends. The reason - less people come in after 7pm so, it costs more to keep it open for one hour. As a member, I was told specific hours upon signing up. Just because they want to "save" an hour, people like me are shorted our hours. - There is no security. There is constantly broken glass around the parking lot indicating car break ins. read more

worst gym experience ever. treadmills dont work properly, lack of equipment leads to sitting around waiting for machines or benches to be open more than actually working out. basketball court is overcrowded and fights break out frequently. on top of that, the staff at this particular location is nothing short of idiotic. genuinely would be surprised if a single one of the workers there read at above a 2nd grade reading level. I went into the club to cancel a few months back and the worker told me I was set and would not be charged ever again. today I realized I had been charged the last 3 months. I called to get my refund and the moron who took my call told me "there is a note saying that you wanted to cancel your membership but nothing saying that you actually cancelled". keep in mind that the only way they even let you cancel it is to go in person into their dump of a gym. he refused to refund me my money and proceeded to blame me for not coming into the gym to cancel my membership (which i did). if you are the guy I just spoke to on the phone and you are reading this I hope you are stuck working at that s---hole gym for the rest of your pathetic life. idiot. sincerely, disappointed. read more

Looking for a place to never go to? LA Fitness has you covered. I signed up in Early July with the promise that I could work out here late on weekends when most people are drinking. Within 2 weeks of me signing an irrevocable contract, they change the hours on me and now they close weekends at 7pm. Really? There's a 24 hour gym 3 blocks away. They also have consistent problems with fire alarms going off for no reason, their response was to kick me and everyone else out in the middle of the day multiple times to bring "fire safety guys" in for "testing". Between their changing hours and their incompetence with fire safety, have been kicked out 5 times in two months before my workout was over. Hurricane Harvey just hit here, but even though there was no flooding damage to this facility and all neighboring businesses are open as of September 1, they aren't opening back up until September 8th! That's two and a half weeks closed. That's fine for them they keep your money, but for someone who exercises two and a half weeks off is ridiculous. Other people are up and running but not a place who gets paid on a predetermined contract basis? Funny how that works. When you try to cancel your membership you either have to come in 9-5 Mon thru Friday or send in a complicated form via snail mail. My wife and I both sent in our cancellation forms separately and only hers was processed. Guess 1 for 2 isn't bad huh? In other words, this gym is perfect for you New year's resolution types. When does negligence become gross negligence? The maintenance on gym equipment here is laughable. This gym is riddled with loose bolts, deteriorating attachments and seized machines that never see lubrication which make a lot of equipment simply unsafe to use. LA Fitness Eldridge just underwent a major renovation in the past few weeks and the place looks, feels, and -almost just as importantly- SMELLS fantastic. There isn't much about working out that gets me excited; on the days I'm lacking motivation (which happen more often than none), it's SUCH a chore to drag myself out to the gym, but a brand new facility will do the trick. New, carpet-less floors; new paint job; mostly new weight machines; more free weight equipment; renovated locker rooms... everything is spotless, for now at least. I haven't checked out the group fitness rooms or basketball court yet, but I'm sure they've been touched up as well. One lame thing I noticed is they've roped off a huge chunk of the machine area for their personal training crap. It's obviously their way to peak members' interest and increase sign-ups, but whatevs - as long as it means they have their own equipment and they'll stop hoarding all the good stuff. Other than that annoyance, this particular location gets the job done for me. Other tips: Peak hours are after 5pm on weekdays, don't expect much from the staff, and make sure to read the fine print about terminating your membership (apparently lots of folks have beef with this process). Oh, and not a fan of how they handle guest passes. Don't bring a guest unless they're prepared to sit down and listen to a whole marketing speech before being allowed to use the pass. Total turn-off. Quick S/O to Wesley's Body Works + Abs class! Definitely the best class (and instructor) to take if you're looking for a quick full-body workout to kick your ass. read more

I also have a membership at 24 Hour Fitness which is wayyyy better and so only come here when I don't feel like driving during high traffic hours. The staff are all trainers and the middle of the establishment is like a circus where u can watch everyone who pays for training. read more

Sales guy has no info about the WiFi not working. Clearly they are separate from the actual gym folks. He made that clear in his response to me about why the WiFi wasn't working. There's no WiFi! Clean looking environment and has the basic equipments. That's the good part. Very commercialized in the sense that you will get access to a lot more equipments if you sign up for a trainer. A year or so ago they renovated the gym. Yes, it looked prettier but they cordoned off like 25% of the gym space (estimate) for the personal trainers. Earlier there used to be more equipment available to the "common" folks but they reduced that quite a bit (I think by about a 1/3rd). The personal training section has all the kettle balls, half shells and everything else. Outside, there are like 2 or 3 kettle balls, no half shells. read more

As a gym, I think this place is actually decent. Plenty of equipment and a good variety of options available. Friendly front desk staff. If you're looking for a long-term gym, I actually have nothing bad to say about this place. My gripe is with their corporate policies and how they make YOU feel like an idiot when they're not cancelling your membership. I was in town for a few months and decided that a weekly membership would work since this location was close to where I was staying. They tell you when you sign up that in order to cancel, you must submit a written notice to a given address. Easy enough. When my time in town was coming to an end, I typed up a letter and made copies of the contract I was given so they'd know what account to close. Mailed it off and I figured that was that. A couple of weeks later, I'm going through my credit card charges to find that I'm still paying for a membership. I'm going through their website and it states that you have to send in a written request, and other parts of the site weren't accessible unless you signed up with a profile online. I go ahead and sign up to come and find out that there's actually a form that you're supposed to print out to send to the address that they had previously given. The form that you print out is actually already addressed with a stamp box, so you're supposed to just be able to fold it up, affix a stamp, and mail it in. I was skeptical that this would be adequate since they could say something like "oh your form must've been damaged in the mail," so I printed out a second form and actually mailed it in an envelope to the same address. A week and a half later, I find out I'm still being charged. I call in to see if maybe they had notes on my account that a cancellation was being processed and there were none. I tell them that obviously mailing in my cancellation notice wasn't working, so I needed to cancel in some other way. They try to tell me that I can cancel in person, but I wasn't planning on being in town anytime soon. Then they tried to get someone to come in as my proxy to cancel for me, which not only wasn't an available option, but sounded ridiculous. Finally they tell me that a manager can cancel for me. Really? Save the easiest option for last? Of course, no manager was available when I called, so I requested a callback. When I didn't get a call back, I called back the next day and finally got in touch with one. I tell him I've already sent in three written cancellation requests and I suspected that they just weren't checking their mail. He scoffed and said they would NEVER just not process anyone's request. He then pointed out that I only signed up to their website a few weeks ago so obviously I was exaggerating or lying about my previous attempts at cancellation. When I tried to explain the situation, he cuts me off and goes "Ok, you're cancelled. Are we done?" Nice. They get to talk to you like you're garbage once they're not getting your money anymore. So in the end, I paid for an extra 4 weeks ($40) from when I originally tried to cancel. I actually called my credit card company to see if I could dispute it, but since their cancellation policy was "plainly" laid out and I didn't have any proof that I mailed anything, I was SOL. Oh well, put it behind me and good riddance. read more

When I first printed a coupon, it said that I could get a 2 week free trial. I never got around to using it, so I printed a new coupon that said 3 day trial, but I was hoping they would still give me the 2 weeks. I genuinely wanted to test out how much I would actually go in 2 weeks (not trying to scam LA Fitness). I got a big lecture about how others had been abusing the free trials when I got there. The trainer at the time didn't seem like he wanted to help. Maybe he thought I was there to abuse the free trial as well. Thankfully, another associate gave me a quick tour and was left to enjoy the gym. He told me to come find him when I was done to get my 3 day pass. At the end of the night, however, all they wanted to do was sell me a plan instead of giving me my free 3 day pass. Isn't the whole point of the three day pass so that I can use it for three days and THEN decide? It was so much pressuring after one hour in the gym. All in all, the impression I received was that the workers are rude and have sticks up their butts. They are most definitely not about customer satisfaction. The facilities are clean and average. There is a sauna next to the showers. I attended a zumba class, and that was a lot of fun. The schedule shows a lot of classes. What kept me from this gym was that it closes early on Saturday and Sundays (the days I'm most likely to work out for a long time). read more

Just like the other reviews on here, if the staff is being friendly its because they are trying to sell you, don't fall for it. They do this thing where if you try to cancel within the 3 days allowed by Texas ( they say 7, but its 3) they will lie to you say It's canceled so most likely you can pass the days and then not be able to cancel. Just like another reviewer said happened to her. Ask for proof and trust no one. The manager, she is very rude and condescending. The gym itself looked very nice though, I never got to work out and am currently looking for a place to go as I will not go here. Finally found the right person and he made things right. This site discriminates against handicapped people. They have decided to keep the family changing room locked making impossible to assist people with special needs. When I complained to the front desk the lady said the manager wanted it closed then turned her back on me. I have called to talk to the manager, but he will not return my calls. I joined this gym in the beginning of June 2014. I had 3 criteria that I wanted filled: 1. High selection of weights (dumbbells, power racks, machines) 2. A full court basketball gym 3. Swimming pool I had never been a member of LA Fitness prior to this summer and I was excited to have access to a facility that met all 3 of my aforementioned criteria. Pros: -Incredibly huge gym with a surplus of equipment available. -Very accomodating operation hours. I can go as early in the morning or as late at night as is feasible. I've never had a gym, other than college, that opened until midnight. Cons: -The general culture here is a mess. No one re-racks their weights. Dumbbells are almost always laying around on the floor posing a major hazard for foot traffic. It is very annoying when you go to find say a 75 lb. dumbbell on the rack only to 1. Not find it in its correct place or 2. Only find one of its pair with its twin nowhere to be found. Not so much an inherent problem with the facility as it is with the client base, but more stringent rules can be put into effect to clean up people's attitude. -The basketball court is not air conditioned, or maybe it is but the air circulation is so weak that you might as well be playing in a sauna. I regret not doing my due diligence and reading up on this place before signing up. One other poster has complained that the A/C in the court has been out since around August 2013. That's almost one full year now! All you ballers know that you play rain or shine, weather be damned. But if I'm going to pay for an indoor basketball facility then I expect it to have decent air circulation conditions. No comment on the group classes or individualized training programs. I haven't experienced these facets of the facility so I'll leave that for others to give their two cents. Overall, I've had an underwhelming experience here. The price is decent, and the location is prime for where I currently live. But I've experienced better conditions in much cheaper facilities. I'm sure management is aware of these problems but I get a sense that there is a lack of urgency to correct them. I'll keep my eyes open for any changes. read more

I don't normally go to mass chain gyms bc I can work out at my work gym for free and my family has a membership at the Y. I only tried this place out cause I got a deal through my health insurance plan and the location is super convenient. However, every time I went here the free weights were scattered everywhere. We aren't allowed to use the equipment in the area taped up for the trainers to use on their clients. I really wanted to use kettle bells cause neither my work gym nor the Y has those available. I also wanted to use the pool but every lane was always being used. I went to a cycling class and the instructor never showed up. This place is always crowded, from the times I went at 5 am to 6-10 pm. Also, the showers are pretty disgusting. There was a fur ball or something clumped in the corner on the floor of my shower when I went in it. The other ones were being used and I had to get to work so I had to get over it. I've never encountered that at any other gym I'd gone to... Even at the Y which I consider a community gym. Standards, people. Because of these reasons, there was no point in me keeping my membership. Pretty disappointing. read more
