Mangers who know how to properly de-escalate situations and articulate and explain why I need to sit down with another associate to complete my membership when I have been patronizing the gym for over 2 years . I believe the manager wanted to use my account to receive sales credit or renew in a way that benefits that location . When I called him out about it he lied and stated it was a waiver that he needed me to sign which I have done in the past. A gym waiver and a contract for membership look completely different . When I made a complaint through the right channels the manager followed me into the gym and forced me to discuss the matter and to assert his authority he asked me to leave when I expressed repeatedly I didn't want to speak to him . I absolutely love this location. It's always very clean, the staff is very friendly and the kid center has been a huge help! I typically visit at 8am until about 9:30am when the kids center is open for my son. I always use the stair master, workout on the green and the sauna. The sauna is usually open and not crowded during the time that I go. I love how the cardio equipment is all upstairs. I typically only use the treadmill but there are so many different types to choose from. Overall this place is top tier with the friendly staff and cleanliness. read more

ATTENTION PARENTS: DO NOT send your child here. My son was exposed to pornography by one of the staff members on her laptop. There are strict policies against allowing staff to have electronics out or allow a child to be on one of their personal devices. Not only did she have it out, but she allowed him to play games on it where he accidently clicked on an open tab of her naked. The manger then asked my husband and I, "what would you like us to do about it?" She then falsified the incident report by saying the matter was handled and we were very happy with the outcome. Not true. The employee was not fired, she was relocated. Fast forward a few years when my son finally built up the courage to go back knowing that same person wouldn't be there, he broke is arm due to overcapacity of children, negligence, and lack of control of the children in such a small space. We have discontinued our membership which is what we should have done a long time ago. Aside from these events, I also have two toddlers who I have witnessed walking around with sharp pencils and climbing ontop of chairs with them in their hand. If that's not enough, my not even one year old, was walking around a large group of big kids who play rough. There is a designated enclosed area for the babies, so I'm not certain why she was subject to being injured out in the open. To top it off, my other two year old daughter was given a phone by one of the staff members to watch movies on that she is not allowed to watch at home nor did I give them permission to do this. Seeing how my son was exposed to nudity on the last device given to him, I would have never allowed this. Again, the staff is not supposed to have electronics out or allow the children to use the staff's devices. The capacity for this tiny space allows for there to be over 50 children. The ratio for staff to children is 1 staff member to 10 children. They do not have the right amount of staff on the premises to accommodate for that type of capacity. There were times when the amount of children to childcare workers over exceeded the legal ratio. The childcare workers, although nice, are not professional and they have 0 control over the kids. Had a frustrating experience at the Katy location (19550 Restaurant Row) that ultimately led me to cancel my membership. I accidentally left behind my shoes and clothes after a workout and called shortly after to have them held. When I followed up a few days later before driving 39 minutes out of my way, the staff refused to confirm whether my items were there--citing "policy"--despite asking me to describe them in detail (size 13 Adidas EVO SL shoes, black shirt, shorts). The manager got on the phone, asked me to repeat everything, then gave a vague answer about the cleaning crew throwing away "smelly" items. Still no clear yes or no. Completely unhelpful and unnecessarily difficult. When I asked for his name, he didn't say it--he just spelled out "N-I-C-K" and refused to provide a last name. Overall, a bizarre and unprofessional interaction. I travel a lot for work and value gyms with multiple locations, but this experience was enough for me to cancel. Equipment is old and not being replaced. Four treadmills are currently out of service and several more have treads that are starting to rip. The two Precor stretch machines were in awful condition, so were removed a year ago and have yet to be replaced. We have been members for many years but it's time to find a new gym. I joined and paid my good earned money specifically for the pool and spa amenities due to my health problems. In the few months I've tried to use the services the spa was down for months and now the spa is up and running and they closed the pool for maintenance work. No one knows when it will be repaired and reopened. Why am I paying all this money if I can't get what I need? It's no wonder why they have major breaks and repairs because they have no upkeep. We love the kids club here because of Ms Sandra. We specifically chose this location over others due to how wonderful she is watching our kids. She doesn't just let them watch tv but makes sure they run around and play so they are tired and active. I heard today that she was fired which makes me very very sad. I go here because it's close to my home but during the weekend I go to a newer location near work. The equipment here is old and rusty. The treadmills and ellipticals make noise when you use them as if they need to be oiled or a part needs to be replaced. The treadmills also kind of stick or jerk when you walk on them. The group fitness room has been closed and under construction for months and the bathroom area is usually in shambles. read more

My gym closed down and we got transferred to this location. Told the staff member I was from Fitness 19 and he acted like that's the last thing he wanted to do. The gym is absolutely disgusting people will sweat lot use a machine then walk off leaving sweat dripping. Dumbbells and plates are left thrown throughout the gym. I'm extremely upset as I recently had my single club membership changed to this location, and it is horrible. they are missing weights in all varsities. and the ones they do have are falling apart. this literally has to be the gym then send all the trash from all the other la's too. if I could provide pictures I would, because the ones shown here do not paint a picture of just how crumby this gym is compared to literally any other LA fitness throughout Houston. They clearly dont have someone come in and rerack the weights at the end of day like other locations because they are all over the place first thing when it opens. They don't clean anything. The operations manager will flat out lie and claim they do clean however that nasty spot on the mirror is proof that they do not, as 5 days later I took a rag and cleaned it myself. I attempted to come here and sign up for new membership. I spoke to the GM Antonio earlier in the morning and he talked about the amazing rates they currently have. He asked when I can come in (same day) and I told him I was unsure but I gave him estimated time frames after 1-2pm. I arrived after 330pm as he confirmed he will be there til 8 today. When I got there, only one front desk rep was there. Her back was turned and she was talking to someone else. I am not sure if it was another employee or not but not once did she turn around to acknowledge the guests at the front. There was another gentleman in front of me. We probably waited over 5 minutes and I called to ask for Antonio and they said he left for a meeting and won't be back til later. I just left. Not sure how long I was going to be waiting without any sort of acknowledgment. Lean staff is common these days but if a gym is dependent on new members, this is not a very successful approach; to sit at the front with the back turned around and no proper signage to direct new members. read more

I've been using this LA fitness since it's close to home and I've been a member for 5 years and it's been no issues. Until I wanted to add a member to my plan is when I saw how unprofessional and rude the staff was at this location. We walk in to the office area and instead of a hello we are greeted by a rude staff saying "you aren't allowed to walk in this area" ok.... My husband and I went in for our first fitness assessment at the LA Fitness location at Katy off at I-10. We met with Noah who was our fitness assessor and we were very impressed with his professionalism on how he listened to our weight concerns and goals. We didn't feel rushed and showed impossible techniques to follow. He walked us through on a schedule to follow to help us achieve our goals. We both are looking forward to this journey and in general, we were impressed with the facility as a whole. read more

I am not sure where to start...maybe the lazy dude behind the desk that didn't even look up when I walked in but proceeded to flip his head to the desk behind him telling me to talk to them...or maybe it was the counselor who was eating Popeyes while giving me a pass...or the closed basketball court because the floor was falling apart...or the mismatched dumbbells scattered all over the place ... or the broken equipment marked off everywhere...or the girl behind the desk taking selfies of herself....or the dirty, used paper towels scattered all over the weight floor...or the spray bottles leaking underneath the benches and under the dumbbell rack...or when I walked out because I was disgusted and nobody looked up. Well, another car break in happened at this location yesterday and it was my husband that was the victim. His truck was broken into in the afternoon around 3-4pm while he was visiting this location for a quick workout. I think the reaction from management at the gym was almost more infuriating for him than the actual break-in. He addressed that his vehicle was broken into and that the police were coming, and he asked if they had working cameras. According to him, a staff member said that they did not and the cameras in the parking lot don't work. Someone else who worked there proceeded to tell my husband that their own vehicle was broken into not long ago. Okay, so? Are you going to do something about them now? Are you going to protect the people who work out here, or even WORK here now? Probably not. How long is this location going to blame corporate for their troubles? Do something about the crime. We have now canceled our memberships that we've had since 2014 with LA Fitness. I was visiting this location 4-5 days a week. If I don't feel safe when I leave in the evening alone, I can't continue to pay for such a membership. It's a true shame and LA Fitness needs to take responsibility for once. SAVE YOUR MONEY!!! First I tried calling to ask about memberships but the gentleman at the front desk provided some of the worst customer service I've ever experienced. After that encounter I called another LA Fitness to ask about membership pricing and he provided me great customer service so I decided to pursue a membership. My first day I went to this gym I was greeted in the most unpleasant way by the front desk worker. Next I decided to start working out to seeing basically every Dumbell misplaced, overall dirty looking gym, and people who never wipe down they equipment use. I've been to multiple gyms, planet fitness, 24 hour fitness, and the new gym I'll attend Connection fitness and this is by far the worst gym I've been to. However, they do have a hot tub and pool and that's about the only positive thing I can say for this gym and location. I still can't justify spending 40 dollars a month for this gym when all the competitor gyms are cheaper and cleaner. Moral of the story just after 6 days I will be cancelling my membership and can say I wasted a good 100 dollars for the initiation fee! read more

This is probably the shittiest gym in Katy with the worst staff available. I think her name is Michelle, the operations manager, has no clue what she's doing, or what the sales staff is doing. Very unhelpful all around and they do a horrible job over there. Gym equipment is outdated at best, and repairs take quite a while. Overall, for the bang per buck, this is probably the worst gym experience you can get in the katy/houston area. I would recommend Fitness Connection for the price, or even 24 hour Fitness, heck even Lifetime. I came here for the summer as a college student to get a good workout in a trusted my past experiences here to give me a smooth transaction, but in reality, it is probably the shittiest experience you can get. Literally gave me Aids having to talk to the staff as well as working out here. I'd give it a negative star if I could. They owe me a star if anything. read more

NOT SAFE - poor customer service. My 17 year old has the membership at this location and works out nearly every day. Today someone shattered the passenger side window of our car while he was working out. My husband came to the location to guide next steps, see what could be done and request camera footage. The manager or whoever was acting like the manager proceeded to accuse my husband of doing the break-ins....which was absolutely bizarre. (There were multiple cars broken into.) He began saying "are you admitting to doing the breakins?" It was an infuriating exchange. We decided to cancel the membership as it is obviously not safe to workout there. So we called back and knowing the intense conversation that just took place, the person on the phone said we had to come in - in person to cancel...BUT there wont be anyone there who can cancel our membership because he is on vacation for the entire week. But that was not the case. He said he started this job September 1st about 2 days ago. I guess he does not know what he is doing. As a VP you need to be a example for others. Walked into the club, ready to work out. I brought my empty water bottle in with me to fill up at the water fountain, like always. Water fountain did not work...I went to use the restroom and the facilities were urgently in need of cleaning...this bothered me, as they were the same way the last time I was here. I dismissed all of this and walked upstairs to get my work out on, certain that one of the other water fountains would be able to fill my water bottle. I walked upstairs and was dismayed that the upstairs water fountain ALSO did not work. Frustrated, I walked down stairs to try ONE MORE fountain...but no. None of their water fountains were working. At this point, I'm done...I walked out, without working out. I've been an LA fitness member for years, but this facility needs a deep clean and better management...maybe 24 hour fitness would like my money from now on. read more

The worst place ever. My son left his airpod Pro upstairs in the bike area. I detected them in the women locker and I couldn't go into the girl's bag but clearly they were there because it was peeping and all the women heard it. By the time I went to get the gentleman in the front, the girl moved them. The other women said she walked out and grabbed something. She must of took them to her other friends. Sadly to say now a days people have lost the meaning of honesty. It's also sad that they played the sad sorrow victim of being black. I don't care what color skin a person is but everyone heard that the AirPods were there. Being a member at this gym for the past year, I've noticed a lot of issues. The equipment is VERY outdated. They also don't put much effort to fix their equipment when it is out of service. Weekday evenings get very packed (there is a wait time on cardio and weight machine) in which I'm pretty sure it's like that at most gyms, but it's ridiculous here. The women bathroom has a very strange, lingering odor and is not well kept. Toilets are usually clogged, and 2 out of their 3 sinks don't work properly. My husband enjoys the atmosphere at the basketball court, so I guess that's a plus, but other than that, the gym needs a lot of updating and improvement. read more
