I've been going to gyms for nearly 20 years....this is the worst gym I have ever been to. The facility is nice, it's clean, and there's plenty of equipment. This location gets 1 star because of the culture...NO ONE puts their equipment away when they're finished, and the staff does nothing about it. With all my gym experience, I have never seen anything like it. And this isn't an LA Fitness thing, this problem is specific to this location. Ive spoken to staff about it, and they all acknowledge the problem, but do nothing about it. In fact, they actually recommended that I visit a different location to avoid the problem. Despite the fact that I live less than a mile away from this location, I gladly drive 5 miles down the road to the suggested different location. Also, don't expect the staff to do much for you, they're too busy scrolling their phones to even acknowledge you. read more

The staff is great but the gym inside is awful. The lights are broken in many areas, some of the equipment is broken, and it is hot inside. On most days, it is overcrowded inside. This LA fitness also lacks cable machines. Hope they can fix this. read more

Cons: Equipment is extremely old. Equipment is abused and rusted. Missing several key pieces of equipment needed for a modern workout. Equipment is not put away by members OR the staff at close. If you need a workout then this location gets the job done. 3 squat racks / platforms, but the deadlift platforms have some serious warping from members using iron plates on them. 4 flat benches and 2 inclines which is pretty nice. The turf area usually has a bunch of randomly scattered items all over the place. They make an effort to rope off a large area for personal training clients and I've seen them use it on occasion, but otherwise people cross into the area with no enforcement. The layout of the machines is not the most intuitive, but they pretty much have everything you need. The random assortment of dumbbells are scattered in different areas of the gym and I don't think I've ever seen them in their proper place on the rack. The bathrooms are usually looking pretty tough. The pool is heavily chlorinated as a public pool should be, which means it burns and dries your skin out fast, the hot tub is okay. The location is very convenient and the parking is plentiful. read more

I really hate leaving negative reviews but this is in hopes improvements will be made and I will gladly update my review. Where do I begin? Last week there was what I would guess was a young teenage boy running through the locker room while at least 3 women were completely undressed. This is unacceptable. This gym is a glorified high school gym. Kids from the local high school come in house slippers and pajamas in groups of 2-6 together and loiter on the machines. This location is actually infamous for the boys with zero gym etiquette. The machines are the oldest and in the worst condition I've ever seen at an LA Fitness, 24 Hour Fitness or any gym I've been to for that matter. The sanitation stations are always out or scheduled for service which tells you it's unsanitary. I have to bring my own wipes and hand sanitizer. The ladies locker room is the worst I have ever seen. Hooks for bags broken in the bathrooms so you have to hold your stuff or put in on the floor. Zero hooks for the sauna so everyone throws their stuff on the floors. This gym has so much potential. Hopefully improvements are made so we don't have to cancel our memberships. read more

Do not sign up for personal training here. They make it incredibly difficult to cancel and give you the runaround even when you try to do it right away in person. Terrible customer service because of the high turnover of that gym which makes it a very frustrating experience for customers. Save yourself the headache. All they care about is selling you and taking your money. read more

Signed up for training but canceled within a few days by walking into the gym and speaking to the sale rep who sold me the package. I paid in full but now they won't give me my refund because the sales guy that I had canceled with didn't do it on time. When I checked on the status he is no longer there and they won't cancel it and give me the run around asking for what I proof I have that I canceled. When it's their employee that messed up and no longer there to say that he did. Poor customer service as they don't care and just want to take your money. I trusted them as being 74 yrs old and changed my mind. I never did any personal training. read more

I like how this gym is in the center of the woodbury town center. The location is great though it can be extremely busy. For those complaining how busy the gym gets, just get a workout in earlier before work and stop settling for gym after work hours. Overall, this gym is fine. I like how there are plenty of squat racks and bench presses. However, there are limitations with the dumbbells. There's just not enough inclined benches. The bathroom is okay. I just don't know why they don't seem to refill the soap. Also, I just wish the people in the front desk have better attitude. It just looks like they all hate their jobs. Doesn't hurt to say HI or good morning. I don't get it when I say good morning and all they do is ignore. read more

Terrible service We were in a time crunch and told the guy we had come in early to get everything set up and instead he kept trying to show us pricing when we had already seen pricing. He mentioned extending the pass if I wrote a review and my assumption is cool I will write it after my experience but instead wanted us to write it on the spot. We had family membership here and used to leave kids in playroom. One of the playroom attendant didn't really care about the kids, no talk, no eye contact, always on phone. We had noticed multiple times but our last straw came when our daughter got hurt in the eye and she didn't attend to or inform us. Instead she just made a passing comment to my 3 yr old.... "are you blind?". My son informed us and my daughter's eye was red. Wasn't really an emergency, but she should have attended or we should have been informed. When we brought it to the manager's attention, she asked us she can't do anything about it and asked us to change our timings around the playroom attendant's shift. Please be aware of the fitness trainer director at barranca. I had severe injury caused by their back extension which is an antiquated eqipment. I wanted a trainer to guide me through the machine assuming i was doing something wrong. A guy named Tyler came and said i will give you training sessions and will help you. He then took me to the signing counter and tried to enter me into some contract. I indicated that i cannot go into contract as i will be taking a new job. He contacted his director and he came and said if you are taking a new job the contract will be cancelled. Low and behold i sent 2 emails and went in person to cancel but he agrees and charged my card which i have disputed. My back is unbearable as i took 2 or 3 sessions which i was charged previously for 2 months. Please do not trust these people at barranca location read more

I've used two guest passes here so far, both for friends who are Canadian citizens. This time, my mom came from Korea and wanted to come to the gym with me. At first, they said bringing her passport would be enough. But today, even though she brought it, they said since she doesn't have a U.S. ID, she has to pay $20 per day for 4 days -- and only then they'll give her some extra days. Why is the story different every time? The person I spoke with today was John Johnson, and his attitude toward customers was extremely rude. Worst LA fitness in the area by far. Rude staff and terrible management. You can tell the manger hired his friends who all clearly do not care about this gym's operations. They can't event open the gym on time. Their website says Sunday open time is 7AM--there was a large group of people who were waiting until 8:30AM to get in. I left after waiting for an hour so who knows when someone finally rolled out of bed to open the gym today. read more

Think twice before making a membership here!! This business and location is dishonest and uses deceptive practices to keep your money. I went to La fitness in this location in august and was pressured into making a membership with a fitness trainer and then when I tried to cancel, I was told by multiple people that they would cancel and refund my account but never did. I was charged a total of over 1,100 and only after two months of visiting in person to cancel, being told it was being cancelled and about to be refunded while still being charged, and then finally calling their corporate offices did I get 400 back. They gave me the run around and then charged me 500 including random charges for a month I wasn't even in the city! If you make a membership here and try to cancel and get a refund MAKE SURE you send a physical letter instead of visiting because otherwise you're not getting your money back. This whole ordeal has been a nightmare and I wish I never stepped foot in this gym. read more
