I think it's some Italian brand but not sure. Im on the VIP Waitlist for both Costa Mesa and Portola. Primarily interested in Costa Mesa since my work is across the street. If their early pricing is around 150-200 a month I'll sign up immediately.

The parking is shared with other businesses, and I went on a Saturday at noon when it was really crowded. The gym has two stories, with amenities like a personal training area, and group classes such as courts, Pilates, and more on both sides. The pool, sauna, steam room, and locker rooms are all on the first floor. Compared to the 24 Hour Fitness in my area and others I've visited in Los Angeles, this one was definitely cleaner, which is why I'm giving it a higher rating. They said it was renovated, but to be honest, I couldn't really see what was new. at least three machines were broken and out of order, including the biceps, back pull, and lat machines, with no signs on them. The space was really tight and packed with people, so I'm not even sure how they could expand as everything felt cramped. That said, the steam room and sauna were cleaner than other 24 Hour Fitness locations I've visited, which is a big plus. Overall, I'm giving this location four stars it's cleaner and has a nice atmosphere, but they really need to stay on top of maintenance, patrolling the machines daily or making sure broken equipment is addressed because it has so much potential. And I will say, the view from the second floor was really nice, bright and airy so it has a good feel overall.

A lot of things has certainly changed drastically after it became what it is today. I would say 50/50% of things happening here are good and bad. Behind the closed doors things are not always what they seem for a 5 star upscale gym. A lot of members including myself had have our personal belongings stolen from us from time to time. I've personally had a issue recently that resulted in someone stealing by $200 cycling bib shorts after I went to take a shower after a extremely exhausting spin class. That's pretty disgusting on who ever stole a pair of stinky worn shorts belonging to someone else. Others have their underwear stolen directly from their lockers while they simply walked away to get something. It's creepy. We never had this problem when the Sport Club/LA was around. Seem like all of the bad things that has happened to this beautiful gym is by members who were previously members of 24 hour fitness. Other than the negative things, Equinox is ALWAYS a nice gym to go to when you're looking for the most exclusive upscale gym other companies don't have. I was skeptical at first because it's further for me than going to the location in the Irvine business district. Also the Irvine location was bigger but the classes were packed and the ventilation there was awful!! The class would smell terrible from everyone's BO, sweat, and dust and dirty equipment. So I was very skeptical about giving a new spot a shot in case it was even worse. But I took my first class here at the Laguna Hills location and loved it! Marya was teaching the class and she was such a good trainer. The class size was smaller there were about 6 of us, and the classroom was well kept, much cleaner, and I love the the walls have garage doors that go up and open to allow for plenty of fresh air. Bathrooms were clean and the equipment was newer. Until the Costa Mesa location opens I'll be very happy coming here instead!

Instead on this trip, I had a free room available in my account, which I wanted to redeem before expiring. First of all, the front desk people are very sweet and were very knowledgeable about the hotel and the amenities included. It was also around $35 for overnight parking, which I guess was okay considering I was only staying one night. The parking garage is adjacent to the hotel. Couple of the reasons I came is for the swimming pool and the gym. It seems this is what the hotel revolves around; that and the kid care. Entering into the hotel room, it was super clean and very nice. They have a no-smoking policy in the room, which I love because certain hotels don't have that kind of policy and the rooms smells horrible. When I woke up in the morning, I had a view of the pool and spa. It seemed there was a class in the pool and it looked really fun and I didn't know they had classes. Unfortunately, I didn't have any time to see the gym, but I will my next trip to this hotel. Next time I head to this hotel, I'll have more to review but for now, this is all I have to say.
