This is the largest, nicest Planet Fitness I've used. It offers a *lot* of equipment over two floors, plus room for yoga or stretching. It's very good. I offer two areas for improvement. First, I noticed weights missing, mis-racked, or orphaned. At least one of the staffers hanging around the front desk should walk through every hour and tidy things up. Second, the music is so loud that I couldn't listen to my podcast. Turn the music down; most people are wearing headphones or earbuds, anyway. That said, I won't hesitate to come here when staying in DTLB. It really is quite nice. read more

Their paper towels are out in a few sections regularly. Yesterday morning, I informed the front desk that two areas were missing paper towels and hoped it would be addressed. Today, the entire gym is out of paper towels which I confirmed with the front desk. We all sweat and touch all the equipments, so I find this quite bothersome. They should prioritize the cleanliness for everyone there. If the front desk staff were a little more apologetic and kind in their mannerism, I would have been more understanding. But the lack of customer care and the way they responded to my concerns led me here. The shipment could be delayed, as they shared, but given I had informed them about this concern yesterday, they had one day to run to the store to purchase even regular paper towels. They are the RUDEST and disrespectful staff!! Came here on a Saturday morning and crossed from the parking garage (Parking Lot C) that gives 2 hours for free. Street parking is also available and much closer but you need to pay the street meters with quarters. When I came in, I was surprised at the sheer size of the gym, with it having a downstairs level as well. Bathrooms and locker rooms were located downstairs. The AC was on when I came, but with any gym, you do heat up from working out and the downstairs level got fairly warm as I went on with my workout. Overall, the machines are new and fairly clean and I want to note that the facility was clean and well-maintained, especially for a 24-hour open gym!! I think the diversity of the equipment was fair and I'm glad there were barbells and open weights on both the top and bottom floors. Had a great workout here, I recommend this gym! read more

I checked out Planet Fitness for a day to see what it was like. I'll start with the positives: cleanliness is a solid 10/10. The gym was very clean, well-maintained, and the staff at the front desk were polite and helpful. Customer service was good. That said, the overall environment felt very dull. There wasn't much energy in the space, and it honestly felt more like a gym geared toward an older crowd or people who just want to quietly get in and get out. If you're used to gyms like Equinox or Gold's, where there's more motivation, intensity, and yes some visual inspiration this may feel underwhelming. There wasn't much "eye candy," and the vibe is definitely low key, no-frills, no distractions. If your goal is to work out without social energy, hype, or stimulation, Planet Fitness gets the job done. If you feed off atmosphere, music, and an energetic crowd, this probably isn't your place. Bottom line: Great for clean, simple, judgment free workouts. Not ideal if you're looking for energy, motivation, or a lively gym culture. read more

Omg this gym feels suffocating, musty, dusty absolutely no air flow. As soon as you walk in you can smell the stench of dirty socks with dirty drawls in your face ! Will you please do something about the airflow in this place . And if possible get some air freshener around the gym. I do understand that some smells can be uncontrollable but if you care about your customers I am suggesting some sort of plug ins or something I beg you! Listen....You have to set your expectations before you walk into a place. I have belonged to super high end gyms in the past, but at the end of the day what are you looking for???? ..... a clean, not overly busy, safe, and well equipped gym. If you are looking for beautiful people and to be pampered, it's not that type of place (myself included) Can you pop in for a quick workout and get in shape?.....yup!!!!!! I've been to the crunch fitness off of Long beach blvd, the Eos fitness in the outlets, and read reviews for 24-hour fitness that was enough to not make me ever want to go. But this planet fitness is by farrrr the best gym in the downtown long beach area. Never too crowded and if so, there's plenty of space. The people are nice and everyone minds their business. The only thing is that the smith machines are always taken so you have to wait. Just sign up with them. There the cheapest and best option in the area. read more

Recently started going here and it's one of the cleanest PF I have seen. It's never so crowded you can't find a machine to work on but of course if you go off peak the whole gym is your oyster. There are two levels in the gym and plenty of machines. read more

On my drive here, I was deciding between joining the gym three blocks away from my house for $92 a month, or driving 13 minutes to PF which costs $15 or $25 a month. I was leaning towards the cheaper option at PF unless it was terrible. However, this location isn't participating in the free day pass program advertised on the website and wanted to charge me $20. Given PF's reputation as one of the worst gym chains, this made the decision to pay a bit extra for a higher-quality gym a whole lot easier. read more

I'm giving this a "0", although, the machines are new and everything is kept up to Planet Fitness standard EXCEPT they don't run the A/C. This is the first PF I've been to where they don't run the AC or it's barely working. It felt humid and you can smell each other in some instances. That's crazy. When you own a gym you run the AC and filter the air. This place could've got a 4 maybe 5, but they definitely need to work on their gym etiquette, like when you own a gym RUN the AC and air filter system. SMH. read more

It's not too bad. Not too crowded when I am there, everyone minding their business trying to get their work out in, and parking is a breeze. There's always that 1% though... that do NOT wipe down the equipment when they're done! Also, are the Massage Chairs taken care of properly? The #9 chair was broken, and I PRAY that there aren't any "critters" lurking within!!! Music is annoying, but I listen to my own. One thing that really bothered me is... why did the staff feel a need to take my photo? More importantly, why did I AGREE to having my photo taken?? What is it's purpose? And one more thing... when is someone going to get that leak in the ceiling fixed??? First time I've ever been to a Planet Fitness. Very clean locker room, barely any people there (Sunday late afternoon) and the staff was friendly. Being that it's 2 stories, you can get away with some light grunting and dropping of weights (due to lifting to failure, not slamming them down) if you're downstairs, since the front desk is located upstairs I can only cap it at 3 stars because I find it very weird that such a gym -- a popular one at that -- exists without a single barbell in sight, all while having dozens of treadmills and bikes. I was able to get a great workout in regardless because I've learned to adjust and improvise through experience, but many will not have that ability if that's how they start out and become conditioned to working out without a barbell. The progress can only go so far without barbells The 3 star rating doesn't reflect the individual location per se, more towards the company as a whole. But if you already have a PF membership, I recommend this location for y'all!! read more

This is possibly my 14th Planet Fitness in 3-4 states that I've visited and my first PF in place of an older gym (Gold's Gym). Fresh (new- like two weeks maybe), clean, updated equipment and nice staff. Lots of room over two floors. I like the personal TVs on the running/elliptical equipment rather than huge screens hanging down from the ceilings. Feels like a good focus for the gym. I'm a fan. read more

I live five minutes walking distance from this location and love coming here to workout. The gym is clean and they do a good job keeping up with it. I usually go after 11AM when I grab a chance and never experience it to be too crowded. Yes it is true some equipment is used much more than others but I work well around that. For those who have to drive to the gym they have multiple garages in the area with free two hour parking, which is more than enough of time for you to do ur workout. The only reason this location didn't get a five star review is duo to rudeness of one specific staff member Xochiti (if I spelled that right). So young and so much rudeness she expressed towards me multiple times. She was reported to the managers as I did request from them to keep her away from me. I go to the gym to do my workout, stay fit and healthy and get myself distress from work, not to be additional stressed as she was doing so good. The rest of the staff is friendly and some even go beyond being nice and kind which I appreciate much. On the end customer service must be provided in order to maintain any type of business. read more

i attempted to cancel in september of 2025 over the phone (which i can provide a copy of phone records for) and you guys went ahead and told me my membership was cancelled. come to find out in December i see you guys have still been charging me every month. so i sent an email through the planet fitness app to request cancellation and refund from the previous months, no response. mind you, i have not visited planet fitness since july 2025. i see you guys charged me once again for the annual fee. so i again, call planet fitness to cancel my membership and refund me, the man on the phone proceeds to tell me that you guys DONT do over the phone phone cancelations.... all of a sudden. and that i have to go in person. however the reason i cancelled is because i no longer have my car and planet fitness is not close to my new address, so i have no way to go in person. as soon as i mention that i will be contacting my bank, the guy conveniently says he'll cancel the membership for me over the phone but i can't get refunded. this is ridiculous and your guys' practice is very deceptive considering how difficult you have made my multiple attempts to cancel my membership. i will be leaving a poor review and proceed to contact my bank to reverse all of the fraudulent charges. read more

As a person with anxiety I appreciate that this location is open overnight. I especially love the close proximity of public transit. The overnight crew is a delight & very helpful for all my fitness needs. I especially appreciate the way they handle the homeless population in the area. Definitely recommend if one is looking for a home club to choose the Downtown Long Beach location. I actually switched this to my home club as soon as I was able to. Come here nightly. read more

As most new gyms, it's great! This planet fitness is bigger then most I've seen (Huntington Park, South Central, Pasadena) with 2 stories, tons of equipment, and super friendly staff. There's street parking most of the time within a 2 block radius, but there are 2 parking structures with free 2 hour parking a block away. They have more machines then most PFs and due to its size it doesn't feel super crowded. Overall, love this new location! read more

He attempted to intimate me in front my guest mind you this is the only one that I had this experience with. Aggressively approaching me in the massage chair room telling me he is warning me that the massage chairs are only for members. I've been going to this gym since it opened and I honestly really enjoy it! The staff is always friendly and they are always cleaning! From personal experience, the gym is usually empty before 11am and busy anytime after. I'm always able to use any machine I want if I come early but if I come in the afternoon I usually have to work around the rush. My only complaint would be that I wish they had more of a variety in machines but nonetheless, if you're looking for an affordable gym membership this is it! read more
