Took my 16 month old to childcare here for the first time. I just tried 30 minutes to see how she would do. There were 2 workers and 4 kids. 2 were older kids and the other was probably around 2, so all mobile kids and fairly easy. When I picked her up I asked how she did and they said great, she just followed us around the whole time and didn't cry. Well except when she fell backwards off a broken table and hit her head on the tile I did not receive a single notification about this and it didn't seem like they were going to tell me had I not asked. Why a broken table was allowed to remain accessible is beyond me. And why they let my baby climb up it is also unbelievable. Absolutely unacceptable that I was not informed immediately when a head injury happened. I don't understand why there is tile in the kids area. And I don't like that there's not monitors in the gym that show the childcare area, especially after this incident read more

Every time I come there is a problem with the Pool. It is never open and when I attempt to get information the woman at the front desk is always terribly rude. I think she is the manager. How they allow someone like that to interact with customers is beyond me. The place is also filthy. We have had our membership for about 2 years now. My husband's debit card and credit card were compromised and the bank canceled them and said to allow 10 business days to receive a new card. We use a small credit union out of state, so we have to wait to receive the actual card and then update our accounts. Our account with the gym went past due. We told them and they said they would not the system and we could call and update payment once the card was received. We have received daily calls each morning asking for the updated card. I work nights and am being woke up after only 3 hours of sleep. The first couple days we again explained. Now it is to the point of harassment. We haven't even been to the gym in over a year. We pay and say, we will go soon. It's not likely we are using services we haven't paid for or are over a month past due. We are days past due because of card fraud. My family and I are in town just a couple nights. My teens were dying to play some indoor basketball and we found this LA Fitness 10 min away from our AirBnb. The place was huge, very clean, lots of machines, not too many people, and friendly staff. We hung out for 90 min to get the basketball fix and I got more of a workout than I hoped for a weekend getaway. We'd definitely come again. The only thing that threw me off was the view of the pool immediately when walking in. I wasn't there to swim but if I was I probably would've changed my mind. read more

This place is located on the NE corner of Baseline and Signal Butte at Superstition Gateway West. It is Mesa but it is East of Loop 202 toward Apache Junction. I do not know if it is ever crowded but it helps to have one out at this location because the next closest one is a decent distance away. My wife and I decided that we would give LA Fitness a try since they have an indoor heated pool and jacuzzi. She needs both for her disability. I must say, I was underwhelmed when we first toured the place, 3 weeks ago. Several things made me wonder about the quality, but based on my wife's needs I went ahead and agreed with her signing up. I held back though. They gave me a 30 day trial pass to give me a chance to see if it would work for me. The things that bothered me were - lack of evidence of disinfecting the equipment. I have not once in my 3 weeks of visits seen anyone cleaning the equipment, the floor, the showers, the sinks, the bathroom, the locker room, and I could go on. The place is not "dirty" but it is not clean either. The pool deck needs some scrubbing. The tiles are stained with mold or rust. Not sure which, but it makes me think it is not cleaned as often as they said (nightly). The showers tile is equally not clean. I wear flip-flops to avoid athlete's foot. My wife complained that the drink machines have been broken for at least the last 3 weeks. Who knows how long. If you come here, be sure to bring your own cold drink. The staff that we have interacted with have been helpful and pleasant. It is clear that they are more focused on other things - probably selling memberships. The pros: They have a great variety of equipment, weights, good size (25 Meter 4 lane) indoor pool, Sauna, Hot Tub, showers, etc. The cons: Does not feel clean, staff's attention does not seem focused on the current guests, drink machine waiting for service for weeks, no evidence of disinfecting equipment. read more

I cancelled my personal training membership after almost three years. LA Fitness fired the first two trainers with whom I had a good rapport, Crystal and Amanda. The next two trainers were probably great for others, but they did not listen to or remember either my goals or medical diagnosis, a hiatal hernia. I said I could not have my chest below my lower body. Both of them asked me to use machines that did just that. I finally decided to cancel, but to keep my $50 monthly gym membership. Gavin informed me on the phone that I had 30 days from cancellation to use my sessions. That is what I had been told by previous reps when I asked too. The new trainer, Joe, was awesome. He listened, took notes, and tailored the workout for my goals. I decided to talk to the sales rep, Gavin, and he gave me options to re-sign up. They could not put me back on my same previous plan, I said I understood and no thank you and that I would just use my remaining sessions. He said maybe the manager, Kristy, could have some options. I said okay I would hear her out. She phoned in and said the same thing. I once again, politely said that I will use my remaining sessions. That is when the lack of respect and customer service astonished me. Kristy said "your sessions expired yesterday." I said, no, I was told I had 30 days from cancellation. She said, "it's 30 days from the last payment for a session." I said, that is not what I was told. She asked Gavin to check in the system and see the expiration date. Gavin honestly replied "it says until the 28th" obviously of March. Kristy angrily replied "of this month?! No, check when the last payment was." That was February 5 (which was not even 30 days ago yet). So, either way you count, she lied. She then says "well, you might have two or three days left but they're expiring." That's when she said "I can offer you to keep those sessions if you sign up for the 9-month contract at $250/month." The lack of integrity and lack of honesty was mind-boggling. I said, no I will not re-sign up. She said "okay, bye" and hung up. I felt bad for Gavin and Joe who were sitting there. They saw that I had until 3/28/2026 but could not override Kristy, the manager who had just lied to my face and who blatantly contradicted Gavin who said "it says until the 28th" of March. I cancelled my gym membership pending any offer of a resolution from LA Fitness. The only resolution I requested in my complaint filed online was to have my remaining days (about 20 days) not counting the days prior to a resolution. read more

It had become a very frustrating situation. I explained the situation to Natalie and she immediately took action. Really unimpressed with this LA fitness. Over the years I've experienced a few locations between Tucson and Phoenix and this is by far the worst one. They don't have a huge cardio equipment section compared to other gyms in the area or even their other ones in the valley. Treadmills don't have their own TVs either which feels really dated, and when you arrive at opening sometimes they don't turn on the main TVs for 10-15 mins. I've also experienced treadmills that just don't seem to turn on or have severely slipping belts at a jog pace. The weight section is fine. It seems to be a fair amount of equipment at 5 am but not sure about during peak times how difficult it might be to get your sets in. Overall the equipment doesn't seem overly worn which is a plus. However my biggest issue is how gross the location is. I've seen bugs crawling across the floors, lockers that have clearly never been wiped out, and the floors are absolutely disgusting. There are stains and dust bunnies everywhere, especially upstairs in the cardio area. I've walked in at opening and seen drink bottles left near equipment for who knows how long. The grime is so obvious and everywhere you look. It speaks to how little care is put in to this location that I've seen all of these issues in about a month of attending the gym. The front desk also leaves much to be desired. Barely any acknowledgement when arriving or leaving, even when I greet them. I switched to LA fitness from planet fitness because I wanted access to a pool and spin equipment, but it's been a jarring experience compared to the customer service and cleanliness at my previous gym. An EOS location is going to open across the freeway eventually and I'm sure they'll lose plenty of members once they see a clean gym with plenty of updated equipment. read more

Management seems to have gotten the message about the out-of-control temperature regulator in the men's sauna. The sauna temperature has been whatever the user wants for months, from safe to full-on hot. Today, the sign next to the regulator cautioned against changing the temperature with a warning, "Don't Touch the Dial." Further notes said changes were coming. Sounds good, right? Not quite. It was scorching inside. Another man read the interior temp gauge and, with an expletive, said the gauge read 240 degrees! So much for taking control. This is an obvious example of why management must select a safe temperature for an infrared sauna. Some experts say this temp should range between 120 and 140 degrees. Management might also follow the example of the new Esporta Fitness, which is just up the street and puts the temperature control inside a locked box. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. I have been a member with LA Fitness for 16 years. I pay for the multi gym membership so that I can go to different locations where my favorite instructors teach. Every time I go to the signal butte location they have zero customer service. They identified a problem with my membership after two years of coming to that location. When we were trying to correct it, they tried to cancel my entire membership and charge me all of my initiation fees from scratch, hundreds of dollars. They also accused me several times of trying to get away with getting services that I wasn't entitled to. Even after repeatedly explaining I didn't know there was a problem and that I'm willing to fix it and pay more if necessary. I told them I've been coming there for two years I never knew there was a problem with my membership. To which they replied "well you've just been getting away with it." I'm sorry, but if your system is so poorly organized that you couldn't have identified a problem on my first visit and corrected it right away, that is not my fault. I also asked them why I was being charged double for kids club services than what my other friends are paying. To which they replied, "well you should have signed your kids up when you first joined that's the only way to get that deal". I did not have kids when I first joined. Their response: "Well there's nothing we can do for you now unless you want to cancel your membership and start all over." Again that would be hundreds of dollars in fees .....so I was left with the option to continue to pay twice what other people pay just because I've been going there longer and started before I had kids. After years of dealing with garbage like this I show up today and they have closed their kids club. I pay $30 a month for kids club just for the one or two visits a year when my kids are not in school (holidays and school closures). Their treatment of my children and myself telling us that we "need to leave" was shocking and completely uncalled for. So all of this, on top of the lack of communication over the whole quarantine time period (gym closure, reopening, instructors being assigned to teach a class they weren't informed of so therefore didn't show up), they could not be bothered to tell members what was going on and even instructors were not kept in the loop about what was happening with memberships and with classes. When you came to them with questions about what to expect they couldn't answer them. Today is just the final straw. When I asked to cancel my membership, because I'm tired of paying a ton of money for some thing that I can't even use, they wanted a reason. I told them it's hard enough to get my kids out of the house first thing in the morning and drive 45 minutes just to find out that their kids club is closed. And told them it would be nice if they had somehow pushed out a notification over the app so that this would not happen to members. They blamed me for not reading the sign posted on the door. I don't know if they are just dense, but I cannot read a sign posted on the door from my home. Zero customer service as a company, blaming the members for all their lack of communication and organization. It's Not just this location but this seems to be the one where I have the most problems. Do yourself a favor and join a different gym that has better customer service and is far more organized. read more

Pros: lots of equipment selection, generally clean, sauna is blazing hot, bathrooms are clean, basketball court is nice. Cons: creepy old men staring at your wife as she works at almost everyday. If I confronted each and every one I'd be in jail so I just ignore it but I wish staff would notice things like that. The basketball court is nice , BUT, La fitness does such a horrible job maintaining their basketballs. They are at least 10 years old and completely flat. I'm not sure if they had a theft problem before or what but for such a large company, Idk why they can't replace 5-6 basketballs once a year and keep them inflated. The staff doesn't really greet your as you leave/enter. They are usually having their own conversations and you just feel completely ignored. Truly poor customer service; cold and rude. An ordeal to accomplish a simple request.... I was a member during COVID, with limited services, classes and hours, still paying the same fees. I was understanding and sympathetic of the limits and issues the club faced during this time, and I kind of expected the same kind of courtesy from club customer service, if I ever needed it. Not at this location..... I had surgery several weeks ago, and can't walk for at least three months. I have been calling the Signal Butte location I currently attend multiple times, ever since, asking to freeze my membership until I can use it. I was told that I needed to speak to the customer service manager, Cheyenne, and asked to have her call me, each time. I called today, and finally caught her in the club. I told her I had been trying to reach her, and let her know that I had hoped to receive a callback. She stated that she had called me 'quite a few' times, but my phone did not allow her to leave a message. I have received multiple calls and messages, daily, from others, and my incoming phone log does not show any calls from that location. I receive multiple texts each year, when it is time to pay my annual fee, but I did not receive a text, either . I set that aside, and explained my injury, and that I would like to freeze my membership until I can use it. Having already lost several weeks, waiting for the calls she said she attempted, I was dismayed that she insisted I would have to pay $35 to freeze my membership. ( The lost time waiting for her return call already cost me more than that...) I asked if she would consider waiving that fee. She first said there was no way to do that. I explained to her that I am aware that the screen to freeze the membership has an option to waive the fee. She then said that she WOULD NOT waive it because she would have to "answer to everybody for it", and she could see in my contract that it did not say that I could have a freeze without a fee . (I've been told verbally, multiple times, that I could, each year when I pay) I requested a copy of my membership agreement to review, as my original contract was in 2015. She said they do not do that. Honestly, for a non-essential service like a gym, I would expect, friendliness , sympathy and accommodation, instead of the stony and unapologetic rigidity that I received. I asked if there was anyone else I could speak with, and she said she was the top level of customer service management, () and that if I called the main customer service, they would all be at the same level as her. I told her that at least they might be nicer, so I would like to speak to someone else. Next, I called the club that I originally belonged to, explained my situation, and within minutes, the employee confirmed with management that the fee could be waived, and waived it for me. I will continue my membership, once I am able to walk, and after, because of that customer service. I hope that they do not have to " answer to everyone for it", as Cheyenne stated. Instead, I hope they are commended for treating a member with understanding , as though I am valued. And I do hope that Cheyenne can be empowered to offer courtesy, empathy and accommodation to customers who need it. Maybe one member is not very important to the corporation, but if she treats everyone like this, I am assuming one member is not all that is being lost. As a sidenote, I also belong to Planet Fitness. When I called them, explained my injury, and asked for a hold on my membership until I can walk, they did it immediately and cheerfully. I just got a call from these people after months of attempting to cancel my membership. They said they'd waive fees against me if I agreed to continue my membership. These people will not allow me to cancel my membership. They have an excuse why I can't or some new method I have to use to do it, which will conveniently not work. There is no cancellation fee listed anywhere, but they've claimed there is several times to try to get more money out of me instead of letting me cancel. It had been months of attempts and eventually I had to put a stop payment on my credit card and have my bank formally tell LA Fitness I did not want to do business with them. They've continued to attempt to bill me. These people are crooks. They have tried to steal from me. They will try to steal from you. Garbage human beings. Actual fucking garbage. My reason for cancelling was that I was paying over $400 a month for personal training that I was not receiving because they could not schedule a trainer. I had two great trainers for over a year, but then they gave me some new guy one time that gave me the weakest workout of my life and then was no longer able to see me. You may or may not be made aware of the initial sign up fee of 79.00 and asked to also pay first and last month of membership which is 40.00 for 2 people which works out to be 80.00 for first and last month. However you will be met 2 weeks later with another dare I say 2nd membership initiation fee which is 59.00 per person. So to be clear there is an INITIATION FEE which is you paying 79.00 for your rep to run your credit card and sign your name on the digitial pad. But then again you are paying a 2nd time for your Annual fee which you will be required to pay each year. If they were straightforward with this billing you would simply pay the entire INITIATION (TIP FEE) lets call it what it is now. , plus your annual membership and first and last month right there in one sitting. But they skirt the annual memebership fee under the rug so that you conclude that the initiation fee is the annual fee. Its two weeks later you find you are being charged a 2nd annual fee on your credit card when you realize the grift. Its a seedy tactict inwhich you essentially pay these guys free money to join the gym of which you will then pay more fees in the form of an annual membership fee along with your monthly dues. Id rather give 79.00 to a homeless person who needs the money than to throw my money away on a seedy grift. Our money in the form of 1 annual membership fee plus monthly fee is ENOUGH. There is no reason in the world to be charged twice to join a gym. I do realize that there are people who earn a living doing shady dealings like this and thats fine. However I want those considering this place to be aware that you will be gouged for 79.00 for essentially nothing. The INITIATION FEE IS NOT YOUR ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP FEE. It is merely charity you are throwing away to your signup agent while agreeing to join there gym. I never heard of having to pay a sign-up fee on top of an annual membership fee combined with a monthly fee. So be aware as Im sure every agent at this facility employs the same seedy tactic. If they were forthcoming, the majority of patrons would be asking why they have to pay 2 signup fees which would result in customers walking away to explore other value propositions. Hello, I just visited for the first time your facility on Signal butte Rd. in Mesa Az., after the renovation. I will not return there again, I've been going to the facility on Greenfield Rd. until I can find a different gym closer to me. They have removed over half of all the machines at Signal Butte especially the arm machines. Many of the people that go there are in their 40-60's and you have designed them right out of your gym, so I hope you get a lot of new members from this new design, I have a feeling your going to need them! I have been with LA Fitness for years and would have stayed for years to come, but your new configuration has eliminated me as a patron. I go to the LA Fitness on Power and Mckellips. I swim 3 times a week starting at 6:30 or 7AM. This one is a bit older and has 2 outdoor doors in the pool area, 2 times per month one of these doors is propped open for a minimum of 45 minutes while paper goods are loaded into the pool area destined for a closet on the other side of the pool. I have asked twice in the year that I have been going for the door to be closed rather than standing open as in the winter time, even in Arizona, that early in the morning a winter breeze blows through that door and makes my swim very uncomfortable. Both times I was told in the rudest way possible that the door "will not be closed". Without any intimate knowledge of how the club is run I thought of 4 different ways that a customers desire to be comfortable in the pool could be accommodated, the door remain useable, and the task and swim both be completed but when I went to management they did not seem to care at all. Thus I will have to go to a different club to get relief from the cold. Sad when ease of employees desires trump customer satisfaction and service. read more

I'm giving a two star rating. The equipment is good and the gym is clean that is the reason for the extra star. The complete lack of integrity is the reason for the bad rating though. My wife signed up with a friend. Her friend moved so my wife switched gyms to Planet Fitness so she could go with me. When she canceled her membership they told her they canceled it. They did not. I got billed $60 the next month. Her membership was only supposed to be $30. I went to the gym with her and requested they cancel and refund us the money. They told me there was no-one there who could cancel it. Of course.... I called the next day and talked to the manager. After an hour and about three more phone calls they canceled the membership and told me I would get a refund. I did get the refund. The next month... Got billed again for $60. The long and short of it all is that I literally had to contact my bank to stop payments to LA Fitness. In the end... Just bit worth the hassle, and I'd rather give my money to a company with a bit of integrity. read more

A disaster, you do not know if this is LA Fitness or Esporta, or LA Esorta, or LA Esporta, everybody mentions the two entities, one bought the other or both bought a third, nobody knows for sure. I was one of the first clients to sign up as soon as the gyms started to open their doors during the pandemic. I signed up online at LAFitness.com, simply signed up, no rocket science there. And I have been going to every gym wherever I end up in the Phoenix metro area, no one ever questioned anything! Until the day that three poorly trained, very young girls stopped me, sort of being stopped on the highway if you do 100 miles per hour. The penalties and infractions they starting blurting were incredible, attempting trespassing, fines, penalties, they really got interested in breaking my day. As I was paying the yearly maintenance dues, I said, let me finish my workout and I will be back to talk to a manager, (no managers on the weekend). One of the girls started looking for me and as soon as she found me, she explained that it would be better for me to pay the penalties, otherwise I would be thrown out of the gym. The employees are extremely rude. Me and friend have been coming here for the past couple months and just recently we had the most awful interaction with an employee. The people typically are usually very welcoming and kind however, this lady was not. She was not understanding of my friend at all and was very persistent and rude towards us. We were simply confused and asking questions, but she replied very poorly with attitude and aggression. I have a been a member for YEARS including personal training. I went to work out and my fourteen old daughter was with me and wanted to work out too. I asked the front desk if we could get a pass for her to try it out. We were told the only way she could work out was to pay $15.00. They would not give us a pass for her to try it. Unbelievable, given i have been a member for such a long time. A new Mountainside Fitness is opening by my house and I was on the fence about changing. With such poor customer service at LA Fitness, they made my decision really easy. I cancelled my membership and personal training and signed up at Mountainside.
