I've been a member of LA fitness for about a year now. I enjoy the membership package that I currently have because it lets me go to any LA Fitness in the US outside of just my home gym (Covington Highway). That package is especially useful because I travel frequently for work and LA Fitness has been the only gym chain that remains consistent with the amenities that it offers across the majority of its locations. It also allows me to now feel like I have no excuse to miss a workout no matter my location. This particular LA Fitness in Stone Mountain has EASILY become my favorite. So much so that I pass five other more convenient LA Fitness' leaving work downtown just to get to this one. (Atlantic Station, 5th St, Church St. Piedmont & even my home location, Covington Hwy haha). No knock to any of those locations AT ALL, because i still visit from time to time and the machines don't necessarily differ, but Stone Mountain has my heart for a couple of reasons: My number 1 reason the smoothie station. The husband and wife that operate the kiosk here are two of my favorite people in the world. They are extremely personable and really make me feel like family. They greet me by name and already know what I'm going to order before I even say anything. We have genuine convo throughout the whole smoothie making process and have even looked out for me on a couple of occasions with a free smoothie. The amazing thing is, they are this personable with ALL of their customers. I feel like I'm cheating on them if i go anywhere else. Also, they learn your tendencies and when you're ready for your smoothie. If i get in later than usual prior to closing, they encourage me to go ahead and work out and bring me my smoothie to the floor while I'm lifting when they know I'm at the halfway mark of my workout. These two are amazing. Also, I thoroughly enjoy how they aren't always crowded and the amounting machines they own. It's sometimes harder to workout at other locations (especially Mondays right after work) because every machine and room is overwhelmingly crowded. I've never had that issue here and I love that. Lastly, their cycling room is pretty cool. It's auditorium style which i feel is pretty cool, unique and fun. Overall this has been my favorite LA Fitness for a while and I'm always excited to come back. read more

AlthoughI love the Stone Mountain LA fitness location, I am very disappointed in the lack of control in their pool and spa area. There are people constantly jumping in the hot tub and pool with their UNDERWEAR ON! I'm am sure they are coming from their workout. This is completely unsanitary and I'm sure against health department guidelines. The LA fitness in Norhtlake has a BIG sign. Please police this. I'm considering calling the health department. The front desk has been repeatedly made aware. Showers are also dirty and have lots of mold. YUK! read more

They allow their "members" to "take home" dumbells which are never returned leaving most dumbbell racks half empty. This makes it seem as if the management does not care about its members or equipment that some of us "pay" to enjoy. Just sad and disappointing. read more

I mean it's LA Fitness which is no frills but I seriously only come to this location out of convenience. It's not horrible but not the best... just eh. The gym itself is relatively clean but it's the little nuisances that make the experience less than desirable. The weights are never racked. I've been in the morning, lunchtime, and during the after work rush. And either time, none of the weights are racked so you spend lots of time hunting down the weights that you need. I've also noticed that once a machine is up for service, it will sit like that for weeks. Seems like there is no urgency for upkeep. On the positive I will say that I do see the cleaning crew regularly walking around disinfecting the machines which is appreciated since we are still in a global pandemic. read more

Based on the reviews, it looks like this place was doing better a year or two ago, because it's definitely pretty gnarly now. I joined LA from Lifetime Fitness because $30/month was much easier to pay than $80, so I was ready for some differences and came with an open mind. After coming here regularly for about a year now, I can say it definitely has a lot to be desired. 1. Machines- They are okay. I will say they have a fairly wide variety of cardio machines which is nice. The free weights area is a bit crowded and they could use another studio/stretching room for those of us not interested in the group classes. One thing I find obnoxious is the TV attached to all of the treadmills. I've been to other LA's and not all of them have the mandatory TV. The issue with the TV is even if you don't watch it (which I don't for forthcoming reasons), it completely blocks your view of seeing ahead of you. This causes imbalance and is just annoying in general. If you plan on watching TV, have fun with that. There's about 5 channels, 4 of them which repeatedly remind you that you are not connected to HD (yes we know, this is LA not Lifetime), or just intermittently lose signal. 2. Temperature- This place can't seem to regulate the temperature.If it is humid and hot outside, get ready for it to feel the same way inside as well. This mostly happens when it's a warmer than usual day outside during the winter. Heat is still on, which makes for a miserably steamy workout. 3. Cleanliness- Honestly the clientele is 90% the problem on this one. People just don't care. Numerous times, I've been on a machine and the person next to me has wiped it down for themselves, and then literally thrown their paper towel on the ground. The poor cleaning crew doesn't stand a chance with that kind of behavior. Showers and bathrooms are pretty nasty, maybe if you're a guy and can just get in and out, you'll be fine to shower, but I don't see many women venturing in. Lots of hair, overflowing toilets, general nastiness. Overall- if you're just here to get on a machine, pick up a few weights and get out, this is the place for you. If you're looking to feel comfortable showering, getting ready for work, etc after your workout, you may want to go to a nicer gym. You get what you pay for, and Stone Mountain LA Fitness is the definition of that. read more

So I joined LA only because there are no Golds Gym's around my location. With that being said, my initial thoughts of LA fitness were positive...they still are. However, I personally think this gym is way overpriced, especially since their equipment are just average. I don't like the weekend hours. They open at 8:00am on Saturdays and Sundays. I like to get in and get out of the gym early, however, 8 is not too bad. Now, this particular location in Stone Mountain is cool. The bathrooms are clean (most days) and the equipment works. I miss a lot of the machines that Gold's have, but I have to work with what this gym offers. read more

HUEMANLIFE | Pretty average run of the mill gym. Not one of my favorite LAF's in Atlanta. With this chain you have to just try out different locations and decide which ones give you the most bang for your buck in terms of equipment and clientele. Some locations have a different equipment that target certain areas that others don't have which makes them unique. There was nothing unique here. when working out being around an inspiring crowd makes a huge difference as well. Maybe I visited at the wrong time, but it wasn't a the most motivating atmosphere at all. Maintenance-wise, they all seem to need a bit more upkeep than they currently have. This location is no exception. It had a slightly-off putting smell too. I wasn't motivated enough to try the pool or the sauna. This one just didn't hit the mark. When I saw this location had higher ratings than the others and it was convenient, I was so excited, but highly disappointed after visiting. read more

The location is becoming a COVID super spreader destination. The basketball court stays packed and the employees say/do NOTHING about it. Also the staff at the smoothie shop do not wear masks, which is funny as they're promoting health and wellness. We have to do better in lowering the spread while getting fit & healthy. read more

I have been a member at la fitness for 1 yr and i only worked out two times because no one took the time out to help me. i went to la fitness on Tuesday morning and i met Michael. he added more life on to life.he gave me the confidence that i can do it and i needed that to help me. he taught me on how to eat right and my that my health should be more important to me. he is so patient to senior clients . i am so glad that i met Michael! For the month of July, this establishment has been anything but good. The workers don't show up on time to open the gym at 5AM. This is by far my favorite location! From my first interactions with Trin who assessed my needs, and introduced me to the most conscientious trainer, Jessica, my experience has been AWESOME!!! I'm much more fit and dropping inches like crazy!! The whole team is knowledgeable and personable and works together to provide support to my additional workouts. So, if I have a question about how to exact a particular exercise or about the complexities of diet and eating the right foods, any member of the team can help! Also, I'm not deserted when I'm not in training! In fact, Jessica makes herself available and is only a text away if she's not in the gym to assist. This is invaluable to me when I'm in the gym on Saturday and Sunday evenings. Finally, "Super Saturdays" are the BOMB.COM!! I really give his place between three and four stars. The British spin instructor is great. Very high energy and motivating. The place is consistent with other la fitness with the number of equipment and types (cardio, weight lifting): I've come here during peak times and still been able to get into all the classes or use the cardio machines! The only draw backs are:..(1) the cleanliness...the clientele don't seem to be very respectful of wiping down machines and (2) the selection of tv channels is really basic (about 10 channels - espn, CNN, Fox News, MSNBC, local, hgtv) Pros: Always able to jump into a class or use equipment even during the evening rush The spin instructors are fun and motivating Cons: Channel choices are minimal Cleanliness is concerning...most people don't wipe down their equipment so some equipment is a little stick :/ read more

Been to several LA fitnesses in Georgia and Florida and this one is just average. Semi friendly welcoming staff, water fountains are room temperature, bathrooms are usually not clean, but the members who coming here are semi respectful and the gym isn't to small or to big which is only reason I'm giving it 3 stars. I have been going to LA fitness for about 7 months. Prior to that I mainly walked for exercise, and before that, I used the clubs for step classes. I use the machines, take yoga classes, and have a personal trainer. I'm an older female who wants to stay flexible and as fit as possible as I age. I've been most impressed by the friendliness of the employees. Everyone, including the managers, the trainers, and the 11:00 yoga instructor, is friendly. Today my instructor was Amber. She had everything ready for our work out, and she pushed me just the right amount. She gauges her instruction to each person's ability. Her manager, Michael, enrolled me when I first came in, and he's as nice a guy as you can find! Yoga is very comfortable because the 11 o'clock instructor wants everyone to work at his/her level. Her goal for us is flexibility. This is a great place for the beginner or the experienced. I urge all the older folks to come on in and live a better life. This location used to be my favorite but the last few times I've been, it has been pretty messy. Bathrooms not kept up (no toilet paper, no paper towels, unflushed toilets), empty water bottles on the ground, etc. The staff members are pretty nice though and I hardly ever have to wait for equipment. read more

Do not sign up for personal training. Personal training at this location is subpar. The trainers act like they hate their job. They text and make personal calls during your sessions. I wasted over a $1k that I can not get back. Staff here is soo pushy with sales you would think you are at a car dealership! Staff will literally argue you down if you say you are not interested in enrolling in personal training. read more

For me, customer service or member treatment motivates me to remain a member or refer my friends and family. I must say that the new manager, Alice, is absolutely wonderful; I was extremely disappointed prior to meeting her and planned to cancel my membership. She goes the extra mile to bring value to La Fitness members, explains the features of the membership, and talked to my entire family. I never write reviews, but this outstanding treatment touched my heart and I was compelled to do so. I would encourage anyone to consider this gym and join. It's clean, plenty of cleaning products all over the place (important to my wife who is a physician & my guest visiting from Jamaica), all the equipment is in great condition ("no need service labels all over the place") and plenty of great options for everybody to enjoy. Great place to workout and equipment is in great shape. The trainers are also awesome. Jessica has helped me lose over 25 pounds while helping me get stronger at the same time, Amber has shown me how to do a couple exercises as well and Will always helping out where he can wether it's suggesting another way to do a workout or just motivating you to push through. The rest of the staff as well are also very friendly, aside from the white haired lady who is very rude but I usually avoid her. If by chance you bring your friends in as a guest pass to show them how great of a gym LA fitness is and they have to talk to her, don't give her their real email or phone number because she will harass you to the point where your friends won't want to join. Seriously, I have brought in plenty of people as a guest and every single one of them complained about her. The last one even said she called them at numerous times in a row while they were at work. One person is not worth avoiding this gym when everyone else is so friendly and down to earth. I'actually live closer to the snellville location but don't enjoy going there. I thought after 20 years of wrestling with my weight, being in and out of gyms, and trying to eat properly, I thought I had knowledge. I came in yesterday for my free fitness assessment with Trin. We sat down and talked about my current status as well as my goals. He made me comfortable and talking about my weaknesses as well as my strength. I was visiting in from Texas and went in with some family. I applied for a pass online so I could spend some extra time at the gym with family in the area who have memberships. The staff was super friendly and welcoming. The gym was well kept and there was plenty of equipment. After one of the gym staff (Darian)called to ask how everything was even though he knew I didnt live in the area. Real nice guy great customer service!!! read more

I visit here often This gym is always clean and well kept and they always have great classes that are consistent with the schedule; which is apart of the reason I enjoyed going to workout there to begin with. Wide variety of workout equipment. My membership allows me to go to any location which is a plus. Great staff even the new GM Marques S. always seems pleasant and is very respectful to others as well as helpful. Another person that is very helpful is the young lady whose at the desk Yolanda she always lends a hand when asked. Having people like that working there makes it an even more pleasant experience and I will definitely invite friends and family to try this gym. I joined LA Fitness after I retired because I desperately needed help to get in shape. I decided to hire a trainer because I feared I wouldn't stick with going unless someone was expecting me to show up. I lucked into getting Will Freeman as my trainer and love going to my sessions. He customizes my workouts because I have certain limitations and researches exercises to help me work in the areas that need it. He gives me feedback and positive reinforcement. Will is the consummate professional and I look forward to continue working out with this great trainer. Easy access to US 78, plenty of parking. This location is clean and all of the equipment that I use, cardio and weights are always in order. They also have a pool and basketball court. I always go in the morning in the 6-7 o'clock hour and it's not crowded. Locker room and restroom facilities are always clean so it is a good environment. read more

Been a member for almost a year & I really enjoy going here. I tend to prefer the less busy hours (crack of dawn weekdays & noonish on weekends) so it rarely crowded when I'm there. It's really just your basic gym, nothing special but just what you need. It's clean, the staff is friendly & they offer enough classes to keep your attention. I tend to be a treadmill kinda girl but I have tortured myself with Zumba & it was fun. I just will stick to the cardio machines since I live in a constant rhythmless state. My favorite thing about this particular gym is the Wi-Fi! I can watch Netflix while I walk endless minutes on the treadmill. It helps make the time go buy & it satisfies the couch potato in me. After you burn some calories, you can grab a smoothie from the juice bar! I've had a few & they're tasty! When it's slow, they walk around with samples for you to try! Yippie! read more

I'm finding that this club has started using some kind of strong soap in their dispenser that smells like lie or something Make me start bringing my own self because I'm afraid of what is this strong smelling soap that they're using. I am not one to write bad reviews, but I would really hate to see someone else in the same predicament as myself. I went into this LA Fitness last January. I had just recently given birth and was looking to lose the remainder of the weight I gained during pregnancy. I spoke to the Manager and explained everything about my life to him. I explained that I was a single mother, working full-time, and also in school full-time. The reason why LA Fitness originally appealed to me was the child care. After speaking with him, he set me up with Dorothy, a personal trainer. I also told her the same thing, that I was just wanting to work with someone for A LITTLE bit, in order to know what I should do when I go on my own. I went for a couple months and was pleased with the place. They seemed to genuinely care. When i signed my contract, i was under the impression that I was paying my first and LAST month so that I could stop personal training at any time and have the last month paid. However, a few months after signing, I lost my job. I called to cancel personal training and was told that I had signed a one year contract and could not cancel unless I paid half of the remainder. Granted, I should have read over the contract thoroughly, Dorothy and the manager should have NEVER suggested a one year contract to me after I had just explained my situation to BOTH of them and told them I was only wanting to do it for a few months. Needless to say, I am very displeased with the way they do business. They sit there and act like they truly care, but at the end of the day it's just the sales that matter to them. Now I wonder why i ever thought that LA fitness was a good idea when you can get a membership somewhere like fitness 19 and only pay $9 a month! Not to mention, I was literally in tears while speaking to them because there was no way I could afford to keep paying, and they showed no gratitude for my situation and did absolutely nothing to help me out. read more

The new operations manager, Felicia, has been working to clean the place up. Great club if it's clean. Prior to Felicia taking over, the ladies restrooms were pretty grungy and the club was lacking a competent cleaning staff.
