I have been going to this gym for a while and I am always so excited and welcomed to be here. The staff is always so welcoming and hard working in this gym. Danny the manager is super sweet and attentive as well. The bathroom and sauna is always super clean and I feel like I am in a spa retreat. I have been a member of LA Fitness for over 20 years, and 15 of those years have been able this location. I think in general, this is a good chain and this location is definitely pretty good and satisfactory, at least for my needs. It has free weights, cardio machines, a nice pool, jacuzzi, steam room, locker room with showers, and it is always clean and tidy. There are classes like spinning, yoga, Zumba, even aqua classes, but I have never participated in them. I have a tight schedule to keep. And of course, there are enough good looking people here to increase your heart rate naturally and give your neck a good exercise. read more

Upon entering the employee in the front greeted us and was very welcoming. I have been to several La fitness gym and I think this one is be far the cleanest and it has new equipment. Many of the la fitness have old equipment and equipment that are out of order but this one is not one of them. This La fitness has a sauna, Jacuzzi and an indoor pool. Worked out at this LA Fitness location several times. They have a good size free weight section and tons of machines specified for each muscle group. The gym is usually very clean and have staff on premise for assistance if requested. The only negative issue is the ladies sitting on one leg machine far too long taking selfies for social media purposes and not working out. You are not permitted to set up camera stands but its so frustrating. This does happen in most other gyms. Anyways, this is a good gym but you are going to pay a yearly premium to train here. Busy during peak evening hours. Very large parking lot. read more

If they had some new equipment, this location would be great. There is plenty of space to stretch on the turf but I do with the cleaning crew would clean and vacuum it once in a while. The cleaning crew has gotten better about wiping the sweat off the machines and weights. I don't usually do any classes, but they always seem busy. This location gets so much traffic as they are the only location in central Broward, I just wish they would put some money into making this gym more modern. read more

Older location so you should expect the typical things you find at older gyms being .. old equipment, old layout, less features, etc. that said it isn't bad and gets the job done... one strength is that they have a lot of dumbbells available in a wide range of weight. I've visited at many different times and aside from the 530pm to 8pm window its never crowded. The locker room while old has always been clean when I've gone... Parking is never really much of an issue. They don't have a high # of the same type of equip/station (i.e. more than two decline chest press or more than 2 cable rigs, etc) so u might have to wait or change the order of ur workout until the station is available... That aside, If you're not looking for all the bells and whistle and just want to get a good workout in with access to everything you will need... this location will do the job. read more

In a great location, plenty of parking, staff is nice. It is pretty clean and their sunday mat pilates class is amazing. There are usually enough machines, usually more crowded around 6-7 pm but never had to wait long for machines. Pool is reasonably clean. read more

Overall this L.A. Fitness location offers everything they are known for. A well orchestrated space where you can customize your workout however you feel. Additionally, there are a couple of amenities that set L.A. Fitness apart from your regular strip mall workout joint such as the indoor pool, jacuzzi, sauna, basketball court, etc. The staff, in my personal experience, is nice and approachable. They are not overly pushy, and are not the first ones to start conversations. They don't try to oversell you their trainers and/or workout regimens. They offer them, specially when signing up, but upon rejection, they just let you be, which is exactly what I want. This particular location has plenty of parking. It is located need a shopping plaza and the Sawgrass Mills Mall so there's definitely a lot of foot traffic. But you'll always find a parking spot whether close to the gym or at walking distance. It is conveniently located near several business that cater to healthy eating, which is a major plus when trying to stay true to your particular diet. My only complain would that some of the weights have been down, mainly because of customer negligence, (example: someone had stuck the pin of the incline press on two sluts at once - jamming it in the process). It took 'til the next day for the issue to be resolved. Such a simple thing should a addressed quickly and resolved right away. Overall, once again, I have enjoyed myself at this gym. The people are nice. They are mostly business types who mind their own business and focus on their personal workout. From time to time you do run into a friend or two, working out in groups and being jovial is not frowned upon either. Which is definitely a plus. read more

A good chunk of the equipment is broken, not to mention perpetually dirty; the sauna has been out of service for over a month; staff is inattentive and careless; and half of the people that come here are distasteful to say the least. It's not a bad place to get a good workout or do some cardio. Don't expect anything fancy. It's just enough to justify the membership. Don't come in during peak times. You'd be better off just jogging and doing push-ups on Sunrise than to try working out anytime after 5 on a weekday. Also, it seems management opens and closes this place whenever they feel like it, not caring about the supposed hours of operation. Lastly, don't do the "complimentary fitness assessment" they offer to new members. It's nothing but a sales pitch for expensive personal training. read more

General manager tried to tell me there was nothing he could do about refunding 2 personal fitness sessions that I never attended due to covid. He said he couldn't give me a refund. Spoke to him for about 15 minutes with him saying nothing he can do, clapping his hands to show he was "being patient with me". Finally I took out my phone to show him I had been calling the gym and corporate several times and no one answered. Then he magically gained the superpowers needed to refund ONE of my sessions when I showed him my call log after going back and forth for 15 minutes trying to get a refund for services I never used and not wanting to jump back to the gym since as an ER provider, I am on the frontline. Then tells me some bullshit he learned from his boring corporate meetings that " The burden of proof lies with me" Terrible and atrocious behavior - this means he could have refunded my 600 charged to my account during a pandemic when people are losing jobs and losing hours and social distancing to prevent the spread of a deadly virus but due to his character and poor morals he chose not to. I had to get the other refund from my bank without any issue. They then charged my account 699 2 months later and told me they could not find anything in their system after speaking in person with 3 people. My bank says it is definitely came from them so I had to open another claim to get that money back... Absolutely Gross and despicable behavior! read more

My go to gym. Slight lack of exercise equipment. Hard to find 10, 15 lb dumbbells. Overall a great gym.

My go to gym! Nice and spacious layout. First floor has the treadmill and ellipticals, personal training area is also there, a little smaller than most gyms. Full lengthy pool and bathrooms are also located on the first floor. Each bathroom has its own gender sauna and access to the pool. The basketball court is also on the first floor. No racquet ball courts tho. On the second floor is where all the weights are and machines. There's only one room for classes (yoga, cycling, Zumba) so the downside is where there's classes going on you can't really go in for private workout sessions. I came here today for the first time, after my home gym (Plantation LA Fitness) was damaged in the explosion. Apparently, a lot of others did the same. The staff here was welcoming, upbeat and excited to assist. It was a nice thing to experience after what occurred at my home gym. The facility was clean and well laid out. They honored my Plantation membership without question. Even through it's a bit far from where I live, I'm happy this will be my new gym for the time being. read more

Pretty much a scam trying to cancel a membership. I called at 4 pm to cancel my membership, since there's a pandemic and they're not even asking customers to wear masks while exercising. The online accounts are not working and every email link is broken. When I called they said I needed to come in in person, to which I said no, that's not happening, *there's a pandemic*. I asked to speak to the operations manager. He's with a customer. I say I'll hold. I wait on hold for about 10 minutes, then call again. Still with a customer. I'll hold. At 5:15 I'm still on hold so I hang up and call. Same person answers and says he has left for the day. I ask "so you're telling me he finished with his client and you didn't stop to tell him someone was on hold for him before he left?" She responded he had a lot of calls. I bet. So she watched him leave, didn't stop him, didn't take me off hold to tell me. I was literally left on hold with no plan to ever pick up. If I can't get through tomorrow I'll be calling the BBB and putting a hold on their charges through my bank. read more

I need mats to stretch and work my abs . Apparently the only ppl who get mats are "clients"- referring to trainers clients. I've been a client for 13 years and if that's not enough to qualify for basic gym needs then I guess I should go elsewhere. The primadonna LA trainer who give no sh*ts about anyone and hogs the entire mat area for one client knowing full well that I'm looking to share is well let's just say not nice or attentive to anyone's needs but her own. When do I get a discount for half the equipment and no mats? Covid or no Covid, enough already with the lack of service and equipment. So let me start by saying that it's not the staffs fault that I'm giving a 3 star review. It's the guest here. Most of the people who work out here do not know how to re-rack the weights. It's as if it's impossible to do but for most they just don't give a shit. They take 3-4 sets of dumbbells with them to corner. God forbid you ask if they are using them all and on top of that they leave the shit there in the corner for another member to pick it up or use it there and leave it right there. They should come up with a charge policy for when you do t re-rack but I know they won't as we are all prestige members but if we were the weights would not be an issue. Aside from that they need to add more cleaning wipes to wipe down the machines they are too scattered and not enough. On a positive note. I'm always greeted, staff is cool. Never have an issue with billing or anything like that. They have a lot of machines and weights so you can do any type of work out. read more

I'll preface this by saying that I know LA Fitness has a low standard recently and I've been to a few in the area, and this one is by far the worst. As many have said: the weights are a mess. They were all over the place. It made no sense that they could be so messy especially right before the after-work rush. Another common thing: this place is dirty. The locker rooms weren't bad but the bathrooms were gross. Almost every stall was dirty. One of the stall's walls were completely rusty. Very gross when you walk by and have to question what the brown substance is covering the entire stall...luckily (?) it was rust. I also hate the layout. Unlike most, this one has the cardio downstairs and the weights upstairs. It's right above the locker room which makes it sound like bombs hitting the ceiling from people dropping heavy weights. And I know this is a personal preference but the mats are right in front of the machines, which almost puts you on display for everyone while you are on there which makes me uncomfortable. There's also no mirror so you can't practice your form. The machines are oooold and rusty. They definitely need some upgrading. There was really just nothing redeeming about this location and I would definitely never return here. I ended up cutting my workout early so I could just get out of there. read more

They took away a lot of the machines to put in a personal training area. They went from rows of machines to just one or none of certain machines. The kicker is they have limited trainer options and most trainers are master trainers. so you have to pay extra money for an additional certification. I had a certified trainer. and they got promoted to master trainer. Nothing changed except that I had to pay more money if i wanted to keep the same trainer. the trainer didn't do anything different. It's a scam. also if you ever need to cancel. good luck getting your money back for sessions you already paid for. They will take your money and tell you sorry not sorry we did everything we were supposed to. If you can't use the sessions that's on you. And they will happily keep your money. read more

I truly love this gym. I've gone to a couple different la fitnesses in Chicago, Texas, and Ohio and this one is the best. It's always very clean, and the machines get repaired fairly quickly when they go down. I highly recommend this one! read more

No one reracks their weights, it's dirty, theres always tissues on the ground and they dont enforce mask use at all you can just walk in without a mask. on top of that the front desk is rude and the people that go are so distasteful... everyone expects the janitors to clean up after them. janitors are the only good workers there read more

Been coming here for over 10 years. Staff is always very nice, no complaints whatsoever about them. However, for the past several weeks half (3 out of 6) of the TVs in the cardio area are showing Fox News. I inquired about this and was told it's a cable box problem that would be fixed. That was almost 3 weeks ago. It makes me extremely uncomfortable to have Fox News basically forced on me. Will be jumping ship to a different LA Fitness until this is taken care of. UPDATE: Months later, the TVs still haven't been fixed, i'm now I'm seeing four out of six TVs showing Fox. I'm done with this location. At least at the University Blvd location you can avoid this god awful propaganda news. I don't know who else I can ask if I'm always getting the same answer. UPDATE: Decided to give this location another try. For the past three weeks, all the TVs are dark except for the one showing Fox News. I inquired weeks ago, and was told they would get right on taking care of the TV problem. I do not want to watch propaganda Fox News. I'd rather them all be turned off than have the one showing that garbage. Going to be canceling my membership in January. I've had it. read more

This is my gym and Im giving it a 2-star ... Is that bad? LA Fitness use to be the cream-of-the-crop gym to go to but honestly they've lost their "swag". We attend this gym because we have a membership and we're comfortable here. However, if we were to find something better (and we are looking) we would probably switch in a heartbeat. Ok so let's start with checking in ... Honestly you never know what to expect. Sometimes the guys at the counter scan my key chain and Im good to go. Sometimes the try to force me to show them the app on my phone. Apparently when you download the LA Fitness app, it's deactivates your keychain ... Wtf? Which would be fine if their app worked half the time! Oh and sometimes there is NO ONE at the front desk..... Uhhhh, hello, anyone home? The machines downstairs ... Good luck finding one that works (seriously) more are broken than the ones that actually work. Doesn't make any sense to me. It's been like that for YEARS! They all have out of order signs and yet no hope of them being fixed. I actually asked the other night what was going on and the guy at the front had no idea what to tell me. Just a deer in headlights blank stare. The equipment upstairs is OK. It's old. They've all been there since they opened. When exactly do they update? The free weights is what really gets me ... Good luck finding a PAIR! It's like they have a weight monster, who only steals one of the weights, which is more frustrating than the entire pair not being there. The gym and the equipment is ALWAYS packed. Be prepared to wait for a piece of equipment, or have to share weights with a stranger. I've taken spinning here and it's pretty good. It gets PACKED and fast so get there early. The best thing I can say about this gym is the bathrooms are clean .... Perhaps time for a change? Sorry LA you use to be my favorite, but your just not quite cuttin it anymore. read more

Dirty, sweat over everything, no one has towels or cleans up; no one re-racks weights. Management doesn't seem to care. So a few of us (all current members of LA Fitness) just went and tried YouFit today on a guest pass, and the recommendations of co-workers. Unbelievable! Unlike LA Fitness, Youfit has a towel and re-rack policy. It was great to see that everyone working out was cleaning up their sweat and re-racking weights. They also have a person who goes around while it is busy and cleans the equipment. It's amazing that for 1/3 of the cost of LA Fitness, YouFit has a cleaner gym with new equipment. For me, It is about 4 minutes longer of a drive, but the pros are many for a cleaner gym. I would stay at LA Fitness (and pay more) to avoid the extra drive, but it is hard to justify paying that much more for a dirtier gym, members who are inconsiderate, sweating over everything, no towels and no one re-racking weights, with management that doesn't care. For the price of LAFitness you should expect more than a gym that charges 10 a month. read more

This is pretty much a "get what you pay for" type of place. It's cheap and there's no contract. But it's not overly clean and equipment can be down for repairs for long periods of time. I do have one major gripe with the place: the attitudes of some of the employees. I can't even count the number of times I've checked in at the front desk with a "stone-faced, couldn't care less, too cool to even acknowledge the customer" douchebag. The equipment is pretty good overall and the atmosphere in the gym is acceptable. It has its share of juiceheads but this is not the dominant culture of the club. Although I'm not thrilled with the place, I've been a member here for over two years and haven't been compelled to leave. To me, it's worth what I pay. I just wish the company and some of its employees would keep in mind that they are in the customer service business and at least try to show a little more courtesy to the members. read more
