It was the place to get the cola champan de botellas and un pan de semita for dessert. It is such a staple with my upbringing. 'Til this day, the man there is the person I remember since I was a kid. Whenever I do get that urge for some Salvi pan, this is my go to since it's so conveniently located. It's a quaint little bakery. On weekends if you go in the morning, you will see a handful of people eating desayuno there, platos tipicos. Very reminsicent of El Salvador. Much of the reason this place has been there for so many decades is because of the community it serves. It may not be the prettiest or boujee of bakeries, but it def has the sabor de El Salvador.

Now I've had my fair share of sweet bread, but this place I've found to be the highest quality and most consistent. I've had some weird tasting pan dulce, some not so fresh, some bland but not here! They always come out really soft and wholesome. My favorites here are the white concha's (i don't even know if I spelled it right but it means sea shell in spanish!) and these other crunchy breads that are firm and sugary. I call them Ojo's (eyes in spanish). But I think I have the name wrong, i've seen it go by a few names at different places so I never know what to call them but I recognize them when I see them! Also one of my favorite things about this place is, if you go in early and at the right time you see the store with anywhere from 2-6 people inside it. It has that "slow" morning feeling. You can tell the people work hard and are about to start their day by nourishing themselves with some good ol' fashioned comforting pan dulce! I love that feeling in the morning when its calm, and everyone is moving around at ease and trying to stay warm.
