a plate of food and a glass of wine

One of the best dining experiences on Aquidneck Island! Their menu has something for everyone, the wine and cocktail selection is lovely, and the views for outdoor dining are unparalleled to anything else in Newport. During my most recent visit we tried the chips and avocado dip, berry and avocado salad, and Cobb salad - and of course some Prosecco! We sat out back near the greens. They also have a covered dining patio if you'd like to enjoy the nice weather but not be truly outside! Service is above average. Wait staff is professional, friendly, and attentive. Definitely recommend!

Really not so good. It was our first night in Newport and it was late, so this place was nearby, open, and recommended by our Airbnb hostess. The food was very average but it was a good quantity. It's right by the Tennis Hall of Fame, so they probably host lots of events with that as the backdrop I can see it's a good place with lots of finger foods being served. Not so good for a sit down dinner in my opinion.

Unfortunately they appeared to be understaffed on the day of a local graduation. Server appeared stressed and overwhelmed as she was the only server and bartender, as a server myself I commended her. Pineapple margarita tasted more similar to a standard lime margarita. Oysters Rockefeller were the star of the show! The creamy spinach dip and breadcrumbs cancelled out any flavor of fishy-ness and just made the perfect pair! We also ordered the calamari as an appetizer, my few bites seemed hard but my family seemed to enjoy it. The stuffed shrimp entree was good, the stuffing tasted great shrimps were small but overall good.

Went to La Forge on the Monday after Christmas Day because we had some time before the Breakers light exhibit. I had a glass of Prosecco and decided I should get something to eat while there. Am I glad I did. The chicken parm on ciabatta was one of the best I've ever had. The chicken was so tender and flavorful. The ciabatta bread had a little crunch on the outside and the inside was soft and delicious. The fries were cooked well. On top of the great sandwich, the interior was beautifully decorated for the holidays. The front bar room had a lot of green garland and lights while the dining room next to the bar was decorated more in a red theme. It was really really well done! I will definitely be back to get that sandwich!

Love a La Forge Spritz and a Strawberry Mojito at lunch

This spot is a total surprise. If you walk in towards the back, their covered patio has an awesome view of the courts at the International Tennis Hall of Fame. It's beautiful for a lunch. They're really trying to bounce back from the Pandemic and have hired some new staff. My advice; be patient. Everything we ordered came out correct and was delicious. Plan for a little longer than normal wait, but know that it's worth it. I had a La Forge Spritz (their take on an Aperol Spritz) which featured fresh blood orange and the chicken salad croissant sandwich. My boyfriend had the reuben and a strawberry mojito which were both incredible. TLDR: Great lunch spot, beautiful view, be patient! Reservations can be made on Resy.

    What I wanted.

Went here with a large group for a friends birthday. Was HUGELY disappointed by the shepherds pie... Pictures on the website made it look beautiful and what I got was SLOP to put it nicely. The service was good, no complaints there. They even brought out cake for the birthday boy! The real complaint is the massive letdown that you guys call shepherds pie. A disgrace to the name. The British Isles would shun you. Otherwise it was great! Would def go here again!! (BUT FIX THE SHEPHERDS PIE.)

Came here on a weeknight in the winter with some friends and ordered the lamb, chowder, lobster rolls, chicken parm. Everything we had was tasty and portion sizes were very reasonable for the price. Service was a little slow despite the place being empty (we had to ask them to take our dirty plates more than once) but overall a decent experience still

We arrived a little early for our 4:00 p.m. reservation, and the place was already packed. While we waited by the bar, a very nice waitress took our drink order--a lemon drop martini, beautifully crafted, well-balanced, and pleasantly strong. We were seated shortly after and, of course, ordered another. (Both times, I took several sips before remembering to take a photo!) Our waitress, Mikela, was truly lovely--sincere, sweet, and very courteous. She was attentive throughout the meal without ever being intrusive, which made the experience feel relaxed and effortless. At the end, I told her I wished I could give her 6 stars, but Yelp only allows 5. For dinner, we both ordered the seared rare ahi tuna steak. I had mine with garlic bread, while my husband chose mashed potatoes. I also added the $9.95 salad buffet, which is such a great deal--you definitely won't leave hungry. I especially love their buffet-style salad bar, which offers nearly every option one could want. Both of our ahi tuna steaks were fantastic--fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. Once again, I dug into my tuna before remembering to take a photo! We finished the meal with a cheesecake to share--another delicious ending to a wonderful dinner. We're already planning our next visit--there are still so many dishes and drinks we'd love to try.

Nestled in the Wharf, it was a cute little place with both an up and downstairs. We reserved a spot for around 5:30 (in April) and it was pretty open. There weren't too customers yet, and it was nice and quiet. If you're looking for a ton of space for the seating area, I will say that there isn't too much room/it's pretty nice and cozy! At Wharf Southern Kitchen and Whiskey Bar, they've got a line of booths along the wall, a bar area right in the center and at the actual bar, a high top, another bar at one of the entrances, and a table that seats six. Now let's chat about the service. Our waitress was wonderful, patient, and was extremely helpful when asked questions and also gave SUCH wonderful suggestions. There were MANY fantastic choices on their menu and I was having a pretty difficult time narrowing down which one I really wanted, but with our waitress's help, I was able to choose pretty quickly (and they were AMAZING choices!) Now the food! The wait for the food honestly wasn't that long, and when we got it, we ABSOLUTELY CHOWED... -The Crispy Chicken Bites were AMAZING! I ended up upgrading to the Buffalo Style, and it DID NOT disappoint at all! The Bleu Cheese crumbles were just the perfect amount, and the Buffalo sauce was JUST enough to still enjoy the crispiness of the chicken. I DID ask for ranch on the side, and that just was *chef's kiss*! -I've never had fried pickles before, but I certainly have never seen a restaurant do it with whole pickles. Though it was my first time trying fried pickles, it tasted great! I wouldn't say it's anything special, but it's a great, and lighter on the fried side, appetizer! -I was having a hard time choosing what entree to enjoy, but I'M SOOOO glad that I went with the Smoked Brisket Chopped Cheese! I'm not a big brisket girl, but I will say that this was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! At first when it came out on the bun, I was a little skeptical of how it would taste, but it definitely didn't disappoint! The brisket was cooked SO well with the perfect amount of seasoning, and it all just melted so perfectly together as I was eating it. And the tater tots were SO AMAZING (though on the saltier side) and SO perfectly crispy. I've only got great things to say about Wharf Southern Kitchen & Whiskey Bar & I WILL be back here/will suggest it to my friends visiting Newport one day!

This bar & restaurant has three floors filled with plenty of entertainment until 1AM. We started off our first night in Newport by having an early dinner here on a Friday. We sat ourselves at the bar on the first floor. The bartenders were friendly and attentive - no complaints on service. To start off, I ordered my usual drink... a classic margarita. It was strong and tarty with a good kick. Their menu offers your typical American pub food like burgers, sandwiches, wings, tacos, wraps, etc. They had a BOGO deal for their spicy fried chicken sandwich (~$14), so we couldn't resist saying no to that lol. The meal included a spicy fried chicken, lettuce, pickles, and spicy aioli sauce on a brioche bun with a side of fries. The portion size was generous and just enough to fill my belly, but not enough to put me into a food coma. The chicken was tender and juicy and I loved how fluffy and buttery the brioche bun was. There was a little too much batter on the chicken than I would have liked, but it was still a delicious sandwich nonetheless. The fries were super crispy and crunchy, 10/10. I'm curious to know what their other sandwiches taste like! Around 8pm, it turns into more of a bar/club atmosphere. It gets progressively packed and loud. There are bouncers at the door to check for IDs and to handle cover fees (if needed). There's live music every weekend from 8-11pm, as well as a DJ from 11pm - closing. The top floor of the restaurant hosts their famous Dueling Piano show where two entertainers perform and engage in playful competition. You request songs for them to play on a grand piano, so it's a fun and interactive experience. Reservations are required in advance. Check their website for the full schedule of their live music performances and show times. Since we got there early, we were able to keep our seats at the bar to watch the live music performance. The crowd was pretty diverse and a mix of all ages. Everyone was having a great time!
