    Wicked Good Time
    Thomas T.

A great casual spot away from the busy Bowen's Wharf. Went here during bingo night during the week. The bar gives good vibes and is popular with a nice crowd. There's street parking and it's in a really walkable area. The wicked good time pizza was really creative and good. I throughly enjoyed the calamari with the aioli as a topping. The aioli itself is addictive. With the heavy toppings you may need to use a fork and knife if you're not strategic.

The Quencher is one of Newport's newer additions, and it's a welcome surprise tucked just down the street from the Newport Marriott. The space, formerly an Irish pub, has been completely transformed with a retro-cool, 1950s-inspired aesthetic. Think upscale diner meets cocktail lounge--but it's very much a bar, not a diner. The decor is playful yet polished, and the overall atmosphere feels fresh and unique for Newport. The drink menu leans into the vintage theme with classics like gimlets and Manhattans, and everything we tried was crafted perfectly--balanced, flavorful, and just plain fun to sip. They also offer live music and karaoke, adding to the laid-back, social energy of the place. Although we didn't eat during this visit, I took a peek at the menu and it looked super creative and tempting. The Quencher has a cool factor that feels both nostalgic and fresh--definitely worth a visit if you're looking for a new favorite hangout in Newport. Service was on point and attentive! Looking forward to coming back!

This spot is super cute and the food was amazing! They had quite the menu for both food and drinks, and I will def be back. Meg and Weller took care of me and were both wonderful. I came for best pizza RI but will be back for lasagna dip, meatballs, bingo, beat the cocktail night and more! What a great experience! This place is cute and the food is yummy!

Quench a sailor's thirst, and come here for a scrumptious burger and beer deal! The staff are phenomenal and so very attentive. Live music, great patrons, clean bathrooms, and a genuinely friendly atmosphere. Cheers to this establishment and a shout out to Amanda and Claus for dealing with our debauchery!

Loved the prosciutto arugula pizza- asked for tomato sauce instead of Parmesan lemon cream sauce and it had a nice kick (actually with some Parmesan and lemon flavor on top anyway). Big pie for the price so that's an extra plus. We sat on the upper level in late afternoon overlooking the harbor which made for nice ambiance (along with some funny/kitschy bumper stickers). Service was good too.

Came tonight for some appetizers. Got the lasagna dip which was amazing. Got the eggplant and a house salad. Got their quencher margaritas. The staff was friendly and super cool. Good music, great atmosphere. House salad had a bit too much vinaigrette dressing for my tastes but overall great spot

The Quencher was ok, the Buffalo wings had there own take on the sauce, maybe a bit tangy it was hard to place it. From the pic you can see you don't get many. My wife's hamburger tasted like one you would get at a county fair & the mozzarella sticks were your basic restaurant depot style.its basically a tourist trap. Our server was nice & the food came out in a decent amount of time. The view from the upstairs patio bar & dining are was terrific & the bar/restaurant was very clean. I wouldn't recommend this place for great bar food but it's a decent enough place to hang out.

Came here with my friend and her family, my husband- had a wonderful time eating on the laid back rooftop overlooking the wharf. Very kid friendly but so fun for all ages. Such friendly service and super chill vibes. I shared a sandwich and pizza with my friend, the sandwich was excellent, a reason alone to revisit. The pizza was a little spicy and had a crispy charred crust.

Came here for the Rhode Island Food Fights Lord of the Pies competition. The Quencher has a cool 50s vibe going for it, and it's clearly more of a bar that happens to serve food than a restaurant that happens to have a bar. Unfortunately, that became pretty apparent during my visit. Let's start with the pizza, which is... well, interesting. Picture a 1-inch thick focaccia bread with some sauce on top. While the bread itself might have been enjoyable with a simple pat of butter, it doesn't quite work as a pizza base. Their tomato pie version adds some heat with red pepper flakes and chunkier sauce, but the cheese version is let down by bland, forgettable cheese and tasteless sauce. The service was puzzling. Despite being the only customers in the establishment, getting a refill on my Coke felt like trying to solve a mystery - "Why is this place called 'Rhe Quencher' if I can't get a refill?" one that remained unsolved throughout the meal. While I can imagine this place humming on evenings and weekends as a bar spot, the daytime service left much to be desired. The verdict? The Quencher seems like it could be a cool spot for drinks, and that retro 50s atmosphere has potential. But if you're here for the pizza, you might want to quench your thirst elsewhere - and your hunger too, for that matter. Weekend service might be better, but the pizza probably won't be.

Chicken sandwiches using pizza bread. Very different but very tasty.

Small bar with an excellent menu of food. We started with the truffle fries. They were crispy and tasty. We then had the chicken Parm sandwich and the grilled chicken club. Both were very delicious and highly recommended. The service was spectacular. If I could find one fault, it was a little bit dark in the place. If you're at the Wyndham resort it's just a short walk away.

After a little shopping we stopped in for a quick glass of wine and a snack. We ordered a lovely Sangiovese and arancini. The wine and snack were super delicious. The dipping sauce was homemade and so were the crispy aranci. Service was exceptional and timely!

Don't judge a book by its cover fits so well here. We've passed this place so many times but decided to stop in for a quick drink this time. What appears to be a dive bar is one of the most down to earth places in Newport serving up some of the best home away from home nosh. The bartender we had should be the first person you go visit when coming to Newport. She's got the inside scoop on everything in town. Real people, real damn good modernized Italian American classic foods. Do try the Negroni on draft. This restaurant will now be our first stop anytime we come to town.

Stopped in on restaurant week. The atmosphere in this restaurant is the bomb--very cool, laidback, and fun. The food was eclectic and delicious. Would definitely return!

After waiting for over 15 minutes for someone to come, take our drink order my husband finally walked over to a few staff members and asked if anyone was servicing our table. It seems as though two different staff members each thought the other one was servicing our table, and they apologized for the oversight. Shortly after they took our drink order, a manager came over to the table with a complementary app and offered a round of drinks on the house. We definitely didn't expect this, but it was a very nice gesture. The appetizer she brought over was a twisty bread and it's something we never would've normally ordered, but it was fantastic. I had a spicy watermelon margarita and it was so good! I definitely recommend trying it. For my meal, I ordered the tuna poke bowl, which is very good. All in all I would say it was a good night. Every time we come here the service is excellent and the food is amazing. This is what we come for right? Outstanding food and service! This year was no different than the other years and I love how the menu continues to evolve and change and everything that comes to life from the menu to the table is well thought out and bursting with harmonious blends of flavor. The presentation is gorgeous too! Plating is also important and they nail it! Okay let's gooooo! Come join our dining experience! We tried a bit of everything! We loved every bit of it. I'll mention my faves but that doesn't take away how hard it was to choose a fave! Everything was DELICIOUS ! Raw bar: Jamestown oysters . We had 10. We can't get enough east coast oysters. We live in the west side and I cannot say enough how much better oysters are on east coast! Slurp ! Mmm! Snacks: 1. Shartner's Farm Carrots: pea green pesto, pine nut, n'duja . If you're a meat, potato and pasta person and try to avoid your veggies, don't do that here. GET IT! It's such a great melody of textures and flavors that pair well. It doesn't feel like you are eating carrots and regardless it's a very dressed up bougie delicious carrot plate ! Mmmm . One of my faves out of the snacks. 2. Narragansett Creamery Burrata: green strawberry, speck, basil. Creamy, vibrant and just delicious Pasta: only had room in our tummies for 1 but every year we try different pastas and never disappoints. This year no exception. Maltagliati- hopkins southdowns lamb sugo, swiss chard, harissa, umbrian chickpea. Excellent! Pasta was perfect texture and consistency!! Little touch of spice from harissa which I loved (not overpowering). The Swiss chard was cooked to a crispy texture which I loved. I was a bit nervous about the lamb because it really can vary from place to place. However, I should have known better being from here they cooked/braised it to perfection: melt in your mouth type of soft and no weird or gamey taste. Definitely delicious pasta I recommend. Plates: 1. Duck Leg Confit- japanese turnip, spigariello kale, huckleberry conserva, duck jus. Personally my faves of the two plates but both delicious. The crispy skin from the duck and tender flavorful duck meat was just to die for. Loooooved. Plus the turnips and the amazing huckleberry conserva! Thinking about it makes my mouth water. So so good. 2. Beef Short Rib-swiss chard erbazzone, sunchoke, hazelnut. Loved it. Tasty as expected. Great flavor and tender. Dessert: 1. Olive Oil Cake- strawberry, rosé, lime curd, basil gelato. Wow! Oh wow! I'm so happy this time around they have some cake options. I love olive oil cake and now to pair with a basil gelato sounds insane right? Holy cow! Soooo good! Not what I was expecting. Strawberry, rose, lime and basil gelato flavor all work well together in this dessert. My fave dessert of the night! TRY IT! 2. Cookies N' cream: narragansett creamery ricotta, chocolate biscotti- yummy! Tasted like an elevated cookies and cream ! We loved our experience! Hopefully when you visit here, you can enjoy it as much as we do year after year. I absolutely love this place. Once we arrived we were abruptly stopped by the hostess who would not let us enter the bar because it was "at capacity". Apparently they do not allow for standing room at their bar (weird but ok!) and we were then rudely told that it would "be a while" from the hostess who seemed to be more stressed than the President of the US. After telling her we would wait a few and being told "it will be more than a few", we were then seated (we likely waited about 10-15 minutes). Upon being seated, there were multiple 2-some tables in the bar available that (if we had been asked) we would have shared we only had time for 1 drink before dinner elsewhere. Nestled in the Wharf, it was a cute little place with both an up and downstairs. We reserved a spot for around 5:30 (in April) and it was pretty open. There weren't too customers yet, and it was nice and quiet. If you're looking for a ton of space for the seating area, I will say that there isn't too much room/it's pretty nice and cozy! At Wharf Southern Kitchen and Whiskey Bar, they've got a line of booths along the wall, a bar area right in the center and at the actual bar, a high top, another bar at one of the entrances, and a table that seats six. Now let's chat about the service. Our waitress was wonderful, patient, and was extremely helpful when asked questions and also gave SUCH wonderful suggestions. There were MANY fantastic choices on their menu and I was having a pretty difficult time narrowing down which one I really wanted, but with our waitress's help, I was able to choose pretty quickly (and they were AMAZING choices!) Now the food! The wait for the food honestly wasn't that long, and when we got it, we ABSOLUTELY CHOWED... -The Crispy Chicken Bites were AMAZING! I ended up upgrading to the Buffalo Style, and it DID NOT disappoint at all! The Bleu Cheese crumbles were just the perfect amount, and the Buffalo sauce was JUST enough to still enjoy the crispiness of the chicken. I DID ask for ranch on the side, and that just was *chef's kiss*! -I've never had fried pickles before, but I certainly have never seen a restaurant do it with whole pickles. Though it was my first time trying fried pickles, it tasted great! I wouldn't say it's anything special, but it's a great, and lighter on the fried side, appetizer! -I was having a hard time choosing what entree to enjoy, but I'M SOOOO glad that I went with the Smoked Brisket Chopped Cheese! I'm not a big brisket girl, but I will say that this was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! At first when it came out on the bun, I was a little skeptical of how it would taste, but it definitely didn't disappoint! The brisket was cooked SO well with the perfect amount of seasoning, and it all just melted so perfectly together as I was eating it. And the tater tots were SO AMAZING (though on the saltier side) and SO perfectly crispy.
