Yum! The food was really good. Had the pineapple fajitas! We went on a Friday night and a Mariachi singer was there. Such a nice touch, added something extra to the ambiance. Would def go again!

We've been here several times, the food has been wonderful each time. The portions are a good size, the chips and salsa is the best. Love the colorful decor!

Atmosphere gets 5 stars! Such a colorful, festive dining room. Server was attentive. There are so many food choices. We had the chorizo sausage appetizer and the guac and chips appetizer. Chorizo cooked to perfection. Very tasty. Guac was good but a bit overpriced. The dinners were good, including your choice of beans and rice. Plentiful portions, I took about half home to enjoy the next day. We didn't get dessert but the table next to us did. Very tempting, next time I'll skip the apps and get dessert. It's BYOB, but also has a good selection of soft drinks. Would definitely return.

When we drive anywhere we always Yelp Mexican places because it's food that kind of feels like home so we have eaten Mexican in so many places and most of the times its been good but today this was a let down. When we walked in we were greeted by a young lady that could work on her people skills. The young man in the poncho who was our waiter was great! We each got something different and none of us were pleased. No way there's a Latino in that kitchen. If I lived close I wouldn't return. Nice decor and place is clean but much room for improvement.

My boyfriend and I were really excited to try this place but felt like it was nothing special. Very average. Food looks better than it tastes. We ordered pork enchiladas, pork burritos, and tamales.

Thursday special. Steak burrito with guacamole and sour cream. Good

I have been here a couple times in the past and it seems the recurring theme is slowwwwww service. The waitress is nice and has served us before but she is extremely slow to get to our table to see if we need more water, napkins, etc. Getting the bill took someone in our party to get up and walk over to flag her down. As customers start filling in, being attentive to every customery needs seems prohibited. I did notice only one other waitress there so perhaps an additional experienced one working there can not only alleviating the wait but also train the staff to be more attentive. Food was good. I had the special which was a steak burrito for under 10 dollars which included salsa and sour cream. Lot of steak stuffed in it. You get to pick your own flavored salsa to go along with it. They do give you a small bowl of chips with salsa. Additional chips and salsa are 4 dollars. I would come in again but hope the service will be better, hence, my rating will be higher. Is that too much to ask?

Good food and pretty good service, but left a little to offer. They never sent out my partner's guac until she was almost done eating and they sent my drink with no ice. While the staff was friendly I feel like they didn't have enough to keep up with the few tables there that night. The place was near where we were so the location was convenient and they stayed open later than most of the other places in the area. We really liked the decor in the place, each table and chair had a carved design that was hand painted. It was really bright and vibrant. Our food came out hot and full of flavor. I feel like the prices are comparable to other Mexican places in the area and with plenty of parking it isn't a bad place to stop by for a bite to eat.

Very cute place and very vibrant atmosphere.

Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by this place. When we sat, we promptly were served chips and salsa that tasted very fresh. The food that both my boyfriend and I had was really good and fresh too. I had the sizzling chicken fajita and he had a chorizo burrito. Portion size was more than enough and we were both stuffed when we left. I must add that my boyfriend is 100% Mexican and this place definitely delivered on the flavors. The service is one reason why this place got 4 stars instead of 5 stars. We went on a Tuesday night and they actually started getting pretty busy but there was only 1 server which caused us to wait a little longer for things than ideal (I'm not trying to be picky because she was doing a great job of running around, but when there are that many tables to take care of, it's hard to keep on top of everybody). One of the chefs, or the owner, started helping out and delivering food. He was very polite and seemed to really care that people were enjoying the food. When it was time to pay, they brought out a portable charging station (I don't know the official name for those things, but it has a touch screen and a place to insert or swipe your credit card). I would have been fine with that, but it seemed like they only had 1 for the whole restaurant so the waitress stood there as you figured out how to use this particular model; it was a little awkward if you ask me). My advice would be to drop the high tech stuff and just do the old way of giving a check and sending your card back to the server to pay. The decor is very colorful, but a little over the top, but I think a lot of people expect that. The hand-painted chairs, tables, and booths are really beautiful and a nice touch. There is a random fountain in the middle of the restaurant which is a waste of space in my opinion, but I guess it's there because it's the name of their place. Cute salt shakers! They should sell souvenir salt and peppers just like them: I feel like people would buy them. Haha. Oh, and what are those display cases in the front of the store? I couldn't tell if the stuff was for sale or on display; seemed kind of random. In review, I would definitely go back here again. I'm not sure I would try it on a busy night though, so I'll stick to my week-day trend. Food was excellent and fresh!

    Complimentary chips and salsa.

I've noticed signs on Columbus Road announcing a Mexican grill addition to the shopping plaza. However, on my morning trips to Dunkin Donuts for some caffeine I have tried to locate the restaurant with no success. Today I finally realized it is sort of behind the dentist's office. I told my fiance I had located the ever elusive new Mexican restaurant and that we should give it a try. So, tonight we stopped in around 8 to find several tables filled and lots of servers bustling around. The interior is bright and colorful yet intimate and romantic. There are maybe a dozen tables and a few booths. The tables are carved and painted, there are floral murals on the walls and of course a fountain! The servers are dressed in traditional Mexican clothing. Everyone who passed our table asked how we liked the food and if we needed anything. They could not have been any more kind and it was nice to feel appreciated and taken care of. All of the above is wonderful but what really matters is the food. Once seated we were quickly given a big basket of fresh tortilla chips and salsa. The salsa was delicious but did not have any spice to it. We ordered the Queso Fundido which came with a few warm flour tortillas. The cheese was bubbling in a cast iron skillet. The edges were crisp but the middle still gooey. It was great but of course oily. Melted cheese is like that, so we just enjoyed! For our main dishes my fiance ordered a chimichanga and asked the server for his recommendation on filling. The server sold him on the pollo al pastor. I ordered the vegetable enchiladas with red sauce. The food arrived very quickly and looked good. My fiance said the chimichanga was excellent and very filling. He said he wasn't in the mood for chicken but was glad he went with the servers recommendation because it was very tasty. My enchiladas were excellent as well. The filling was steamed vegetables. I am used to frozen vegetables that are overcooked and tasteless. I was pleasantly surprised to see real, fresh vegetables inside! While they did not taste seasoned they were cooked well. Definitely fresh and flavorful on their own. The sauce was complex and delicious! One of the best parts of the meal were the humble side dishes: refried beans and rice. They were each very flavorful and hearty. I could have easily made a meal of them alone! These are not mass produced, chain restaurant type beans and rice. These were cooked with experience and love. Most main dishes are around $13 and combination platters are $15+. If you pay with a credit card they leave a clover tablet at your table to pay with. Very cool! Very minor demerits include fountain soda that was not very cold, the food coming out a tad too quickly, Jarritos that cost $3 a bottle and a website that doesn't work.

I have been here twice. They just opened about 3 weeks ago. Our food and service was good and I hope they stick around! BYOB The soups are delicious especially the #1 soup w the seafood. Very friendly staff. They need to have their sign out up out front! They are tucked away on the side of the shopping complex and easy to miss.

    "A cup of Ice"

I have been to this place a few times before and I've had nothing but amazing experiences the food was always delicious and extremely authentic. I went this past Tuesday with my husband for lunch and while aesthetically the restaurant looks exactly the same the service and the food was completely different. We ordered seafood soup, which took a very long time. Once the lady brought the soup there were four clams that were closed on top of the soup with tripe in the center.. a few carrots and broccoli. My husband had a shrimp in his. I tried to waive the one server down however she was attending to the other tables. By the time I was able to get her attention I explain to her that this soup was awful and depending on how long my entrée was going to come out I would like just for chicken tortilla soup. I even pointed out that all of the clams were closed on the soup... She looked at me extremely confused and told me that my entree would be out shortly. I asked her for a cup of ice.. Attached is the photo is the cup of ice that she gave me. Clearly this was bagged ice banged up, about an inch high into the cup. OK so here comes the entrées my husband and I both get shrimp. The plates were extremely hot the rice and the beans, specifically the beans had a film over them that tells me they were microwaved. Then they added a little bit of salad and sour cream with our sautéed shrimp. She asked if we would like tortillas I said yes I just stuck the shrimp in the tortillas and ate them. I asked for the check she had trouble getting it she was waiting for someone to help her once he did, I gave them my card paid and got out of there quickly I was extremely frustrated. I was in the mood for delicious Mexican food and I drove over a half hour to get some so this was very disappointing. It all makes sense the gentleman who was helping her print our check was having lunch with what looked to be like family or possibly friends and they were clearly congratulating him on his business venture. They even put coins into the fountain. I hate to leave a low review on a new restaurant owner, if he is the a new owner - he should have walked over and asked us how our food and experience was being that we were the only patrons there at the time. He was more focused on taking selfie's with the people that were there to congratulate him. The microwaved place is really awful how do you serve someone a seafood soup with all closed clams... Not a good start.

This is one of the few restaurants in Mansfield that merits visiting. The atmosphere, food, and service were all good.

If you're in the Columbus, NJ area and craving flavorful, authentic Mexican food, El Mariachi Loco…read moreMexican Grill is a spot you need to check out. It's become a local favorite, and after eating there, it's easy to see why. First off, the service is great--super friendly and fast, even when it gets busy. You never feel like you're waiting around, and the staff makes you feel welcome from the second you walk in. The portion sizes are generous, and you get a lot of high-quality food for what you pay. Whether you're ordering a burrito, tacos, or something off their full entrée menu, you'll leave full and satisfied. The burritos especially are solid--hearty, flavorful, and well put together, and the rest of the menu holds up just as well. Everything is seasoned perfectly and cooked with care. The interior decor is really fun and vibrant, with a lot of attention to detail. It's one of those places that's actually worth sitting down to eat in just to enjoy the atmosphere. It's colorful, cozy, and adds to the whole experience. That said, it's a little pricey for Mexican food, especially compared to quick-service spots--but the quality and setting justify it. You're definitely paying for a sit-down experience with authentic flavors and not just a quick bite. Overall, El Mariachi Loco is one of the best spots around for Mexican food--a great local place with bold flavors, friendly service, and an atmosphere that makes it worth a visit again and again.

I knew about it, and I even knew where…read moreit was supposed to be located, but I'd driven by it a thousand times without going in...largely due to the very small sign located over the location. I didn't actually realize it was where I wanted to go until I was parking in front of it. As mentioned in other reviews, the dining space inside is small and very basic--which is fine. The portion of the store selling Mexican food staples is in the front as you enter, and the handful of dine-in tables are located at the back of the store between the store's aisles and the kitchen counter. What finally got me there to visit was that it was open for breakfast, and while a lot of places say they're open for breakfast, opening up at 9AM twice a week doesn't qualify. El Sabor Oaxaqueño 2 is open for breakfast most days at 6AM, because they serve people who are working their butts off and who need a good meal. The breakfasts at El Oaxaqueño 2 serve that need. My Chilaquiles Verde were spicy, but not super spicy, and it was served with rice and black beans. My carne asada was an addition as were my fried eggs. You can also get chicken breast (pechuga) or a red sauce if that's more your style. My wife's Huevos con Chorizo were very flavorful and very filling. They were also served with rice and black beans, along freshly made tortillas and a stick of cheese to crumble over your meal. She was only able to finish off half her plate, and we took home the rest. Our next visit was for dinner, and because I couldn't decide on what I wanted, we split three plates between us. First up was my Tacos de Tripa. I asked for the tripa (pork chitterlings, not tripe) to be well cooked so that it was crunchy, and they served them up just as I like them. They were topped with chopped onion and garlic, and once topped with the spicy green fresh salsa, we gobbled them down. The tortillas were freshly made and had a nice texture. The next dish was the chicken enchiladas en mole. Four enchiladas were well stuffed with white chicken meat then bathed in flavorful mole and served with rice and beans. Thankfully, it wasn't topped with a ridiculously huge glob of melted cheese. Last was the Quesadilla--not your Mama's quesadilla either. It was huge, and it wasn't as cheesy as the quesadillas the average person knows. Inside it was stuffed almost like a taco with big pieces of shrimp in one half and carne asada in the other. There was cheese, but cheese was not the star as it is in the average quesadilla we're all used to. It was good, and we both enjoyed it--it was just a surprise. The place is far from fancy, but they serve real food, and it's real good.
